Hip Cajun-Creole spot with a cozy, New Orleans–influenced dining room and optional fixed-price menus.
"The Deal: $20/$35 Lunch, $50/$65 Dinner (Sunday-Friday) While many restaurants use this week as an opportunity to offer a limited lineup full of random stuff that isn’t even on their regular menu, Toulouse Petit stands out. This Cajun-Creole restaurant in Queen Anne offers multiple dessert options, more than just one or two little appetizer choices, and in some cases, five mains to choose from—making it the most extensive SRW menu we've seen. It's all worth it, if only for their barbecue shrimp and grits or fluffy beignets." - kayla sager riley, aimee rizzo
"The New Orleans-style creole food at Toulouse Petit is really great—we especially like the BBQ shrimp with grits and seafood gumbo, and most importantly, the beignets with coffee glaze. They’re denser than traditional beignets, and we could drink the glaze instead of our morning latte. Plus, the antique-ish and dark dining room is covered in candles that look like they’re floating, so it works for big celebrations like a birthday, anniversary, or closing on a Seattle home after only sacrificing six things from your wishlist." - aimee rizzo
"This Cajun-Creole restaurant in Uptown feels like something between a shrine in a mountain cave and an ‘80s Miami drug lord’s den. The menu, inspired by the cuisine of New Orleans, is expansive, with oysters on the half shell, charcuterie and cheese plates, pasta and gnochi, steaks, and four preparations of half chickens. There’s also classic Southern dishes like gumbo and jambalaya. The wine, spirits, beer, and cocktail menus are just as long." - Jade Yamazaki Stewart, Harry Cheadle
"Open until 12am If you work at a job where your shift ends super late, like as a broadcast journalist, chef, or Spiderman, it can be hard to find anything to eat other than something from the freezer section at a QFC. Toulouse Petit in Queen Anne is there for you when you actually want a full meal, and is open until midnight every day. The food here is New Orleans-style, so you’ll see delicious things like beignets with coffee glaze, shrimp and grits, and gumbo. Just remember to change out of your Spiderman outfit first unless you want to spend your entire dinner signing autographs." - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley
