Three Stone Hearth

Every town should have a Three Stone Hearth!! The bone broth soup is tasty and extremely nourishing. I love the meat one. And the southern style chicken soup. Oh, their carrot ginger soup is great too. Everything is but those are favorites. I can’t find cheese that tastes better than the one they offer. And the gelatina is oh so good! Especially the hibiscus one. If your body needs a little boost, it will be so happy if you dropped by here. I buy a few soups and transfer them to smaller mason jars. And then freeze them. That way I always have a healthy meal on hand. Thank you Three Stone Hearth for nourishing your neighbors!

Awesome unique spot that I found while on a quest to try all the local ferments in the area. They have a fridge full of large-format bottles of kombucha and water kefir in cool edgy flavors such as nettle as well as more standard flavors like hibiscus. I only had the chance to try one thing and opted for the blood orange cardamom kefir made with molasses and vanilla bean. How cool. I really enjoyed it. Cardamom and blood orange are both easily overdone, but not in this case. Extremely well executed. I think the vanilla bean worked behind the scenes to help mellow everything out. Yum. I downed the bottle and returned it (for a cash refund of the bottle deposit) before moving on to my next fermentation destination.

My family and I go here to pick up the pre-made food. We love it! They don't spice it or season it very heavily; so my young son usually can eat it too. It's extremely healthy stuff. Also, everyone here is very friendly, and they have lots of interesting stuff on the shelf to try.

Love, love, love this place. Just discovered a few weeks ago - what a local treasure. So grateful to have "homecooked," nourishing, intentional, healthy, and sustainable meals accessible in this way. Staff is helpful and kind.

I've been shopping at Three Stone Hearth for years, and have taken classes through them too, and am never disappointed. I would go so far as to say that their food is the healthiest I've ever found (and tasty too!). If you're especially interested in ancient/non-inflammatory foods this is your gold mine. I hope your own experience is equally rewarding!

I always love getting food from here! Everything I've gotten has been delicious, the store smells AMAZING, and everybody is very, very helpful. I order ahead online and pick up in store since I live forever away, and sometimes I'll get something extra while I'm there since they have whatever they didn't sell out of ahead of time in the front area as well. The samples are great too - I got to try their whey sports drink that I was on the fence about, and it was SO TASTY. When I go back to the gym after my upcoming surgery, I'm going to start buying it! I cannot recommend this place enough. I can't afford to buy from here nearly as often as I'd like, but occasionally I splurge when I can. If you can afford the cost of GOOD ingredients, treat yourself to amazingly tasty AND healthy food!

I was so thrilled to learn about this place from my friend. Sometimes I make my own bone broth but it takes so much work and it's so time consuming. It's so nice to be able to show up and buy it here, even though it's expensive. I feel that way about pate too. I bought their chicken pate which was delicious and also doesn't contain all the things that I don't want in it like milk or cream. I wish it was closer but conveniently it is close to Bart which is great from a public transit perspective.

This place is a gem in the Bay Area. I have been buying food from Three Stone Hearth for years. Three Stone has expand its open hours so it is relatively easy to pick up your food. There are also deliveries made to San Francisco for those who can't get over to Berkeley. The quality of their sources for vegetables and meats is the best. It's the best.

Noah and Vicky have been so nice and helpful during my recent visits. This shop is across the street from my son's Hanwen aftercare program and I'm so sad that Hanwen is moving but I will still go out of my way to return here for the soups, tonics and other excellent, albeit expensive health products that the store offers. You get what you pay for to be sure. I also picked up some items for a housewarming party. I will be attending and was grateful for the input provided by the employees on what would be good gifts to purchase. It is only open starting on Wednesdays so don't try to go on Mondays and Tuesdays as I have before. They give you $1.50 credit for each empty bottle that you return in their parking lot receptacle. The store is clean and bright inside.

We keep coming back for more! Their hearty soups and stews are the best, and always a comfort when we don't have time or energy to cook our own meals from scratch. I wish there were more places like three stone hearth!

Nourishing, nutritious, mostly organic slow-cooked food in safe, reusable or recyclable containers. Reasonable prices for the quality. It's a wonderful option for healthy, convenient food - cheaper and healthier than take-out but still gives you a break from cooking! I like the soups, stews, ground meat, and meatloaf especially. Four stars instead of five because the flavors are generally pretty mild and I like stronger/bolder flavors. More comforting than wow. Still definitely worth it for me.

