The 10 Best Korean BBQ Restaurants in Houston

"Tree Garden in Spring Branch has two of our favorite KBBQ essentials: a menu long enough to count as a chapter in a book, and enough soju in house to satisfy even the largest of birthday gangs. The servers leave you to your own devices, circling back once in a while to make sure you’re still OK, but that gives you plenty of time to dive into caramelized meats. While this might not be the most life–changing place you’ll ever have KBBQ, it’s pleasantly low-key and you can admire the little things, like the many adorable house plants that sit atop the dividers." - gianni greene, chelsea thomas

"Tree Garden in Spring Branch has two of our favorite KBBQ essentials: a menu long enough to count as a chapter in a book and enough soju in house to satisfy even the largest of birthday gangs. The servers leave you to your own devices, circling back once in a while to make sure you’re still OK, but that gives you plenty of time to dive into caramelized meats. Late hours, semi‑private booths, and a sprawling menu that includes grill sets make this a favorite among neighborhood regulars. The Infatuation calls it pleasantly low‑key; it’s the kind of place where a second round of soju just happens.

Overall the food was pretty good but today it lacked much flavor. I wish the bulgogi was cooked long and with more sauce to bring out the flavor. The sides were pretty good but nothing stood out. The soup was probably the highlight with a salty kimchi flare. The lunch special is at a good price! I wish I tried the bbq instead. The staff were super nice and helpful.

This restaurant been around forever! So we decided to stop in for lunch. We decide to let them bbq for us in the back kitchen and it came out delicious. the Galbi meat was tender and full of flavor and cooked perfectly. we also enjoy their banchan side dishes that pair nicely with the bbq meat. their galbi tang soup and Jajangmyeon noodles was pretty good too.

Korean restaurants in the area are usually really good. This place is no exception. Prices are really high though, nearly $40 for an order of Kalbi. Banchan’s aren’t as plentiful or tasty as other places. Really enjoyed sweetened rice water they give after the mean.

This authentic Korean restaurant has become my go-to spot for lunch, and it never disappoints. If you're looking for a true taste of Korea, this is the place to be! The soups are absolutely fantastic—rich, flavorful, and deeply comforting. My kids also love them. They’re perfect for any day, especially when you need something warm and satisfying. The array of small side dishes (banchan) is another highlight. From pickled vegetables to savory bites, everything is fresh, delicious, and a perfect complement to the meal. One of the best things about this place is how healthy the food feels. The ingredients are clearly top-notch, and you can tell the dishes are crafted with care and authenticity. It’s no surprise that you’ll often see Korean patrons dining here—a true testament to the quality and authenticity of the cuisine. The waitresses are incredibly sweet and attentive, always making you feel welcome and ensuring you have everything you need. Their kindness adds a personal touch that makes each visit feel special. If you’re craving a hearty, authentic Korean meal that’s both delicious and nourishing, this restaurant is a must-visit. Highly recommended! 🍲🇰🇷

Finally found our authentic Korean spot in Houston! Moved here from Dallas last year and every Korean place I tried was a bit of a disappointment till I found Tree Garden. I knew it was going to be good when I called to see if they were indeed open till midnight and they answered in Korean and when we came in, it was full of Koreans speaking Korean. We ordered spicy squid, kimchi Jjigae, the rice cakes reminded me of my childhood and spice, flavor, texture was on point! LA Galbi was DELICIOUS! Worth the price. Will be a repeat customer for sure.

Google
Seafood pancake here was balanced with a good amount of vegetables and seafood. It was the right amount of crispiness as well. The accompanying sauce was tangy and sweet. As for the seafood + soft tofu hot pot, it was quite a generous portion. I've never seen so much tofu in one pot before! Good variety of seafood as well such as octopus, clams, mussels etc. I feel that the hot pot broth was just a bit bland. It could've used either more garlic, soy sauce, or fish sauce even. Initially I enjoyed it but as I kept tasting the soup I realized I was mainly just getting red pepper powder water flavor. I recommend ordering ramen noodles to add to the hot pot. Side dishes here were nothing to write home about. I appreciated having a call button though!

Tree Garden is my favorite spot—I eat here weekly with a friend! My favorite is the duck barbecue and the staff is always welcoming. My kids also like the food here despite being quite picky. Highly recommend!

