Ordered the Hibiscus Paloma, Passion Fruit Margarita, and the Fajita Burrito. The drinks were quite nice and refreshing to have, they taste more like juice than alcohol if you prefer your alcoholic beverages to be light. The Fajita Burrito was disappointing. While the portion was a good size, the rice was unusually crunchy and brittle, almost like they were undercooked. My friend who was with me said this was not like the last time they had ordered, that this may have been a one-off that we both had that evening (Saturday evening around 7PM). We chose not to report this at the time as we had a long day and did not feel the urge to have it looked over. The rest of the fajitas, beans, chicken, and guacamole were fine, just a letdown from the texture of the rice. Hopefully, they can review their rice cooking processes and make adequate changes to cooking and hot storing needs. The location is very calm, with a low to moderate amount of foot traffic through the restaurant, a few tables of small parties having an evening meal.

Tocaya Modern Mexican in San Diego is a delightful culinary experience that blends tradition with modern flair. As a vegan-friendly establishment, Tocaya caters to diverse palates, offering a variety of delectable options. Their menu features salads, tacos, burritos, bowls, and quesadillas, all rooted in authentic Mexican recipes. Whether you’re a dedicated vegan or simply appreciate wholesome ingredients, they have something for everyone. 🌱 During my recent visit, I ordered their burrito, generously filled with a medley of plant based ingredients. The quesadilla, featuring creamy avocado and gooey vegan mozzarella cheese, was a delightful treat. And my wife had one of their salads with vegan protein GF tortilla chips. Tocaya’s commitment to freshness and customization truly shines through, making it a must-visit spot for those seeking a health-conscious and delicious dining experience. 🌟 If you’re in San Diego, don’t miss the chance to explore Tocaya Modern Mexican. Whether you’re a vegan enthusiast or simply appreciate good food, this restaurant promises a memorable culinary journey. 🌮🌿

This place was very empty for it being a Friday night. The vegan queso was really good, we couldn't really tell it was vegan! We really liked our drinks, I especially liked the guava margarita. They have a good sized patio (dog friendly of course), and we liked that you can place your whole order from a QR code at your table (they have a counter inside if you hate that as well). The only downside to this place is some of the food was pretty spicy, and they didn't really indicate that in the menu. My wife struggled with her tacos because they were super spicy. My quesadilla had a little bit of a kick to it as well. A warning would have been nice, especially for the tacos. Note that the food was still good, just spicy, and if you can't handle your spice that might cause trouble. Otherwise the food was solid. There's other places in One Paseo (and Del Mar Highlands) that I like better, but if I was in the mood for Mexican and I saw one of their many locations I'd know what to expect and would be down for it again.

Google
Fresh, Healthy & Very Vegan Friendly Tocaya is a great spot for healthy Mexican inspired dishes like salads, tacos, bowls and more. The majority of their menu is already vegan with the option to add a protein and cheese of your choice. Vegan proteins include Adobo Tofu, vegan picadillo and vegan chicken, while they offer vegan mozzarella and chipotle jack as well. Some favorites... Protein Bowl (ordered without the scrambled eggs it comes with, substitute extra adobo tofu) Taco Salad with vegan chicken and vegan mozzarella Cali Style Tacos with vegan picadillo and vegan chipotle jack. Try them as a butter lettuce wrap for an extra fresh take.

Google
The food is good. We came in 35 minutes before closing. The food was going to take 20 minutes. We felt bad but they said it's fine because there's still a lot of people who actually ordered before us. Place is clean and tidy. I shall return!!

Despite having an issue the first time I ordered takeout, I ordered Tocaya again to give it another shot tonight. This is my guiltless quesadilla. ONE shrimp and ONE mushroom. Adding shrimp cost $3.45 plus tax and my quesadilla had 4 shrimp and, I counted, 7 mushroom slices total. This is ridiculous. The first time I ordered Tocaya they charged me for avocado that they didn’t add on 2 different items. Mistakes happen, but this quesadilla is pathetic. I’m so disappointed and I guess I just need to give up on trying to get food there.

