"Timo has been a Sunny Isles favorite for Italian and Mediterranean cuisine since its opening in 2013. Chef Tim Andriola serves a rotating menu of pasta, fish, and brick-oven pizzas. Highlights include the bucatini pasta with Maine lobster ravioli carbonara and pancetta; porcini fettuccini with mushroom ragu; and steamed mussels and clams with roasted red peppers and sweet Italian sausage;. The restaurant also offers a daily vegetarian tasting menu during dinner service ($65)." - Juliana Accioly

"Sunny Isle’s vegan contender is offering three satisfying courses for those avoiding meat. Start with the beet tartare with avocado, mâche, and horseradish for a spicy kick to start. Next, opt for the cauliflower ‘risotto’ showcasing morel mushrooms and a red wine reduction. For a sweet ending, the Samoa cookie with coco-caramel sauce, dark chocolate, and coconut sorbet will hit the spot." - Stacy A. Moya

Timo is my happy place. I have to come here every time I’m in the Miami area (I live across the country). Every dish is simply amazing. Service also top notch.

Google
Our waiter was fantastic and gave us a little history of the old hotels of yesteryear. The art deco etc. Our service was Fantastic and our dinner was over the top a must go if your in Miami

UPDATE: Still same great restaurant, thank you for hosting every year! One of the best restaurants in Miami! We dined in yesterday for a quick dinner which ended up with a wonderful experience all together! The drink where phenomenal, high quality ingredients and special drink made by the restaurant. The food was delicious, carefully picked ingredients that tested our taste buds 🤩. And the deserts were just WOW! Olga took care of us and she is a great server and bartender! Ask for her if you go there! You won’t regret it!

Google
One of the most exceptional meals and experiences I have every had! We were a group of 6 and every dish was outstanding. One of our party has several dietary restrictions and the chef was incredibly accommodating, going as far as making a separate sauce base for her appetizer. Our server, Jonathan, was so warm and funny he felt like an old friend by the end of the evening.

Google
Great place , great service, good atmosphere Foie gras was amazing Mussels and clams amazing Drinks were good Calamari was not so good Did not get bread service Plates were not cleared between courses Entree linguine in squid in was good Friend had branzino said it was good Service was otherwise good and atmosphere was great Didn’t like that bar had only males but seems like this was a family place in general, so atmosphere was calm and overall positive Saw a wood fired stove Excited to go back and try the pizza "The staff was friendly and attentive throughout our meal." "We enjoyed the cozy interior and tasteful decor." "The dessert options were tempting, and we couldn't resist trying the tiramisu, which was absolutely delicious." "The restaurant had a lively ambiance with soft background music playing." "The prices were reasonable, considering the quality of the food and service."

Google
Lovely restaurant with attentive staff! Our waiter was on point! Wooden oven baked pizza! Discovered a nice pinot noir. The stuffed eggplant is a must 😄 Generous portion, def recommend! Just a thing, maybe adjust the platting for the table to fit when people share appetizers and all

Vivian M.

Yelp
Love love this place Specially the meat The stuff was very friendly and service There were not that many people that day which is good thing. It was Sunday evening

Lindsay Y.

Yelp
We had an absolutely lovely dinner this evening. We had a group of 7 and it can certainly be challenging finding a restaurant where everyone enjoys their meal, but thankfully, we found Timo! A few of our favorite items were: The seafood pasta with Calabrian chili - very delectable with perfectly prepared seafood and a close second was the flaky salmon with broccoli and gnocchi. We also had the lamb and goat cheese pizza, a margarita pizza, the gem lettuce salad with Cacio e pepe dressing (yum) and the pork osso bucco. I will definitely be coming back sooner than later.

Anne C.

Yelp
Beautiful ambiance, delicious food and great service every time we return. The. Have a great permanent menu and many daily specials.

Ken D.

Yelp
Excellent service, delicious food and a quiet atmosphere to enjoy a nice date. This was a good stop -- we will return.

