"If you only budget for one splurge meal in Puerto Vallarta, make it a memorable one at this restaurant situated next to the Rio Cuale. Raised in Vallarta, chef-owner Joel Ornelas draws from his roots to create the constantly evolving menu, emphasizing locally sourced seafood, meat, dairy, and vegetables with impeccable technique-driven dishes. Ornelas’s greatest hits include an esquite made from blue, yellow, and white heirloom corn fortified with huitlacoche and cooked like a risotto (like the most extravagant street corn that you’ll ever have), a ponzu aguachile with uni that’s chock full of shellfish, and a quesadilla stuffed with sesos (brains) and more huitlacoche that becomes the main act the moment it hits your table. Tintoque also has an outstanding weekend brunch with pan dulce freshly baked by pastry chef Irving Leíja. Keep an eye out for collaboration dinners with other chefs from around Mexico." - Paola Briseño-González

⭐️⭐️Must visit this restaurant when in Puerto Vallarta!!! ⭐️⭐️ From the ambience, to the service, to the food. Tintoque is by far the most incredible restaurant I have eaten at in PV. The burrata was outstanding, and the fish kebab was one of the most delicious things I've ever tasted.

Tintoque is pretty close to getting a Michelin! Their food is always top notch. Everything is thought out, prepared to perfection, cocktails are wonderful. Service is always as good as it gets and the views on the patio are great. Don’t hesitate to book a lunch or dinner with Tintoque!

Google
We did the tasting menu with wine pairing and were really pleased with the experience. There were a couple dishes or a couple elements of dishes that we thought slightly missed the mark, but overall were extremely happy with the meal. The wine pairing being all Mexican wines was really cool as well, who knew there is Mexican sake! David, our waiter, was extremely kind and a pleasure to chat with over the course of the night. While delicious and certainly upscale, it also didn’t feel pretentious at all, which we greatly appreciated. The food is approachable and delicious and we would recommend to anyone!

Google
This was our “fancy” dinner of our trip. We tried the tasting menu and had 2 drinks, which cost us around $137/pp before tip. The tasting menu comes with 9 courses of small bites. We really enjoyed most of the tastings but 3-4 had interesting flavors that didn’t taste as good to us. We were satisfied by the end of the course but personally felt that the price was a little bit more expensive than what it was worth. Ambiance was nice and very romantic overlooking the river.

Google
Made reservations for tintoque for Valentine’s Day. They had a prefixed tasting menu 9 courses for 2,100 pesos per person without wine pairings or tips. We sat on the terrace overlooking the river. Ambiance was great, the food was creative and great. The proportions seemed a bit small even for a tasting menu. We were there for 3 full hours lolol. It was an amazing time though !

Google
Just WOW! This is a very high end and excellent restaurant in Puerto Vallarta. If you are looking for a fine dining experience with an excellent tasting menu, look no further. Everything was excellent - top restaurant in PV for sure!

Google
Tintoque is a not a casual restaurant it is a dining experience. The tasting menu is 9 courses served over a two hour time period and should you choose to add the wine pairing you won't be disappointed. All wines and courses were thoroughly explained by the staff. The A La Carte menu portions are well worth the price as everyone in our party couldn't finish their mains. The service staff listened and informed us of which dishes were available for the ones of us that had allergies and even offered options for dishes to omit allergens. As I had a view of the kitchen area I never once saw the Chefs stressed proving they knew what they were doing and adding to the calm relaxed atmosphere.

Google
Incredible experience! We did the chef's taste testing including wine pairing. Absolutely amazing food (and presentation)! If you are cheap, this is not the place for you. If you want a fine dining experience with an incredible menu and experience, this is definitely the place for you. Hope to return each visit and see whats new by the chef. 5-star rating all around!

Yelp
We went here for my birthday. This was one of the best meals i have ever had. The ambiance was perfect and the service was spectacular. The prices were great too. We started with 2 specialty cocktails that were delicious. Our appetizers were a tostada with fresh tuna tartar and a mushroom wrapped enchilada. Both were fantastic. My husband had the fried chicken and i had the catch of the day. We loved them both. We shared a sticky pudding for dessert. We will definitely go back when we return to Puerto Vallarta.

