We visited the restaurant for a birthday celebration, just my wife and I. The evening started well: the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was decent. I ordered the ribeye steak, while my wife went with the lamb.
Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. From the very first bite, my steak had an unusual taste. In hindsight, I should have stopped eating immediately, but I gave it a couple more bites before deciding not to continue. Less than two hours after getting home, I began experiencing intense stomach pain that lasted through the night and into the following evening. I was in and out of the bathroom constantly, and my wife concluded that I likely had food poisoning.
She called the restaurant the next day and spoke with the manager. The manager was polite and expressed sympathy, but she also mentioned that food poisoning typically takes 10 to 12 hours to manifest, something that didn’t align with my experience. She then offered to invite us back for another visit, which, while well-intentioned, seemed out of touch given the circumstances. After an episode like that, the last thing I’d want is to return.
My wife asked her to at least take a closer look at the kitchen and review the quality of the ingredients being used. Had the pain lasted any longer, I would’ve gone to the ER and reported the incident to the local health department.
Thankfully, some OTC medication helped, and I recovered. But this was a deeply unpleasant experience that overshadowed what was supposed to be a special evening.
