Wine Dive, a ‘Funky’ Bottle Shop and Bar, Is on Its Way to South Street - Eater Philly

Tio Flores Review - Graduate Hospital - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Tio Flores is a colorful Mexican place in Grad Hospital, and it’s one of our favorite spots for a big group dinner before a night out. On top of having solid (and cheap) tacos, they also have a special every day of the week. So if you’re “taking a sabbatical” (or don’t care about your job), book your group dinner for a Monday night and take advantage of their $1 tacos and $5 margaritas." - Jordan Price

I had guests in from out of town. We came for dinner. Everything we ordered was delicious especially the carnitas tacos. Really great service and nice atmosphere. Highly recco. Cute area of town too.

I actually went here as a backup plan because the place I was supposed to go to was closed. And I’m so glad it was closed cuz the food here was amazing!!! I went here with 2 of my friends and we adored everything! The flavors were so good and the drinks were also great (and strong). Highly recommend and would love to come back.

Google
Gem in the neighborhood! Corner location means lots of light and people watching from inside, where there are string lights, plant decor, and a cozy atmosphere. Their tacos are great and their salads are large and satisfying. Solid margaritas also. Don't sleep on their desserts: their churro donuts are served hot and fresh and they're very delicious!

It's not cheap, but the food is pretty good and the beer selection is too. Happy hour begins at 4 on weekdays if you can make it - it's worth it. Discounts on drafts, margs, tacos and more. There's outdoor seating but if the weather is nice, arrive early. There's plenty of indoor seating too. FYI - the happy hour nachos are good, but super small. I think your best bet is tacos. Update: my partner and I got super sick after eating here that night. We ate no where else and only drank one beer each. Must have been tacos? I called the restaurant to see if anyone else has gotten sick because it was really bad. They were nice about it but I've reduced to three Stars.

Google
Excellent Mexican restaurant and bar on South Street and 16th. Good, quick service from the staff here. Prices are reasonable as well. Burritos from $10-14, tacos around $12, beers $4-6, margaritas $8-12. Lots of outdoor seating for the Covid restrictions. Cool ambiance as well with plants and hanging lights, great place for drinks with friends or a date night!

Google
Always a great time here! Staff are amazingly friendly and thorough! The atmosphere and aesthetic are great too! Food is DELICIOUS!!! You'll leave and want to come right back! The portions are huge and will fill you right up! They also have a plethora of margarita choices! 🍹

Google
We dined outside, streetside, and it was a beautiful night! The veggie quesadilla was okay, the fried sweet plantains and blood orange margaritas were good, but the beer-battered corn (even though it was messy) was to DIE for!! Might have to travel from Cleveland again just for that. Any chance you'd share the recipe...?

Yelp
I was babysitting my 4 year old granddaughter and we were deciding where to have brunch. We initially were going to a breakfast cafe, where she said the pancakes and bacon were good (I'd never been). However, at the last minute, she said, "I want to go to Tio Flores!" I was surprised, (switching from pancakes to tacos) but she reiterated her choice and off we went. She'd been to Tio before, however, it was my first visit. We went in, she said, "Let's sit in the front row!", which was the first booth by the door. We sat down, and she immediately grabbed the kid's menu. She looked at me and said "..guacamole and chicken tacos"! So that's what we got; I ordered mine off the regular menu - same dish. The guacamole was very good, as were the chips. The tacos were the Chicken Tinga - a chipotle flavored chicken, with a little salsa, lettuce and a lime cream sauce. Her version, had the chicken, with only cheese....which was fine as she said she didn't want lettuce. Our tacos were good, and the service was good. It was close (we walked) and fast. I told her she made a good choice!

Yelp
Great for a larger group, but to be honest, not in love with my meal. They have a lot of drink options which I love to see and our server was very attentive. With so many options for Mexican food in the city, not sure I'll be back.