Some of the most nourishing food options in the Bay area. Really good with food restrictions and special diets. Was referred to Three Stone Hearth by both a nutritionist and a doctor. Love the organic selection and thoughtfulness in ingredient sourcing. Love that the food is healthy AND tastes good. A rare combination. The chicken bone broth and falafel are two of our favorites!

It's a little on the spendy side, but delicious hand-made food that tastes good and it's GOOD for you. The menu slowly changes(like the seasons!") and everything is delicious-even what's GOOD for you,

Got the Chicken Soup with Wild Rice and Mushrooms (22 oz). It is super tasty and the person who gives you your pickup order is nice. If I want to get credit for the jar they give the soup in I have to wash it and put it in the bins in the parking lot and let them know that I've returned it so they update my tab to discount the $1.50. I just want to say again that the soup is really tasty. The order process is a bit confusing (ordering it online on their website instead of in person), but the food's tastiness makes it worth it. I was able to get 2 servings of soup out of the jar. The photo is from my second serving.

It's so nice to see a new menu in my inbox from Three Stone Hearth this week. It warms my insides up - just as their nourishing broth used to do. Three Stone Hearth has been around for years. Their food is made with superb ingredients and their whole business is woven with intention and integrity. They're a well intentioned business with hard working staff. I haven't ordered from them in awhile - due to cooking more on my own etc, but I would wholeheartedly recommend them to someone looking to heal their gut and looking to nourish their body with nutrient dense ingredients. Three Stone Hearth was actually the nation's first Community Supported Originally inspired by the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model. Over the years they have evolved into a more conventional model of online ordering and brick & mortar sales. It wasn't always the easiest, but it was worth it for the amazing wholesome food. I appreciated that their food was based on simple ingredients and that they were conscious about listing on their menu if items were gluten-free, dairy-free, nightshade-free and GAPS Diet-friendly etc. Even though I haven't ordered from them in awhile - I still love to look at their menu (and I suggest you check it out as well - https://threestonehearth.com/this-weeks-menu). As predicted, I have returned to Three Stone Hearth. Every week since my first time, in fact. They even send an email reminder to pick up your order on the day you've scheduled for pick up. I have bought frozen dishes and fresh ones from the weekly menu and for the most part I have loved everything. They use a light hand w/ salt and sugar, which I like a lot. The pork mole verde I bought recently needed salt and I will add it when I have the remainder of the dish. Their food sits lightly in my stomach, which I like. The jar return is indeed on the honor system. No one checks you in when you return them and you report to the person who brings you your order how many jars you have returned and they relay the information to a cashier who credits your account. I had returned 6 jars last week so I had $9 credit this week, which felt like found money, even though it was money I had already spent. I noticed just now that a dish I had particularly liked last week is now in the frozen section, so I ordered more for next week's pick up along w/ three things from next week's menu, which was published today. I am definitely a satisfied customer.

Best prepared food store ever. High quality. Consistently delicious. I can have meals at home better than any restaurant around. I love the entire business. From the layout to the people. If you haven't tried it, everything is wonderful.

