Times Square Pizza is pretty much of an old time hole in the wall, dated in appearance both from the outside and within, pizza shop. But like the old time pizza shops has an operator speaking with an Italian accent, gracious and friendly, and turning out slices of pizza that sort of break the norm of what has become the chain standards of today. I went for two of their menu slices, one with toppings of spinach, anchovies and broccoli, the other with ground beef, eggplant and bacon. Indeed these topping combinations, once rather common, are now infrequently found. Matter of fact few, with the exception of the real Italian pizza shops, few even offer anchovies. That being one of the reasons that, if you look in the glove compartment of my car, you'll find cans of anchovies. LOL!
Though I can't say that the slices I had consisted of the best flavors I've experience, partially because of the fact that they start with an already prepared base, then add the toppings and heat it, I can say that the slices were two of the largest, most generous in size, I have ever been served.
Though rather drab in appearance, the kindly warmth of the staff along with nearby free parking more than offset any of those shortcomings.
Overall, Times Square Pizza makes for a pleasant enough stop for a pizza snack or meal as they also offer varying cold subs, hot subs, salads, a special homemade lasagna, a special Times Square platter of chicken parmigiana with stuffed shells, manicotti as well as a number of other offerings.