Google
I’m trying to give Houston more chances with Korean food, but it just can’t compete with Atlanta or Dallas… This place is another example. Excellent service - super friendly staff and quick servings. Also the atmosphere is good - almost like a labyrinth designed restaurant. The layout consists of separated semi-private tables. Three stars because of the food. The flavor and texture is just not on point. Banchan were just ok overall. The boiled pork belly is too dry and chewy. Beef stew and pork stir fry were good, but not great in terms of flavor

Yelp
The atmosphere, food, service, and basically everything at this restaurant gives the vibe of a mom-and-pop. The food is delicious! Arguably some of the best Korean food I've had in Houston. I do agree it IS a little pricey; however, for the portion sizes that you get and the quality of the food, it is totally worth it. I haven't had their bbq yet, so I cannot attest to it yet. But I will definitely return soon to enjoy more of their delicious cooking! Would totally recommend this spot if you're craving some delicious Korean food.

Yelp
I think I figured out why this restaurant is called Tree Garden. There is a forest around the corner alongside Oak Tree Drive on Long Point Road. The reason I came here was because Super Hmart was closed at 9:30 on Sunday. I pulled up my phone and searched the nearest Korean restaurant that was still open. The direction was clear but I had a hard time locating it. The parking lot is well lit but the sign was not obvious. I managed to find parking at the designated spot. As I walked in, I felt a little claustrophobic because of the tall cubicle walls. They were painted black. Although they provide privacy from the booth over. A friendly lady seated me by the entrance. She must knew I was hungry. We chatted for a bit as I learned it's been open for about 9 years. She frequently check on me after my dish arrived. I ordered BEEF SMALL INTESTINE NAPA SOUP. The menu said it has tripe but I couldn't find it. This dish has a V symbol, which means it can be a vegetarian dish. Since the pork beef intestines were hard to chew, I made it vegetarian for myself. The banchan had smaller portions. I like them because they were delightful. Kimchi was flavorful. I asked for another bowl of rice ($2.00). Overall, I enjoyed my dinner here. I think I was the last customer at the time. I think I'll be back to try other dishes with V symbols.

Yelp
I thought the tofu soup was good but super spicy. Bbq pork was good and seasoned well. I didn't think the banchan was that good though. The inside is separated into little booths which I didn't like as much but it allows for some privacy. The service wasn't that fast and they didn't really check on us that much which I don't really mind usually but I needed water for a while before they came.

Yelp
My partner and I tried this tasty, hole-in-the-wall Korean restaurant in the Spring Branch area. I took advantage of the lunch special ordered the mildly spicy shredded beef vegetable soup, which was incredibly filling though the meat was slightly overcooked (perhaps also a function of my not eating it fast enough and it cooking in the broth). I liked that this place paid attention to the details, from the refill of banchan to offering us purple as opposed to white rice at no extra charge. The bill was accompanied by some sort of rice tea which was a great end to the meal.

Yelp
HOUSTON, TX 77055 / KOREAN / 07-25-24 / DINNER +Customer service was good, our waitress checked on us 3-4 times throughout our meal. +The banchan side dishes were superb. +All of the entrees were delicious. +The secluded tables are a nice setup, as you can better converse and a little more quiet than other Korean restaurants. +They provide refreshingly cold, roasted barley water. +At the end of the meal, they provide a fermented rice punch drink. -The portion sizes were a bit on the small side.

Yelp
Would give 10 stars if I could! This place has definitely made my top one Korean restaurant in Houston and I can't believe it took me this long to try it out. You are seated within cubicles which gives nice privacy and the staff were the sweetest people and made this an even more enjoyable dining experience. We ordered seafood pancake which was crispy and came with the garlic sweet sauce with a perfect seafood to batter ratio. We also ordered a beef and octopus hot pot which was the star of the show with large variety of vegetables and slices of beef and chewy octopus which the staff helped us cook, cut and serve to us. The broth was so flavorful that was spicy with a sweet undertone that made it so addicting. I also ordered a Korean ramen with egg which is such a comfort food and the broth was so spicy and flavorful. The side dishes are always such a great addition with their kimchi really giving a tangy kick to the rest of the meal. If you are looking for authentic Korean food with great service, please try this place out! Will for sure be a regular and would love to try out the rest of the menu in the future!

