The 22 Best Sandwiches In LA - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"This seven-by-ten-foot trailer has been around since the ’90s and continues to make some of the best tortas you’ll find in Los Angeles. The South Central operation specializes in Mexico City-style sandwiches with fillings like breaded steak, pork leg, and chorizo. Torta Movil has changed things up over the years though, and offers vegan options, too, like one with soyrizo, potatoes, and mushrooms on a soft telera roll. If you want a meatier torta, go for the Porky—it's a trifecta of slow-cooked pork, chorizo, and the often misunderstood (but delicious) head cheese. All of these savory, spicy, and fatty flavors play nicely with your sandwich’s raft of toppings: mayo, jalapenos, avocado, lettuce, queso fresco, and frijoles." - brant cox, sylvio martins, cathy park

The 10 Best Torta Restaurants In LA

"This roughly 7-foot by 10-foot operation has been around since the ’90s and makes some of the best Mexico City-style tortas in LA. The South Central truck presses its tortas on the grill until the telera rolls get extra crispy, and they stick to classic fillings such as milanesa, pork leg, and sliced hot dogs. If you’re going big on meats, the Porky torta is our favorite with its trifecta of slow-cooked pork, spicy chorizo, and carnitas, plus all the usual accompaniments like avocado, mayo, lettuce, and frijoles. They also offer meat-free options too, like the Veggie with a blend of mushroom, onions, and bell peppers that get a nice sear on the plancha. " - sylvio martins

Torta Movil Review - South Los Angeles - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"This roughly 7’x10’ operation has been around since the ’90s and continues to make some of the best tortas you’ll find in Los Angeles. The South Central truck specializes in Mexico City-style sandwiches with classic fillings like breaded steak, pork leg, ham, and chorizo. However, Torta Movil has changed things up over the years and now offers vegan options too, like the Soyri-Papa, which comes with soyrizo, soft-cooked potatoes, mushrooms, and caramelized onions on a soft telera roll. If you’re interested in a meatier sandwich, go for the Porky torta that comes with a trifecta of slow-cooked pork, spicy chorizo, and the often misunderstood (but seriously delicious) head cheese. All of these savory, spicy, and fatty flavors pair great with the sandwich’s mayo, jalapenos, avocado, lettuce, queso fresco, and frijoles. Food Rundown Soyri-Papa Torta This plant-based sandwich is heavy, oily, and absolutely what we want after a night of questionable decisions. The soyrizo releases all of its smoky paprika flavor that gets soaked up by slices of starchy potato. The cooked mushrooms and caramelized onions bring extra sweetness and savoriness to the mix before it all gets piled into a fluffy, semi-toasted telera roll. Porky Torta This torta is like pork’s “Greatest Hits” album. The marinated pulled pork is very juicy and goes well with the fatty head cheese and spicy chorizo sausage. It’s definitely rich and maybe not something we want every day, but it gets a little kick of freshness from its lettuce, tomato, and avocado. You know, for balance. Cubana Torta Texture is king in the Cubana Torta: you get crunch for the breaded steak, chewiness from the sliced ham, spicy crumbles from the chorizo, and some meaty tenderness from the shredded pork leg. And in case you thought that’s every adjective we can possibly think of, the gelatinous head cheese melds all the meats together before it all gets topped with its lettuce, tomato, and avocado." - Sylvio Martins

YUM!!! I LOVE that it has a slice of everything and you can customize your order. I got the torta chilanga and its THE BEST. We were able to get close parking because we came at the first hour. I think parking may be difficult to find during their busy hours. 10/10 recommend!!

Google
Delicious Totas . Salsa is spicy good Definitely tge best tortas in town .

Google
Can call ahead for pickup. They make one of the best tortas I’ve had with great meats and tasty salsa to go with. Price is also great for what you get.

Ricardo Esparza

Google
Best tortas in town! You can’t go wrong with the chilanga, the pineapple makes it 10 times better. The steak torta was fire, really liked how everything was well portioned. !!!Highly recommend !!! 🔥🔥🔥

Google
Best Torta place ever 🙌🏻🙌🏻 our family has been enjoying the entire menu from the last 28+ years and Tortas are the bomb 💣 from a typical and traditional ham and cheese to succulent and delicious creations like Sonidera, Cubana, Azteca, Hawaiiana. A big menu available to delight your senses! Stop by and have one or two, make your tummy happy 😁

Google
This place is really good for tortas, any kind. I have tried milanesa and cubana. Really good. They take phone orders for just pick up. A little down side they only accept cash. But other than that. Really good.

Isidoro Barranco

Google
Best tortas ever. I order the steak and my girl got the milanesa. They where both great. The steak was greasy but it was delicious. The milanesa was the ungreasy version of the steak. The place is tiny and it does attract bums but not a deal breaker. I learn that it's best to order in advance and take your food to go.