Joy S.

Yelp
A very warm and welcoming place in Sunny isles. The ambience was great. The service was excellent as well as the meal. Will definitely be there again

Yelp
I have celebrated at Timo with amazing dinners and boutique wines. The bar is also a great vibe for drinks and food and even to catch the Heat game.

John R.

Yelp
The summary of my experience here would really be two fold--a quality of menu selections normally associated with a more pretentious atmosphere combined with an owner that really cares about service. This combination made for a wonderful night of food and conversation. I had a chance to add some new Italian craft beers to my belt and for the food we shared some appetizers to start and then sampled a few entrées around the table though I was not giving up the bulk of the foie gras ravioli that was on special which I had for my main meal. The CARBONARA PIZZA WITH HOUSE CURED PANCETTA, BECHAMEL & CARAMELIZED ONIONS was truly outstanding. I tried the MEZZI RIGATONI CARBONARA WITH SPINACH, PEAS, PANCETTA, BLACK PEPPER AND POACHED FARM EGG which was excellent but the ravioli special I had along with another pasta special were a notch better. Though there was dessert at the table I passed on having any and also ended up taking half of my ravioli home to enjoy the next day. As a side note there is parking in the back which might be the best place to try first before going through the limited spaces in front and then having to circle around if there is nothing open.

Robert P.

Yelp
Overpriced establishment with less than mediocre food, nearly complete lack of service, borderline rude wait staff, very uncomfortable crumped dining room.

S D.

Yelp
The food and wine here is delicious! Excellent service and very accommodating to children even though it's a fancy restaurant! I would have given 5 stars but I thought the fish special $68 was overpriced for a small piece but that's our fault for not asking and ordering. Would be back here for sure and ask pricing before ordering the DELICIOUS specials.

Donato G.

Yelp
We were recommended to come to this place by multiple people so we decided to give it a shot. The atmosphere was really nice and the staff were really accommodating. We ordered an appetizer and two meals. All I can say is we were very disappointed the food was all microwaved. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone that know actually knows Italian food it's not worth the money. The drinks were good but when you pay over 200$! For two people you expect great fresh food and this isn't it. I was very disappointed that so many people made this a recommendation. To be fair I'm born and raised in the North end in Boston we are known for our Italian cuisine. I don't like bashing a business I just can't get behind spending hundreds of dollars on frozen microwaved food. Do your self a favor and try somewhere else and save the money.

Rhonda M.

Yelp
My husband and I went to this restaurant last night. The staff was great. We ordered the Caesar salad which was edible. I ordered a Penne pasta that was un edible I sent it back,. my husband ordered one of their specials, black ink pasta with seafood. It had absolutely no flavor and the seafood was ice cold inside. I don't know how this restaurant stays in business.

Christopher D.

Yelp
This wasn't just dinner, it was an experience! We'll be back very soon!! Amazing food, service and wine list.

Eduardo W.

Yelp
Stay away. Extremely overpriced, bad food and abusive: if you ask for water they give you a $9 bottle without asking, they also include a 20% tip. Years ago I went to this restaurant and it was good, that's why I came back. Big mistake: The food is bland and the service well meaning but unprofessional. It seems that the operation is not from a normal restaurant but from a money laundering business.

Melissa H.

Yelp
My husband and I just finished eating here. Timo's is easy to access, with parking available. The interior is very well styled and appointed. Now to the good part-- the service was impeccable; the food was excellent. I had the butternut squash soup to start- wonderful presentation and taste-highly recommend-- followed by the black grouper on a winter squash-ample portion and excellent texture and taste. My husband started off with the gem lettuce salad and said it was quite good, followed by the skirt steak with chimmichuri--he said best he's had. Server was continually attentive without being overbearing--very professional and courteous. From start to finish, all was excellent about Timo's. Don't overlook this gem of a restaurant in Sunny Isles!

Carolina F.

