"Breaking up with someone at Toklas Bakery tells them a few things. Firstly, they no longer qualify for the primetime weekend slot, which is why they’re being broken up with on a Tuesday at 3pm. Secondly, you look extremely sexy eating a tahini cookie. And thirdly, you’ve got excellent taste, so they’re definitely the problem. "A limited collaboration between Toklas Bakery and Ikoyi, this Christmas sandwich aims to be a cut above the rest. Turkey is done away with in favour of roast chicken and it’s topped with candied bacon, a cheddar omelette, scotch bonnet emulsion, and a marmalade made from ‘a rare citrus’ that will presumably be a storyline in Paddington 4." - jake missing
"For: Strecci The downfall of many bakeries in London is the poky seating. But not at Toklas. This Aldwych bakery is spacious and calming, with a display of sweet and savoury pastries—pistachio cream laminated brioche, ham and cheese pain suisse, and classic pain au chocolat. But our favourite thing is the strecci. A Roman-style pizza slice topped with combinations like leek and crème fraîche, or potato and olive tapenade. "Pride-goers are directed to exit the parade via Whitehall Place, so at this point you can either loop back to the main celebrations at Trafalgar Square, or you could continue along Embankment to Toklas Bakery before heading home from Temple station. This Aldwych bakery has sweet and savoury pastries, but one of our favourite things is the strecci.