Google
Such a great restaurant! They have a great menu with lots of variety. They also have an extensive menu for vegan food and make it easy to substitute with any of their regular menu items. Definitely check out the plantain chips and guac as well as happy hour and taco Tuesday! Not to mention the atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice and the outdoor patio is beautiful!

Google
Bummed to write this as I love this spot and regularly get take out from here. The service is fast, has great plant based options and the flavor is spot on, but I can’t justify the smaller portions each time I stop by! Feels wrong paying $12 for a burrito slightly larger than a tiny bulk bag value frozen burrito. Relatively small hand for scale

Yelp
This place is slept on for Taco Tuesday! It was actually a pretty good deal! The tacos were very gourmet, if a little small. Although it's an order at the counter style restaurant I felt it was pretty upscale, so it was a bit of a strange mix. I also had a margarita which was good if a bit heavy on the syrupy flavor. The chips and Queso were vegan without a non vegan option, which wasn't our preference, but still tasted good

Yelp
Our first time here, and we were impressed. Maybe they turned things around (based on reviews). Came here on a Monday night around 6:30pm. Place was pretty empty. Nice staff member helped us with the menu since it was our first time. We've been looking for a healthier option around the neighborhood, and this place is perfect. Grilled Pineapple Al Pastor (with Adobo Tofu added) was delicious. Ingredients went well together. Good portion size. Adobo tofu was spicy (how I like it). There new Yucatán Chop was great. Love the cilantro-lime dressing. Get the Guacamole with Plantain chips. Oh so good. Street Corn side is also good. But it's is spicy. We put this corn on some of our dishes to spice them up. Inside decor is fancy. Very clean. Guy that brought us out the food was very nice and funny. Definitely coming here again to try some other food items. They sound tasty.

Yelp
This place is okay , it's very Americanized Mexican food. I've tried the bowls and burritos. The burritos seem to have more rice than meat. The chips and salsa is pretty okay. I do enjoy the aqua frescas so I imagine the margaritas are just as good.
google avatar

Yelp
i went here randomly yesterday and it was really good actually i wasn't expecting it to be so yummy! got the al pastor bowl without beans. place is so cute and in a nice area, love the decor. staff was friendly and super quick service!
google avatar

Yelp
Great customer service! The majority of their whole menu can be modified to be vegan. I tried the vegan taco flight and it was delicious! I went during the week so the ambiance was quiet and I could dine alone in peace. The place is great for your carnivore and plant based peeps!
google avatar

Shelly S.

Yelp
As someone who is strict gluten free this is one of those places you can go to without having to worry to much. Staff is very well educated and almost the whole menu is gluten free. I haven't had a burrito in probably 4 years. So good!

Yelp
First time here after passing by so many times at the mall. I was impressed with the food quality and variety of the menu. They do have vegan options which is a huge plus for any eatery in this area, traditional yet unique proteins in your favorite Mexican food forms such as chicken, salmon, beef in various delicious-sounding burritos, bowls and taco recipes. The tortillas they use for tacos are really good. And the guac comes with pomegranate which adds a delectable sweetness to the plantain chips they come with. They also have cocktails and desserts. It was my first time but my fiancées family definitely had great things to say about this modern Mexican restaurant. I tried the house quesadilla and it was bomb. Bigger than I expected, perfect amount of ooey gooey Oaxaca cheese, choice of protein and MUSHROOM. This is what caught my eye and honestly it was a great combo in a quesadilla. I chose Chicken Tinga for my protein which added a mild spice flavor. Shout out to the worker for his recommendation as well. Overall clean and organized location as is the rest of One Paseo, would come back!

Yelp
A friend recommended this place to have dinner at while she was in town and I absolutely loved it. The food was amazing- I immediately wanted to try and remake the salad I got at home and my friend liked her burrito. I highly recommend the plantain chips with guacamole, I wish every restaurant had that option. Service wasn't very attentive but granted it was just a weeknight. I definitely will be back to try more of the menu.