Yelp
I was bullied and attacked by the manager. What a terrible service!!! We didn't get the food on time, everyone get their food on a different time. We order a seafood pasta that was extremely spicy and we just want to tell the chef that it was like this and the server, Carlos and the manager didn't take our feedback in a good way, they were very rude, they told us a lot times that we didn't have de reason and at the end he hit the table very hard. Please check the cameras, they were extremely rude, we felt attacked. I left there terrified.

Vera B.

Yelp
Although the food is good, we were unable to enjoy it because the level of noise was so high that we couldn't maintain a conversation or even comment on the food with my partner. To me if a restaurant is not careful about this significant detail, it's not worth going back. I go to a restaurant to meet with friends and eat. The ambience makes it joyful or not inviting to come back. Food alone is only 50% of enjoyment. If we can't talk because the noise level is too high, the purpose of eating out with friends is completely defeated.

Jackson W.

Yelp
I've been to Timo quite a few times over the year, I don't live in Florida, so when I do come down it's always a highlight. The food couldn't be better and the staff of the friendliest around. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an amazing meal in the Miami area

Paloma P.

Yelp
The food was great! We'll be back very soon. If you had personal delivery directly on your website the experience would be even better, consider partnership with https://www.palomapos.com/online-ordering :)

Andrea B.

Yelp
Horrific! I would never ever ever recommend. My family is born and raised in Italy and what a shit show. If you go to this place you're stupid. LOL get the grilled Octopus... you can't even find it! I'm not kidding, and the bar tender has an attitude. Also don't for get the 20%tip they add on! $75 dollars for grilled octopus that did not exist and a wine flight. 120% pass

Bill E.

Yelp
Used to be good food. Cutting corners lately. Produce not fresh, you can feel it, prices-feels like trying to get you, not transparent about price change with dish modification, its unfortunate, will avoid moving forward.

Teri A.

Yelp
Love this place ! Casual environment , great service , terrific staff and vibes... then the food ! Outstanding ! The attention to every detail in obvious and you would expect to pay more and be in a stuffier restaurant A must go to

Mary H.

Yelp
I hosted a dinner for 40 people mostly from out of town who traveled to attend my son's wedding. The amazing staff at Timo served us a delicious meal from the pizza, to the appetizers, to the main dish and of course desert. Not one of the 40 guests had a single complaint. They were extremely accommodating.

Galina A.

Yelp
Super delicious food! This restaurant is right next to my building, and I went to get pizza for kids, was very surprised that all food s an amazing quality, delicious and super fresh ! Great team as well! Everything was prepared quick even though it was busy ! Highly recommended !

Allana G.

Yelp
I wanted to love this place. The food, ambience, anything. I STILL want to love Timo and plan to give it another try, but when my husband and I took out an important business client (also considering we live across the street), I was sadly underwhelmed by the food, ambience, & service. Our server in general was phenomenal and I feel awful for not remembering his name.. but he was over sat, so drink & food orders were pretty slow to come out, the tables are close together so people are constantly bumping into the back of your chair, or in my case, children running behind me constantly, it was pretty dark in the restaurant so it was difficult for someone whose hard of hearing to be able to make out the words across the table of a loud, dark restaurant, and the food was simply, meh. From a northern Italian, and her Sicilian husband, for people to tell us this is the best Italian food & restaurant around was disheartening. Praying they can redeem themselves when I decide to give this place another chance.

Bert H.

Yelp
One of the very best restaurants in the Aventura Miami Area!. A very can't wait to return to. TOPS,

Ron R.

Yelp
Though is a small strip mall, you wouldn't no. Elegant restaurant with terrific tasting food. We can always count on a great meal and service.

