"It’s the end of the line for patio stunner Tintorera in Silver Lake. The gorgeous mostly outdoor restaurant didn’t make the year mark, despite having some big backing including Mexico City chef Maycoll Calderon. Despite the hype and hope of the place, it seems Silver Lakers either couldn’t find or didn’t return to the upscale casual Mexican seafood restaurant. The speakeasy-style bar inside offered its own kind of promise, but turnover there — including a very brief stint with bartender Aaron Melendrez — made for rocky going. Google now lists Tintorera as permanently closed, and the restaurant’s Resy page is no longer taking reservations. The place has actually been locked up tight for almost two weeks if also counting the shutters due to last month’s rainstorms, an issue that (obviously) drastically affects the glimmering patio places that populate much of the city." - Farley Elliott

"Turquoise walls, a massive mural that’s a street art take on Botticelli’s Venus , hanging lanterns and twinkling lights over a patio with scores of potted palms: this Mexico City meets Silver Lake mashup results in what might be the sexiest Mexican restaurant in town. The seafood-centric menu is delicately calibrated, well-sourced, and perfectly plated. Chef Maycoll Calderon cut his teeth in San Sebastián, worked for Jean-Georges Vongerichten, and ran restaurants in Mexico City before he came here. Expect bracing aguachile with peak season produce, top-quality fish like baja tuna paired with ginger rice, and other more delicate expressions of modern Mexican cuisine." - Hugh Garvey

Fantastic atmosphere and very unique outdoor space. Unfortunately, we were less than impressed by the food and cocktails, especially for the price. We shared a variety of their small plates, which were presented very well, but each seemed to lack character. Across the board, we found that dishes generally lacked flavor and were a bit monotonous. There was also an uneccssary amount of spicy-ness in dishes that did not require any to begin with. Tostada chips were stale and added to the sub-par experience. Cocktails need more pizazz. This place looks SO promising and and has the potential to be a kick ass LA hot-spot, but they’re going to need to take their kitchen game up a notch. Dinner for two: 5 small plates, 2 cocktails, 1 bottle sparkling water: $96 sans tip.

Google
Food was boring, price is ridiculous compared to the serving amount which is even more ridiculous. Service is bad and untrained, they messed up a simple drink order! And I over heard that they're disrespectful to their employees! Will not be returning to this so called Mexican restaurant!

Beautiful spot, jaw droppingly beautiful the moment you step in. Food and drinks were good to great, but overall way too expensive. Entrees are all about $35, apps around $20. Small portions for all.

Arroz con pollo and the mezcal verde cocktail are amazing. The ambiance is lovely for a night out with friends. The cornbread caramel dessert and sipping Leyenda Oaxaca post-meal was possibly the highlight of the evening.

Delicious and fresh food with lots of flavors and an excuisite touch. Everything is very tasty, from Guacamole, Ceviche, Tacos, Main dishes as well as the cocktails. Love this place.

Supposedly the restaurant is in its second week of being open, tried it last night. Food & cocktails were good. Seemed well staffed, but service was painfully slow...? Would go again after they work out the kinks? Maybe..

It really is "A Mexican thing", like the large mural reads that looks down on this cool silver lake spot. Highly recommended.