Yelp
Since I was craving for tofu soup, I went there again last night and I can proudly say that this restaurant offers the best vegetarian tofu soup! :) They service is great and generous with the portion of foods! Amazing thing about Koran restaurant is that they give you a lot of delicious side dishes as a part of their service! I enjoy their amazing service a lot! You also get a nice privacy in the restaurant as they have walls around by tables. Very considerate! I'll keep coming here! :) If you have vegetarian friends, bring them here I'm sure they love it! :) Cheers

Yelp
Everything was perfect, food was great, service was excellent, the ladies they were all nice. This is a great place to get authentic Korean food. Is one of our favorite restaurants in Korea town. Highly recommend this place, everything is served fresh and the quality of the meat is excellent!

Yelp
One of the best Korean restaurants that I've been to! They have authentic Korean food and private dining areas/booths. The food is amazing and the service is good as well. We ordered Jjajangmyeon (not the best, I expected a stronger/more flavorful black bean taste), LA Galbi (recommended), stir-fried kimchi and pork belly, and seafood tofu soup. There were not many side dishes but they're ALL SO GOOD so we asked for a refill. Definitely coming back to try other dishes.

Yelp
Always enjoyed this place for its authentic Korean options. Love the traditional private rooms/booths, not too crowded parking options. Good service overall but can get busy. The serving size can be generous but also pricey for KBBQ. I've enjoyed their short rib and decided to try the squid this time, the kimchee pancake is a hit, and the seafood noodle soup Jjamppong was very flavorful. I like how you can customize your spice levels on most every dish, and the menu is fairly descriptive. The small sides options are always good and may include Kimchi, sprouts, potatoes, pickled radish, fish cake, egg, etc. Overall, love the Koreatown area overall and this is one of the higher recommended places especially since they open late.

Yelp
Excellent Korean dumplings and bbq in the company of good friends! First time at this restaurant - service was good, food even better, traditional Korean bbq - beef, pork, octopus...very nicely done. Our friends graciously hosted. Plan to return.

Yelp
Unfortunately we got sat and they forgot about us, we left after 30 minutes. The food looked good and the space was nice. Too bad we didn't get to try it.
google avatar

Yelp
Very non-descript on the outside in a run-down looking strip mall but definitely a diamond in the rough. The interior is very cute and traditional looking with private rooms and cute booths. Servers are very courteous and they have a call button at every table which is very convenient, and also necessary with the way the restaurant is set up. The food here is delicious. We love the japchae, dumplings, dukbokki, seafood pancake, oyster pancake, tofu soups, and the army stew. Everything is flavorful and amazing. However, the side dishes are only ok and their barley tea lacks flavor. But for the most part, their food is great and we will definitely we back.

Yelp
Let me preface this by saying that this spot gets 5 stars for their cubicle style seating. It's nice to have a little bubble for just our group to dine in. There's even a call button if we needed anything from our waitress. Otherwise, the food was a hit or miss. Plus, it was really expensive for the amount they gave us. Here's a breakdown of what we ordered: Pork belly (4/5): It was pretty good. But, I think this was standard pork belly compared to other Korean restaurants. Banchan (3/5): I've definitely had better and more flavorful banchan. I was hoping for Korean potato salad banchan. None here. Seafood pancake (3/5): It was kind of bland. I've definitely had better. Even the sauce that came with it was just alright Japchae (4/5): It was delicious and flavorful. But, I couldn't give it 5 stars because they gave us so little of it for the price. Seaweed roll (4/5): I loved this. So umami with the seaweed outside and sesame flavored glass noodles. I didn't give a full 5 stars because of price and amount. Fried rice with fried egg on top (4/5): Delicious. Flavorful. Umami. Wished they'd given us more because I enjoyed eating this. Overall, it's hard to say that we'd come back again. It was expensive to eat here, and not feel gypped with the portion sizes we received.

Yelp
This is my go-to Korean bbq spot in Houston. You get some privacy with their booths setup, the service has a very homey feel. They have call buttons in your booths, should you need anything. Food is fantastic. Their pork belly kimchi stir fry is a must order everytime for me. If this weren't so far from my home, they'd likely be my weekend haunt tbh. Always a love for me!