Well, I was quite excied when they opened. I had been reading Sally Fallon's book, Nourishing Traditions, and was excited that there was a spot opening up that would serve food inspired by the very traditions she wrote about. However, when they opened, I was appalled by how expensive it was. They advertised themselves as Trader Joe's type food, made with quality ingredients. Instead, their mantra should have been Trader Joe's type food, for people with money to burn. $10 for a four oz pate, $14 for a quart of bone broth or stew, means that this is meant for the upper 1% of the Bay Area. But that's now what drew my ire. My problem is that I tried to volunteer with them. I signed up with and went through the kitchen tour. We met, toured the kitchen, ate a meal together and talked. I'll be honest. I was there to learn how to do some canning and other techniques, and because I was a soap maker and was looking for an outlet to sell. Not a problem. I saw it as a win-win. We had a tour and ate a meal. I imagined that we'd sit around a giant table, say thanks for the food, and introduce ourselves one by one or in small groups and proceed to talk. That didn't really happen. I think that I had a total of two people speak to me. I felt like a ghost, much like I did when I went to the racist Christian school. I went around and talked to people, asked questions and was truly interested in what they were doing. I talked to the Kombucha guy who claimed that he'd never made it before and was just trying things out. I mentioned that I'd made Kombucha as well, nothing. I talked to the woman who was preparing our lunch - which was made up of unsold goods that were about to expire. I explained that I was gluten, shellfish, and dairy intolerant and she considered that in her choices of food. But I got my dinner and ate in silence. There was no, "Hey, how did you find out about this place," or "Are you a customer" or "Where are you from?" Nothing but silence. They were looking for a local soap maker and afterwards, I went up and told them that I made soap and had been doing so for about 10 years, and that I taught classes at the adult school. Again nothing. No, can I have a sample (I had some in my car), do you have a card (had them on me), or would you like to come in and present your products to us for consideration? Crickets. Now such a behavior has a name - microagression. It is what happens when people aren't openly hostile towards you in an agressive way, but rather they ignore you or act like you aren't around. It's crazy making because they seem like nice people, but it's clear that they really would rather that you not share the same space as them. This is a white, liberal space for rich people to provide fancy foods for their white, liberal, rich friends and unaffordable prices. Meanwhile, they claim to lose money on everything, yet somehow they can keep that way to big space and continue to provide a weekly menu and have the time and money to fund the processing of their food. At the time, they were looking for volunteers and I told them I was interested. At the time, I had Friday's off and planned to spend that day, earning $1 credit of time for each our worked. But I was not inspired. It didn't seem like I was the type of person they were looking for. They had a newsletter and would show six week trainees from New Orleans, Atlanta, or some other place with poor people. I assumed that their presence meant that there would be space for me. But I learned that libral doesn't mean that they like black people. I made the mistake of walking into a white space as their equal and they were having none of that. Meanwhile, I make a mean bone broth, a fantastic stew and chilli, and a wonderful pate. They inspired me to cook more for myself and go to YouTube and Amazon for inspiration. I could not find it locally within their walls. For that reason, the store is not a fav. I go there for inspiration, but they don't get my money. I don't want to spend my money with people who can't even bother to say hello.

I heard about Three Stone Hearth a few weeks ago, and it has already become my new favorite store! I'm on a restrictive diet (AIP), and before I found this store, I had to cook every single meal. Now I have a place that gives me either whole meals or important building blocks for my meals! Their menu changes weekly, and this week was particularly magical: - Ground beef skillet with greens that I added to three meal prep kits. - I devoured the Blueberry Gelatina with Lemon Coconut Cream (probably too fast it was so delicious). Dessert has been one of the hardest things on this diet, so it was so lovely to have this available! - I've never had a carrot orange kombucha before- it was fantastic! I've started to find excuses to drive over from San Francisco on a Saturday to pick up my order. I also used their delivery option once, which was very reasonable. I love that they reuse almost all their jars and all delivery materials.

Why did he have to be rude and laugh when I asked if I could order for same day? I didn't realize 3 stones sells nothing in the store anymore. I drove all the way here for the pate. Yes probably should've checked the website, but I assumed they just had products in the store. But seriously why laugh at me in front of other customers in responding. It's just unprofessional and rude.

My daughter, unknown to me, arranged an unrequested delivery to San Francisco. The soup was so awful we didn't try anything else. We're planning to return the rest of the items. Not for us.

This place took us way too long to find. It is perfectly aligned with our desire to eat healthier and with less plastic delivered. Use of cardboard boxes and mason jars is wonderful. They are not available every hour or day. During hours they are open, you stand outside to pick up your order but if you want to shop inside the store, they let you right in. If you go by outside of open hours, you won't be let in. Does that explain why you didn't get in?