Yelp
Largely enjoyed a very cute, low key week day dinner here. The servers were casual, friendly, and attentive. Not a lot of people out here on an absolutely beautiful weekday night, but it did start filling up later in the night. I liked their outdoor space a lot and the servers definitely read the vibe by not checking by too much but till doing a great job making sure you have everything you need. The waitstaff was definitely a huge plus. Absolute stars of the show were the nachos. Massive plate of food, and I love when it's fun extras like carrot and radish. Definitely stands out here, and I feel like two people could be happy splitting one just as a meal. I loved the guac but it is pretty standard. The special enchiladas are absolutely amazing if you go any time this season. They DO NOT skimp on the cheese, the meat is so warm and tender wrapped in the perfectly charred tortilla...definitely a bit greasy, but 100% worth it. I was pretty disappointed with the tacos, they were really salty and tasted almost off. Didn't try anything vegan/vegetarian here but the variety looked awesome. Did not try the margs but the nonalcoholic cocktails were extensive. Having items like liquor free tequila etc seemed like a bit of a gimmick to me because they tasted about the same as a really tasty lemonade or something similar, but cost the same as a regular margarita ($10 a glass) which is a bit crazy! I didn't go for happy hour but the deals didn't seem very good. Overall: I'd come here to eat but not to drink. Food prices were totally reasonable and largely tasty, and the location and vibes are excellent. Check it out for a bite or two and then maybe pop on over the PHS pop up right across the street for a drink!

Yelp
Tio Flores came through on a busy Sunday a few hours before kick off. We were lucky to get a table for 4 since there were a few reservations being held around the time that we arrived. Our sodas and beers were quick to come out and our food was not far behind. The vibe was right and the service was friendly. This is not your typical cheesy Mexican food, it was like a fresh kick where the nachos had bright colors and pickled peppers on top with a tasty crumbly cheese rather than your typical nacho goopy cheese (which I love, but it's nice to change it up)! There was a bar with a couple of TVs, looked like there were about 12 barstools, so we didn't miss a minute of the earlier games. I would recommend Tio Flores to anyone looking to step it up from your typical sports bar.

Yelp
Ordered on doordash with a zero dollar delivery fee which was amazing. You also get a $10% discount. The food came pretty fast. I've past by it on my way home from work and it look like a cool place. Would definitely go back in person.

Yelp
My wife & I have dined here twice & we love it! The bar is neat & vibrant and service is quick and friendly. Sam & Mel took great care of us both times. They recommended really awesome dishes. We tried the El Mero Burger, which was on special & the fish tacos. We also had the nachos which are an awesome portion! The margaritas were also great. Sam recommended the strawberry & mango pineapple which are both made fresh in-house. We loved them. Pro tip: leave room for the dessert!

Yelp
Cute little place with good food and awesome margaritas. My table ordered the mango guacamole and churro donas to share. The guacamole was good but those churro donas were my favorite! Warm, fluffy and is a delicious goodness. Kinda wished that I had some vanillas ice cream on the side . For myself I got the pescado tacos (fish) and the guava margarita and it waa delicious. Their guava margarita is one of the best I tried in a long time. My friend initially ordered the mango but for the second round she ordered the guava after she tried mine. The restaurant also has this house hot sauce that is really good if you like spicy because it is spicy! My friends and I came along with a big group that pretty much took over the whole restaurant. We appreciated their willingness to accommodate to our crazy needs aka a bazillion individual checks. Overall a winner for me and will definitely go back. And oh they did automatically add gratuity on their check but they did let us know.

Yelp
Not busy on a Sunday night for an Eagles game on tv, casual eating. They include 20% gratuity. The tinga tacos were very underwhelming. No flavor. Just cream and lettuce on top. I would have appreciated the pickled onions at least since tinga is a specialty dish. At least add pineapple juice to the sauce to add some flavor. They did not have a house hot salsa/sauce just Cholula. The elote was good. Not sure why they have bbq beef at a Mexican place.

