"For Chantelle Nicholson, chef-owner of Tredwells in Piccadilly and All’s Well in Hackney, it made clear sense for Dishpatch to handle the more arduous logistical aspects of her meal kit offering." - George Reynolds

"The target market for this restaurant from chefs Chantelle Nicholson is budding gourmets — its “Culinary Kids” menu seeks to introduce new flavours and textures. At much better value than an average tasting menu, for £17, children receive six courses of dishes such as mozzarella with mild chorizo; hake, salsa verde, and purple sprouting broccoli; and salted caramel soft serve with chocolate sauce, plus a recipe to take and make at home. The cheaper “Junior Menu” is aimed at even younger palates, with decent but risibly named offerings such as ‘legendary lamb croquettes’ and ‘awesome omelette,’ served with ‘perky peas’ and ‘bravo broccoli.’" - MiMi Aye

Google
The Food Standards Agency rated Tredwells 4 out of 5 in January 2019, so overall fine. We arrived for a date night on Friday evening and were seated in a comfortable booth. The restaurant offers a nice amount of intimacy as tables are spaced out well and the level of music was thankfully low enough to make having a conversation easy. We went for two set menus, muscles, fish and ice cream and carrots, steak and doughnut .. obviously those are the simplified names ! The presentation and taste were lovely and the steak especially good, compared to my usual steak restaurants. Service was very attentive too. Overall a faultless dinner

Google
Visited Tredwells today and was thoroughly impressed by the food and service. I had the 5 course, plant based tasting menu which was exquisite! Really creative dishes and the perfect portion sizes. The service was excellent and just the right level of attentiveness. Couldn't fault any part of the evening. Highly recommend a visit.

Google
Amazing service and great ambience. Solid starter and main offerings (the duck and hanger steak were both tasty and tender: see pictures), but the highlight for me was dessert: the chouxnut (pictured) and the caramel ice-cream dish were mind-blowing! Probably slightly too expensive for the mains, which is the only reason it's not a 5 from me.

Google
Amazing experience from the first step in. Food was delicious delicious and service extremely friendly, helpful and efficient. Prices a little bit on the high end but all so worth it. Venison and scallops were definitely stars of the day for me however all the sides we've tried weren't any way worst. If you like sour taste, make sure you try gin and tonic cheesecake for your desert. I'm told that caramel afogato is also delicious. Definitely recommend the experience.

The 3 course set menu and cocktail was great value for £29! Food was well presented and staff were very attentive. The soft serve salted caramel with honeycomb is a must!

Google
What a great experience. Lovely food with a no rush friendly attentive service. I must say the service we received in Tredwells was the best I have received in the UK, especially the young Italian waiter who was very knowledgable and friendly and even went with my kids to help them "make" their own dessert. Fantastic. We had quite a few items off the A La Carte Menu as you can see in the photos and they were lovely.

Google
I do not normally give five star ratings for a restaurant but tredwells deserves it. Everything here was perfect all the way from the starters to the dessert. Not much to comment come and see it for yourself for the michelin green guide restaurant that makes sustainable food. Everything was perfect. Extremely recommended and i would love to go back here again anytime soon.

Google
Amazing service. Staff is excellent. Ambiance is lovely - fine dining meets cozy meets romantic. Food was medium - nothing mind blowing. Only negative was we were seated 45 minutes after our reservation. Recommendations: Whiskey sour Port Halibut with truffles Sourdough Polenta fries Mac n cheese

Yelp
Spectacular food and experience! The radish salad and slow cooked hen's egg in hollandaise mousse in themselves are worth the visit. The design of the restaurant is bright, classic & comfortable. The staff were wonderful and engaging with my kids and made us feel welcome. Kids ate like champs and really enjoyed their meal. Staff regularly checked with them to make sure they were enjoying our meal. I very much appreciate it when my kids are recognized and their opinions matter. At ages 4 and 2 they have a lot of them and made sure to let our server know they loved the buttermilk chicken and my 2 year old ordered extra peas and polished off every last one. We don't drink alcohol at all so I'm always interested in what the bar can put together that is unique. The elderberry and celery soda I had was so awesome I ordered a second. Dessert was just as good if not better than the starters, the buttermilk panna cotta was one of the best preparations I have had! I would stop back in just to have that. Overall great experience. I would recommend without hesitation. Great place to take kids and have a family meal together, we will definitely be back!

