"This is not the flashiest Korean barbecue option in the city, nor does it have the biggest menu of add-ons and made-to-order dishes. But the centrally located Toji is everything it needs to be: a grill on every table, a better exhaust system than most, and a satisfying spread of banchan and dipping sauces for every bite of fresh-fired meat. Toji’s entry-level all-you-can-eat deal comes with six choices of meat, but those who want galbi and skirt steak will need to upgrade to the next level." - Rebecca Roland, Krista Garcia, Lauren Yoshiko

My girlfriend and I went here for dinner. We chose the Option D on the all you can eat menu and were shocked at the quality of the food we received. It was much better than similar all you can eat kbbq places we have been in both Oregon and California. Katie our attendant was very nice and sweet and explained the menu to us. She came by frequently but not to the point where it was ruining the atmosphere of our date. Will definitely be recommending this place to our friends and family

Very nice place, helpful staff and lovely food! We called beforehand and made a reservation but there is a waitlist at the restaurant too if you want. Very delicious meat and side dishes!

We ordered unlimited Korean bbq. There r 4 options, I think option A is enough. All kind of meat they give is such a big portion. First they will ask u to choose 4 kinds of meat, but I suggest asking for only 2 at the beginning. The beef brisket is good. The marinated meat sauce is too sweet for me, so we only choose beef brisket for second round. Staff are all very friendly, they will come to ask what you need even they are often very busy. The only downside is their kimchi has a bit odd of taste. But other side dishes are good .

Went here with a group of friends on a Friday night with no reservations, had to wait a little while before we were seated but wasn’t too long. Once we were seated service was prompt, friendly, and informative. Admittedly we are all fairly new to Korean BBQ and the serve could tell. She gave us tips and tricks on how to cook the meat more efficiently. All the meat was delicious and so were the sides. The soju juice pitchers were amazing as well.

Updated Review March 7, 2025: as a couple, we walked in like we always have done. Signed up on their reservation list as a walk-in. Every name above our's was seated and crossed off. So we were next. We sat on the bench for 30 minutes. No one from the restaurant checked in again, or let us know what the wait time would be. We were patiently waiting. ⏳️ 📋🕕 One Waitress asked if we had reservations and I pointed to the clipboard near us saying, "yes we signed up." My name was down and it said "6:40pm" when I signed up. She walked off and we didn't see her again. We saw another couple right by the front door finish eating, pay and leave. So bam! A table opened up. After 30 minutes, two more couples walked in. Just like we did. Signed up. THEN they were both seated before we were even acknowledged. It was really disappointing and upsetting. We left as soon as that happened and it left us not wanting to come back again. It wasn't fair at all. 😢😭 Our previous 2 experiences here, we got seated immediately, put in the corner, and neglected as soon as our food arrived. So we always got Buffet style (no refilling of the foods though) which is plenty of food for us both, the sides are very small to share between 2 people so I would suggest asking for more right away when you have their attention. We always also get 2 large beers so we don't have to wait around for refills. Review from 2024: The Korean BBQ Buffet menu? Do it! $30.99/per person. Tons of meats to choose from, little sides, and sauces. What a deal! They dissappear on you though, no refilling on drinks or food unless you get up and wave them down to ask. ($10 charge for asking for a box of course for food that isn't eaten. Just so you know, its on the menu in fine print).

The restaurant was very clean, the food was very fresh and the service was great. I love that the vent for the grill works so well. Usually, when we eat kbbq, we feel greasy and sticky, and we don't feel this way at Toji. My phone was even on the table and didn't have any grease splatters. We would be back, for sure. The only reason I give 4 stars is because the first time we tried to eat here, we waited over an hour for a table and left to eat somewhere else. I'm glad we gave them a second chance.

Had a wonderful dinner date here. We came on a weekday night so it wasn’t too busy and were seated immediately. Choose the all you can eat option D which had lots of variety. The meat was fresh and of high quality. Our waitress was very kind and attentive. If you’re craving Korean bbq or want to try something new I definitely recommend this place!

Sometimes it's hard to locally find Korean BBQ that isn't super packed inside with a wait list. My partner and I had driven around town looking for places and stumbled across Toji from a Google search. It was just what we were looking for. We came near the last hour of service and we were seated quickly, plus our food also arrived fast. Service was polite, and the restaurant was clean. The meats taste delicious though they can be a little bit on the pricey side, though definitely fair for what you get. Sauces complement the meat well. Parking can be tricky, but this place is cozy and well worth a visit.