Yelp
Born in Puerto Vallarta, but globally trained, Chef Joel Ornelas' Tintoque offers indigenous Ingredients with a wide range of inspirations in a riverside room with the sort of service befitting Michelin-starred eateries in Asia and Europe. Offered as a tasting or a la carte experience, the latter well-suited to large groups willing to share, Tintoque opened in 2016 and has frequently been cited as one of the best Restaurants in Mexico by publications including Guia Mexico Gastronomico ever since. A white-tablecloth space with an open kitchen, high ceilings and tiles magnifying sounds but never too loud, it is with a focus on local Spirits that Cocktails take on lot of complexity that pairs well to opening flavors such as two types of Fish Tostada including faultless Bluefin in Peanut Adobo. Intrigued by "High Fermentation" Bread, essentially toasted Sourdough adjacent aged Butter, a Bean and Cheese Tamale with Mushrooms also fared well while Marlin Kebabs unfortunately got a little lost in assertive Tzatziki and Feta. Better with Fried Chicken in something akin to Bravas Sauce, as well as Grilled Amberjack not unlike Steak in its taste and texture, Ornelas' Esquites seek to steal the spotlight despite their vegetarian nature thanks to Mushrooms and Cheese. Agreeable to offering a Tasting Menu addition a la carte, Bone Marrow Custard, Beef Fat Caramel and Foie Gras mesmerizing beneath a shard of Sugar, Cream Cheese Pudding exceeds expectations while Toffee Pudding served as a Donut is benefited by a scoop of housemade Ice Cream.

Yelp
The ambiance was really nice - tucked away on a balcony overlooking the river. The tasting menu was amazing and definitely michelin star quality. It wasn't even that expensive either! Overall, well worth it, and there were definitely a few dishes that blew our tastebuds and mind away. (The 36hour roasted tomato, for example) Our waiter was also great, and you could tell he was really proud to work there. He knew about the menu and the restaurant and provided great service

Yelp
Stellar Mexican fine dining in a small boutique like elegant space with such creative dishes and complex flavors. 4.25 stars Food: 4.5 stars Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4 Cost to worth it rating: 3 (expensive, but high quality food) Opentableable: yes Return worthiness: maybe, only with true fine dining fans Eve award: best Mexican Asian pork fusion dish Highlights: - Piglet cheek with red curry agua chile and fresh coconut: one of the best dishes I've had in a long time. So many layers of complex flavors and texture. Acid for tang, slight heat, smoothness of the large fresh coconut slices, tenderness of the small pork pieces, and some crunch with thin daikon and peppers. Divine. 5 stars - Chicken Milanese with tomatillo pomodoro: super crispy textured exterior yet well cooked chicken interior. Loved the light green tomatillo sauce. 4.5 stars - Grilled fish with chiles: several pieces of fresh snapper that was incredible. Accompanying broth like flavors were mild to last the fish shine. 4.5 stars - Cocktails: all very different and I got one with crispy bacon that was light and not too sweet I really enjoyed. 4.5 stars - Sticky toffee pudding: not at all expecting this on a menu in Mexico but it was a favorite of the table. 4.5 stars - Amuse: believe was a tuna based item on a soft piece of toast and a nice lime flavor. 4 stars - Breads: fluffy sourdough, croissants, and pita breads were part of our meal and they were all fantastic. In the extra great order there was one with fennel that didn't seem necessary as the pure flavors were good as is. 4 stars - Corn truffle cheese: a main item that was rich but so delightful and the truffle took the backseat to the corn which I loved. Hard black bits in that I found hard to eat. 4 stars - Burrata: creamy hefty ball of burrata with croissants on the side. 4 stars - Dining space: elegant small dining room with high ceilings and a patio with lights next to a bit of water. Open kitchen which seemed to run smoothly. - Wine: we got a bottle of Malbec that was delicious, a glass of French champagne, and glasses of port. Midlights: - Short rib: most expensive item on the menu and was just ok. Not too tender or full of flavor. Also the other side of the large bone had a sausage that wasn't on the menu or explained to us so not sure if that was an impromptu change. 3 stars - Bluefin tuna tostada: crispy corn topped in tons of green herbs and some hidden spicy raw peppers. Fish was cooked in a tuna adobo to put on top. First few bites were fine but ended up being too spicy for my friend and I to continue eating. 3 stars - Sizing is a bit misleading as the starters and first and a decent size and the mains are portioned for many. - Accommodations for pickier eaters: I researched prior to coming for their approach to making accommodations to the menu especially for younger ones since my son is so picky and recognized it's fine dining. Many past diners wrote reviews noting the staff was happy to create items for them which led me to feel ok booking the restaurant. My son is 13 so not a child and when I saw chicken on the menu I asked if it was possible to create a version plain without sauce. The waiter declined then directed me to order the fish, but he doesn't eat seafood. He then resigned to reluctantly ask the chef. My son ended up getting chicken breast and was happy with it so glad it ended up working out. Lowlights: - Service was spotty for this level of establishment: a very long time to get our last course, tried to give us a different tables' cocktails, and when asked if there was anything they were able to make plain for my son he just said a curt "no." San Francisco prices I wasn't quite expecting though we did over-order as all plates were larger than expected to share. Bill was ~$250 per person and mid-range wines were $200. - Chocolate cake bites as last parting item was dry and lacked flavor which was a sad ending to a stellar meal. Ended up enjoying our meal as the food was outstanding but a few things during our experience fell a bit short.