Yelp
My friend and I decided to grab a drink and some food at One Paseo. She recently found she had a gluten allergy and I am a vegan, so it can be challenging to find a restaurant to accommodate us both. However, Tocaya offers modern Mexican cuisine featuring fresh, healthy ingredients and options for everyone - including an abundance of vegan and vegetarian food. We started off with the vegan queso and guacamole. Both were okay, though I wish the tortilla chips had a little more salt. The queso and guacamole could have had a tad bit more flavor and seasoning, but were still pretty tasty. The taco salad was an enormous portion and a bit on the spicy side. While I enjoyed it, the Baja Taco was by far my favorite of the two. It was flavorful and filling! The strawberry margarita could possibly be the best drink I have ever had and they have some phenomenal happy hour deals, including $7 margaritas and $5 cervezas. I love all the little shops in One Paseo - even got to enjoy some ice cream from Salt & Straw by the outdoor fire pit after eating, which really added to the experience of Tocaya. The menu can be a bit overwhelming, so I would suggest looking it over online before your visit! Taco Salad - (shredded organic kale & romaine mix, tajin dusted tortilla strips, grilled corn, black beans, shredded cabbage, lime, onions & cilantro, diced roma tomato, avocado & roasted poblano dressing) Baja Taco - (vegan adobo tofu and vegan mozzarella topped with cabbage, sweet chipotle sauce, cilantro, and vegan chipotle crema in a house-made blue corn tortilla)

Yelp
This place looks nice but their nicely decorated interior, ambiance, and prices fool you. I went with the Fajita Del Rey bowl with carne asada. The bowl was mainly beans. They include the smallest portion of meat. I know that business photos vs what you get in real life are never the same but that is especially true here. Their bowls look so sad and worse than Chipotle. It definitely tastes better than Chipotle, but for over $18 a bowl, the portion was tiny and we were both hungry afterwards. This is a casual restaurant where you can order at the counter. Good to try for a quick lunch because food comes out very quick.

Yelp
Always wanted to dine in at Tocaya and got a chance to do so last weekend. First of Tocaya has one of the most Vegan/Vegetarian friendly menu!! So much to choose from! We got the Chips and Salsa, Chips and Guacamole, Vegan Asada Tacos and Barrio Tacos with Adobo Tofu. Chips with Salsa and Guacamole, both were great! The pomegranate and pumpkin seeds added a nice twist to the Guacamole. Of the two tacos, I preferred the Barrio with Tofu over Asada mainly cause I liked the Tofu better than the Vegan Picadillo. They have a taco sampler, I would recommend getting that if you are unsure. Tocaya at One Paseo has a huge outdoor seating with heating lamps. Just perfect for day as well as night dining. Service was just fine. I ordered at the counter and they brought the food out to our table. You can also scan the QR code at your table to place an order. Tocaya may not be the most authentic Mexican restaurant in So Cal but it is definitely the most vegetarian friendly!

Yelp
Dropped by her for an early dinner after a meeting at a business next door which was easily walking distance. Looked around this area and lots of restaurant and boutique stores. Decided I was craving Mexican food and never tried this place so figured I'd give it a shot. Lots of selections to choose from and I chose the protein bowl which came with cauliflower rice, black beans, eggs, and protein of choice of which I chose chicken which was a bit spicy. The bowl felt healthy and not fatty or oily at all. Chicken was spicy and flavorful and I was definitely full here. I love the customization available in that you could pick protein or cheese of choice. Also nice option is you could sit down and order from your table and they would bring your food over. They had a bar which was nice although I wasn't drinking as well as outdoor seating but it was too cold but nice option to have. Really good place for dinner!

Lindsee P.

Yelp
I want to like this place based on location. Been there twice and the food is pricey and tasteless. Cheese is completely flavorless and rice old. Not worth the price tag.