Yelp
Everything about this place is just heavenly. We come here every Sunday night after church with my sister Jeorgia. Pro tip, sit at the bar if the bartender with the curly hair is working. He is friendly, attentive, and always has something great on the TV and speakers. I recently moved to the area and you can't any Mexican food this good back home in Bontemps, Louisiana. We love coming here!

Yelp
Dined with a few girlfriends one evening after an impromptu meet-up at the pop up garden down the street. It was a perfect spot to grab some tacos after and end the night with a margarita! The staff was super fun and the food was great. Oddly enough the wings were insanely good. You wouldn't expect that from a Mexican joint.

Yelp
Tio Flores has a great vibe. The place is on the smaller side, but between the community tables and the bar area, they can pack in a good number of people.  Due to Covid, they also have set up a nice outdoor seating area. Inside, only parties of 3 or more are seated at their own table or booth. The restaurant tends to fill up, so either make a reservation or get their on the earlier side.   My only gripe is that they've started adding an automatic 20% tip into the bill (regardless of party size) and including taxes in their calculation. On this visit, we went with the Chicken Enchiladas and the Quesadilla. Both items were really good. The portion sizes are average, so you don't feel overstuffed. However, if you are a big eater, you may be left for wanting more. As far as tacos, the Lentil and Cauliflower, Chicken Gringa, and Pork Carnitas are the best!  The Lentil and Cauliflower are surprisingly good!  Way too many restaurants end up "butchering" vegetarian options, but Tio Flores got this one right.   My husband has also ordered the Tio's Big Burrito.  A word of caution on the Burrito that after adding Pork and Cowboy beans a $11 burrito can end up costing $17.  And despite the name "Big Burrito," their burritos are small, but do come with a little salad.

Yelp
I live literally right around the corner and want to like this place so bad, but unfortunately they are so inconsistent with their operating hours and I'm tired of being told they are closing whenever they deem appropriate. Their hours online definitely do not reflect when they actually close. It has been multiple occasions, week days/weekends and I've been turned away at extremely unreasonable hours (8:40pm on a Saturday is just ridiculous). Bartenders are nice, food is good, but unfortunately I will be taking my business elsewhere, where they don't close whenever they just don't want to work anymore.

Yelp
Cute Mexican restaurant very close to the PHS pop up! The drinks were fantastic and the nachos are high quality! You can't go wrong here!

Yelp
atmosphere is cute, but if you're considering authentic mexican cuisine DONT come here. food was very unseasoned for my taste and our server didn't come either our appetizers until we were almost done our food and didn't check in with us the entire time. wouldn't come here again or recommend to a friend. tacos tasted like something you could get from taco bell

Yelp
Our server was great, drinks were good and food was good. The management is, in my opinion, severely lacking. This is my second time here, after a disappointing first experience I have returned almost a year later to use a gift card. I need to say that it is not my problem if the 'system was changed' and now my gift card can't be used. As a small business owner and former food service industry worker, I feel like I'm pretty objective when things go wrong - shit happens, but the gift card should have been honored. My friends and I just had a similar situation a few weeks ago at an establishment in Fishtown; they wanted to use a gift card before moving out of the country. This Fishtown bar also 'recently changed their system' but decided to honor the gift card and comped the bill for the amount of the gift card, though technically they could not accept the card. I think this was the right way to handle it; again, not the costumers fault that 'the system was changed'. I don't think I've ever written a review and I also, without any luck, looked for an email to contact management to bring this to them directly - I wasn't about to make a scene with our server bc she was the only thing that was great in the experience.

Yelp
Will, the bartender, was courteous and made the best margarita I had in a long time. Plus, the portions are to die for. I totally suggest trying Tio Flores. Be sure to ask for Will.

Yelp
Wonderful food and strong drinks. We came on a Friday night and sat outside. Tons of mosquitos, so many bring some bug spray. They have regular and frozen Margs. Unique flavors and strong. We got the nachos to start, which was adequate. I really like my fish tacos. My friends got burrito bowls and Carne Asada tacos, and they were able to get all the modifications correct. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Please note that 20% tip is already added to your final bill.

