I've been on a bakery rampage lately, and Third Cliff Bakery was next on my list. I always go at opening, and this was the first time a bakery had a line before doors even opened, which surprised me. Doors opened right at 8 AM, and the overall wait wasn't too bad (~10 minutes). There is timed street parking out front, and the inside has a few tables with high ceilings and a nice mural.
I ordered a few items to share:
- Kimchi & Cheddar Croissant: I was most excited about this because it was a unique flavor, but the inside didn't actually have that much kimchi. It wasn't bad, though--just didn't wow me as much as I wanted it to.
- Buttermilk Family Croissant: This croissant was also just okay. Very flaky.
- Pain au Chocolat: I liked this one. Can never go wrong with chocolate.
- Orange Cardamon Morning Bun: This one was good, but the person I shared it with felt it was too cinnamon-y.
- Pumpkin & Candied Ginger Cake with Maple Icing: I liked this. I would have preferred if the icing was less sweet, but the cake was very moist.
Overall, I'm happy to have tried Third Cliff Bakery, but it wasn't the best of the bakeries that I've checked out recently (maybe I'll try a drink next time). I do think the prices are a little bit on the lower end relative to the pastry sizes, though, which is nice.