Yelp
Tintoque, tucked away in an unassuming neighborhood of Puerto Vallarta, exceeded our expectations in every way. Upon making a reservation, we were promptly seated and given the option to dine outside with a captivating water view or inside, which we chose to avoid any potential bug encounters. To kick off our evening, we ordered a dry gin martini that was nothing short of extraordinary. We complemented our meal with a delightful bottle of Cabernet from Mexico. The menu at Tintoque offers two enticing options: a tasting menu, priced at around 2100 pesos or à la carte. Opting for the latter, we embarked on a culinary journey that left us spellbound. The evening commenced with an amuse-bouche - delicate mushrooms delicately perched on a chip. Our appetizers, the otoro and tomato dishes, were revelations of flavor and presentation. The otoro, blended high-quality fish and perfectly seasoned sushi rice that melted in our mouths. The tomato dish was a triumph, disguising the fruit as a delectable dessert. A must-try! The only minor disappointment was the bread, toasted when we'd preferred it not to be. Moving on to the second course, we selected the octopus and dumplings, both of which were exceptional. The octopus, tender and plentiful, was served with piping-hot, fluffy pita bread and a delicious sauce that left us craving more. The dumplings were a flavor explosion, and the addition of fried shrimp heads provided a delightful crunch. Our taste adventure was so fulfilling that we couldn't find room for a main course. We concluded our evening with a sticky toffee pudding that was pure decadence - a soft, sumptuous cake paired with tart ice cream, showcasing Tintoque's creative flair. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff ensuring our every need was met. The ambiance, with dimly lit surroundings and well-spaced tables, was romantic and inviting. The only minor quibble was the air conditioning, which could have been better directed away from diners. Tintoque is a gem in Puerto Vallarta's dining scene, a place where culinary artistry meets warm hospitality. It's an experience worth savoring

Yelp
This was probably our one "nice" meal when we were in PV. We made advance reservations online, which was easy enough. The restaurant itself has lovely and hip. Minimalistic. There's indoor seating (with AC) or there's outdoor seating on the patio with lovely little lights and surroundings. We each did the tasting menu, which included "snacks," 6 courses, pre-dessert, and then desserts. The tasting menu was $2,106 (pesos) per person, which is about $116 (USD) a person. All the food was lovely and delicious. Bc it's a course menu, keep in mind that the food is bite sized pieces and that they are brought out in a measured tempo. You will get full, but just give it some time. With each dish, the staff explained what was in the dish and instructions on how to eat it. We also did one wine pairing to share for $1,500 (pesos), which is about $83 (USD) a person. A barrage of white wine came out for the most part. I think there was only 1 red wine that came out. With tip, our meal came out to about $375-$400 (USD). Just letting you know since I was a bit shocked that our meal would be that expensive in Mexico... However, it is technically much cheaper than tasting menus in the States. Overall: Lovely, kind staff. Good food. I'd recommend if you're looking for a nice restaurant in PV outside your resort/hotel. However, keep in mind the price!

Brandi K.

Yelp
A friend visiting from San Diego wanted to go to a fine dining restaurant for seafood. This restaurant was chosen for multiple reasons, but they have great AC so that was good enough for me. Perusing the menu there are some really fun options and some interesting for sure. The first thing I noticed was how incredibly expensive everything was. I get it... you're all on vacation coming here with your vacation budget, but some of us actually live here and we're most certainly not on $120 USD dinner budgets, thanks. Everyone chose an appy and a main and then we shared a dessert. I stuck to water and la tuba while friends selected some cocktails. There were 5 of us and our bill at the end of the night was $700 USD. That's absolutely asinine for Puerto Vallarta. Was the food good? Yes, but certainly not $120 good.

Brandon T.

Yelp
The food, atmosphere and service were absolutely incredible. I really enjoyed the tasting menu, and having tried quite a few, this was light, innovative and fun. Five stars

Thuy N.

Yelp
Our group visited Tintoque after hearing all the hypes about it from friends and others that went to PV for so many times. The atmosphere is nice and cozy, which also has a vintage vibe that is suitable for family and friends gathering. The price is pretty expensive imo, but the dishes are not that special. My bf and I ordered a la carte with the bread + butter, dumpling, flat bread, and the lamp for main course. All the other dishes are normal and not worth the price, but their lamp is outstanding. There are complementary small bites from the chef; we got one for starter and another for dessert. The portion here is big, especially the lamb which can feed up to 4 people. We would come back here for the lamb!!!