Yelp
With Delta on the rise and a fair number of dietary restrictions in our group, we were happy to find a place to eat outside that would satisfy everyone. Tio Flores has a good amount of outdoor seating along 16th Street (and two tables on South Street) and is, as I recalled from my first time years ago, adequate Mexican food. We ordered Chips & Salsa (not automatically served) and Guacamole for the table to start: salsa included two types of salsa (red and green), neither of which were particularly flavorful or spicy. The guacamole was the green of pre-packaged guacamole and, again, needed something--tableside salt might have helped. My "Burrito" Desnudo (barbacoa) was good (pictured) and the barbacoa nicely seasoned. Note, this entrée comes with green peas, which were jarring each time I came across one. No complaints from my fellow diners on their entrées or Margarita Clasicas. Service was fine and generally friendly--no servers were masked, but we assume from the requirement for vaccinations for indoor dining that they are all fully-vaccinated. In any case, we were glad we were outdoors!

Darien A.

Yelp
Food and drinks are great! Small note: gratuity is already included in the bill with no call out and suggested tip at the bottom of bill. Deducting two stars given that I tipped an extra $70+ because of the bill situation.

Frankie H.

Yelp
My partner and I enjoy this place very much. Went last night for drinks and dinner. Bartender was great as usual. Server was subpar. On their phone the whole time. Not interaction or checking when glasses were empty. Didn't pay much attention to any of the tables. Had to ask bartender or a different server for items throughout the meal. Food and drinks were good as expected. Unfortunately they add 20% gratuity on all checks. The table service was not worth the tipped amount at all. Just because there's immediate gratuity on the check doesn't mean you provide poor service.

Yelp
Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes to the service. Yes to the space. And YES to the fish tacos! Asked the staff what their favorite dish was and their recommendation did not disappoint. Fish was crispy, cabbage had a great crunch to it, and the cream on top was tangy and delicious. I'm still dreaming about this and will be back. Great guac too!
google avatar

Yelp
I came here for a happy hour and sat at the bar. They had an extensive happy hour food and drink menu. The food came out quickly and was very fresh. The bartender was friendly and it has a great atmosphere with beautiful murals on the wall, and cute Mexican decor. I got the street corn which came with two pieces, the wings and nachos. The nachos were not my favorite but the wings were great. I had a margarita as well and it was delicious. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Lillian G.

Yelp
So delicious! You can tell they take their time cooking everything properly (but there's little to no wait time to get your food) and it just melts in your mouth. I didn't have to add salt or salsa, it was seasoned well. I tried the nachos for an appetizer and despite the simple ingredients it was very fulfilling and yummy. Then I had the tio bowl with chicken tinga, it was great and a good size portion, I took half home. I tried the frozen margarita and it was good too. Definitely will be coming back

Yelp
Popped in here for dinner on a whim. Not sure where to even begin, but I felt like I threw $35 in the trash. My server was nice-ish, but seemed annoyed at having to work to be perfectly honest. He spilled my drink a little and I had to call him over to ask for a napkin and straw and silverware when he just walked away from the spill. Then he was less than attentive for the rest of my visit. The food portions are INSULTINGLY SMALL. $7 for toasted esquites (Mexican street corn) in a tiny tiny bowl. It was tasty, fortunately. Then $16 for a ground beef quesadilla that was MINISCULE. Seriously, it was a $6 quesadilla if you're going by size, and then the flavor? WHAT FLAVOR? It was absolutely FLAVORLESS. I ate about 40% of it just out of sheer hunger and the rest went in the trash. But the real insult was the automatic 20% gratuity. I could understand for large parties, but on every check? And the real problem is that the only way you would know it's coming is if you scroll ALL THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM of their digital menu (there are no hard copies.) So if you only look at the part of the menu where the items you select are listed, but don't scroll down to the bottom of the website, you don't know about it. I mean I would've f***ing tipped ANYWAY, though granted probably 15% (which is, in fact, "industry standard" despite the menu claiming it's 20%. 20% is for above average service.) Just as a side note, you are not legally required to pay an automatically included gratuity no matter what you are told. Gratuities are ALWAYS optional even if there's giant signage posted EVERYWHERE, and you can *ALWAYS* demand they take it off of your check. Which I didn't, I paid the 20% for average service on sub-par food in ridiculously small portions. Don't come here. Ever.
google avatar