Yelp
very friendly staff, the place has a good environment and a nice vibe. Food was good, definitely better quality than some other kbbq places ive been too. Good portions too! After going a few times ive learned If you arent going right when they open definitely try to reserve ahead of time because they quickly become fully booked for the night.

Yelp
I was skeptical coming to Toji, I've heard a lot of mixed reviews so I went into it with no expectations. I was blown away. I went with package B & was very satisfied. I came with one other person but we could only handle 2 rounds! Normally, at other places like K-Town we get 4 rounds before we call it quits. It seems like they give you a lot more meat since it isn't frozen like other places I've been to. The meat quality is a lot better & I like the grill set up. It allows the grease to drip off the meat a lot more making the meat more crispy & less soaked in grease. The banchan (side dishes) were phenomenal. Everything was so fresh & perfectly seasoned. Our server was so nice. I did notice that the rice is not unlimited, you only get one bowl per person then after that it's charged for another. I like that they had 3 different dipping sauces as well as the ssamjang. We did have to pay extra for rice cakes which is usually included at other places but the rice cakes here were the best I've had since the way it's sliced instead of just the traditional rice cake rolls. They crisp up so perfectly & one serving lasted us a long time. Seating was a little cozy, I wouldn't recommend this place for groups bigger than 4 but that's just my opinion. I'm not sure how many people must be in your party to get an additional grill. Overall, probably the best & my favorite AYCE KBBQ place I've been to in the Portland area so far. It is more pricey but the quality of meat & side dishes is a lot better. Bummed about the rice refills costing extra since I'm a rice lover but not a deal breaker unless you plan on eating 4+ bowls of rice. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Toji was absolutely amazing! It is one of my favorite Korean BBQ joint in Portland! I visited here on a Friday evening with my cousins and sister and we got seated right away! When you walk in - be prepare, you'll smell a pack of smoke Korean BBQ!! I recommend coming on an empty stomach as well if you're planning on doing AYCE. We came here for the BBQ and did the unlimited BBQ option B - $34.99. We wanted this option because in it there are galbi (short ribs) and jumulluck (beef short ribs). The BBQ came with rice, side dishes, salad, and sauces like sesame oil and ponzu. The BBQ was so delicious that we did at least 4 rounds of meats. My favorite was the jumulluck, it was so tender and flavorful. Overall the quality of the meat was great! Service was super friendly as well- he was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed/want. I'll be coming back with friends and family! Service- 5/5 Ambiance - 4.3/5 Food - 4.6/6

Yelp
As someone whose eaten at a lot of the kbbq in the area this is a new favorite. It is a little more expensive than some but the quality of the meat is really great for the price you are getting. I went with option B and was extremely satisfied with each round. Their banchan (side dishes) are also really good here as well. We ate as a group of four on a Thursday night so service was good and not crowded but I was told by another friend that you should always make a reservation for this place. I would definitely come back here!

Yelp
I came here quite a while ago. I was just by myself, but I was craving some Korean BBQ. The side dishes were pretty decent and they had more than the other Korean bbq place I tried in Portland. The quality of the meat was great. The staff was friendly, but when I asked to change the grill that had become all charred and covered - they said they do that there. Hmm. It was a shame. Overall, it was a decent spot and the prices were moderate.

Fianna S.

Yelp
Our waitress was so sweet!! I would go back just off of how fantastic our service was. Let alone the amazing food. My friends brought me here, I had never had Korean BBQ before and let me tell you, I am hooked!

Jasmine F.

Yelp
I don't know how I never tried this place being a Portland native but this is a go to place for Korean bbq in town! The biggest thing I would recommend is calling in for a reservation ahead of time, but also an FYI you may not always get through the line since they are short staffed. This Korean bbq location is a bit more expensive than the ones nearby but I would say you get what you pay for. I always go for the option B because of the skirt steak, and I personally only eat this and the chadol (beef brisket). The portions are fair and not overwhelming which honestly helps pace as you're eating and probably their food costs. You receive the typical banchan (side dishes) and rice. You can order veggies on the side: lettuce, zucchini, or mushrooms. There is a parking lot shared with another restaurant but it's fairly hit and miss if you will find an open space. Other than that, it's street parking. The service is great once you sit down. Upon walk in, there isn't always a host so expect to wait about 10-30 minutes depending on how busy it is before you are noticed and getting seated. If you do not have a reservation, expect at least an hour wait. They don't always notify about wait time because they are running around serving tables at the same time.