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday afternoon and ordered the sea trout (Although when this came out, it appeared to be salmon) and the truffled Mac and cheese. The fish was tasty and the truffled Mac and cheese was delicious and was a much more filling portion than I had expected, to my surprise. I ended up not being able to finish it. Our waitress was very friendly and the ambiance was pleasant. We came around 3pm and our food came out relatively fast. Overall, a good dining experience!

Yelp
I'm not one to usually write reviews, but dinner at Tredwells was extremely disappointing. My family of 6 came here for dinner, and the food was decent. We each ordered the 3 course tasting menu, but we all walked away that night with food poisoning!! Each member of my family and I spent the entire night throwing up! It's ridiculous that any restaurant (and especially this relatively expensive restaurant for that matter) could endanger its customers lives because they didn't have the health controls in place to ensure the food was safe to eat. This place needs to be inspected so that more customers don't go through what we went through

Yelp
Not a big fan of Tredwells. Really wanted to fall in love with this restaurant. I felt there was only one dish that was a standout; grilled Jerusalem artichoke with lentils and lemon cream, tho there was a very grainy texture to the dish. Pumpkin with walnut lacked texture. The miso & muscovado soft serve with honey comb was decent. Grilled pineapple with meringue was overly sweet. Grill broccoli was lacking in acidity. I barely finished 1/4 of it. While the restaurant was open to accommodations, I felt a lot was not communicated. I was under the assumption that substitutes were made cause certain items cannot be accommodated for my dietary needs. Table side romance was also lacking when some of the dishes arrived. There were many additional fees to my surprised when the bill was bought to my table without all the dishes arriving and without me asking for the bill. I was thoroughly disappointed at the service and the quality of the food. I was really hoping this would be the highlight of my trip to London, it was definitely a let down.

Yelp
With one of my favourite Yelp friends Rachel Z in town, I was looking for some great dining out but the period between Christmas and New Year is always a bit tricky as many top restaurants give their staff done time off at this time of year So, I was happy to find that Tredwell's was open. 2 Michelin starred Marcus Wareing has put his name to it. It has garnered awards including the AA restaurant of the year and the menu looked good. However, fellow Yelpers had given it a very ordinary 3 stars, so who would be proven right The ambiance of the dining room was traditional - dark panelled. Service was friendly but haphazard - I've of our main courses was wrong and we had to wait 10 minutes for that dish to arrive after the others as a result. The waiter dealing with our card payment also put the entire bill onto one card despite us telling him the exact split amount to put on the card The food varied between meh and nice. Most disappointing was 'buttermilk fried chicken'. I know and love buttermilk fried chicken and if it arrives with no crunchy coating, that's not buttermilk fried chicken. The best dish was my fall off the bone short rib of beef but another annoying thing is when restaurants serve no sides with main courses and the sides are small for £4 Sorry, Rachel Z but I should have listened more to my fellow Yelpers. A disappointing 3 stars

Yelp
Exemplary service, beautiful live piano playing and simple ingredients superbly prepared are among the highlights that Tredwell's has to offer. The menu is also well structured with useful allergen information at hand. The Chantenay carrot starter is more than a pleasant surprise, making a common vegetable taste exquisite and addictive whilst perfectly combined with the tasty bites of sourdough bread (but the cheese sprinkled on top seems an unnecessary addition). The lamb dish was elegant which is not something I've ever associated with lamb and yet the pieces were indeed of attractive equal and satisfying portions and tender and juicy, whilst the accompanying smoked aubergine followed along the same lines of simplicity delivering sophistication and flavour beyond expectation. The  chocolate brownie looked a bit of a mess but was thoroughly sweet and satisfying with a warm melt-in-the mouth quality. All-in-all Tredwell's is just shy of extraordinary with features that could do with a finishing touch such as the plain uniform of the staff, the not quite comfortable seating, the basic presentation of the dishes and a general all-round dullness to all aspects of the dining experience, meaning it doesn't quite produce an impressive impact. A further illustration of this is that food should not give the outcome of being 'suprisingly' good; it is a bit of an add achievement. Having said that, one cannot doubt that ultimately, good it was.