Matthew F.

Yelp
We were visiting PV last week and had a group of 6 who dined here. We all did the tasting menu with wine pairing and it was an incredible meal. We would definitely come back and either do the a la carte meal or the tasting again. Incredible meal and service!

Sean C.

Yelp
WOW! Tintoque is an awesome experience in Puerto Vallarta. If you have the time, this place is not to miss! The experience, from start to finish, was superb. First, I tried a drink that was topped with chopped walnuts - it was the best alcoholic drink I have ever had. From there, we were torn about the tasting menu, but opted to make our own menu, which did not disappoint. Both appetizers were incredible; we had the empanada and the scallops. I almost opted to swap my entree for more of them. If you can only choose one, be sure to grab the scallops. For dinner, both entrees were stunningly amazing. My pork enchilada was one of the best I have ever had. Even as I expected excellence, I was not let down by the food. A quick scoop of lavender ice cream rounded us out - definitely a perfect moment to lead us out into the night.

Ried S.

Yelp
Phenomenal, Michelin-star worthy cuisine tucked away in a quiet corner of Zona Romantica. Simply spectacular. Chic setting in a former house, but you immediately notice how formal the rest of the night will play out by the wine glasses and white table cloths. The servers conducted themselves very professionally, as if trained in 5-star hotels. We all opted for the tasting menu and there were zero regrets. Every course was a delicious surprise that plays with your palette. Too many good ones to name - I also am horrible about remembering the specifics going into a tasting menu. I'll let the pictures do most of the talking. One special call out was desert - they brought a piece of fois gras covered in chocolate that was TO DIE FOR - it was the most Louis XVI bite of food I'll ever have - no wonder his lost his head. Highly, highly recommend to any foodies or those who appreciate haute cuisine. The only shame is the location away from Punta Mita - otherwise I'd be sending clients here without question. I guess for those of us who come to PV, it's all "Winner, winner Tintoque dinner."

Angy M.

Yelp
Overall, the restaurant ambiance is pleasant. We were seated outside for dinner. The downside is that we were right next to the restrooms. The tables are extremely close together making it impossible to not hear all conversations around you. We opted to share several first, second, and main courses in order to try to accommodate a couple of picky eaters. The quality of the food is good. The menu itself just seems like the chef is trying too hard. Some items are very plain (bread and oil), some are Mexican inspired (blue fin tuna "tostada" and esquite), and some were more Asian (pickled vegetables agar with beef shoyu and short noodles). It just felt disjointed. Many of the dishes have quite a bit of spicy to them...so beware of that. The service was fine. There were times where we had to flag someone down to ask for water or to order.

Alex Z.

Yelp
This place deserve a Michelin star, phenomenal meal and great service. This is located off the main area but it's a short walk from the city center. There are outdoor seatings surrounding by the trees very cute, But in the humid time is very hard to tolerate. Our table all did the tasting menu, each course is nicely put together from plating to flavor. Good amount of food and you will get really full after you finish. We didn't do the wine paring but we had the cocktails which are also very good. They are the best service in the area I had tried, all waiters are professionally trained. Each dish brought to us at the same time and explained. Highly recommend anyone visiting to give it a try. They also have a la cart menu if you are not too hungry.

C D.

Yelp
Highly, highly recommend!! My family of four had dinner here last night and it was one of the best meals of our lives! We ordered the Chefs Tasting Menu which was phenomenal. There was attention to every ingredient in the tasting menu and every bite was amazing. We ordered cocktails and loved the creative tastes in each. I enjoyed every sip of mine. My husband had the wine pairing with dinner and had wines he thoroughly enjoyed. The service was exceptional and the decor was classy and charming. A MUST DO when in PV. Can't wait to come back as a splurge meal when in town.

Stephanie H.

Yelp
Tintoque is one of the BEST restaurants not just in Puerto Vallarta, but in all of Mexico as rated by Culinaria Mexicana. Tintoque is founded by Michelin-star Chef Joel Ornelas, and they offer 2 menus: pre-fixe and a la carte. I skipped the pre-fixe and ordered a la carte. Complimentary Apertif: tuba Tuba is fresh coconut sap; super refreshing! Cocktail: El Pescador gin, coconut agua, sesame seeds Delicious! Complimetary Starter: tomato, almond, sourdough bread. OK for free; I wouldn't order it. Starter: Fried Octopus sweet potato puree, sesame seeds, fried octopus This dish is GORGEOUS!! THe octopus is perfectly crisped and meaty! Dip the octopus in sweet potato puree and coat with sesame seeds. Main Course: Lobster with Rice The waiter will cut out the lobster meat for you and will garnish with lime. The presentation is spectacular. I will say I prefer the fried octopus to this main course, though. Dessert: Cheesecake Mousse cream cheese, brie, passiontfruit Perfect consistency and light sweetness! Love this one! If you are in Puerto Vallarta and are looking for an upscale restaurant, you must not miss Tintoque.