William ..

Yelp
1) The price is not competitive compared to those near SE 82nd. 2) Parking spots limited 3) We ordered skirt steak (#7, cheaper) in our first round and they gave us like a pound. That's like filling up our stomach having less quota for the more expensive meat. 4) Lettuce: comes with free only one time 5) Changing the grill mesh: also allows one time. So, our willingness to visit this place: only allows one time.

Yelp
The food is excellent. I have been to many Korean restaurants and this one is one of the best. The side dishes are amazing and the service is excellent. Korean food is my favorite food and I give Toji the big thumbs up. I wish that they opened for lunch.

Mike R.

Yelp
Bring your appetite if the grill is what your planning. Fairly speedy but you can order a lot of meat. Loads of lil side dishes and dip'n saucy options. Chill atmosphere like every party has their own campfire cooking table.

Katya M.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite restaurants in town. Great meat, lovely banchan, and wonderful people. It's more of a family place, and has less of a party atmosphere than other places in town. They take reservations and are good for big groups or small.

Jackie T.

Yelp
Pretty great dining experience. Friendly service, great atmosphere. A must destination for any meatatarian. One improvement would be to increase the quantity of side dishes to go with the grilled meats.

Sean M.

Yelp
One thing I like the most about this place is it doesn't make my clothes stink. Every other Korean BBQ place I've been to in Portland made me smell smoky after. They prob use the same sauce to marinate many types of meat on the menu because they taste basically the same. The sauce they use is very heavy and you will feel full very fast even though you are not really full. Everything tastes good at first then they will get very heavy. So if your goal is to get your money back, it is basically impossible. I'd suggest don't order pork belly first because it has too much fat it in and you might feel full even before you finish round 1. Takes a bit long for them to bring out food after round 1 and the portion gets very small. Very limited selection of veggies and the amount they give you is ridiculously small. Those veggies don't even taste good when grilled. Side dishes are okay, not the best. I need those sour-tasting side dishes to get my appetite back and keep going after eating all those meat, but they bring out refills very slowly and the portion is way smaller.

Yelp
I was wary of this place, but I had gotten a recommendation from a friend, so I decided to stop by. We made a reservation at 5:30, and got there on the dot. The place was pretty quiet and has a nice interior, however I did notice the grill was especially small for a group of 6. Waters came fast, but we did not receive menus or banchan for a significant amount of time. Additionally, when we wanted to order, it was long to call the waitress, and even longer for her to bring in our meat. When we did receive our meat, I did not feel like the $32.99 I paid for Option B reflected in the quality of the food I ate. The fat didn't melt into your mouth (even if it was fresh off the grill) and instead became significantly stringy. Since it is an AYCE course, we expected to be able to get portions repeatedly. We would've been finished for over ten minutes, but the waitress wouldn't come--not to mention their portions were very small. Also, rice was an extra charge! Their steamed egg in large was basically a snack portion, and we all barely got a spoonful. Compared to places like K-Koki and K-Town, I would choose to go to those places again over Toji's. Our waitress was nice, but it was clear the place was very VERY understaffed. I don't think I'll be returning. I'm disappointed, especially with the prices and the lack of service.

Yelp
Make a reservation before you go to Toji! I've been fortunate enough to have come in without one and gotten seated immediately and other times where I've had to wait well over an hour. I love their sauces here. The sides are okay, they can be better. There's a lot of options. I usually get one of the all you can eat option C when I go. Meat quality is pretty decent especially for all you can eat. I have noticed at other all you can eat places, they will not so nicely cut you off by telling you that they have run out of certain meats that you want. Not at Toji though, they keep the meats coming. I don't like that they don't change out the grill. After reading other reviews, I found out there's only one grill change by your request which is good to know on my next trip. Also, after closely reading the menu I just noticed the extras that you can ask for. I'm excited to try the steamed egg next time. For your last round, you can tell them to bring out a little less if you're feeling pretty full. There's a leftover per person charge stated in their menu. Service is okay. I always feel like I'm bothering the waitresses when I ask for more things. Aside from coming by and getting your next round of meats order, they don't really checkup to see if you need anything. I absolutely love that I leave this place not smelling like I've sat by a grill for awhile. Not sure how they do it, but other places should start taking notes.