Yelp
Food was excellent, but poor service ruined the night. Started off well, but after the meals were delivered, no one ever checked back, never given the opportunity to order wine for dinner, and water never refilled. Ruined the evening, won't be back.

Wendi R.

Yelp
Great menu and selection. Food is very well prepared and very good ambiance. Would recommend for dinner and/or drinks at the bar.

Yelp
The decor and atmosphere in here is absolutely spot on. I had a wonderful crab and apple starter - one of the best staters I've ever had. Main was disappointingly / over seasoned. It was a roast beef salad but I reality it was beef carpaccio. Friends monkfish was ok but a little bland.

Yelp
I came here using a Bookatable deal to make the already more affordable Marcus Wareing spot even more so. Service: Impeccable. We felt really taken care of from start to finish - towards the end we were in a bit of a hurry to get out and make our matinee show and the staff was understanding and quick. Food: Okay. I have to say this was a bit of a disappointment. We chose from a set menu of dishes - I settled on the sea bass and my partner on the steak. For the price point you can simply find better in central London. We ended up not being super full after 2 courses here so ran over to Shake Shack after our show - which in itself feels like a bit of blasphemy but...c'est la vie.

Yelp
I just love love love this place. It's got a 1920s/1940s almost speakeasy feel and the cocktails are fabulous (try the New Fashioned, it's delicious!). We were seated in the basement which is expansive, nice and bright and a very pleasant room. The prix fixe menu includes 4 choices each of starter and main and all of them were very appealing. Our 10yo enjoyed a pineapple mojito and we each had the wine pairings with our prix-fixe choices. Everything was absolutely scrumptious and we were sorry to rush off, therefore missing out on pudding. Our service was absolutely delightful, probably the most smiling waitress I have ever encountered. We will of course be back!

Christina L.

Yelp
I thought this place was better than a lot of reviews out there. The menu is divided between sharing and main dishes and by categories/types of meat. The dishes were fresh with interesting flavours- often with an Asian twist eg kimchi mayo. Some highlights were: slow cooked salmon, chargrilled chicken with peanut butter sauce and lamb chops. Probably won't be rushing back but it wasn't a bad experience for a first time visit.

Yelp
Been here several times. Always excellent. We went for the three course plus gin and tonic deal and, as usual, we were not disappointed. The rosemary and sea salt bread was excellent as was the chilled soup starter. Pork main was delicious and really enjoyed the vanilla and honeycomb ice cream for dessert. A great night out.

Julie D.

Yelp
Whyyyyy does this place have so many stars???? The atmosphere is good, the cocktails are good, the croquettes were good, the steaks were tasteless, and medium rare arrived medium well, the truffle mac and cheese was watery and dull and the chicken dish was dry as hell. We couldn't even bring ourselves to order dessert. Disappointing at best.

Noel H.

Yelp
We enjoyed a very high quality food and service celebrating my friend's MBA, with a good deal. Nocellara del Belice olives, harissa glazed aubergine, peanuts, coriander and chilli, corn fed chicken, leg croquette, sprouts, trompettes, tarragon

Yelp
Other reviewers have slated this restaurant, but we thought we would try it out. We were seated fast and helpfully. The first sign of trouble was a waiter who didn't understand our request to find out what the specials were. We had to repeat our order multiple times to get it right. Our cocktails came and they were super sugary. We ordered four starters. The slider was tiny but delicious. The charcuterie was appalling and tasted of bland beetroot. The prawn dish looked bountiful, but had 4 tiny prawns and lots of deep fried onions and potato. The chicken wings were tiny and really salty. We cancelled our mains and left - the bill alone for a few starters and cocktails coming to £50. Nice venue, but food is expensive and miserly, and service was - on this occasion - poor.