Google
Real mexican tortas. Order before you come always busy

Yelp
I had the sonidora torta and it was fire!!! The salsa was the right amount of spiciness for the torta. Order before if you don't mind waiting 30-40 min for a torta this place gets packed. Parking sucks so pre order. I will be back! It's in the back of the liquor store parking lot.
google avatar

Jasmine A.

Yelp
My favorite spot when in the mood for a authentic torta! I've placed an order over the phone before & picked up and I've eaten there as well! There is always usually a wait which is okay with me because they're made by order! There's a liquor store around the corner where you can also grab drinks and snacks while you wait. It has shaded area to sit Down and eat! The tortas are big and filling! My go to is always the sonidera con todo !!

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem in south LA . Tortas here are so good! Order ahead or be ready to wait at least 30 minutes. This place is takeout only . Parking is available but limited . Ambiance here is mostly Spanish speaking.
google avatar

Megi C.

Yelp
We have been coming here for over 25 years and sadly this is the first time we have had a bad experience. The meat quality was poor with this order. Did not feel fresh and super hard to chew like carrboard. There was also a type of metal bristle from what could've been a sponge or brush. We just hope they're more careful for others.

Sandra G.

Yelp
Literally the best tortas ever. House salsa is so good and the workers also kind and informative! 10/10 . Wish they were open all week!!

Yelp
My boy picked up some tortas for the squad and the team at Torta Movil came through once again. The sauce was out of this world. - @eatingwithricardo

Yelp
Drove 1 hour round trip to get 5 tortas for my family and when i get home none of the tortas they gave me were they right ones. I call to let them know they messed up my order and they say i can take back the wrong ones and pick up the ones i ordered. I told them im 30mins away and ask if they could send them to me but they said no. I told them I would pick them up and i ask if they were gonna make new ones because those were gonna be cold by the time i get home and they said they were not gonna make me new ones. Horrible service. Didnt even try to do anything to fix their mistake.

Yelp
At first glance, it's a nice, small, unique business, but the longer you wait for your order, you start to question: is it worth waiting for? I enjoyed the homage to Mexico, but nothing can beat the original motherland's street vendors. Unfortunately, this place does not meet its full potential. Foodwise, it's missing that Mexican savory taste. Take my note as a sign of precaution: CASH ONLY! The people here are friendly and accommodating to your order. The downside is that the tortas are about 5-6 inches long and are pretty much the average size of a torta you can make at home. If you want to wait 30-40 minutes for your food while watching them give phone orders out before yours, then be my guest. Parking is not accessible, you're better off parking a block over, and even then, it's limited.

Yelp
I had been eating this amazing tortas for years and for me they are the best in Los Angeles. I live in Pico Rivera but when I want to eat tortas, I drive all the way to LA, I like the Cubana and chilanga my favoritas

Oscar G.

Yelp
Just left this place as my friend and I were craving a torta since the year started. We place our order for 2 tortas cubanas and they tell us that the wait time would be 30-40mins. I kid you not, we waited for 90 mins. At least 30 people got their order before we did. As we kept asking several times if our order was ready, their response was "10 more minutes". I understand that it's a small business and they have many clients but 2 tortas should not take 90mins to make. I won't be coming here anymore. Very unacceptable!

Yelp
Don't be fooled by the humble setup - this place is a hidden gem pumping out the best tortas you'll have. Awesome food, run by cool people, who enjoy what they do and serve up smiles. If it takes a few minutes for them to make your food, just know it's worth the wait.
google avatar

Kriztel M.

Yelp
Delicious! Definitely reminded me of tortas in DF The service was great, they have a sitting area outside, it's cash only.
google avatar

Lily C.

Yelp
This is the BEST place to go for a Mexican torta. I always order la torta Cubana and it's a torta for 2. I always share with my sister because I can never finish it on my own but it's so delicious and the salsa they give you pumps up a good spicy ness to every bite. I highly recommended eating from here. I highly recommend doing phone call orders ahead of time. It's usually 35-40 min wait.

Yelp
"Never judge a book by its cover", never! This place came as a recommendation from a friend and I was very skeptical and wary of this place bc the size of the venue. I mean it's no bigger than 10ft x 6ft. In my mind, how good can it really be!? I have driven or walked by it nearly 100 times in the last 4 months and I've never seen any guests eating and taking food Togo. Today I stopped by for a bite, and hand to god it's by far the best torta, sandwich, sub, "whatever you want to call it" in Los Angeles! Just south of Adams at on San Pedro st is this diamond in the rough venue that sells a gigantic torta ( half the size of my iPad) filled with avocado, onion, peppers, and your choice of meat, I got steak. Every bite tastes like the first, melting in your mouth. My tastebuds were going crazy telling my brain to keep eating. I couldn't believe how delicious this sandwich was and for only $5.00. I arrived at 430pm and by the time I got my food at 5pm, I saw nearly 200 Togo bags leave the counter. I was blown away. This is definitely a must stop by and I encourage every fellow yelper or anyone looking for a amazing meal where your dollar is stretched to go and get a torta. Thank you for reading!

