Tio Fun - Review - Franklin - Nashville - The Infatuation

"Tio Fun is the fast-casual weeknight solution when it’s 5:12pm,  everyone’s hungry, and nobody wants to negotiate. It’s the second location for the restaurant (theoriginalis in Nashville’s Buchanan District), and it buzzes like a Friday even on a Tuesday. The menu is a comfort-forward sweep of ginormous plate-sized tacos, pocho nachos, citrusy margaritas that don’t skimp on the lime, and the best tortilla chips in town. It’s delightfully kitschy (yes, that’s a cardboard cut-out of Selena by the door), and built for groups—easy to park and even easier to order. Keep it in your back pocket for last-minute meetups and any night that calls for something fun without the hassle of a waitlist." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones

Nashville’s Most Anticipated Restaurant Openings, Spring 2024 | Eater Nashville

"Mikey Corona and Brian Riggenbach are opening a second Tio Fun in Franklin this May, bringing a fast-casual Mexican menu that draws on Corona’s Hispanic heritage with flour tortilla tacos, quesadillas, and frozen margaritas as well as eye-catching items like pochos (potato spirals piled with nacho toppings), foot-long Tijuana-inspired hot dogs, and Mikey’s Super Taco that requires two hands to conquer." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones

I stumbled upon this place after a quick search on Apple Maps. I’ve been wanting to give it a try for ages. It was quite lively since it was dinner time. But don’t worry, there’s plenty of parking, and they even have outdoor seating. It’s a fast-casual spot, so you just place your order and take a seat with a number. I told the worker that I needed a bit of time because I’m new to the place. I went with the taco combo, and I also ordered a side of chips. They asked me about my salsa preference, and I chose the jalapeño cremosa. I asked for a cup of water, and they gave me one. I settled in and waited. When I went to grab my drink, I asked the guy if I needed a number or if they knew where I was sitting. He said he knew where I was, so I sat back down. The place was quite noisy, but as usual, I plugged in my AirPods and drowned out the sound. After a while, I noticed they were busy packing to-go orders. I was surprised when the same guy who took my order brought me a bag to my table. But guess what? He forgot to deliver my salsa or any utensils. I went back up and asked for them, and he handed me some plastic to-go utensils. I can’t believe they thought that was for to-go. I clearly asked for a number for my table and a cup of water from one of their cute, nostalgic plastic cups. But I un-bagged everything and started eating. Now, the tacos were small, but they were really tasty. I loved the flavor. The rice was a bit old and clumpy, though. The beans were good. The chips were freshly made, but they were a bit greasy and a tad too salty. But hey, there were quite a few of them, so it made up for it. Overall, for the combo and a side of chips, it was $18, which is a bit pricey.

The tacos were good, but you gotta specify if you want corn tortillas—mine came in flour, which was fine, but I prefer corn. The chips were awesome, and the salsa was so-so. If you love Taco Bell beans, get 'em, otherwise, they're a hard pass. BUT I'd totally go back for their carnitas and pastor tacos and chips!

GROSS don’t even waste your time. 2 teenage girls who didn’t smile or say anything to start. Paper plates small portions that were HORRIBLE. Check out the pictures. They say it all! (Pathetic Salad, burnt quesadilla and dry tacos)

Our first time in. We had a hard time ordering but it seemed like the person taking orders was in training. They were basically whispering so that combined with the music made it harder than ordering at a counter should be. Food was good, but not outstanding. The menu didn't fully describe the dish contents, so I ended up picking things out of the bowl I ordered We got excited about the bar - but the woman working it didnt seem to know anything about the drink menu options, so we just ordered a house margarita. It was disappointing. Best thing about this place was the Playlist, if i'm being honest.

Really enjoy this unique restaurant with a creative take on Mexican that really stands out. My favorite are the skirt steak tacos with a "Corn in a Cup." Easy, breezy vibe with well-crafted food. It's a walk-up counter with table delivery. Parking is on the side, mostly. And there is an outdoor patio in good weather.

Cool vibe. Great food. There really are no waiters or waitresses. But I recalled enjoyed it.

D Tier Tacos. Very expensive and very small portions of protein came on my tacos. The barbacoa and pollo tacos tasted okay, but both contained more shell than anything. The green salsa was horrible and the red sauce tasted like pizza buffet pizza sauce! You get absolutely no side garnishes except a very very small lime slice. For as expensive as it is, I was surprised to see my food served on paper plates. Dined as soon as it opened and it was dead and the staff was goofing around. I have to say this place is a Pass for sure.

Great food, fun, casual atmosphere. Came here for lunch and our party had the Steak Lonche, the Mini Mexican “Pizza” and some chips and queso. They have really interesting food options and it was all very tasty! We ate outside but ambience is great either way.