Yelp
I am a Tocaya Stan! If I could, I'd eat Tocaya on a weekly basis. I just love it so much. It's super clean and doesn't make you feel gross after eating it. My go to is the fiesta del Rey bowl. I love the vegan picadillo. I actually really like all the vegan options here. One star down because we stood around for a really long time before anyone came to help us and then the order took an extraordinary amount of time. I ordered a fish taco as I hadn't seen it on the menu before but it was really dry and hard to eat. On the flip side, husband ventured out to get the mushroom taco and it was really good! Moral of the story: go vegan here.

Nick P.

Yelp
I went on a Tuesday and they had great specials. The tacos were amazing and the margarita was perfect. Lily was so sweet in answering all my questions about the food and gave me good recommendations. Can't wait to go back! They also have a great patio.

Wendy G.

Yelp
I got the fajita del ray bowl without crema to go. The flavor was good and it was fresh and healthy. However, the bowl seemed to be about half rice, and they forgot my queso fresco. Hopefully it's better next time.
google avatar

Jheel G.

Yelp
I really appreciate this location because of the fantastic outdoor seating and the super convenient online ordering system. When my family visited me in San Diego, I brought them here, and they were thoroughly impressed! The tacos were not only delicious but also had unique flavors. We had a great time sampling each other's choices. The chips and guacamole were a great starter, and the drinks were perfect for a warm summer day in San Diego. I can't wait to come back the next time I'm in town!

Yelp
Dang. Another expensive restaurant. 19$ for my burrito was insane. 16$ plus 3$ for guac which they didn't even end up putting in my burrito - it was just thin slices of avocado. The burrito was very healthy, hence the name. But for that price...make it come with some rice or beans on the side, or some chips. Lol I expected a bigger burrito like the ones you get a those Mexican restaurants on the corner of your street. I understand this is Del Mar, but gosh, 19$!! Not including the price of my drink which was also expensive and hardly had any alcohol. It just tasted like a regular agua fresca. Service wasn't the best either. The girls looked miserable and sleepy lol Will I be back? No:(

Yelp
This is one place I regularly frequent with my co-workers for lunch and boy is shrinkflation real in my last visit. Generally Tocaya is a slightly slower lunch break option than nearby Cava or Tender Greens, but if we're going out for team lunch on a Tuesday, we generally select Tocaya for tacos. Being that I'm eating with professional colleagues, I prefer an option that utilizes utensils and so I almost always get a bowl. In the last visit, I got the grilled pineapple al pastor bowl with the recommended diablo chicken for protein and queso fresco cheese. You can order at the table with the QR code and pay via mobile or enter the line and take your number to a table to wait for your food. Food came out after some time (again one of the slower places) and I received a half filled bowl. The queso fresco, avocado, and pineapple were fresh. Chicken was dry and so I tried to salvage it by mixing it into the black beans. But most annoyingly, I was hungry 2 hours later.

Bleema M.

Yelp
They helped me create a bowl that fit my diet and we were delighted with the care he took. But that is as far as the delight went. My husband's shrimp were the small ones and dried out and overcooked. My chicken was tasteless and way over cooked - dry. My cilantro rice was dry and unseasoned. The refried beans were good. The corn was spiced after we had spent the time with him looking for non-spicy items. The sauce tasted like plain mayonnaise. There was no sauce for my husband's plate. My husband liked the cauliflower rice. It was $43 which included a 15% tip. Enjoying breakfast after trying to plod through that dinner.

Yelp
Excellent cuisine and ambience Customer friendly/pet friendly Good drinks / cocktails

Yelp
Tocaya Organica produces some really outstanding food. The ambiance is good in this location - much better than in the UTC mall, but I have never seen a crowd in either location. I am not really sure why. Tocaya offers really excellent and moderately priced organic Mexican/fusion food! I've probably been a dozen times, and I usually order the Keto Bowl, with either vegan chicken or sometimes the real deal. Either way, it is filling, healthy, and delicious. The portion looks smallish, but its absolutely satisfying and I don't ever go away hungry. If you haven't tried Tocaya, now is the time! Grab an outside table and enjoy the weather - it's a nice spring/summer lunch or even casual dinner if you are in the area.