Yelp
Yummy tortas, i tried the Sonidera and Asada torta and like the asada much better, but both good. I would definitely eat here again.
google avatar

Brenda Z.

Yelp
Man oh man I think I found my go to torta place! I came here on a Friday afternoon and there was no line and very little wait time! The staff was also very friendly and helpful. I tried the milanesa torta and immediately fell in love! The torta was so soft and with the right amount of crisp, the milanesa also so flavorful and the jalapenos in it added such a nice spice to it! Overall I would come again to support this family Latinx owned business. In regards to logistics it is located in small parking lot and has very limited parking space, however there is street parking around!
google avatar

Christopher V.

Yelp
Tortas are bomb and as advertised. Similar to DF torta style. Of course not the same because of the ingredients, but it is the closest to the actual DF torta. Only downside is the wait time, but at least they let you know it will take fairly long. Torta place also gives CDMX vibe with the small trailer.
google avatar

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Incredible, well balanced torta with a very tasty salsa! They also have great service despite being very busy (as they should be, since their food is incredible!). They are cash or Zelle only. Can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Elisa P.

Yelp
I've seen this truck here since they started at this location but today was the day I decided to try them. Great choice, we went excepting to wait an hour as my friend had been there before but our wait was only 15 minutes. This was Sunday at about 3pm. I decided to go with their biggest torta to see what it was all about and it didn't disappoint at all. This thing was massive and a well balance of onions with mayo and lettuce. I got the The Cubana - pulled pork leg, sliced beef, ham, head cheese, chorizo and cheese. All tortas come with mayo, lettuce, onions, avocado, cheese and jalapeños (I skipped those). The only down side is that they don't take credit cards, anything would be good - Venmo, PayPal/square, anything would be better than nothing for those of use that don't carry cash.
google avatar

T N.

Yelp
Talk about a diamond in the rough... I came with some friends so I had the chance to try most of the menu. Everything was good, I was surprised. It was my first time eating these particular meats so I have nothing to compare it with. However, I can say the bread, meat and cheese perfectly complements each other.

Diana L.

Yelp
You can never go wrong with these tortas! By far the best ones I've ever tried, I highly recommend la torta cubana!
google avatar

Rosie A.

Yelp
I'm giving this place 4 stars only because the wait is beyond belief, even when the order is called in. However, that being said the taste warrants a 5+ star. Ingredients are fresh and the price for what you are getting is ridiculous. I have been going to this place since the late 90's and while the location is not very appealing nor comfortable as it is food truck service, I will not mind those petty things when compared to what I'm receiving for my $$. There is a range of flavors to be had as far as red meat is concerned. If opting for white meats like myself there is only one selection but rest assured you will not be leaving this place without giving it a thumbs up. They can also concoct a vegetarian option as well and if you dislike an ingredient, the torta ladies can easily accommodate to your taste buds if you request a special order.
google avatar

Andrea L.

Yelp
Honestly , the tortas are definitely a must have , they have the best salsa that goes along perfect! Only suggestion i have , is that they need a new system or something , they give you a designated time and they keep saying "20 more minutes" after i had already waited an 1 1/2 prior. Such a hassle just to get my food . Like i said, food is soooo amazing but the customer service is not great AT ALL.
google avatar

Dennis M.

Yelp
Bomb Torta will never let you down for sure always on point. Milanesa or cubana fire fire
google avatar

Ashley A.

Yelp
I went with a few friends and I got the española torta which was very good! The staff was nice and it didn't take long to get our orders. They do only accept cash from when i went so that's something to keep in mind.

Larry R.

Yelp
Been coming here for a year. The food is amazing and always made to order. Wait time during the weekend is approximately an hour long which is good to know before ordering. (This is how you know the food is good). I just wish they brought their aguas fresca back tho :(. Overall, best torta place in the area!
google avatar

Ana C.

Yelp
Looooove their tortas. Have to call I. Advance but it soooo worth it! Highly recommend.
google avatar

Leo H.

Yelp
After months of seeing them Instagram, I finally gave in and tried them out. I got the Cubana and it was delicious!! The chipotle salsa adds extra flavor to it so make sure to ask for extra. I'm definitely going to back again soon.

Elizbeth F.