Yelp
My bf and I fell upon Tredwells while we were at Xmas shopping event in seven dials last year It's been on my list to try for ages (and I still need to go back for a proper sit down meal) however we were a bit peckish while shopping and walked past it (wasn't really sure on exact location before then) and they were giving out free mince pies and bellini's as part of the Xmas shopping event. After testing the pies and drink (both made on site and pretty tasty) and looking at their menu, we decided to go in and get a few of their smaller dishes - we'd already spent too much and werent hungry enough for a whole meal! We were seated at the bar and served straight away! We had to send them away twice as they were so keen (I'm also quite slow at ordering). In the end we picked 3: pork sliders, chorizo jam with charred bread & battered courgettes! They were all good but the one that stood out for me was their chorizo jam! I also splashed out and got a £9 cocktail. I chose the GUNPOWDER GIMLET which was Gin, cardamom, green tea, lime. It was really good! Think bf got a beer :s Finally I think we both got a pudding. I had a ginger cake which was nice but nothing amazing. Can't remember what bf had but think it was ok but nothing special! Overall nice place, quite dark inside but friendly staff and good menu choice. Looking forward to going back for a proper dinner!

Yelp
Despite our being repeat customers, spending a decent amount on lunch and wine, they tried to rip us off in three separate ways on our bill, entirely unapologetically. On which basis, the only possible recommendation is that you should avoid this place like the plague.

Jinny N.

Yelp
When I came here I had no idea Tredwell's was a Marcus Wareing restaurant, which is probably a good thing as my expectations would have been much higher. Came here with a group of friends for dinner, due to bring mid week we all arrived in dribs and drabs, which can make it difficult to get everyone ready to order in a timely manner. We started with an order of drinks and starters. We opted to share a selection of the snacks. We were all hungry so these went down well. The pulled pork slider is tiny and we only ordered 3 so it was a mouthful each, to be fair the waiter warned us they were small but we didn't feel like spending £18 on snacks. The wings are good. Once we finished our snacks and drinks we struggled to get attention to order mains and more drinks. The restaurant was incredibly warm so if the staff had been more on the ball they could have got loads of drinks orders out of us. One of us had been the week before and said the service was excellent and couldn't understand how it could so bad a week later. For main I had the confit duck with cabbage with a side of mash. I get a little annoyed when I have to order sides with my main to complete the dish, plus the mash arrived in jar. What's wrong with a small bowl? Also there wasn't enough gravy, but I couldn't be bothered I ask for more. A couple ordered the smoked haddock gratin. It smelled amazing. There were sweet potato fries and kale slaw. But again the dishes arrived in fiddly little pots and dishes which made eating awkward. We sat for quite a while before our plates were cleared. I think if we hadn't been left for so long a few of us would have had dessert and coffee. But we were hot and just wanted to pay up and leave. If there service hadn't been so bad I would have given 3 stars.

Michael L.

Yelp
This restaurant is located conveniently in Covent Garden. The entrance itself is another story because you could miss it. We went here on a Sunday for the roast for 6 people. The sharing roast for two was good and the portion size was good for a couple to share. The risotto and polenta fries were good to share with our group. Only downside of the experience was that the waitstaff seemed to be really busy. They didn't ask if we wanted more water or drinks, when they came by to take away the empty glasses. That's the only negative point, the waitstaff overall were really friendly the rest of the time.

Alex B.

Yelp
Overall, a great option in the west end. Pros: Good pricing, nice decor, good food with a menu that is very friendly to people with allergies / vegetarians. Cons: Super pushy service. Seriously the wait staff were to the point of badgering us. I get that you gotta turn tables in the west end but it got to the point of being very uncomfortable. Also they claimed live jazz on saturday nights.. did not happen.