Yelp
Wonderful service, great food. We couldn't find good Korean cousins in Houston area ! Finely we found some great Korean restaurants. Was great dishes and wonderful service our all family enjoyed. Thank you! We so starving forgot to take the picture!! Hahaha

Yelp
Located in the Koreatown area, this place was recommended to me by a friend, and I'm glad I took his recommendation! The big allure of this establishment is the seating. You get your own sectioned off cubicle to eat in. There's also a bell to summon a waitress. I have visited twice now--once for kbbq and once for a hot soup. The menu is pretty varied and offers group meals as well. Definitely go for the short rib if you want the ultimate kbbq experience. The pork belly was good, but the short rib was phenomenal... super delicious and tender. My sundubu was tasty, and the broth was tasty. I wish there was a bit more seafood included. The chive pancake was nice, though I prefer thinner. Definitely keeping this in my rotation!

Yelp
Jajangmyeon is good every time that we come. Love it, as well as the variations of their fried rice, and kimchi dumplings!

Yelp
I wanted to try another Korean restaurant in the area and decided to give Tree Garden a shot. Still trying to find a favorite go-to place with amazing Korean food. Well.. Tree Garden wasn't it. The restaurant itself is clean and super nice inside. Each booth is separated by walls so you have privacy and pretty good for social distancing during Covid. They have the little bell thing you can ring for service; which means quick and great service! I forgot these existed in Korean places and I absolutely love the concept. But the food is just mediocre. We ended up ordering a bunch of dishes to try: *Kimchi Dumplings - served hot! I found the flavors inside the dumplings to be a bit on the bland side. We ended up dipping them in the pancake sauce. 3/5 *Seaweed Rolls - these are seaweed wrapped around some clear noodles, battered and deep fried. Served with a mustard/mayo type sauce. The most impressive thing about this dish was how crispy they got it. The batter was pretty good but the overall flavor again was bland. 3/5 *Seafood Paejun aka Seafood Pancake - this one came really doughy and not crispy enough. There was a lot of green onion but barely any seafood. Literally a few pieces of squid here and there and maybe 1 shrimp in the whole thing. 2/5 *Dukbokki aka Spicy Rice Cakes - this dish came with rice cakes in a spicy sauce with fish cakes and a hard boiled egg. Flavors were ok here and the rice cakes were what I expected. 4/5 *Seafood Tofu Soup - this one came with clams, mussels and a few pieces of shrimp and squid. Initially I felt the flavors were lost and I could only taste spice - it was better heated up the next day as the flavors melded together. Tofu was plentiful - not the softest tofu used though. 3/5 Overall, the place was average at best with great service. I didn't try any of the Korean bbq but I think with the number of Korean places in the area, I wouldn't go out of my way to make it back here again.

Yelp
There really aren't super amazing Korean restaurants in Houston. I lived in Dallas a few years back and their Korean food scene is just leagues above Houston. I think in Dallas, Tree Garden would be a 3 star restaurant, in Houston, it's a 4 on a good day. The staff are super nice and the food comes out quickly. I've never had a hard time finding parking or a table. I like their large menu and little private cubby dining spaces. They're very cozy and you feel like you're in an old Korean home. I like the atmosphere. I usually just get the soondubu jigae with seafood. It's no BCD tofu house but it's solid and hard to mess up. We also got one of the shareable stews (soondubu) and they served it table side for us. The fried chicken is not the best. It tastes almost like American fried chicken, it's so flavorless and the batter so thick. The pajeon can be very greasy. The naengmyun is tasty and refreshing. The best thing is the banchan. There is a huge variety and you can always request more. At the end of the meal, you get this sweet rice drink. I love it and wish my friends would not drink theirs and give it to me instead (hasn't happened yet). All in all, a solid restaurant if you're craving some regular (not fusion) Korean food in Houston.

Yelp
Beef Bulgogi, Cheese Corn and Spicy Rice Cakes tasted authentic and delicious. Didn't get the Korean BBQ feel (no coals used and it was just a portable grill they put on top of a gas fire). A bit pricey for the amount of meat given. I would say the meat price to quality ratio didn't meet expectations. Service was mediocre and we were forgotten about plenty of times. Took longer to bring the sides than the actual meat, banchan, and other items. We were done with our food when the cheese corn arrived (towards the end of our meal). Had to remind them a couple of times. Good to try, but not to return. Better Korean spots in the area.
google avatar

Claire L.

