Where to Buy Interesting, Unusual, and Delicious Bottles of Wine in Philly

"The aptly named Tinys Bottle Shop is tucked away behind the Lunar Inn in Port Richmond. Despite its cozy intimacy, this retail space offers quite a selection of organic and biodynamic wine plus beer and cider. Interesting and lesser-known bottles from the East Coast and local producers like Mural City Cellars stand alongside international specialties. Wines range from everyday drinkers priced under $25 to ritzier sparklers. The staff is friendly and upbeat, and handwritten tasting notes that hang around bottles’ necks provide a personal touch. Plan to swing by for free tastings every Tuesday evening." - Carolyn Desalu, Noelle Allen

Tiny’s Bottle Shop Review - Port Richmond - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"To find Tiny’s, you’ll first have to find The Lunar Inn - a non-descript bar and restaurant on a corner in Port Richmond. Located right behind the bar in what used to be a garage is Tiny’s - one of the best places to buy natural wine in Philadelphia. It’s not big, but every bottle is hand-picked by the owners and has some sort of story behind it, which makes wine shopping here way more fun than it is at the state-owned liquor stores." - Sydney McElwee

How to Spend a Big Fat Weekend in Fishtown, Philadelphia | Bon Appétit

"Okay, this stop isn’t technically in Fishtown or Kensington. It’s actually a bit further north in Port Richmond (attached to The Lunar Inn café), but if you’re in the area, it would be a shame to miss the selection of naturally fermented beer, wine, and cider from the likes of Franchere Wines, Partida Creus, Strohmeier, and Tired Hands Brewing—rare sights in Philly’s retail market.Tiny’sis the Philly bottle shop for those who are bored with California Cabs and oaky Chardonnays." - ByAlex Delany

I. Love. Tiny's! The carry some of my favorite producers and last weekend I took their "parallel play" to the beach.... incredible. Pre-pandemic the staff was always incredibly kind and excited to share about the bottles that were enthusiastic about.

Wine can be so intimidating, and wine drinkers either seem to know nothing or everything. As someone on the former end of the spectrum, I love that I can approach the staff at Tiny's and walk away with both a great bottle of wine and a lesson. The free Tuesday tastings are also a plus!

Best wine store in the city, attached to one of the best beer bars in the city. This is a necessary stop for me every time I'm in Philly. Do yourself a favor.

Yelp
Over the weekend, my husband took me to Tinys Bottle Shop, the best neighborhood wine bar in America. Inside this modest bottle shop, is the cutest bottle shop and bar. Depending on which side you enter, you could end up in the bar or the bottle shop. Tinys Bottle Shop prides itself on carrying natural wines, which are organically farmed (biodynamic) wines, made without additives or processing aids. But Tinys also sells and serve beer. Before deciding if we like natural wines enough to buy a bottle, we decided to drink some at its adjoining wine bar. The bar décor was comforting - hipsterish but not divey. Rock music was playing in the background as we drank our Meinklang ($15) and MotherRock ($15) and watched the Eagles game. Both red wines were on the tart side but delicious, and highly recommended. We didn't have any food but the food the people by us were eating smelled really good. Tinys is really a special place because it serves wines that are not widely available, and interesting. If you want to expand your palate or just want to appreciate good wine, definitely check out Tinys. They also do free tastings on Tuesdays from 6-8pm which is pretty much unheard of these days.