Yelp
Our favorite go to spot in San Diego. Love their bowls, quesadillas, tacos and even burritos. Their sides are great, especially the plaintain chips with either one of their quesos or guacamole.
google avatar

Nicole D.

Yelp
Came here for dinner with 2 others. I was excited by the many vegetarian options but when my other vegetarian guest bit into their dish they said it didn't taste right. To our dismay there was real meat in her dish. It left us not really trusting the other food. My dish the guiltless burrito was well flavored and honestly I was stuffed after a half. I am not sure I'll return.

Yelp
Very good food! I love the healthy combinations they come up with and the consistency is across all of their locations. They never disappoint. I definitely recommend!!

Yelp
All the stars do for the food. It is healthy food, portions are right, and delicious! Knocking off two stars for service. When they first opened, I noticed that their customer service was pretty mild. I touted that to be a newly opened place. The past years, I just order takeaway since it is conveniently located for work. The online ordering system is easy to use as well. My favorite is the guiltless burrito. So filling and reassuring to bite into knowing it's wayyyy healthier than other places. But the other night, I finally did in person dining with a friend, and I found the customer service to be mild. There were a couple of employees that were chirpy, but most looked like they did not want to be there at all.
google avatar

Yelp
Decided to try this place for lunch. Had the Diablo Chicken burrito and an asada taco. Both were very tasty and filling. The only thing was that the burrito was nowhere near being Diablo level spicy. It was more like baby Diablo still trying to learn to be spicy. Dial up the spicy and it'll actually be Diablo...or change the name ‍‍

Yelp
Need to give an update as I've tried most of the food on the menu at this point. Finally tried the tacos and they were the smallest tacos I've ever seen! My first thought was that they must have given me kids tacos by mistake. I got the vegan cheese on them and while I know that vegan cheese doesn't melt very well they didn't even cook the cheese at all, it looks like they took some Daiya mozzarella shreds out the bag and just placed them on top. I got the 2 taco combo which includes 2 tacos, chips and one of the refresher drinks for a little over $12. Not worth it at all due to the small portions. The drink was not an upgrade over something you'd get at Panera for example. Some of the salsas offered are good but they all cost extra (around $1) and some of them are way too sweet tasting. The salsa Verde is honestly the only one I really like. My biggest problems with this place are: - Small portions - A little pricy - Sometimes lack of flavor or spices - No option to write in a note when ordering online (can't tell them to not cut the burrito in half, etc.) - Often long waits
google avatar

Yelp
Cute place. You go in and place your order at the counter. They have loooong tables with multiple chairs. Some high, others normal height. The kitchen is behind a huge piece of glass so you can see them preparing the food. It looked cool. The food was good. Fresh and tasty. I got the Grilled Pineapple Al Pastor. Also ordered guac with PLANTAIN chips. I love plantain chips, I get them every time I see them on a menu. The chips were great! But only thing is they missed my Al Pastor. My friends got their taco orders first - I thought that was normal because my order was bigger. But I eventually went to the counter and they apologized because they "gave my order away on accident." My food came out pretty quickly after that. And they comped me a free guac. Guac was good but great. Would only recommend it for happy hour. Overall, it was good. Will be back.
google avatar

Yelp
There's plenty of free parking in the structure! This was my first time trying tocaya and I was hesitant since they have so many locations so it's not a locally run spot, but I actually really enjoyed it. No one acknowledged us for probably ~4 minutes when we came in which was not my favorite since I was confused and had never been there before, but once someone came over to greet us the staff was super nice. We ended up getting street corn (good - pretty spicy though), a taco, and the guiltless burrito with shrimp (really enjoyed it!). I'd definitely get the guiltless burrito again and it's so big you can split it. Everything else was good but wouldn't go out of my way to order again. Overall it's good quality, flavorful, and a nice fast casual option. The space itself is so cute and the outdoor patio is lovely to sit on and eat or work!