Yelp
this place has delicious korean food! as a korean myself, i'd say their dishes are pretty authentic. i love their beef bone soup! the sides are great too but i don't rly need them. the only ones i would go with are kimchi and kimchi cubes. i also order their spicy rice cake with fried seaweed rolls and they go well together for sure. i however think the spicy rice cake is a bit inconsistent. last time i got was way better than the one i got yesterday. the hot green tea is a must. all staffs are really friendly and the bell makes everything easier when you need something. i like how they have booths and closed rooms, it minimizes the noise. one star has been taken off because even tho they try to keep the noise level down, sometimes it can get loud and obnoxious. also there were times where i am eating and they were cleaning which dropped my appetite because i could smell bubbly soap smell and i wanted to gag. ample parking right upfront.

Yelp
Fabulous find! Fine experience at the Tree Garden. Unfamiliar with Korean food we noted food we liked but dicey to order. The food was outstanding!

Yelp
This place is always a go to for good Korean dishes. I love the spicy seafood noodles it always hits the spot every time. Never fails!

Yelp
this place is legit!! Came here with my parents and we ended up eating here 2 days in a row. Korean mom approved ;) We tried their market soup, mackerel, black bean noodles, cold buckwheat noodles (both the spicy and the broth kind) and they were all FIRE!!! Also the banchan is good quality too!! They even had spicy squid And I love the shikhye they gave at the end - the perfect amount of iciness. literally want to go back tomorrow...

Yelp
If you are looking for great food, and don't want anybody to be looking at you while you eat, this is a great place for it. This restaurant has private seated areas, and every table has its own stove where you can cook your own meat. There is also a little bell to call your waiter when you need something. We ordered the dumplings and seafood hotpot. The dumplings were amazing- soft and crispy at the same time. They were so savory! The hotpot was very good and it came with all these little side dishes but I felt like the broth needed a little more flavor or seasoning to it. It was my first time trying this food so don't take my word for food authenticity but I really liked it. Overall it was a great experience and I will come back to this place. The waitresses are nice and friendly as well.
google avatar

David N.

Yelp
Cute and very nice restaurant with respectful pleasant staff. They have a lot of options on the menu for traditional Korean dishes. The items are made fresh and if you order the BBQ, then it is cooked at your table. The customer cooks the food generally. Which is a fun and nice experience. They do bring out the standard small side dishes that are complimentary with the meal (Kim chi, pickled radish, fish cake). Overall a nice place and fun dinner. Very large parking lot with several wide open spaces. Will return

Yelp
This Place is great service was ok I ordered beef dumpling with cheese and also ordered a army's soup it's was like a tease so yeah I'm not happy it started off good it was good it scolded me and it had more sausages than anything I spend 3 hours trying to get to from the surface area of the soup and the my gave me the flattest spoon it took 7000 spoonfuls to get to from the surface area and reach the middle of soup and here's the best part there like barely and noodles in this bowl it i only had like maybe half of ramen sheet the photo show a that I had noodles but I swear to you I only had like 4 chopstick handfuls of ramen low key I do love the cast iron bowl it kept the soup very hot throughout the night oh also here the receipt of what we ate there's no detail of what we ordered it's all number I don't think I'm gonna be coming back anytime soon, maybe for the appetizers but that's it

Yelp
What happens when you cross the Jungle Book with Korean food? A: Tree Garden Korean Restaurant! This restaurant is quaint, traditional, but it literally looks like a indoor jungle of vine plants used to divide booths and rooms. It gives a real interesting vibe that speaks quaint and traditional, yet cafe-ish vibe, only you're not sipping on a latte. The only thing about their set up is that the walking spaces are quite narrow. If they open the door to serve a party in the rooms, then it blocks the walkway. Perhaps they should put in sliding doors instead? It's all good because it's so private and you're literally cut off from the waking world (at least the booth we were in). There is a button to ring the person serving the table, complete with WiFi passwords, just in case you feel shut in or claustrophobic. While they have highly touted traditional Korean dishes including galbi tang, seafood pancakes, bibimbap, pork belly, and bbq dishes galore, we opted for the more unique food that they're good at- the Korean hot pot. We opted for the Seafood hot pot (35.99) which was meant to serve 2-3. We got the mildly spicy as we never could tell how spicy they can be at certain Korean places. The amount of seafood was absolutely stellar. There was a multitude of clams, mussel, squid, and shrimp. It was excellent. However we thought the banchan dishes were a bit lacking.ll, as well tasted bland to us. The best one was the eggplant. However everything else was average at best. Other than that, so excited to "swing by" and try their fantastic food.