Yelp
This was a decent night. We didn't plan on eating here but the place we were heading to had a sign on the door that said they were closed due to a private party. We stumbled in here and started ordering up drinks for a wait for a table. The spicy margarita is delicious. You should try it. I ordered nachos with veggie chorizo. I loved that there were carrots on top of the loaded nachos and the nachos were crunchy and delicious. We waited a while for service but it was crowded and it looked like there was one server for the dining room. The drinks were strong and I definitely recommend the fried churros with Nutella and caramel dipping sauce. So good. I see that other reviewers are complaining about the 20 percent gratuity added to the check. Didn't bother me at all. Thing is, I typically leave a bit over 20 percent so I found this refreshing. Tipping is a given. What's the big deal if it's added? This place wasn't our first choice but was more than fine that we landed here. (They were also very gracious as we hung out and talked and drank after our food was eaten)

Yelp
We went here on a Saturday night. 4 adults and a kiddo. The food was pretty great. Especially their truffle queso!!! yum! The chicken tacos were quite good. The shrimp tacos were good but they were battered (it doesn't state it in the menu for those looking to do low carb or keto) The service was ok though. We spent a lot of time waiting for our order to be taken and then for our food but the staff itself was nicer.
google avatar

Caroline C.

Yelp
Very tasty restaurant with a relatively spacious outdoor area, thanks to the corner they are found on. Inside looked nice, maybe next year! Cocktails were tasty and beer options were also solid. Food was very good but my tortilla was a little stale and I was kind of surprised by the portion sizes and prices. All in all, this is a spot for fun with friends over fantastic food- great location!
google avatar

Dustin J.

Yelp
First off I am shocked this place adds 22% gratuity to you bill regardless of your table size. They write 20% on bill but they include taxes in their calculation!! The food was not good at all. The chicken inside the enchilada is extremely bland. The burrito is salty and tasteless. I hate to say this but chipotle is better than this place by a longshot in terms of food quality only. The one good side that the atmosphere is good, especially the outdoor area. Consider this place for drinks but definitely not for any meal.
google avatar

Jada G.

Yelp
We stopped by for a quick bite and drinks on a Saturday. It was relatively empty inside but the outdoor seating and the bar looked healthily full--most likely a sign of the times with getting adequately staffed. We got fried plantains to start. They were okay, but definitely teetered on undercooked/underripe and the sauce that came with it wasn't really what we were used to. My boyfriend, a critic of barbacoa, said the tacos were decent, albeit the tortilla was a bit "meh." I quite liked my shrimp tacos! I loved how fresh the toppings were and the aioli drizzle was divine. Overall it was a decent experience sitting at the bar but I think the restaurant industry is still figuring out how to recover in this new phase of "living with COVID." I probably wouldn't come again just because there are about a hundred options for tacos in this lovely city.