Yelp
Toji....I am sad. I moved to Portland area in 2019 in search of some korean food for my korean stomach. I am STILL searching for some quality korean food. Now, to be clear, I would give the actual quality of the food a 3 star. But I had to give a 2 Star because of the many things I was missing. In classic style, I will start with my critical feedback and then move towards the encouragements. 1. Where is the gochujjang aka the korean spicy sauce? It's like if you were to go to a hot dog spot and see no ketchup. It's like going to get fish and chips and there is no tarter sauce. 2. Where is the service? I normally don't speak korean...mainly due to my shame and fear of man. But I was trying everything I could to get the attention to get a refill for my drink or garlic or ssamjang or refills for the side dishes. 3. Where is the rice wraps? Now, I do think they have rice wraps for the meat, but this costs extra...In my whole career, I have not seen extra pricing for the rice wraps...Now, times have changed, so I will be gracious and merciful, but sighs. For these reasons, I had to drop the 3stars to a 2 star. Now, I had the combo A and I thought the meat was pretty good quality. Overall, I was satisfied, but not enough where I would voluntarily come back. In terms of encouragements, I thought there was plenty of seating. There are plenty of items on the menu to enjoy.

Adalae M.

Yelp
First time here and I called ahead for reservation. Despite us being a few minutes late, the staff was very courteous and patient. The food was delicious and the "all you can eat" tiers are great. The burner is really cool (ideally max of 4 people). Would definitely visit again!

Yaya S.

Yelp
We made a reservation for 4, and got a bit held up on our way. We ended up being about 30 minutes late to our reservation, and even though they had some people waiting, the staff was about to quickly seat us. (Much appreciated!!) Our group opted for the AYCE option A, which really hit the spot! Even though I am not the biggest eater portion-wise, I felt that it was really worth the price. The boiz really enjoyed the brisket, and we ordered some beer/soju to pair with our meal. Pro tip from my significant other: grill the meats that are not marinated first, then follow up with the pre-marinated meats. This helps the grill not get too messy and decreases the amount of char/burnt stuff that gets stuck to the grill. Overall a really great experience, service was attentive and pleasant, given how busy they were on a friday night.

Adam W.

Yelp
Terrible! We spent $130 on good food but the service was shit. They tried to tell me I'm not Korean. Which I'm half. Fuck these guys ! Don't go. They suck

Brian R.

Yelp
All you can eat always affects the quality of the meats. Cheap cuts may have invited the demon spirit, dalgyal gwishin, to marinate the meat, because that faceless monster found its way, along with dinner, to the nether reaches of my colon, for some very unpleasant hours. The service was good, and other than finding that all you can eat also works in reverse, with a bad bit or two, it was a pretty decent Korean joint. If you see a faceless, egg-like creature floating over the BBQ table, DO hang it up for the night.

Gisselle F.

Yelp
Not that great and over priced. We weren't served that well and had to pay an extra $60 tip.

Greg L.

Yelp
I have gotten take out from Tojis several times and I has always been great. I particularly like their Ddokbokgi, Kimchi Juen and Haemul Pajuen. My daughter loved their Nabe Udon.

Kat L.

Yelp
I just moved from Hawaii, my bf and I have been looking for an authentic Korean restaurant. This was definitely it!!! We've been to multiple place's and they don't serve you lettuce, doenjang, and gochujang which is how you're suppose to eat kbbq!!! Even the meat quality was amazing! The Ajumma that worked there Katy she gave the best service and was so kind. I've read some of the reviews and honestly you just have to ask them to turn the heat up and ask for the lettuce and stuff. Also if you've been looking for pretty good jajangmyeon they have it!!

Mike M.

Yelp
My friends & I wanted to get KBBQ for dinner on the way back home from an Oregon road trip. We decided to go to Toji Korean Grill. In a nutshell, the food & service was decent. Compared to other KBBQ places I've been to, they had restrictions that threw my friends & I off. Such as only changing the grill once. The staff was also very slow in bringing our food out.

Amanda N.