Yelp
I love that this place is casual and beautiful all at the same time. Located inside of One Paseo, this business offers both inside and outdoor dining. You order at the front, they give you a number, and then they bring the food out to you. I ordered the following: -Cali taco ($2.95) -pina pastor taco ($2.95) -Baja taco ($5.15) -taco combo- quest and street corn ($5.15) -pineapple Jarrito ($2.95) Pros: -friendly staff -love the decor both inside and outside (4/5) -free parking in the parking structure -lots of healthy options available -they have a chef recommendation or you can choose your own protein -restroom was clean Cons: -overall, I felt that the food was a 3/5. For example, the queso was pretty thin and kept sliding off the tortilla chip.

Yelp
i loveeee tocaya!!! my go to is their street corn bowl with the vegan beer battered mushrooms. however, they could be a little more generous with the amount of mushrooms they add. their guava magarita is sweet and tasty and i love this location especially due to their beautiful outdoor seating area.

Sony M.

Yelp
I used to love going to Tocaya but lately their tacos are becoming smaller and smaller in size and prices are not reflecting that. Tacos taste nice though. I like the fact that they can make any dish on their menu vegetarian.

Tara S.

Yelp
Total skimp on this kids meal... $8 for a tiny amount of food. Unbelievable. This place is only a little better tasting than fast food.

Cecile A.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time. Was overwhelmed by the menu layout and had a hard time choosing. A nice gentleman helped by explaining the options. Settled on the "safe" tacos. They were brought out quickly and were very good but I left hungry. It wasn't a satisfying experience.

Albert S.

Yelp
Well i really like this place however on my second visit a friendly insect walked out of my salad. That was unexpected and i assumed the vegetables were not properly washed. The staff that evening seemed very young and not too experienced. After complaining they didnt refund my meal or offer another one All i got was the offer of a free cookie or minor desert option. Well as u can guess i wont be back anytime soon. Thank goodness there r other great options like medecino farms, Tendergreens, urban plates and Tocaya. At least they know how to wash the vegetables!!

Nancy C.

Yelp
We used to enjoy this place when it first opened. But recently it's been underwhelming and every visit seems to be worst than the previous. Today the indoors seating was pretty dirty. I had to clean the rice off the seats. After sitting down I saw something wiggling....below my table was an almost dead cockroach. So I just moved outside. But pretty much lost my appetite. My Tocaya salad was really bland. I remember it used to taste much better. Someone forgot to seasoning the dressing. Lettuce was wilting. Not sure if I'll go back.

Yelp
Ambiance is great. Burrito reminded me of Taco Bell days as a teenager. Food is truly mediocre. Wish the food quality matched their nice ambiance. I was disappointed and won't be coming back.
google avatar

Lauren B.

Yelp
Tocaya never disappoints. Saturday afternoon and no line to order food. Surprising, as the food here is consistently delicious. Service is quick and friendly. Waited less than ten minutes for the Fajita burrito to come out. We shared it and it was the perfect amount to satiate our hunger post beer. Of course, there's always room for chips & guacamole, but we'll save that for another day.
google avatar

Karina V.

Yelp
Love Tocaya. It's not the same as when it first opened though. But I love how there are so many vegan options but also options for the carnivores. Perfect date spot for people who have different diets from one another.
google avatar

Aks C.

Yelp
5 star for the food 1 star for portion size 4 star for overall experience Average: 3.5 stars So I ordered 1) Guiltless burrito supposed to include cauliflower rice and it includes just regular white rice. I've been off rice for 3 months and there it goes, diet down the drain. Not the end of the world but didn't like being tricked into eating rice when I ordered gultless- tasty burrito with a lot of guilt 2) Street corn for $5 off Ubereats, guess their website prices are probably lower. Portion size was just hilarious, tasted great though Def scope for improvement, may or may not return depending on how I generous I feel in the future Point to note, as a San Diego, it's hard to beat Mexican food so Tocaya would never win but can they thrive? We will see

It wasn't bad. Maybe will give it another shot later, but I thought the food would come out a lot sooner since it wasn't too busy and all we ordered was chips and a quesadilla. I'm not sure if I would come back.