Yelp
Highlights: * Best Neighborhood Italian-Mediterranan Restaurant you may never have heard of * Friendly servers who go the extra mile * Talented Chef/Owner graduate of the esteemed Culinary Institute of America Over the past 17 years I have dined at Timo off and on on about 20 occasions. I've always been pleased. It's tucked into a mini strip mall on Colins Avenue's west side. You would think with all of the multi million condos in the area there would be lots of fine dining options, the reality is most of the dining in the area is average at best. Timo is better than average. and it's 17 year tenure proves it. First of all you get a talented Chef. Most students who graduate from the top cooking school in the US, and top of their class, like Tim Antriola of Timo, want to work in Michelin Star restaurants and then try to open their own. Most of your local restaurants have Chefs who come and go and your Italian cooking it done by someone who never went to cooking school, let alone who ever worked in or even visited Italy. Tim, who had an Italian grandfather and a father in the restaurant business spent a summer working in Rome before stints with top South Florida Chef's of the past like Allen Susser, where he spent 7 years running Chef Allen's kitchen and 3 years working for Mark Milatello at Mark's South Beach before partnering with fellow FIU School of Hospitality Management graduate Rodrigo Martinez to open Timo in 2004. He also has a Bachelor's and Masters from the FIU School of Hospitality Management in addition to his CIA credentials, and has won a number of awards. Tonight was actually our second dinner, yea we eat a lot, we had an earlier dinner at 5 pm before an event and by 9:30 were a little hungry again. At 9:30 on Saturday evening I has happy for Timo's to have a full house but we managed to get a table to two. I would highly recommend reservations on weekends. Since we already ate we decided to eat "lite" tonight. We had the Beef Carpaccio with Marinated King Oyster Mushrooms and shaved Piave Cheese, very tasty with a kind of honey mustard sauce with the usual Arugula. Be sure to ask about specials, there are usually a number of great specials in addition to the regular menu. We saw some clams and mussels floating around the restaurant which come with one of the entree fish specials and asked if we could have some clams as an appetizer dish. The servers at Timo are always so accommodating that they put together a plate of clams sautéed in wine wine and garlic for us, a nice lite dish, and served with a delicious slice of parmigiana reggiano crusted bread. We let our eyes get ahead of our stomachs and should not have ordered anything else, remember we had already eaten, but we love the Bucatini with Lobster, and it did not disappoint. The delicious creamy carbonara dish with fresh Maine lobster was worth the extra pounds, and we slept well that night. Timo's has an interested and eclectic wine list and connoisseurs with wine cellars are allowed to bring their own wine for $25 per bottle (no box wine please), if you order one of their bottles they will even waive the corkage on one of yours. If you're in Sunny Isles be sure to try Timo's.

Kelly B.

Yelp
Another Miami spice adventure at a restaurant I probably would not have known about otherwise! Timo is a beautifully decorated spot, tucked in a strip mall in Sunny Isles. A few stand out things about this restaurant, they have parking in the small lot in front of the restaurant, as well as what appears to be parking in the back, although that spot was full when we arrived. The free bread is definitely something to write home about, with a delicious soft version, and a super thin crunchy part, which reminds me a bit of very thin long pita chips. We started with a glass of prosecco which was one of the options for a free drink w the Miami spice menu. You could also choose from negroni or aperol spritz. We cautiously chose the rabbit with gnocchi and the grilled peaches for our appetizers, and were very pleasantly surprised! We were a little unsure about eating rabbit but it was very flavorful and the gnocchi were delicious. I would have loved a little more stracciatella with the peaches but the overall flavor of that dish was complex and satisfying. Next, it was on to the entrees of pork and fish. I really wanted to love the branzino dish, as the fish and clams were very tasty, but the sauce, peppers and chickpea portion fell a little flat on the flavor. The flavor that could not be denied was in the Porchetta dish, with a very savory sauce and loads of flavor in the pork itself. Although this dish can feel quite fatty for some, the fat gave the actually meat immense flavor! I was also a fan of the olives, potatoes and artichokes, which soaked up that awesome sauce. For dessert, the affogato was like a little show, with the coffee being poured into a small dark chocolate cup that was placed on top of the cup w ice cream. The Nutella bar was extra rich and creamy, with am excellent crunch at the bottom. I would like to give the restaurant a 3.5 for total time to receive all of our different courses. We were greeted by an extremely friendly woman at the front when we arrived and had nice interactions with different staff while we were there, but I would describe the server who assisted us as average or maybe the slightest bit above. Not sure if we would return for a full meal on a day where Miami spice was not being offered, although we did enjoy some of the dishes, not sure if it would be worth the drive or the prices.