Just started doing a weekly order from TSH to have healthy weeknight dinners for Monday through Thursday night. So far we love the caulironi and cheese, white bean and pastured pork stew with greens, curried red lentil puree with coconut milk, gluten free brownies, pickled beets, mushroom sausage and cabbage soup, chicken liver pate, baby lima bean minestrone with chicken, Dominican beef and plantain casserole*, Nopales Guisados with Pinto Beans, Creamy Carrot-Ginger Soup, Morel's rye bread, lentil chili with lamb. Sea Vegetable Salad with Carrots, Daikon and Burdock, cottage pie*, Piccadilly and black bean pie* and melon gazpacho*. Absolutely scrumptious. *ridiculously delicious, ordered more for freezer AND children loved it even younger more selective eater. We (the adults) find the stews and soups with chicken not super tasty and the meat rather dry. They are edible just kind of blah. On the other hand, the kids like the chicken dishes. We have found this true in the baby lima bean minestrone with chicken, chicken vegetable soup (mirepoix), chicken and rice in Brazilian coconut sauce. The last dish had a ton of rice and not much chicken, like we got the bottom of the pot. So while there have since been really tasty looking chicken dishes especially an African chicken stew, chicken pozole etc I can't stomach spending the money. Given the cost, sometimes $17 for a quart of soup, I expect perfection. Since I'm a rational adult that has spent enormous amounts of $ and that these meals are very nutritious, I will eat it all, every last drop. Let's just say that since we started purchasing food from here, we eat what the kids don't because it costs too much to let it go to waste. :) The customer service is friendly and responsive; I love picking up food and trying samples, though I wish they had better hours. I absolutely love that our family cooking load is reduced and we can enjoy spending time together eating wholesome foods rather than stressing about grocery lists, planning, prepping and cooking during the week. Wish I had tried TSH sooner.

Three Stone Hearth lists "digestibility" as a goal in their mission statement and ... Yelp does it again! Thank You Mud for getting back to me and (finally) listening to the concerns of your customers. Black pepper is now found in almost all processed food so it's incredibly hard to get away from. Now that we no longer make our own food, it's incredibly important that we are allowed to at least spice our own food with the basics just like we used to. Remember the salt and pepper shaker that used to grace our tables? There was a really good reason for that. True, true, black pepper isn't a nightshade but that doesn't mean people can't become sensitive to it. I'm really glad you folks have decided to let us take seasoning into our own hands ;) Three Stone Hearth has an awesome CSA for vegetables and meat (if you cook for yourself) and raw A2 milk. I don't think you can find real, raw, A2 milk anywhere else. I react to it so I can't use it but I gave some to a friend who normally drinks Lactaid and she's signed up. There's a comment about Claravale Raw milk so maybe the A2 isn't there anymore. Not sure. They also have a good bookshelf. There's a book about the gut and psychological diseases which is incredibly important. Who knew the gut was implicated in paranoid schizophrenia? I'm so glad they recognize how personal these issues are to the rest of us too. Thanks 3 Stone

Wow chicken soup is fantastic can't wait to try the sauerkraut and olives next!! you can order online ahead of time i hear and i got some skin care too!!! better late than never i guess just wish i had know about this place 4 years ago when i got to emeryville!!!

I guess they are temporarily closed right now but I found them at the Adeline Farmers Market. I got the better bitters kraut. It really isn't bitter at all and is delicious, fresh, and some of the tangiest kraut I've had. I really appreciate that some of the best kraut I have had is available local. Look forward to stopping in to the brick and mortar sometime.

Really cool place with bizarre hours. Kinda like an indoor farmers market or specialty grocer. They have great chocolate chip cookies! But I can never get them because they have so few open hours.

I picked up food for the first time on Saturday. Covid safety measures are in place & on point. The food was so delicious, I think I will be buying from them often! Thank you, Three Stone Hearth!! Long may you run!

I've sent people to Three Stone Hearth for years. When I got sick last year and didn't have the energy to cook, TSH saved me. I ordered a week's worth of their delicious and highly nutritious meals to see me through. Yes it's pricey but not as pricey as eating out because I didn't have the energy to cook. Food is medicine when it's prepared properly as it is here at TSH. I am so grateful to have TSH in our community. There is no other place like this.

We've been blessed by their food for years. Healthy ingredients, good tasting food, supports local producers. Good food costs a little more but we stretch their thick soups and stews by adding some of their beef or chicken broth and sometimes a few of our own veggies. On balance we find our grocery bills to be the same if not a little less since relying on Three Stone more since COVID hit. Their prepared soups, the staples like eggs, and occasional treats have been a godsend during shelter in place. The people are super friendly and go out of their way to serve. It's a coop and like so many local businesses needs all the help we can give. Highly recommended.