Yelp
I was so excited to come here! A friend told me about their fantastic vegan tacos. I made a reservation for 7 people at 7:30PM but we got hungry around 6ish so showed up at the restaurant then. The restaurant was pretty quiet and luckily we were seated quickly. The manager was very nice and polite. Our server was not. She was clearly hungry or in a bad mood. As we told her our drink orders, she responded with surly ok's. We started with an appetizer of guacamole. It was really good! We were also given a small cup of salsa and rudely told "Only the first one is on the house." This server really had a way with words. For dinner, I ordered the Lentil Cauliflower tacos. With the tacos, you're able to add rice and beans for $4 and make it a platter. I decided not to get the rice and beans because the meal came with three tacos. Our server got a little more cheery as the night went on but it fluctuated. The tacos were very dry and needed some sort of sauce. They were also very small and I ate them pretty quickly. I realized then that I should've gotten the rice and beans. I called the server over and asked if I could add on the rice and beans for the platter price of $4. She quickly told me no and that it was too late for that. I would now have to pay the a la carte price instead. This made me really annoyed. As the customer, she should've just quickly agreed. I then argued that I didn't know how small and light these tacos were going to be. She then told me how she would have to work it out with her manager and she would let me know. Frankly, I should've just been told yes instead of being argued with. About 10 minutes went by and out of nowhere she brought me the rice and beans. I was grateful but annoyed that I had to fight for them. It's safe to say that I won't be back. The service was sub-par and frankly so was the food.

Yelp
While waiting for a table to open my friend and I were able to get takeout drinks. I'm not a big fan of slushy drinks but I had the Miami Vice which was pretty good. For dinner I had the veggie burrito which was goodt and very filling. My friend said that the tacos were good, but could've used one more, the three weren't filling. But the atmosphere was nice, I mean you have a bird's eye view of south street traffic which keeps things lively. Our waitress was great (I am so mad that I don't remember her name). She was super busy, but very efficient and pleasant. I would def return here!
google avatar

Liz F.

Yelp
I'm giving two stars because I'm glad to have outdoor dining during covid, and because I understand that it's harder for restaurants and staff during this time. But the food was awful. We got the nachos, cauliflower-lentil tacos, and two drinks (a lavender one and a strawberry slushy one). The nachos were cold when they arrived - hard, congealed cheese, soggy chips. The tacos were better, but also cold and the tortillas soggy. The drinks were STRONG but not bad. The vibe and outdoor setting were great, but that was really the only positive about our visit. Heading back to El Vez next time.
google avatar

Kelli H.

Yelp
This place is a decent option. I've been here a couple of times and if you're looking for a cute spot with decent drinks and outdoor dining, definitely give it a shot. If you're looking for a GREAT taco, try elsewhere. There usually isn't a wait here which is awesome when some of the other spots like El Vez or Mission in the city are usually pretty jammed up on the weekends. Food can be a little bit expensive but portion sizes from what I've seen are usually good. I've had the mushroom quesadilla, mahi tacos, mexican poutine, and the nachos and all were pretty good but definitely nothing to write home about. If you're stopping by here during the summer, I'd suggest heading down the block and grabbing a drink at the PHS beer garden after!

Yelp
Last minute search for outdoor seating for four on OpenTable lead me to Tio Flores. The place looked nice and the servers were fantastic (friendly, attentive, etc.). Despite the photo (which makes the tacos seem so good), the tacos were just bad... the corn tortillas were cold and a bit soggy. The Al Pastor meat had a strange flavor... maybe left over meat? Not sure. The carnitas tacos were also bland.

Brook G.

Yelp
Made some last minute reservations on a Friday night and was not disappointed! The staff was very friendly and the food was great!
google avatar

Andrew T.

Yelp
The vibes at Tio Flores was cool and was told that it was dollar taco night by the hostess. I ended up ordering 4 tacos, the street corn, and the chips & guac. Their chips and guac are definitely the highlight of the meal. I would definitely come and get them again; however, the street corn is not what I expected. Its deep fried and then placed in this sweet and sour chili sauce. I got the lentil and cauliflower and beef carnitas tacos. I thought these were just okay. One thing that I was disappointed about is that I was planning on ordering 2 tacos; and was forced to order 4 as a minimum and then was not allowed to take the rest home. Nowhere on the menu did it mention that 4 tacos were required nor that I would be unable to wrap these up if I didn't finish them. The dollar is not the issue here, its the fact that the food was already paid for and would be trashed either way. So, in actuality seems like a waste as a business practice. Why force me to buy 4 tacos and then force me to throw it away? I'd rather buy 2, $2 tacos and rather not waste the food.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday afternoon to their perfect outdoor seating area. Things to note about how they're taking precautions during covid: all food is served on disposable plates, cups etc. and seating has been spread out along the side walks to give a safe distance. On to the food: I started with a piña colada and guacamole and both were delicious. The piña colada had the perfect ratio of rum to pinapple and the guacamole had a great amount of flavor. For my main I did the fish tacos and this is where we dropped just one star. The fish didn't have much flavor and the sauce and garnishes didn't add anything to the dish either Prices: I felt they were high for the food we were getting- portion sizes as well as over all quality didn't seem to match the prices; however, to be honest, it's covid so I understand it. Overall worth it for bites and cocktails for sure! I can't advocate for an entire meal.