Yelp
Everything is so weird now because of Covid. I feel like this place is no different. My friend and I walked into the ghost town of a restaurant to place our order. They were all set up inside for delivery/call in orders. The one employee seemed surprised that we walked in. He took our order and told us to pick up our food on the other side of the restaurant where they have the closed outdoor seating area. We found a table in the courtyard and waited. My friend finally went to check and was told they put our food on the table. We never heard or saw anyone. I think if they want no contact they should at least take our number and text us when the food was ready. Needless to say our food was on the cold side. I had asked for the cauliflower rice but was given Spanish rice. I decided to just eat it because we had waited for so long. It had absolutely no flavor at all. The achiote chicken taco and the mahi tacos were good. They would have been better hot. The guacamole and chips were the favorite part of my meal. All the food is packaged up like a gift. The bags are literally gift bags. Seems like a waste of packaging but we are probably paying for it.

Yelp
I absolutely love the food here! The restaurant itself is gorgeous, very bright and spacious. They have such a great variety on their menu, i usually go with the tacos and 2 sides special which is a great value. I've tried my way through most of their menu and enjoyed everything. The proteins are delicious as are the sides and salads. They use high-quality ingredients and you can really taste the difference. Highly recommend it!

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time. Spicy verde bowl looks amazing on the picture. NOT exactly what I get when I got it- pretty sad looking. See their Ad pic vs what I got. It's a one time experience only for sure. Service was meh!

Yelp
This is not for the food, but for the customer service. I had the worst experience today. My GF and I were meeting for lunch and she had never been here and was up for trying a new place when I mentioned we should go there. It wasn't busy when we arrived. We decided on what we wanted. Both chose soups. No big deal, right? We sit and wait. The food is dropped by a Manager after waiting about 15 mins for soup. I asked for No tortilla strips. First they brought me the wrong soup, that went back. When mine arrived, it had tortilla strips in it. I pick them out. Not a huge deal. I had also ordered chicken on the side. No chicken came. By this time my soup is lukewarm and when I go to ask the guy at the counter to check on my chicken, he asked for a minute because he was the only one there taking orders at lunch and a few people had started to trickle in. He never came back to tell me anything, so I wait. Nothing, I grab the manager on his way back into the kitchen and he says oh, well he didn't ring it in, but if you want to wait I can go ring you in and get you that. Are you joking? My soup was wrong, than it had something in it I asked to not be in it. Than I received no chicken and he wanted me to wait longer to go ring it in before they made it for me?? I was shocked. The WORST service. Just so you know if you are reading this-It was YOUR mistake, I informed you of all that had already went wrong and that my soup was ALREADY cold. You should have apologized, said you would take mine back and bring me a hot soup with the chicken and all would have been great. Lost a customer-

Yelp
I got the Baja tacos with chicken Tinga and a side of black beans. They were very small, smaller than your average taco. It was really good. I especially liked the cabbage and sauce with it. The black beans is average and really small as well. My 4 stars is for the quality and taste of the food. The service was slow since there was one employee working and I applaud her efforts to get to everyone. I hope that Tocaya can bring on more staff to ensure prompt services.

Yelp
Disclaimer: this is a pre-covid review - not sure how things are running now! Food: 3/5, Ambiance: 5/5, Service: 4/5 I feel like this place is a little overhyped, but it is a cute setup and nice that they are using organic ingredients. My friend ordered a Cali and a Barrio taco and sweet corn on the side. The tacos were too dry (both shells and ingredients) and corn was decent. He also had a watermelon drink that he said was good! I had the fajita burrito which I thought was also decent and the ingredients tasted fresh! Service was good - the employees were nice but the food took a while to arrive, probably 20-30 minutes.

Yelp
The vegan churros waffle was not properly cooked and bitter. I had to throw it away since it was not eatable.