Yelp
I was craving Korean bbq so my boyfriend recommended this. I want to give this place another try because we had company who doesn't eat beef or ate anything. I couldn't even order some meat that are my go-tos. The quality of meat though is fantastic! Sadly, there weren't a lot of extra options of meat (ex: pork cheek which is my favorite). We had to order AYCE and items (pancake, rice cake, etc). But I will give it a try one more time and review this again. TBD..

Bradley K.

Yelp
We walked into this place last night and stood waiting at the front area (first in line) for over 15 minutes before told they did not accept walk-ins. They are severely understaffed as we saw people sitting waiting very long to be served. I would not bother trying to go to this place again. Parking is terrible too.

Kccstrong A.

Yelp
Amazing food (we got option C), amazing experience, AMAZING waitperson Jade she's "as good as it gets." We ate like kings this past Wednesday night and hope to make it a monthly ritual (but gotta start working out more if so/THAT was a lot of incredible, Ono-Delicious food on the grill.

Taj T.

Yelp
My Gold Standard for Korean food in Portland is "Nak Won". Compared to that, Toji fell short on a couple fronts, but not by much. First and foremost: the banchan. I've never had the kimchee cucumber or the peppered bean sprouts before, which I throughly enjoyed. The thin strips of white radish were also very refreshing and the perfect palate cleanser. The only banchan I didn't like was the potato, which was just sticky with over-sweet syrup. My main issue with the banchan was that it wasn't served right away and that there weren't more varieties and more of it! I ate the "Dolsot Bulgogi" with Tofu. I wasn't expecting a soup, I thought it was going to be like bibimbap in the clay pot but with noodles instead of rice. Basically the dish was "japchae" but in soup. It was pretty good, as most things hot and fresh are. The broth was like a milder version of sweet and sour soup, but after a while I could start to feel the sugar building up in the back of my throat. It almost felt like I had a sore throat! The dish definitely could have used some more spice and a few more vegetables to add some color and variety. If I come back to Toji for anything, it'll be to just try the "Big Bibimbap". For four dollars more you get basically a bathtub of rice and vegetables. It's enough to stuff 2 people well. As far as bang for your buck goes, it's a Big Bang. I'll stick to Nak Won though. Toji just can't match it's superior banchan, flavors, and portions.

Yuli L.

Yelp
It was a rainy cold kind of day, and we decided to either have pho or Korean BBQ. My Korean friend recommended Toji, so we figured it's worth a try! When we got there, we were pleasantly surprised because it has its own parking lot. We got there around 5pm on a Saturday, and it wasn't busy... yet! We got seated quickly and our server was attentive and made some suggestions. We did all you can eat option C, because my bf craved shrimp. The food was great. There's nothing better than eating food when it is sizzling hot. The burner was clean and cooked the food quite well. It came with a bunch of banchans and lettuce wraps. There's a few sauces you can dip your yummies into, but I ate most without any saucebecause everything was flavorful. By the time we left, the shop was packed and there were many ppl waiting to be seated. I guess it's worth coming a tab earlier to avoid the wait! The only thing made our experience a bit less pleasant was our stomachs. We ate a tons of kimchi, and were super full (almost had to roll myself out of the door). As the result... I visited the restroom a bunch of times that night! Which, by all mean, is not the restaurant/food's fault. Next time I will either go with more people (more than 2), or only ordered 3 meat choices to start with. By the way, we had "briskets", shrimps + scallops", "thinly sliced beef" and bulgogi beef, and liked the first 3 choices the most.

Lily L.

Yelp
They have relative limited choices of meat compared to most KBBQ. Only 5/6 ish for 25 per person. They also have a lot of restrictions/ limitations: you can only change grill once during your entire experience. Only allow to cook on low heat (took about 10 minutes to even cook the thin beef brisket. We turned on our grill to medium- high heat. They staff came and told us we are not allowed to do that. Feel the food is okay, but the rules made the experience very uncomfortable.

Taylor C.

Yelp
Delicious food and sweet servers! The server with the orange hair was knowledgeable and kind!

Amber B.

Yelp
Always have spot on service, the staff have always been very kind and patient. We try to go at least once a month and even though this place is super busy they always ask how we've been! I don't get the 1 star rating for the past few months because every time I come the meat is great, service is great, and there's few times where we've ever had to wait a long time. There's only ever like 3-4 servers so be patient and remember these are people too!

Thuan H.