Yelp
got dinner and drinks with a friend, loved the feel of the place and our entrees were smaller than expected but delicious. the frozen margaritas and service was great, definitely LGBT friendly. the churro dessert was disappointing. the popcorn and mint on top was odd. the burrito and quesadilla were good.

Yelp
This place is fine! I appreciate masked servers. They say they check vax cards at the door, but they just ask people to put masks on. Lots of outdoor dining options. Their tacos and spicy margs were good as well as their chips. Their guac def left a lot to be desired however. I think it came out of a package, and it's the smallest portion ever for like $11. One thing is that they're using takeout stuff for dine in, which I think is very strange. While the packaging is mostly cardboard, it feels very weird going out to eat and eating off of that. Oh well. If I'm ever feeling local Tex mex, I'll come here again but maybe for takeout like I did the first time. Note: no hh specials anymore!

Yelp
Food was good, but I hate being nickeled and dimed. Charging for chips and salsa is a first in all my global travels. Charged extra for beans as well. Automatically charged 20% tip? It's rude to act entitled to automatically add a tip AND then ask for additional! They state 90 minute max on sitting, really? Just a rude experience to treat the customer as a transaction instead of repeating customer that keeps them open and successful. Agree with other reviews that wait staff have some bit of "edge" like we are bothering them when you are being polite and patient Sadly, dessert is a cinnamon doughnut, but given a fancy name. Such a shame for such a cute and charming place. If you don't mind overpaying, food is good.

Yelp
This was the last time I will eat at Tio Flores. My girlfriend and I have been coming here for years and I don't know if there was a change in management/ownership but sadly the quality has really fallen off. The food before COVID-19 was great but the past two times I've gone it has been extremely disappointing. Maybe there's new cooks in the kitchen but the flavor of the food is now lacking in every way, the tortillas are grainy, and has been an awful experience Additionally, they have started adding 20% gratuity to your bill without telling you so I double tipped for food my girlfriend and I could barely stomach. I don't like leaving bad reviews but with how bad everything was I had to.

Yelp
Before I moved out of Philly, I used to love coming to Tio Flores for quick bites and great drinks, especially on less busy weeknights. Upon my return to the city, I was looking forward to picking right back up with Tio Flores, but unfortunately, my last two visits have both had shortcomings. I recently stopped in for a weeknight dinner and ordered the fried avocado tacos, which were quite good. My dining mate had the fish tacos, which had zero seasoning - thankfully our order of guacamole was too salty so she used some of that to kind of salvage the situation. I then came again for a late weekend lunch with another friend - we had the fried plantains, which had a huge portion for the price ($8) and were quite tasty, and the guacamole, which again was too salty. Service both times was very slow. I think we spent about 45 minutes each time - it took a while to place orders despite the bar being almost empty, then it took a long time to get the check and pay. Food came out at a good pace, though they could do better at checking their seasoning levels. Drinks are still good and the decor is still cute, but I don't know - a few years ago, it seemed they were super busy all the time. But now the crowd has gone elsewhere, and I can't help but think after my last two meals at Tio Flores that their decline in popularity is probably justified.

Yelp
Mahi tacos are mind blowing and you can't go wrong with their margaritas! Really liked the spicy jalapeño margarita!