Yelp
A very good friend of mine was over visiting from the US and had spent most of a week eating pub food so I thought she would appreciate something a little more refined. I had a look on Bookatable for something in the right area and Tredwells popped up on the radar. I'm a big fan of Marcus Wareing so I jumped at the chance and she was more than happy with my choice. First off, the outside of Tredwells looks like any old bistro in central London. The inside is beautiful. My words can't describe it so take a look online at the photos. We were that couple who pisses off the wait staff by chatting instead of looking at the menu but taking a good look at the menu was worth it. I went for the special offer of 3 courses, a cocktail and chocolates to take home. Wow, I wasn't disappointed at all. This is AA Restaurant of the Year standard food (they were). For starter I had Cod Cheeks with Kimchi and buttermilk sauce. The cheeks were Slightly crispy on the outside and soft and glistening on the inside. The kimchi plenty spicy and the buttermilk sauce rich and a little sour. For main I had Barberry Duck breast with duck leg, coco beans and butternut squash. I also had spring greens as a side. I've gone off sick over the years after having it badly cooked so many times. I thought I would risk it and I'm happy I did. Slightly pink in the middle and no hint of dryness or the irony livery flavour you get with overlooked duck. The duck leg tasted like the best Peking duck you ever had and the coco beans and butternut squash were delicious. Dessert was Salted Caramel Soft serve and honeycomb. I love ice cream for dessert and it tends to be one of my go tos especially when it's not chocolate ice cream. It was fantastic. Smooth, creamy with a little saltiness from the caramel and a nice slightly burnt crunch from the honeycomb. My friend doesn't eat a lot so only had a main bug I let her try each of my dishes. She had Sea Bream for her main which came with leeks and a saffron brandade. I tried a little and the bream was cooked perfectly with nice crispy skin. We also had a very nice bottle of Chardonnay to accompany the meal. Tredwells will be on my recommendation list for quite some time to come and I can see myself visiting again a few times. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because I found that the attention from the wait staff was a little overbearing. It could be that I'm not used to dining at this fine an establishment so if it's the same the next time I go I will revisit this review.

Eva B.

Yelp
We decided to go in for an early supper on a Sunday night which meant it was fairly empty. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and tried their best to accommodate us. Food was really good - portion sizes are not large but you'd expect it from an upmarket restaurant like this.

Sam S.

Yelp
A magical lunch after seeing Caravaggio exhibition at the National Gallery. The charcoal grilled steak with peppercorn sauce was melt-in-the-mouth glorious. Probably the best steak I've ever had, and I like steak. My husband's lamb was excellent with mind-bending salt baked carrots and smoked mascarpone. We were going to skip home back to the babysitter and our small kids but were corrupted by the dessert menu into giggling over some delicious pear and ginger cake with clotted cream. The stardust which makes a restaurant like this special is the excellent service - all the staff made us feel welcome and as if it were a home from home. What a wonderful way to spend a miserable wet Saturday

Punam D.

Yelp
Came here tonight. On dear. I know it was a Monday night but four tables were taken the whole time we were there. Consequently the staff were completely over the top attentive. You put down your fork and they were at your side to pick up your plate. They constantly interrupted our conversation to move us on to the next course. I felt quite hustled. But it's not their fault; they were bored. In the end I had to tell them to leave us alone. No punters = no atmosphere. I wanted to ignore all the negative feedback in the reviews because it's Marcus Wareing at a price you can afford, right? I don't need to take out a second mortgage for this. Well the food was lovely. I had the goats cheese and beetroot salad to start which was tasty although meagre. Then I had the burger which was absolutely delicious. The chips with hollandaise were lovely but you couldn't shake the servers! They were friendly and helpful but uncomfortably at your shoulder. I'm not coming here again, sadly, and weirdly it's all down to the service.

Erin O.

Yelp
Delightful atmosphere and fresh decor. Went before seeing the ballet and would return again. Wine was available by carafe (3 glasses) which was a great option for 2 people. Duck confit appetizer and gin and tonic cheesecake were highlights!

Dhaksayini S.

Yelp
The service was very good, efficient and they had a cloak room which was great! The food was of a good standard and the pig cheek was delicious, we also enjoyed the drinks and the actual theme of the place is consistent which was nice. Would definitely go back again.