Yelp
What a beautiful restaurant this is! I would say this is easily one of the best restaurants in town. With 4 recognition awards in a row it is even considered one of Mexico's best restaurants. The menu offers a la card or a tasting menu of 8 elaborations which has a pairing menu with wines should you want the full experience. We opted for the a la card menu because the tasting menu had a few dishes we did not care for. As starters we had the sourdough bread and butter and Empanada bao. For the main dish we had the short rib and lamb. The lamb was served gyro style with great flavors. The drink menu has many great options to choose from and the wine list is huge. For our meal we chose bubbles of course! The staff was one of the best I have seen and they take really good care of all customers. I will keep this restaurant on my list of places to visit next time I am in town.

Yelp
Food: 6 stars Service: 5 stars Drinks: 4.5 stars Ambiance: 5 stars Value: 4 stars This was a fantastic surprise. We are no strangers to tasting menus and love high-end dining. Tintoque definitely delivered! We opted for the tasting menu and shared the wine pairing - the staff were able split each pairing between two glasses, allowing us to savor the pairing while still remembering the entire dinner. The 36 hour braised tomato, snicker foie gras and coconut fish and combava were some standouts for us. We loved every course except for one experimental course that wasn't even listed on the tasting menu (beef brain and cheese quesadilla). The ambiance on the back patio next to the river was fantastic. Staff even provided bug spray to fend off mosquitos if needed. Come here and opt for the tasting menu, but make sure you come hungry and set aside several hours. Dining here is an experience, and it is absolutely worth it!

Michelle L.

Yelp
Came here for a birthday celebration during our Puerto Vallarta trip. We had very high expectation since this is one of the most highly rated fine dining in PV, and I am intrigued by everything on the menu. The service is top-notched, our waiter is amazing and didn't try to get us to order more than what two people can finish. I love the concept of contemporary fine dining Mexican food, and the flavor profiles for everything is amazing - however, I feel like the execution is lacking. We tried the pork katsu tamale, the truffled corn esquite, and the chicken adobo dish. We were usually not a big fan of tamale, but the flavor of the tomato base to go with the tamale was excellent. The fried pork katsu didn't really wow me tho. The truffled corn with was the highlight of the night, the flavor combo was amazing! The portion is pretty big to share among two people so unfortunately the dish became very heavy very quickly. The chicken for the main entree was the most disappointing for me. The flavor was good, but the chicken was so dry... It was still a really good experience (tho I wish they did something special for my friend's bday), and I think the tasting menu might have been a better route since we didn't get to try as many dishes as I want since the portions are so big.

Yelp
Tintoque is an upscale restaurant, offering a creative take on dishes that are inspired by the surrounding area and local ingredients. It's a lovely building with a really nice patio overlooking a river. I dined here on a recent trip to Puerto Vallarta, opting to do their 8 course tasting menu with wine pairings. I was fortunate enough to get a same day reservation, but did take a 9pm seating in order to get in the same day. I'd definitely check out Open Table ahead of time or call a few days before to try and reserve a more ideal time slot as well as request a table on the patio overlooking the river. Both the food and the service were amazing. Even though we were one of the last tables we still had great service and never felt rushed to leave. With each wine pairing the sommelier came out and described what we were drinking and how it paired with the next dish. The flavors of each dish were very wonderful and paired nicely with the wines. I highly recommend dining here for any special occasion - even if that's just celebrating life!

Barbara K.

Yelp
This is the most wonderful restaurant! You need a reservation, then try to get a table on the porch by the river - it's so lovely. And we had no problems with mosquitoes.Though inside is nice, and fun to watch the kitchen, just not as romantic. We went twice in the week again. First time we ordered too much food, and took leftovers for lunch the next day. Be aware that this menu is slightly heavy, not much light on it. It does change, but I don't know how often. We had the octopus appetizer, which was deep-fried chunks that you dip into sweet potato puree, then a mixture of black sesame seeds and chiles. So delicious, just filling. Then crispy pork tamale, again so tasty, but a lot of masa, so heavy. Next pork cheek enchilada, which tasted better the next day because we were pretty full at this point. And finally the equites - 3 kinds of corn with huitlacoche and truffle, amazing! We've had it almost every time it's so good. We had no room for dessert, but chef sent out 2 tiny desserts that were fabulous, just right. The wine pours seemed small, but good Mexican wines. Service, as usual was impeccable. I wish all servers were trained as well as these. Our second visit we were much more cautious with ordering, and got the squid salad with lemongrass vinaigrette, thinking it would be light. The squid was fried! Delicious, just heavy. There was jicama and spinach , and the vinaigrette was wonderful. Then we shared the chicken, which normally I wouldn't consider in a place with such interesting options. It was cooked perfectly, in a light sauce. And it was a huge breast! Prices also seem ti have gone up, so ordering less is helpful. But a must go-to restaurant if you love well-cooked interesting food!