Yelp
Wasn't busy on a Saturday evening at 6:30PM. We had a reservation as well. Walked in and there was a sign that said "Please wait to be seated." No one was around to seat us. We waited 5 minutes in the lobby and someone finally came around and asked how many were in the party. We told her we had a reservation for 4. She glanced around and told us to wait as she paced back and forth. Another party came in, she walked by and asked how many were in that party. It was 2. She was still walking around this restaurant as if it was huge. She finally seated us. We were given 4 waters with no ice. Basically warm water. We see the party of 2 directly across from us with ice filled water. We finally get to order, and decided to do the option C of AYCE. We started off with the galbi, their Toji sauce galbi and a few others on the menu. Absolutely horrendous. The meat was hard and chewy and was overly salted. The side dishes were terrible. The kimchi tasted like just cabbage, the pickled cucumbers were soft and just tasted like cucumbers, all of the sides were plain tasting. Previous to my other reviews "if the side dishes are not good, 100% the food will not be either." We ordered their "pitcher" of soju. Literally it was just a glass they called a pitcher. The pitcher isn't big and the soju doesn't taste good. We asked for iced water because our water was room temperature. The server says the ice wouldn't come out. She said she'll bring a glass full of ice for us. We asked for more potatoes from the side dishes, she said they ran out and she'll bring some when they have more, which was about 30 minutes later, after asking 3 more times. We had the shrimp and scallops. The scallops were frozen and the shrimps were NOT deveined. We asked for the grill to be swapped out as most KBBQs do it without us asking. Our server told us it was a limit of one grill per meal even though ours was charred (picture attached). Overall the food was 1 star, the service was 2 stars. I would not come again. The food lacked quality and cleanliness, the service was subpar. She did all she could. But there were parts where we sat there wondering if our server, or anyone would even come to our table to help us.

Jesse C.

Yelp
If you're craving kbbq, don't bother wasting your time with this place and make the drive out to the Beaverton area for better kbbq. Came here on a Saturday night. It was not busy, but we waited a bit before anyone acknowledged us and seated us. Then the waitress brought us water, but there was only 2-3 pieces of ice in each glass of water. I like my water ice cold. I had to ask for ice -_- waitress was also slow, and it was difficult to track her down when we wanted refills on things. The actual food was also subpar. Meat wasn't very flavorful and not tender. The sides weren't great, kimchi tasted like straight cabbage. Please also note that a grill change is only allowed once per meal. Never have I even been limited to grill changes at a kbbq restaurant...

Yelp
Being one of a few in the portland area that offers korean BBQ make it your own/all you can eat style, I had to come check it out. My last experience was in Seattle and it was amazing so this had lots to live up to. Unfortunately, we came in and it was fairly slow during a Saturday lunch time which is great for us to be served but bad for the restaurants seemingly lack of reputation. We were helped but not in the friendliest of ways. We ordered and basically never saw the waitress again till we had to get a new plate of meat. Overall, the meats were great and we tried everything from the chicken to pork to beef. Everything was sliced well. Their sauces were delicious too and as always the small condiments that come with every korean meal is always to die for! Complaints we had were service and the tiny cooking area. It was just 2 of us, but even then it could not keep up with us eating and cooking. Basically with the small grill it ate up a lot of the time limit we had for the all you can eat meal. Prices were fair and we did come away full. They are absolutely strict on their no take home policy. Not even the small condiments that they were going to just throw away anyways. We had some left over tofu, potatoes, and lettuce I wanted to take since they were just going to dump it, but got yelled at instead. Unfortunately, because the korean BBQ is so limited in portland, I will either have to wait for my next visit in Seattle or hold my tongue and give this place another check.

Yelp
I've tried other kbbq places and this one is my favorite in Portland so far. Option 2 with a side of rice cake slices is typically my order. I've brought friends here and all loved it. It can get busy on the weekends and might have to wait but be patient, they can get short staffed sometimes. It's worth the wait!

Yelp
I've been going here infrequently over many years and have always enjoyed the food and the service. Most recently I went for their all you can eat bbq for lunch. I've been to a couple AYCE places both in and out of town and this one is pretty good. The quality of the meat is good, it doesn't come out still slightly frozen which is nice. For their lunch price, the choice of meats is limit to 6 different options which is less then other places. They also have a time limit of 1.5 hours, which makes sense, but is a little stressful for someone like myself who is naturally a slow eater. (Last order is also 20 mins before your times over) I couldn't really tell if that time limit started when we ordered or when we actually got the meat which was a little annoying. It's reasonably price was for the meal is though, at $21.99 (at the time of this review). It comes with banchan of course - which are the side dishes - rice, and lettuce to make wraps. The restaurant itself is quite nice and Hawthorne is a cool area to explore before or after your meal. Side note my family always liked their pancakes.