Yelp
The servers are always very welcoming and friendly here! Whenever my grandparents visit Houston, they always want to stop by here because they love the food! Our top 3 would be their tang soo yuk 탕수육, ah gu jjim 아구찜, and goat soup 염소탕 (grandpa's fave)! Highly recommend if you are looking for authentic Korean food! They have everything here!

Yelp
My all time favorite Korean BBQ joint! I love it here. Service is also great. I love how they stay open until 12! However, pricing here is a little more expensive than usual. But so worth it.

Yelp
Very convenient since this restaurant closes late. I do sometimes get out of work late...retail...so super convenient! Even on weekdays. The waitresses that work here are super nice. Lots of selections on the menu. The only minus is the parking lot...I think there is a night club in the back..so a little shady. The food is authentic and good. Like the privacy cubicles that i get every time I come.

Yelp
Delicious!! Didn't take many pictures as the food was too good to stop and take more photos. We ordered sliced beef brisket and sliced pork belly to cook on the griddle. Kimchi tofu soup with pork, beef bone soup, black bean noodles, fried seaweed and noodles, and Korean rice punch. Everything was spectacular and the customer service was amazing. This is only my second time coming here but I would definitely come back!!
google avatar

Nicole F.

Yelp
I was looking for decently priced Korean food with good side dishes and came across this place. It's quite cute and traditional looking on the inside! Since they serve kbbq here, all the tables are separated by little walls, which I like because it gives more privacy. Also for the same reason, they also have a call button, which is super helpful because of those walls. I ordered hot stone bibimbap (pretty standard), my bf ordered the spicy seafood soup (it was huge and pretty good for only $13), and we also ordered a seafood pancake to share. Everything was quite good, and I also liked the numerous side dish options. The food came out quite fast as well.

Yelp
Seafood Hot Pot is so delicious! Octopus, Fish, fish roe, mussels, and shrimp. This dish can feed 3 people. My wife and I always take what's left. We've gone here twice already and both times are great! They provide all the usual Korean sides as well. About 10 of them.

Yelp
Tree Garden is fabulous and a treasure in Spring Branch for all things Korean food including Hot Pot and BBQ.

Yelp
I went there last weekend. Food was so so. The issue was, they were Not honest. I gave them tips . But when I checked my credit card today, they charged more than what was on the bill with $4 more. Not a big deal but I will not recommend this place. Just don't go!!!!

Yelp
I was in Paris in the Luxembourg JARDIN When I got arrested for letting a GUARD IN I begged Chirac and Merkel for a PARDON But nobody remembered all the videos I STARRED IN I broke out of prison by knocking out the WARDEN Made it to an ATM but couldn't get my CARD IN Stowed away in a container full of SARDIN (es) Fooled the US customs with a load of JARGON Emerged a free man and found myself in HOUSTON And the smell of soup was making me HARDEN Yuk Gae Jang in the air gave me a HARD ON So I followed the smell and it took me to TREE GARDEN WHAT What to get: Yuk Gae Jang or anyone you fancy Huh?: I mean anything you fancy Kind of an obvious name though. I mean, if your garden doesn't have trees, there's a problem, no? If you just come here to use the restroom, it's Pee Garden, but they won't be happy about it. I'm always delighted when I find a restaurant that's open extremely late - that also happens to have delicious food, and is affordable. Tree Garden is supposed to be open until midnight every night, but they do close-ups sometime after 11 if they're quiet, which unfortunately they often are. I think it's related to the area that they're in. It's not exactly a hot spot for restaurants around midnight. It's more of a residential area. But they should be busy because they're very, very good. And much better than 99% of what's open at this time of night, including all the crap that is packed out the door in more fashionable parts of town. If you get bitten by a creepy crawly, it's Flea Garden. The Yuk Gae Jang is great, and the dumplings are good too. I'm looking forward to coming back here a 4th and 5th time to try more dishes off the menu, and it's always nice to have a good option for Korean food, which is one of my favorite cuisines. If Indians buy the place, it's Ghee Garden. Excellent decor, very clean and traditional with private booths (not very good for people watching though, and lonely if you eat alone. Lonely AF. Service is really nice here, but what you get charged for can sometimes vary. For example I was told that an extra bowl of rice was free and then I was charged $2 for it. Since the owners were also doing the serving I just knocked that price off of the tip that I was going to give so it balances itself out. I just do not like being nickel-and-dimed and it's almost enough for me to lower this excellent late night option to a 4-star rating. But that's the way the Korean Seafood Pancake crumbles, and the food is good, the hours are good, the people are nice, so I'm not going to deduct a star for that. I should though. And I wish they wouldn't nickel and dime loyal customers. Or any customers. It's not worth it. If you're a princess and your bed feels lumpy, it's Pea Garden. Another issue is that if you're here around 11 (an hour before closing), you will feel maybe a little rushed, and they will rush out of there right after you're done. And close up the restaurant early. As you can tell, I've had very different experiences at Tree Garden. One or two positive ones when I came early, and a less enjoyable, rushed, nickel-and-dimed one when I was here late. But if the food was free, it'd be Free Garden, not Tree Garden. The little side dishes they give you are excellent. But my friend and partner-in-crime thinks they are good and comes back here with me just to eat them. I'm also not crazy about the latest YGJ that I had. It's tasty but nowhere near as good as the ones I've had in NYC and Buffalo that I loved. It's not bad at all tho. If they open up a location in Aspen, it'll be Ski Garden. Barbie says: "Tree Garden is really good and open late! The soup was really flavorful and a good level of spiciness. I also enjoyed the kimchi dumplings! It's really cute with all the table cubicles!" If you find this place so sexy that you spontaneously combust, so to speak, that's not Tree Garden, that's Me Garden (tosses hair). And the last time we were here there was a big, aggressive, violent fight outside the Korean Bar in the same plaza. So yours truly went over to the huge guy scaring the crap out of the little guy, and told him the police were on the way and that he needed to back off. That didn't go down very well, but he did as I said. #YelpTough And if you spend all your money here, it's Spree Garden. If you run from the cops and hide here, it's Flee Garden. If they sell honey it's Bee Garden. If you came here before it opened, it was Pre-Garden. And if you get arrested from following the advice in my reviews, I'll hook you up with a Plea Bargain.