Yelp
The best tortas in LA . My favorite is the chilanga so delicious. Las mejores muy deliciosas
google avatar

Jason O.

Yelp
Torta móvil is an instant classic! Been going here for years, and the quality of service is amazing. It's family owned, latino owned, and is active on social media ! I always get the Torta de milanesa and it always hits the spot! Definitely worth the time! Give them a shot and you won't be disappointed, truly DF inspired tortas.
google avatar

Damaris M.

Yelp
Order ahead by calling. It is soo worth it! Best torras in town. They are huge and delicious! The cubano one is my favorite!
google avatar

Hector D.

Yelp
Call ahead of time to place your order, it saves a fuck load of time. Bomb food. Only downside is there really isnt a place to eat your food there but I just eat in the bed of my truck so not too big an issue.

Ernesto V.

Yelp
Like another reviewer said. "Never judge a book by it's cover". Went there today with a coworker. Really, really good tortas. We were lucky enough that there wasn't that many people there. However plenty of people showing up picking up orders to go. Tasty, filling and most definitely will come back. Staff was very friendly and welcoming and informative Great place. Just make sure that it is located in downtown LA on 27 and San Pedro. Dont go to Torrance

wendy a.

Yelp
Very very Slow you have to stand in their face for them to start if not they'll keep making other ppls orders that they keep chatting with

Alo L.

Yelp
IT IS WORTH THE WAIT. Food is fresh and delicious!! Great service. The best tortas in LA!
google avatar

Angie R.

Yelp
Delicious! My dad put me on this truck and now me and the hubby come here all the time. Been coming here for over 10 years. Check it out, you won't regret it! But call at least one hour ahead otherwise you'll be waiting and hungry
google avatar

Xochitl G.

Yelp
YAS! The only torta spot in LA that matters. I've been coming here for more than 15+ thanks to my uncle. All their tortas are amazing and their Chile they serve on the side is delicious - the right amount of spicy. You can order ahead of time via phone but I wouldn't suggest it. They've had too many people order and not show up so now they want til you're actually there to make them. Eh not a big deal. Their consistency has been the same all these years.
google avatar

Jair D.

Yelp
Great food and prices. But if you're thinking about ordering on a weekend after 10:00 AM, be prepared to wait cause it gets busy.

Ismael B.

Yelp

google avatar

Angelica D.

Yelp
If I remember correctly this is by a liquor store, its parked in the parking lot belonging to said store and you can just pop down anywhere in enjoy your torta! Lines can get long, even during the day. Even then employees are still nice and efficient, I've never had to wait too long for my food. I usually go for the Cubana, my husband and I share it and grab chips and soda from the liquor store. We love this place! Just wish it was closer to us or there was less traffic so we could get there without having to wait forever to get out of the freeway.

Adriana B.

Yelp
Don't underestimate this cute little orange truck. Best tortas I've ever had in LA. My favorite are the Cubana and Chilanga. They are pretty big, you get a lot for the price. I can't event finish them sometimes. They are totally worth the wait, but I suggest calling before hand to minimize the wait since it can sometimes be up to an hour.

Robert E.

Yelp
I haven't been able to find a comparable Torta since trying this place. It's unfortunate they only have one location but quality over quantity right? Shoutout to this small-family owned business. Chilanga is my absolute favorite. The pineapple gives it that KICK.

Nayeli T.

Yelp
Food is amazing. However before they used to have one person charge and another person give us the food. Today I was disappointed when I saw the worker take my money (cash) and with the same gloves, he cut my tortas. There needs to be a system where this does not happen because it's just not sanitary. Thanks
google avatar

Gloria H.

Yelp
The tortas at this place are BOMB!! But if your planning on ordering be prepared to wait a very loooooong time. I would suggest calling your order ahead of time. Other than the wait time the food here is awesome and I really recommend it .
google avatar

Hannah Y.

Yelp
Seriously one of my new favorite places! Their tortas are awesome and delicious and really big!!! I've tried their milanesa, azteca and cubano. I think they're all delicious but the azteca and milanesa are my current favorites. It is a food truck so parking can be hard and they don't sell drinks but they are parked next to a liquor store so that's where we got some drinks. Ordered ahead and picked up and everything was ready when I got there so didn't have to wait.
google avatar

David Z.

Yelp
Best torta cubana ever....must try! They have many variety to try. I suggest calling ahead of time as they di get busy and wait time can be awhile.
google avatar

Vic C.

Yelp
Best torta in l.a hands down.. my wife introduced me to this place and havent been the same since....

Reyna R.

Yelp
I know this place since 1999. The best of DF tortas. The lonnnng wait to get your food is always worth it. I have never tried anywhere else the same flavor of this place. My kids loves the sonideras and the chilangas. Mine Sonideras have always been the best :)