Yelp
A lovely grill spot. It feels pricey but you'll grill and talk and drink for an hour or more. Dining experiences like this are hard to find close-in. We like option b, with bulgogi and sweet short ribs. Remember not to cross contaminate your meats. Leave it on long enough for char. Get a big bottle of Terra and pour for each other.

Yelp
We went, a party of 7, for my birthday. We got there at 5 pm, which was perfect right before the dinner run. Still of you are going, make a reservation just in case. Pros: This is the third Korean BBQ I've been to in PDX. This one by far had the best meat. They waiters were very nice. They didn't try to kick us out after an hour and half, even with people watching. They have their own packing lot and that is a HUGE thing in that part of town. Cons: The waiters really never checked on us, we would have to flag one down for soda, extra plates. The banchan was a bit lacking. The wait between meat plates was a bit long (see above). The 18% for a party over 6, that is fine but itwas actually more around 19.8%. All in all pros win. And I will totally be going again, maybe at lunch time on a week day.

Yelp
Owner wanted to add a 18% tip on our bill for just me and my wife I asked the server why and he said since it's been slow they have to add 18% tip and he explained that this normal gets added on to a table for a party of 6 or more I asked to speak to then manager and she would not talk us so we walked out I would not recommend this place to anyone town Korean bbq is way better and cheaper

Yelp
This place is in a great trendy lil neighborhood with its own parking on Hawthorne. We had the $20 AYCE meet special. That comes with Pork, Chicken, Beef and Pork Belly. I really liked the grills that pull all the smoke under the grill. It is much better than the overhead fans. The service once we were seated was very attentive and our waitress did a great job of making sure our drinks, meat and appetizers were all refilled. That being said there were also things that I felt weren't that great. 1. They didn't notice us when we first came in for at least a good 5-10 min. 2. We had a party of 9 and they originally seated us at 2 separate tables with 2 grills that were significantly spaced apart from from each other and it felt like we weren't together, but they did move us to a longer table to accommodate us on the other side of the restaurant that had a longer table but only 1 grill. :( The are we sat in was "semi private" because in addition to our table of 8-9 were the unfortunate party of 4 that had to sit next to us! 3. The sides were lacking compared to other places I had been, specifically they told us that we couldn't get a refill of the tofu strips because they had run out. 4. They charge you extra for more rice. Which is odd since its all you can eat!! I guess he rice is more valuable than the meat. Overall, it wasn't a bad place and I would still come back and perhaps try some of their other items as I really love Korean Tofu soup and their seafood pancakes, but none of those things came with the $20 deal. So I will check those out next time.

Yelp
After reading reviews I made a reservation for dinner which was totally needed! It's an adorable restaurant with extremely kind staff. We did option C and as soon as we were done with a plate our waitress was right there to take our order for the next round. Definitely the place to go if you're wanting kbbq.

Yelp
The lady was not very friendly. She was an older woman, there was no customer service we weren't checked on during our whole dine in (not busy). There was a total of 5 of us and when the bill came everyone paid with card except one of us and it was 14 cents short, and the lady was so pushy about her 14 cents! We were just trying to get the change in coins to make it easier and she was rushing us for the 14 cents!!! We also were told we couldn't have more meat until all the meat was cooked, I don't know about the rules or anything but it was 5 people! We were down to our last few pieces to cook and still hungry my assumption would've been oh there's a lot of people they wouldn't ask if they need it... So no there was no tip left which there would've been if it was deserved. Moral of the story work on your customer service. There is no need to rush someone for 14 cents. Be nice, smile, maybe a laugh too... it could've been a more enjoyable experience if she was a better hostess.

Yelp
Toji's food is really the only good thing about it. You order your meat of choice and grill it yourself at the table, which is really fun and gives the meat a charred flavor. The chicken and spicy pork were good, but as my friend said, the beef bulgogi tasted similar to a McDs patty. Although the menu offers a variety of meats, it is SUPER expensive for what you get. Over $22 a person and that's with the basic option. Service was nothing special, and neither was the ambience, which was fairly mundane. If you go, go hungry to get as much out of your dollar as possible. And order the steamed egg! That and the kimchi were the only good side dishes to eat along with the meats.

