"A restaurant with an urban, somewhat laid-back feel, run by chef Andoni Luis Aduriz. The cuisine, a fusion between Latin America and the Basque County, is always centred on locally sourced ingredients." - Michelin Inspector

"San Sebastián’s first successful attempt at a contemporary Latin American eatery comes from a surprising yet highly qualified set of hands: Andoni Luis Aduriz, head chef at Mugaritz. Inspired by his travels to Latin America, Aduriz says the mission of Topa is “to celebrate centuries of interaction between Basques and Latin Americans.” The cultures coexist happily in dishes like tacos filled with ink-tossed squid and cocktails like the Euskojito, which reinvents the mojito using a local Basque white wine. The cool concrete and raw-wood interior is dominated by a gigantic mural by local artist Judas Arrieta that fuses Baque imagery with Latin street style." - Marti Buckley

Nearly excellent. Service was a bit disorganised. Extremely good value for money. Tortillas were undercooked. Better on the second attempt but still under for me - more doughy than soft. Jar of Paloma was delicious at the start of our meal but progressively got worse due to over-dilution. Guacamole was fun and very tasty. Al pastor was awesome. Ceviche was very good - extremely well balanced. Anchovies were the best ever!

The best meal I’ve had so far here in San Sebastian. From the chips in the guacamole, the quesadilla, and of course the meat, everything was top-notch. It’s a bit on the pricey side but the quality and deliciousness of the food more than makes up for it. I will come back for sure.

Michelin guide did us dirty. Super disappointing dinner. Wish we had repeated our lunch in old town instead of getting talked into the tasting menu here. Guacamole to start was okay, but downhill from there. Quesadilla, tacos and burgers heavy and greasy. We expected upscale Mexican with a basque twist - this missed the mark.

I had an absolutely amazing dining experience at Topa Skulderia! From start to finish, the meal was a culinary delight. The shrimp tacos were a perfect starter—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The Topa cheese Iberian ham and the mushroom variation were also fantastic additions to the menu, offering rich, savory bites. But the true standout was the Arepa with hake, a limited edition item that was simply divine. The sauce, texture, and presentation (served on a Tiki Head style plate!) were all top-notch, easily a 10 out of 10. To top it off, the Lumagorri chicken was an absolute treat. It literally melted in my mouth, with its incredible sauce and tender texture making every bite memorable. You should deffo try cocktails, too. Overall, Topa Skulderia delivered a perfect dining experience that I can't wait to repeat. Highly recommend!

We went at opening on a Friday night as we did not have a reservation - and it gets busy very fast!! The food was excellent and I’d say some of the best modern Mexican we’ve ever had. It’s all share food so get as many different options as you can eat. The beef tacos are a must, chicken also delicious.

Food was delicious. Our fav was the basque taco and the guacamole was top. we didn’t enjoy the michelada drink with soya sauce too much. Rest of the drinks were bomb

Google

A fun place to eat mexican food. I had better tacos at a random lunch place in NYC, but the presentation and special dishes here makes it worth a visit

Yelp
What a wonderful find! MUST VISIT ON YOUR TRIP!! We were wandering by when we looked through the window and saw how modern this place looked. We glanced at the menu and decided to give it a try. They have a wide variety of food. We got several dishes to share. Beginning with table guacamole, they give you the components to mix for yourself with a mortar and pestle. I hate onions and cilantro, so I was able to get my share before my friends mixed them in! Served with crispy chips, it was a nice change from regular pintxos in the area. Next was the ceviche, tuna and sweet potato (with a lot of onions), onions aside the tuna was delicious with a well balanced spice of peppers that were included in the dish. Next up was the Iberian ham cheese quesadillas: perfection! The simplicity of the dish was what made it taste so good. Exactly what it sounds like, but the cheese was delicious. But the BEST part of the meal was the al Pastor tacos! They were better than some of the tacos I had in Mexico City! Perfectly seasoned meat, with just the right amount of guacamole. MUST HAVE!!! Lastly, the desserts! The churro dessert was AMAZING! And the rice pudding was also delicious, light and flavorful! We were all amazed by this meal. Everything was delicious. The most consistent meal we have had by far during our stay in San Sebastián.