Yelp
I returned this week, 4 years later with my now teens. I got to enjoy the tasting menu and again we were completely spoiled by the staff. We love the new location. We love watching the chefs in the kitchen, creating their magic. Every single bite was delicious, but especially the "Bloody Mary" and the bluefin with curry and chili oil.

Crazy T.

Yelp
Amazing food and drinks. Impeccable service. Perfect birthday dinner with a surprise dessert.

Tony S.

Yelp
This place is spectacular. We did the tasting menu and we should have brought a pair of extra socks because the ones we were wearing got blown clean off! From the octopus to the carnitas "enchilada" and the best blue fin tuna I have ever tasted. The presentation is impeccable and the service is exceptional. If you are looking for the best meal in Mexico that turns your perception of Mexican food on its head. This is the place. Do the tasting menu and go on a food journey you'll never forget! Wow!

Steve T.

Yelp
This was, hands down, one of the best meals I've ever experienced in my life. Everything was delicious and I highly recommend the pre-fixe menu to ensure you can really get a taste of their cuisine. I can't overstate how perfect the entire meal was. I'm not sure how often their menu changes, but their truffled esquite and 36hr tomato are incredible standouts. Everyone at the table lost their minds over how great they were. If I'm ever in PV again, I will definitely be making another reservation.

Matt G.

Yelp
One of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at. Fantastic service, great ambiance, delicious and just a great experience.

Christina N.

Yelp
Great spot! Super romantic and beautiful vibes. The food was absolutely amazing, the flavors have so many levels that I cannot put into words, must see for yourself!

L J H.

Yelp
I really was looking forward to Tintoque, but there wasn't one course that we were happy with entirely. Each course had promises of brilliance but in execution or lack of supervision ultimately disappointed. Drinks were $15US, and the quality did not warrant the price. My negroni had some charred something in a strip in it, on my last sip, I got a piece of plastic wrap the same size as the strip. The wine list was well curated, with a variety of classic and local offerings. The catch of the day was cooked to perfection but was paired with greens dressed only in oil. My companion enjoyed his salad. The enchilada's pork cheek was succulent and unctuous and crispy in all the right places, the tortilla on top was stale-crispy, not toasted crispy, and the pipian sauce was insipid. Halfway through an unpopped popcorn kernel was a bit of a shock. The "cheesecake that isn't" was not a mousse either, the little cakes in the box were nearly flavorless and the pannacotta-reminiscent bowl had a blue cheese tang that was challenging to enjoy. I need to say that the plating was always gorgeous and innovative, if only the flavors had been as well developed. We eat at Michelin star restaurants on occasion and enjoy fine dining, but this is sadly neither. In the end we wished we had saved the money for taco stands. If this was for food only, it would be one star, but the setting and service was pleasant, thus 2 stars.

Yelp
Just when I thought I had already found all the culinary treasures of PVR!! Tintoque is now on the top of the list and on the PVR rotation. Food was maybe the best I have had in the city. Each dish is unique and creative but not tooooo foodie that it's just over the top. It's different but also really really good. If I were to name one highlight I think it'd be the Tuna appetizer. Tuna was so fresh and prepared with a light yet flavorful sauce. Cocktails are also excellent! Passion fruit marg was to die for! As with most nice places in Mexico, service is excellent. Setting was beautiful. Quant, peaceful, right on the river.

Yelp
Just wow. We've had a lot of tasting menu experiences and Tintoque may top our best ever list. A Michelin worthy experience. The dishes were incredible - the broccoli shrimp coconut risotto is one of my favorite things I've ever eaten. I loved the Mexican fusion concept with international twists of curry and warm spices. We tried both the regular and premium wine pairings and the selections for both were EXCELLENT and paired beautifully. The somm here knows his stuff and our waiter explained them so well. The service was excellent and the pacing was perfectly relaxed. Plus they accommodate allergy requirements with great alternatives. I can't say enough good things about this place. Go here if you can!!!