Yelp
This was the first korean bbq spot I'd visited and I liked it but wasn't blown away by it. After visiting other places, I was more impressed with Toji though. Reasonable wait time, large menu with generally fair prices, friendly service, and good food. Some of the options are pricier here than other places, but the standard choices are on par for the price. Overall, this is one of the better options in town.

Yelp
Some friends and I had an AWESOME dinner here one night when I was in town for the weekend. I wasn't expecting to find amazing Korean BBQ in Portland but boy was I wrong. This might be one of the best I've had in the country tbh. All the meat was SO flavorful and delicious and the cooking space was super clean and easy to use. The other thing I was impressed with was the prices!!! We got drinks, appetizers, and ALOT of meat for until $40 a person. Highly recommend to anyone in the area!

Yelp
The meat was delicious, the side dishes were delicious, and one waitress out of the 2 had nice customer service. BUT - there was this one waitress who literally ruined our entire experience of this place. We asked her to change the screen for the grill for us, and she comments with an annoyed tone saying "we only change it once because they wash it manually and don't have some machine to wash it for them because this is a country town." What? How is SE portland considered a country town and we were literally the only people there at noon! I've never had a Korean bbq place tell us that we're only allowed to ask once to change the grill. It was my dad's birthday today, and I wanted to treat him out to a nice lunch, and he lost his appetite because of her. Thanks a bunch.

Yelp
We were too lazy to make the drive out to Beaverton and decided to give this place a try. Now I can't say I dislike this place but I won't say I love it either. Reason being: 1. It is really overpriced and you do not get what you pay for! The meat is no where near the quality of where it should be, no marbling and the pork belly is cut super thin and at 20$ for an add on plate you should receive more than 10 thin slices. 2. Kalbi meat is short rib meat and what came to our table reminded me of thick flank steak that was poorly cut because it was cut extremely thick. 3. The meat sets are poorly balanced. Example for set A you will get thin meat, bulgogi and some Kalbi for 30$ which feeds 1-2 people and then for set D you get everything in set A but with added kalbi and more beef which is supposed to feed 1-4 people at the price of 75$. So as a rational eater we figure we should get set D as opposed to buying 2 set A's for 60$ because we might not get enough and D is pre-calculated to feed more people right? Wrong. Even though we got the more expensive plate less came to our table. We actually had to order more raw meat on the side. 4. This place is so convenient being right smack dab in Hawthorne! I like how clean it is and how the menus are easy to read. 5. They have their own parking lot! 6. Aside from the kbbq here I really like the regular menu items, they are delicious and are fairly priced! I highly suggest getting the seafood pancake, it's crispy and just creamy and savory. 7. The side dishes here are okay, flagging down someone to refill them takes time. I will go here if I want non-bbq.

Yelp
We came for our friend's birthday. Our group of 10 people had a reservation at 8:30. Which we called three days prior and followed up the day before to confirm. When we arrived the server seemed surprised but said our table was ready. After waiting five minutes she clarified that they were combining some tables. After 15 minutes it was clear that they hadn't anticipated our arrival, then they told us our group would sit around a table with a single burner and some random smaller tables attached to the side. They typically have 4-6 people per table/burner. We felt like after thoughts. The table was missing a chair and after a couple minutes without any acknowledgment from the servers, we found our own extra chair on the side of the restaurant, and squished into the table. The server offered potstickers for the inconvenience, which was nice. However we had to ask for it multiple times before it arrived. The food is decent, however it took a long time. The AYCE is limited to 90 minutes which is typical, however they took 20+ minutes before our first round came. My friend let the server know we had 11 o'clock plans because we had to stick to a schedule. The server subsequently rolled her eyes. When our group's single burner went out, we notified the server. She told us not to put water onto the burner. I was very confused because we hadn't done that so why accuse us of tampering with the burner? It stopped working on it's own. The burner went out two more times after the incident. When we ordered the third round of meat, the server brought the meat to our table and said "can you really eat this? You know we charge for uneaten food right?" We said yes (we had obviously read the menu) we are planning to eat all of the food we ordered. We finished all of the meat, and that will be the last time I eat at Toji.