Yelp
Visited Tio Flores on a Friday night with a party of nine and had a great time! We were able to make an open table reservation and snag a large booth in the back. The server was friendly and patient with our large party, keeping the pitchers of margaritas coming. We love the ability to share pitchers of drinks and especially loved the blood orange margs! They bring bottomless chips and salsa and we ordered a few bowls of guacamole to go along which were delicious! We also had a bunch of plates of tacos and enjoyed all different types! Overall, a great festive, casual spot for drinks and dinner with friends!

Yelp
After almost 2 years since my last visit and a successful Love Run, I was BEYOND ready for brunch at Tio Flores! We ordered the huevos rancheros, mushroom & spinach quesadilla, and Breakfast at Tio's. We were all stuffed, happy, and ready for a nap by the time we finished our meals. We adored the quirky decor and vibrant atmosphere at Tio Flores. We can't wait to return for happy hour!

Yelp
Food was great and service was very quick! Went on a Friday night and was able to reserve a table even though it was busy. Modern Mexican/American. Cozy atmosphere.

Yelp
F and I came in after Philly Dance Day. I was so hungry and hankering for cold refreshment. All the booths were taken so we nabbed two seats at the bar. I wanted good old fashioned margaritas. So we ordered a pitcher for $29. They were tasty but not too boozy. We did finish the whole thing. F and I split and order of al pastor tacos, and nachos. Both dishes hit the spot. The service was prompt and attentive. The Longest Yard with Adam Sandler was on the telly...we were completely satisfied. Tio Flores won't rock your world, but it's a good spot for reliable food and drinks.

Yelp
I wish the energy level here matched the colorful allure. Tio Flores is right on a South Street West corner, not far from many of my preferred local haunts, like Magpie, The Cambridge, and the PHS Beer Garden. While the interior was brightly decorated, the food and environment were lacking last Saturday. It was dinner time, yet there were plenty of open seats. We were told their one big booth was reserved, but no one ever sat there throughout our visit. Instead, our server led us to a communal table with fairly uncomfortable seats. The only other option was the bar, but the seats there don't have backs and I have a bad back sooo pass. If you're into cocktails, margs, etc., they have a bunch of choices. I would have gone down that route if I hadn't been at a beer fest for most of the afternoon. I will say Tio's beer list is pretty solid. Lots of your usual suspects but also a handful of new-to-me brews, like Sixpoint's Jammer. I was pretty happy with my selection. For my meal, I chose the Suiza Enchiladas (chicken, roasted tomato sauce, queso mixto, cilantro, pickled onion, corn tortilla, $13) after a confirmation of mild spice from our friendly waitress. I'd say the spice level is more like moderate, but I'm also the wimp who can't tolerate most spices so maybe disregard. The dish itself was okay and a fair size. I wouldn't order it again, and I wouldn't order their tacos either (outrageous price for 2 of them!), but maybe I'd try a different app or entree. Tio wouldn't be somewhere I'd consider suggesting in the future, but if a group is already planning to visit, I'd join. It's middle-of-the-road Mexican all the way.

Yelp
Went here for a late brunch with my wife on Saturday. We sometimes overlook this place, but on a whim walked by and decided to go in I'll preface this by saying that their brunch drink specials are $2 mimosas and bloody Mary's. Eye opening! The mimosa was above average but the bloody was not good. Though, for $2 it is what it is. For our food, my wife got the breakfast enchiladas (came with 3) and I got the burrito. The enchiladas were average and the same can be said for the burrito. It got the job done, but wasn't like "holy cow we have to come back ASAP." The proximity and convenient location plus the good service will bring us back, but maybe we will try something else on the menu as far as brunch goes. Previously we have had the guacamole and the street corn and they were absolutely delicious.. worth ordering again and again! They did give some salsa on the side as well as sour cream and cotija cheese, so that was a nice little addition to the meal. Quiet Saturday in the restaurant, only 1 other table with us. Not the absolute best but not the worst, we may swing by again on a lazy afternoon.