Yelp
What a treat! This place is barely visible on the street, but it's worth finding the signless door. The wood paneled walls draw you into a bustling restaurant. I came for lunch on a Monday. The menu is an inventive blend of Peruvian, Mexican, and Spanish. They have menus in English if you ask for it. The atmosphere is casual, but we ended up spending $50 for a two person lunch. The service is friendly. They bring plates out in courses, so it's easy to have a relaxed drawn out meal here. You don't feel rushed. The abodaba tacos were the highlight. The slightly crispy texture of the meat was heaven. The Sweet Potato Causa was a table favorite too!

Yelp
This was a disappointing experience. The food was certainly good and well prepared so I can't complain about that. The topa cheese and mushroom quesadillas were brilliant, the Patatas Topa was rock solid with a unique herby/minty aioli. We started with the ceviche which was not to my taste and a bit bland but I can't gripe too much, there are many styles of ceviche. But the restaurant suffers from two key problems. First, it seems to find itself just a bit too clever...it's gimmicky. After cutesy delivery vessels like a pirate head and a jai alai basket, I asked "what's next, will they sing happy birthday to some guest?" They did. Most importantly, the staff was terribly disinterested. They showed no interest in describing the food, answering basic questions, or getting us a check which took a half hour (no exaggeration). Other tables seemed to have trouble getting service also. It was a s--- show. But it was the disinterest by the staff that was a much bigger problem than the lack of competence. So the front of the house is wasting a good team in the kitchen. We only visited once, so maybe it was an off-night, but I can't find a reason in this amazing food city to try it again.

Yelp
Highly recommended is an understatement. This food is fantastic, creative modern Spanish cuisine. We will never forget the pork belly tacos. Tapas style food but filling and really affordable. Our only regret is that we didn't have stomach space enough to consume everything on the menu. Service was SO good she even gave us an inside track of every great place to eat in the city.

Yelp
The tacos al pastor were possibly the best we've ever had. And that's saying something. The handmade corn and millet tortillas were amazing. The pork, with the basque spices and fat, was delicious. Don't know what was in the avocado crema, but yum. Try the Saizar cider. The cork is unusual and extraordinarily clever. Don't be fooled if you're standing in front of the restaurant and a plant is blocking the door. Look about 15 feet to the left and go through THAT door. We'll go back later this week to eat our way through the rest of the menu. In a town filled with amazing options, that's saying something.

Yelp
This is T. G. I. Viernes. Ceviche served in a head. An actual clay head. A paper set of directions to make your own guacamole. Extra classy. Over garlicky, over spiced food to cover low quality ingredients. One dish didn't mention garlic or onions and was literally covered in them. Huge mistake. Look anywhere else.

Yelp
ZOMG!!!! So good! Get the Al Pastor tacos, best I've ever had... Do it now, or have regrets.

Kate T.

Yelp
By far the best meal I have had since I've been in San Sebastián. The service is great. We got the guacamole (which you mix yourself) and the ceviche for appetizers. Both were amazing, and you could tell everything was extremely fresh. The Al Pastor tacos are incredible. The price is definitely worth it. You get two tacos for what you order and you won't be hungry after. Absolutely go here!!

Lauren W.

Yelp
Didn't have a single thing here that wasn't delicious. Loved the tacos and the guacamole (that you mix yourself with Ikea-style instructions). The ceviche was also excellent. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Really enjoyed it! UPDATE: we went back for a second time on our trip because it was so good. If we're ever back we'll go again!

Yelp
Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, and when I was washing my hands, the water turned off at the exact same time that I was done rinsing them.

Yelp
Amazing food, great atmosphere and friendly and helpful staff! Perfect Valentine's evening!

Yelp
AMAZING!! Really, really good Mexican food with a nice twist! We ordered the guacamole, which we made ourselves with good instructions from a manual;) quesadillas, tacos, humanita (only served in July), were all delicious! The drinks as well were big and good :) it's a cosy place for both lunch and dinner, I highly recommend it! Toilets also nice, there's mouth wash there ;) it's definitely worth a try :D