Chase F.

Yelp
The food was incredible. We vacation to Miami a few times a year and this is always the first stop, there's a gentleman always there working the entire room (I assume the owner) and he along with everyone are wonderful! They truly care about making you feel at home and the food is out of this world. GO!

Tiffany M.

Yelp
Only had drinks here but staff was friendly and drinks were strong. Very busy and bustling place and food looked good so would come back to try that!

Matthew P.

Yelp
February 2023 - Don't let the location in a small strip mall turn you away, terrific find. Food is very good with generous portions. In our most recent visit, the Grilled Veal Sweetbreads and the Squid Ink Seafood Risotto were outstanding. Very nice list of Italian wines (reasonable markups). Professional and attentive service. Nice dining room and a lively bar area. It is one of our go-to places whenever we visit Sunny Isles!

Faina L.

Yelp
The food was good to outstanding. Loved mushroom soup and scallops! The service was very good and friendly. The only thing we did not like was that the outside tables are right next to the parked cars as everything is so crowded and tight in the area. Food is a fusion with a lot of Italian (obviously).

Shannon C.

Yelp
This was an awesome find. It is easy to overlook in a strip mall. I had the swordfish and caponata. The swordfish was perfectly cooked and fresh. The caponata was absolutely one of the best dishes I have had. Finished with the coconut cheesecake. It is not like a heavy NY cheesecake. More like thick whip cream with grated coconut. It also came with a scoop of tart passion fruit sorbet and coconut jelly. Again another awesome dish. Definitely worth a try.

Dean C.

Yelp
This restaurant is consistently first class. Drinks, starters, entrees, and service is consistently great. Brian is one of the owners/managers and he could not be nicer and more willing to help in any capacity. It is never too noisy so easy to talk. A strong recommendation is the beet salad, branzino, and coconut cheesecake. This restaurant will not disappoint you!

Alyssa C.

Yelp
This place is pricey but definitely worth the money! The menu is limited but they have a lot of daily specials that the waiter will review with you. We all loved our entrees and dessert! We had the Lamb Belly, Ribeye and Carbonara Pizza which were all amazing!! Highly recommend.

Natalie R.

Yelp
excellent food and atmosphere, we ordered the steak, truffle pizza and foie gras. they have a large selection of wine-- it was truly delicious

Rita R.

Yelp
Everything about Timo Restaurant is fabulous, the atmosphere, the service, wine selection and of course, the best best food in Miami. Possibly the best in the U.S. I recommend going here when you visit Miami, even if you are staying many miles away- because it is worth the drive. If you live in Miami and have never been - what are you waiting for???

Rich S.

Yelp
Five star dining at $$$ price point. Very good food and service to match. The ambiance is beautiful.

Anastasia G.

Yelp
Doesn't look so fancy from outside. Kind of cozy with pizza oven I the back. Beets salad and sea bass were delicious. Water was very nice and professional.

Vinnie G.

Yelp
Timo never seems to disappoint. The food is always amazing. The service is second to none... From Brian and Tamara at host, to Jonathan, Gary, Chuck, et all serving, and Olga at the bar, it always feels like home when I'm there. Tonight I started with the ROASTED MOZZARELLA WITH PROSCIUTTO, SWEET PEPPERS, EGGPLANT AND HEIRLOOM TOMATO, and then had the YELLOWTAIL SNAPPER WITH CLAMS, SHRIMP, and ORZO for the entree. They were both amazing as usual. Olga then sold me on the STRAWBERRY PANA COTTA dessert, which really topped on my taste buds for the night. They have also recently completed some upgrades. All the chairs in the bar area have been replaced, and the front windows can now be completely opened for fresh air during reasonable temperatures. You just can't go wrong with whatever you choose here. I highly recommend.