Love this place - but as others have said, they have strange business hours. I'm now placing my orders on-line so I can get what I want, as they are often out of products I come in to get otherwise. If you like brownies, do NOT miss the gluten free walnut brownies. I'm not on a gluten free diet, but these are the best brownies I've ever eaten: rich, super chocolaty, dense in the right way, and nutty. My husband loves brownies too and had no idea these were gluten free. Although the products are expensive, I know they are a much more healthy and delicious alternative to buying processed products in other stores.

Their bone broth soups such as Chicken and Rice in Brazilian Coconut Sauce, and Lentil Chili with Lamb, are very hearty and tasty. I buy them in bulk and store them in my freezer so that I always have access to them. Yum. I get multiple meals out of each jar because I'll combine the soups with other ingredients. Also, the staff is very friendly and accommodating.

I love this place! Community in the city! The food is such great quality. It truly is food as medicine! I can find everything I need here. My favorite things: Broth of course, lemon curd, all the soups!!! Gluten free cakes in the cooler, tooth soap, and the kombucha was nice with the green tea.

Wonderfully exceptional food! I especially love their bone broth and spreads such as the olive tapenade and pesto. Very kind people work the check-out. This place makes enjoying real nourishing food easy.

After having my son I no longer have the time to make fermented and cultured foods. Lucky for me Three Stone Hearth offers a decent variety of fermented and cultured food and beverages to purchase. Plus the kitchen is just a few blocks from my house which makes it easy for me to pick up my weekly supply of Kombucha, kefir, sauerkraut, and kvass. I can't speak to the quality of their food because I do not eat meat or dairy and they adhere primarily to the GAPS diet and Weston A. Price food prep style. However their food offerings are diverse and balanced for those interested in these style foods. I find the kitchen to be a welcoming communal space. Costumers and staff are warm and friendly. Definitely worth a visit to enjoy the nourishing foods and vibes.

Three Stone Hearth (TSH) uses traditional methods to make wonderful nutrient-dense prepared foods. Most of their recipes conform with Weston A. Price and Nourishing Tradition's guidelines, and many are also GAPS and Paleo compliant, with many gluten-free offerings. Some favorites include their delicious bone broths (especially chicken), casseroles, and soups and stews. They also make great cultured/fermented foods, including kvass, kombucha, pickled vegetables/krauts, and condiments. TSH also contracts with small farms and food vendors from Northern California, offering raw milks, organic pastured ​eggs, cheeses, meat, bread, lard, honey, and more, including beauty products. For a fee, TSH does weekly deliveries to homes in SF, the East Bay, and Marin. Just a warning, deliveries vary greatly in their arrival time from week to week. Fluctuations are caused by kitchen delays, number of customers ordering, traffic, etc. We had a delivery window of between 2 and 7pm, and it would usually be between 4 and 6 when our food arrived. Everything is packed with ice packs to keep perishables cold. Our delivery person was Miles, who we eventually gave a gate code for deliveries. He also picks up the last week's jars for sterilization/reuse. I hope to take a class in their kitchen one day. I love TSH!

Came here to check out their nourishing selection of food/skin stuffs and MAN! what an amazing place!! Bone broth, stews, soups, pates, granola, butter, kale chips, specially prepared dry nuts- they have it all! I love to come here most when I need to nourish a sick relative or friend w a new baby. They def make their food w tons of love and high quality ingredients. Love it!!

The communal/community kitchen was a concept beloved by hippies and derided mostly for its healthy but tasteless food. Three Stone Hearth is related to that tradition only by way of ancestry. TSH is a remarkable, revolutionary place whose mission is to not only make great food that nourishes the soul and the land but also to teach people around the country how to do the same in their towns and cities - and in the process, take some of the power out of the hands of the industrial food producers. The food is made by hand in small batches by an army of volunteers guided by any one of the five partners, depending on the task: Porsche Combash, Misa Koketsu, Jessica Prentice, Catherine Spanger, and Larry Wisch. Every ingredient has an identifiable source, and most products are grown within a 100 mile radius of the kitchen. The eggs are pastured, not just 'free range". Vegetables are organic and sustainable. Animal products are raised humanely and with great respect for the land they graze. The food is minimally processed. One of the best surprises is the range of beverages the kitchen produces - healthy fermented drinks that are a great alternative to the confusing array of 'adult' soft drinks found on most supermarket shelves. Every week there are a number of interesting beverages, from Douglas Fir-flavored coolers to Root Beer Coolers to traditional Kvass, a lightly fermented beverage from Eastern Europe that at TSH is made with fermented beets. The beverages are unusual but remarkable both from a health and taste perspective. This is truly virtuous food made by people who care - and have the talent to make it delicious.