Yelp
I was with friends in Puerto Vallarta for a bachelorette party so we decided to have a nice dinner one of the nights. We were a group of six and they also have seating area for larger groups too. We sat in the back outdoor area so bring bug repellent just in case, but they also had some in the bathroom. We decided to go with the fixed menu and everything was absolutely delicious . I would go back next time that I'm in Puerto Vallarta but next time I would order from their full menu so that I have more of what I like.

Yelp
I would give it 6 stars if possible!!!! This restaurant deserves a Michelin star, I think they are fabulous!! Do the 9 course tasting menu, all the courses are awesome.

Yelp
For restaurant like this, restroom should really have higher standers. The ladies room are not private at all, so when you wash hands next man, fix your makeup become extremely awkward. But service here is great.

Yelp
The concierge at hotel t recommended this restaurant for my birthday dinner while we were in PV. I have traveled the world and eaten in more fine dining establishments then I can count and am happy to now include this place in my top five of all time best meals! Every single dish, starting with the bread, was outstanding. We had the rib-eye for two as our main course. This wasn't just a "steak" it was a beautifully prepared dish that included steak amongst a variety of amazing flavors and taste. The service was top notch and I loved the fact that in the indoor dining room there are only a few tables placed far apart so you didn't feel crowded but more intimate along with the ability to watch the chef and team at work in the open kitchen. The outdoor patio with the sound of the river was equally nice. I can't recommend this place enough.

Yelp
The service, food, setting, wines and cocktails are indescribably good. Truly one of the most memorable and outstanding meals I've eaten anywhere in the world. We ordered off the a la cart menu, as we didn't have a big enough appetite to warrant the tasting menu. But next time I will do that. For two people we ordered 2 appetizers, one main course, and a desert- shared. And it was more than we could eat. The otoro tuna appetizer with green mole sauce is one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten anywhere. The service was flawless- very attentive and professional and charming- without ever being intrusive. I am 100% impressed.

Yelp
Absolutely EXCEPTIONAL experience. Wow - I can't say enough positives about this place. We did the tasting menu and each course was better than the next. Definitely worth the price. High recommend!

Yelp
The ambience of this place was beautiful despite the dried out creek it was supposed to overlook. This place seemed like it was going to be incredible from people posting reviews for it saying that it deserved Michelin Stars. Do NOT believe those reviews. The first couple courses almost...almost had me believing it was going to be good but the turn this place took went from good to terrible FAST. We paid $25 per drink in which we bought a lime ‍ drop and a Negroni. My husband's Negroni was mainly an ice cube. Value for drinks=TERRIBLE. We had these little mousse bouche samples at the start of the meal, a potato bite, something in apricot jam on a crunchy half pastry shell. I was happy to get the bite of snapper covered in sesame seed which was a great crunch to lead a meal -and then after that bite of goodness, this meal fell flat on its face. We asked the wait staff what that course was, and the waiter was so confused by the question he went back to the kitchen to confirm that it was indeed snapper. We had a weak coconut dashi broth and if you didn't get any coconut (my husband didn't get a sliver of it) you wouldn't know that it was a coconut dashi. There was this tomato bite covered in some clear jelly- this bite was the worst bite of the night- the sensation was like taking a big bite of cleaning detergent and trying to swallow it down. A cross of some kind of detergent-salt-and mint-battling to burn your tastebuds. We had a green soup with a white fish in it...the texture of that fish was slimy and rubbery and salty. At this point in the meal I'm convinced that the chef just lost the salt lid on the remaining dishes. No depth of flavor, hardly any seasoning but salt! Salt! Salt!! At some point in the meal I got up from my seat to locate the restroom and a gentleman that seemed to be in training asked what I needed. He was like a guard who directed me to the restroom. We were never offered another drink, which from the prices was probably a generosity from the establishment. The watered down ounces we did get weren't worth the $50 bucks any way. The time between courses felt like an eternity and each course was like an itty bitty mousse bouche worse than or smaller than the one before. Did I mention how salty everything was? This was not a satisfying meal. It felt like a total of 20 chews and then dessert time. By this point it felt like we were being held hostage by the time in between courses. The first desert was baby formula ice cream with -you guessed it-salt doused in it-strange powdery salty ice cream! We then got salted flan but it didn't seem like it was set, it was served with caviar dribbled on top. Maybe the caviar was meant to give the dessert texture where the flan fell down? We also received a pastry that was a hollow bun that was supposed to have fois gras in it. This was one of the better bites in the meal, but it was a chintzy excuse for a desert, three strikes and you're out for dessert right? Not for a special occasion. More salty vanilla ice cream, blackberries, raspberries and passion fruit seed to top the night off. The waitstaff seemed to know how bad everything was because with each explanation of the course they turned and ran off after delivering an incoherent description. I would not recommend this place for anyone in Puerto Vallarta-EXPENSIVE OVER RATED TOURIST TRAP-