Susan S.

Yelp
I love it the best food people r really great. I love their pizza and the food is all up scale, is the best I ever ever had.

Maria Camila S.

Yelp
I am a local. I have eaten in Timo twice. First time was amazing and our server was super kind. Great service. For the second time it wasn't that great. Server was super rude in the beginning. My mother and I were kind of shocked of how rude he was being. (I assumed because we did not order alcohol or the most expensive plates, I don't know. Sometimes people are rude just because). I think someone overheard us talking about it or something because all of a sudden he changed his attitude. We left him a good tip because we know that being a server is hard work. But I am considering to not coming back to this restaurant. It was pretty uncomfortable. Being kind is free and this restaurant isn't cheap for being treat that way.

Carol K.

Yelp
Why is it that some of the best restaurants in Florida are located in these non descript strip malls? Well such is the case of Timo. I almost drove past it as it is sitting in a little strip mall. While there is limited parking in the front, pull around back as there is a huge parking lot! On this Saturday night, we started our evening at the bar with some perfectly poured drinks. Even better were the locals who were friendly and chatting with us while we caught up. It was great that it wasn't too busy as we were never rushed to go to our table. Once seated, our server was great in explaining the menu and the various specials of the day. I started with this amazing english pea bisque with crab meat. Wow! Thick and creamy but not heavy, this goes in my book as one of my favorite starters. As for my entree- I went with the NY strip that was quite food and I loved the creamy polenta that went along with it. They have a nice wine list with some of our favs on it so that made wine choosing easy. And they have a range of desserts but after all that food a simple gelato fit the bill perfectly. All in all a nice evening out in Sunny Isles.

Erika M.

Yelp
The food is average, tasteless, however on the other hand the service is excellent. Ambiance is nice and the place is clean.

Kevin P.

Yelp
Always come to Timo when in town and it's always consistent. Wish they had a few more entree options. Well keeping coming back. 4.25 stars.

Suf L.

Yelp
This place was yummy. Locals complained about not having the oysters or mushroom salad - the chef changed up the menu, but everything was to our liking. We got the skirt steak, brussel sprouts, scallops, Caesar, pear salad and pizza. The steak was a very healthy portion, and the huge steak cut fries were more than anyone could handle. It would be nice if there was a vegetable served with it so we didn't have to order two separately. The scallops were cooked well. They had an appetizer version, and they could make it an entree portion, which was nice. Something is preventing me from giving 5 stars, and I think it was the pizza I ordered. I got the black and white pizza, which had shaved truffles on it. However, I think they would have been better off just topping the pizza with some truffle oil because those little pieces didn't do anything for me and were concentrated all on one spot of the pizza.

Sholeh S.

Yelp
My review is in the picture! I wrote a detailed review on Open Table! We had an awful experience! One of the staff in the kitchen had a mask that was not covering his nose.

Marcia E.

Yelp
I just moved to the area and found this place walking and what a nice experience! We ordered the pizza and besides the excellent service, the pizza was delicious!! This place will be my restaurant to go for sure ! Sorry no pictures because we ate everything so fast kkkk

Anne E.

Yelp
Best Italian ever. They should have a Michelin star based on the food. The service is amazing.

Gaby D.

Yelp
Just had dinner here while on vacation and truly was very impressed. The food was delicious!! We had the fois gras OMG!, scallops, mushroom truffle risotto, pizza, branzino, Chilean sea bass special and a couple other things. Everything was phenomenal. The dessert was INSANE and I had the best coconut sorbet of my life. Lastly, the experience was made even more amazing because of the staff. Wow. Above and beyond from the Check in to our waiter and everyone working there. We got cold so they moved us outside with no issue whatsoever and didn't make us feel like an imposition. Thank you can't wait to visit on all our trips here!