Started going here a couple months ago. Good decision. I go every other week as yes, it is expensive. But for the quality nutritional meals one gets, you'd do well to make room in your 2010 tiny-ass budget. The reviews on here will give you plenty of reasons why supporting organic community kitchens are in your best interest. So, here's what I do: Get the the fresh stews or soups or rice dishes or whatever the specials are for the week. They usually cost $16 for a quart. When you get home, bake your own potato/steam your own veggies and you get a great meal for 2-4 peeps at about only $20. Totally doable. Well worth it compared to going out and dropping twice as much for far, far, less in nutrition. Their menus always have lots of choice. Their Beet Kvass is superb.

We have been coming to TSH for a couple of years now, so I am fairly certain I have sampled everything they have offered thus far...and kudos to them! Other Yelpers have clearly explained all the particulars regarding nutrition, integrity, community-supported kitchens, the Westin Price nutritional movement, and the taste. I probably cannot offer much more other than my food porn experience today....Yes, gluttony and lust have overwhelmed me once again, but since it's from TSH, at least I know these 2 of the supposed "7 Deadly Sins" are not so sinful, after all! If you need any more convincing other than what the other 8 reviews reveal, let me just say COCONUT FLAN....I make my own sometimes, I buy it when I'm at Market Hall, I try not to buy it at Tacubaya (but I am weak...and often succumb)...you get the idea. TSH makes theirs with Strauss milk, Summit Farm eggs, coconut milk, vanilla, some sea salt. and some sort of sugar..and I think that's about it! Packed in a glass container where I can see the caramel-y goodness swimming at the bottom...the creamy mid layer, and the heavy, thick coat of coconut goodness on top...Maybe other people don't get this excited about custard desserts, but this is simply the best around! Another tasty dessert these kind and talented folks make that I cannot get enough of would be the Rose Panna Cotta...romantic dessert at its' finest! Of course these sorts of indulgences force me to head off to the gym, but the ultra high quality, the integrity, and the local ingredients are not what I feel guilty about. No...it's my own indulgence which I have zero intention of foregoing! I cannot recommend the foods, classes, and information from Three Stone Hearth highly enough. Do yourselves a big favor & investigate them either on line or down at the kitchen, or through one of their Full Moon Feasts - you will be richly rewarded!

First off: this place is not a restaurant. It is not a food market. It is a subscription-only traditional-diet food community kitchen. That means no white flour, no white sugar and food that keeps you young and healthy. Anyone ever heard of Weston A. Price? If you haven't, you should read up. I am not sure why TSH is continuing to carry the Blue Pastures fermented cod liver oil since it has been confirmed that oil is rancid. Please check out www.cheeseslave.com for more proof on that.

I haven't had Three Stone Hearth's food yet, but I would just like to say that 1, the menu looks amazing and I wish I still lived in the Bay. 2, I arranged to give a credit to my friend's account for her birthday and she has since raved about their food! I got an extremely quick and helpful e-mail regarding the process and I am very happy with my choice of presents. I might just have to move back home just to try the food!

Thank goodness they moved in next door! Excellent food, a community organization that i really support. Also, i eat gluten free and they have great options. When I go to the farmer's market, I sometimes don't eat all the food I buy because i dont have time or creativity to prepare it from scratch. TSH provides the same local, sustainable ingredients but it is ready to eat!! Everyone was very helpful and genuine and the new location has lots of parking. and it is right next door to my house! hallelujah!

Incredible. Best of the bay area local organic ingredients, lovingly packaged so you can pick up prepared and semi-prepared foods...not so expensive it doesn't make sense as a "bridge meal"...meaning, we wanted to go out but instead had these intensely wonderful Marin Sun Farms lamb patties with pomegranate or this delicious peanut curry and Masa brown rice...and with no clean-up at home over a bottle of wine, still less than a dinner out and probably much better for you! Combine with a farmer's market run for greens and fruits...I find I only need head to Berkeley Bowl or Rainbow every few weeks. And I am feeling much less stressed and super happy about that. Plus, they are carrying raw milk now that Whole Foods (poo poo) dropped it. Also, their Beet Kvass is life changing! Give it a go, work it into your food budgets...its well worth it!