Yelp
Yes, yes, a thousand times yes. You NEED to dine at Tintoque when you are in PV. This time around, I was super excited to try Cafe des Artistes. To be fair, they have a wonderful ambiance, but everything else was disappointing, which I won't go into too much detail here. I've also tried most of the other fancy establishments in PV, such as La Palapa, and Tintoque is the best by FAR. It would be an outstanding meal anywhere in the globe. (The only one left on my list in PV is La Leche which I have my doubts about.) Anyway, back to Tintoque. Delicious, innovative, excellent service, beautiful plating, gorgeous ambiance, and a very reasonable price to boot. We were celebrating an anniversary and they made us feel extra special. It's located in a quiet neighborhood of the Marina, a cheap Uber ride from anywhere you may happen to be staying, so - there's really no excuse. Come here and thank me later.

Yelp
The food, service, and atmosphere at Tintoque were wonderful! The price point was a bit high, but luckily the food was delicious. I had the rye bao and lobster dish. Both were incredible. We followed up dinner with a tasty dessert that was similar to a molten chocolate, but chilled with a cookie crumble base. Make a reservation and enjoy. Dress up or come casual.

Yelp
Why this place doesn't appear on the top of PV dining guides is beyond me. The food and location was phenomenal. The vibe was trés chic. Wine list and bar had ample selection. We struggled whether to go with the tasting menu or a la carte and chose the a la carte menu. Many of the dishes were creative and presentation was spot on. The 3 of us were able to share between us between duck, shirt rib, and pork belly. LOVED the caviar service we ordered to start our evening. Table service seemed slightly novice at times but didn't detract from our experience although it was noticeable at points - for example, they presented two dishes on the table and we probably had to wait 3 minutes for the third to arrive, which was a bit awkward. All in all you would be remiss to be in PV and not plan for a meal at Tintoque.

Yelp
Everything about this place is great! The food, the ambiance and the service. Everything we ordered was exquisite and we already want to go back.

Yelp
Best meal in Puerto Vallarta! Likely top 10 restaurant ever for me! The staff and service were impeccable. Each dish was innovative and flavorful. Cannot wait to return back to PV so I can't eat at this gem again.

Yelp
One of the best culinary experiences of my life. We chose to eat here during our honeymoon and we were not disappointed. From the welcome drink (Tuba) to the passionfruit cheesecake dessert, all of the food was amazing. What I found most impressive was how the chef was able to balance celebrating local flavors (Tuba for instance or the chicken entree) with flavors from around the world (the sashimi on the tasting menu and the curry sauce that came with the fish). It was truly a culinary tour de force. I opted for the tasting menu and my wife ordered off of the menu and we were both blown away by the food. The cocktails were delicious too. The staff is incredibly knowledgable and we really enjoyed hearing the backstory about each dish and the chef's suggestions on how to eat it. We were so full at the end but still tried the creme brulé and passionfruit cheesecake. The passionfruit cheesecake was hands down the best dessert I have ever had.

Yelp
Had a great dinner here. Dishes were prepared exquisitely and full of complex flavors. Setting along the river was very nice, even though the river was dry due to repairs from storm damage last year. Service was exceptional and staff were well versed in how the dishes were prepared. Will definitely return again

Yelp
Very good. We did the tasting menu and there were some nice surprises during the 9 courses. The staff was knowlegeable and attentive -all courses where explained in detail. The sommelier was good at recommending wine- even though we went with a Mexican red , not a white which he wanted us to choose. Once we said red he picked a few lighter ones that would work with the heavy seafood tasting. The place is beautiful - then ambiance is nice. It was a great way to finish our vacation after a dissapointing meal at River Cafe the night before. Not cheap , but worth it for a special night out. Sit outside if you can - we could not as they were " calling " for rain. Unfortunate as the back as just amazing.

Yelp
Absolutely spectacular. I did the tasting menu and was blown away. Each course is just 2-5 bites and full of flavor. They're incredibly creative and unique - I've never had most of those flavor combinations before. The presentations were also pure perfection. I've done several tasting menus and always enjoy them but this one has me wanting to lick the plate. This is not a good menu choice for picky eaters- but they do have a full menu you can order from and every dish that came out looked outstanding.

Yelp
Step aside French Laundry. This was the best meal I have had in the last decade. So beautifully created and. Served.

Yelp
Love the food, service, and atmosphere! Tintoque is a must when we visit Puerto Vallarta. :)
