Nestled in the West Village, Tivoli Trattoria boasts a charming, beachy vibe with a pastel decor and serves up tasty, reasonably priced Italian dishes that hit the spot.
"Gran Tivoli is a good group dinner option for three key reasons. First and most importantly (at least for this guide), it has big round tables with booth seating on one side and chairs on the other. Second, the Italian menu is long, and most of the dishes are shareable. We like the polenta with crab and strozzapreti with lamb ragu, but the best thing we’ve tried is actually the veal schnitzel with soft-boiled eggs and anchovies. Finally, there’s a great cocktail bar in the basement called Peppi’s Cellar, where you’ll want to get drinks before or after dinner." - bryan kim, matt tervooren
"Tivoli Trattoria serves an important purpose, and that purpose is to look like a beach club in Positano and serve reasonably priced Italian food to people who can’t get into . In a casual room with a pastel color scheme, basket light fixtures, and billowing fabric hanging from the ceiling, you can get some very decent short rib pappardelle, or a puffy 12-inch pizza topped with soppressata and hot honey. If you’re adventurous, there’s also the golf ball-sized cacio e pepe gnocchi. They’re slightly gimmicky, and pretty delicious, thanks to an abundance of cheese. Most items are in the $20-$25 range, which is reasonable for the area, and the best part is: Reservations are plentiful. " - Bryan Kim
"One of the newer additions to the West Village Italian scene, Tivoli Trattoria is a cute place where you can always get a reservation. If you’d like to visit the Amalfi Coast, but don’t quite have the funds, come here and enjoy some reasonable pasta in a pastel room that looks like a beachside cabana. Most of the entrees—like chicken limone, linguine scampi, and various pizzas—cost between $20-$25, and they all get the job done. It’s also worth noting that there are a lot of good gluten-free options." - Bryan Kim