I live with chronic pain and fatigue and getting healthy meals can be difficult. Often too tired to cook (or shop) I used to end up nuking something frozen from Trader Joe's. As much as I love TJ's, let's face it, microwaved frozen entrees do not a healthy diet make so my naturopath recommended Three Stone Hearth. A new menu goes up every Thursday and you can order whatever you want. Pick-up is Weds night and Thursday 10-4. They also have delivery to the East Bay and Marin. The kitchen is on University Ave near Sacramento Street so pick up is pretty easy. The food is great. Healthy, organic, seasonal and locally sourced.This is the diet one SHOULD have if one has the time and energy to make it happen. Best of all, I feel better! Yes, it's pricey. But considering all the times I have had to toss food that I never got around to cooking it probably evens out. Check out the web site and give it a try.

A God Send for busy families wanting healthy, nutrient-dense meals. I am the proud mother of a 2.5 year old and a 6 month old. While I used to enjoy collecting recipes, leisurely strolling through the farmers market for inspiration, and spending hours in the kitchen, now I just don't have the time. With TSH, I can get several amazing dinners for my family AND fresh and healthy baby food for my tiny girl. (Big Dipper Rocks!) It's awesome that they deliver to Marin! And now at most dinner times, I can spend a fraction of the time at the stove and the rest of my time enjoying my kids and dinner guests. I know a lot of parents who depend on tv to get them through dinner prep. I just need Three Stone Hearth!

While I am your typical poor graduate student (at Cal) I make a point to order something from Three Stone Hearth every week. How good is it? I made this account just to give the place 5 stars. This is the type of food my grandparents used to make and still do in eastern Europe: delicious and nourishing.

Okay, it's expensive. But the food is oh. my. god. so. good. And it's made with love and total eco justice. The menu of prepared food changes weekly, but there are some staples available from week to week, and that's what I most often purchase. The people there are really lovely and caring. Highly recommended.

I love Three Stone Hearth and what it is doing. Their food tastes great, and it is what people are supposed to eat! Solid nutrition with pasture raised meats, eggs, organic vegetables, and no icky gluten! My only gripe is that they under spice a lot of their food to make it kid friendly. Well, that and it is pretty pricey. If you were to make your own dishes with pasture raised meat, you would probably be spending the same amount anyways. My favorite dishes: Black Bean Chili with Ground Beef (buy more than one!) Orangesicle Gelatina (or any Gelatina!) Chicken Liver Pate (I threw away the pork) Grassfed Beef, Chicken and Pork Broths (all are fantastic) Sweet Potato Custard (made my heart sing! I wish it wasn't seasonal) Mexican Chicken Soup (most soups are great) I have tried a few things that I didn't care for and didn't end up eating, and sometimes I buy one where I wished I bought four. It definitely takes some regular ordering to find out what you like. If you go into the store for pickup, they often have things to taste test to see if you want to buy it or order it for next time. Sometimes things are already sold out though, so be careful. I almost always really enjoy their casseroles and meaty pints! Dishes are sold in glass mason jars with a refundable deposit, so no bpa or waste! They also sell a lot of nutrient dense staples, that are fantastic! Great for those on the Paleo diet that don't have time to cook. They have many Paleo friendly dishes!

First, it's important to understand that this business has a philosophy of providing nutrient-dense foods made with pasture-raised meats, organic local produce, and properly prepared foods by soaking and sprouting grains, beans, and nuts. Many of the meals are gluten-free. This is also my dietary philosophy which requires a lot of time to prepare and procure these high quality foods. Since I have been busy lately, I decided to supplement my life with some prepared foods by Three Stone Hearth. It's awesome! They deliver the meals to me in San Francisco. Most of the soups and stews I eat with a salad or vegetables that I cook at home to make a more well-rounded meal in how I like to eat. I trust the food, the ingredients, and the business. I love supporting a worker-owned co-op that also supports small farms and local foods. The food is delicious. I like that it is flavorful without being overly salted or spicy. It is made well and it tastes really good. It's great if you have dietary restrictions like dairy-free or gluten-free since there are good options for meals made without these common allergens. I highly recommend Three Stone Hearth!