Yelp
Thank you so much Tree Garden fits great first Korean BBQ experience! The food was amazing and the staff was so sweet. When you come, try a lot of different things! Everything is amazing- we did a poor spread of pork belly, pork shoulder, and pork neck. Pair this with some beer and Soju and you are in for a real treat! Plenty of parking - the place sneaks up on you / it has its own driveway and narrow strip center parking area.

Yelp
Presented with a few Korean choices in that specific area, we opted to go with Garden Korean restaurant. We got ourselves a nice private pod and were presented with the menus. It took a good 12 to 15 minutes to decide on what to order. There were too many choices, and I couldn't really narrow down my choice. I would opt for one thing and then after speaking with the waiter and getting a more detailed description, would then prevent me from ordering that item. This went on for some time and I finally decided to go with bulgogi beef which was actually just listed as a lunch item. We also ordered some dumplings and Bibimbab(beef on crispy rice). Bulgogi beef is a Korean specialty and was very good. It had the right amount of veggies complimenting it and sauteed with it. Beef was tender and easy to chew. Got a nice bowl of rice with it and a small amount of soup and array of sides. Our dumplings were served with sauce and they both tasted pretty good. Also the beef bowl was good and it was served with shredded veggies n rice with an egg on top. We enjoyed our dinner. Our service was up to par. There were different people bringing the food and refilling our drink orders. Our main waiter was very patient with us as he explained in detail about the choices I was inclining towards. I shall return.

Yelp
What a treat! Our church handed out vouchers when COVID peaked to help support businesses and restaurants during the pandemic. TBH, I had totally forgotten about the vouchers and forgot to use them...thankfully they were gracious enough to still allow us to use it even though it was expired. The exterior looks a bit shabby, only because it's in the heart of Spring Branch and nestled in Korean Town on Long point. If you know the area, it's filled with taquerias, taco trucks, MAM's Resale shop, and then shared by what's left of Korea Town in Houston. But once you walk in, it takes you to the traditional, cozy, private dining experience you'd expect from a Korean bbq restaurant. The booths are created and enclosed just high enough to enjoy your privacy while dining. Koreans love their privacy when eating a meal. My mom and I reviewed the menu, she ordered to-go and we waited while drinking hot barley tea - her favorite. We waited about twenty minutes and took the food home and grilled the meats at home. While the side dishes, purple rice, and the marinade were on point, the beef we ordered were cut into thick chunks and was a bit chewy after we grilled them. Some kiwi would help. Price point is what you'd expect from a typical Korean bbq restaurant. It's a bit pricey but if you're sharing the meal it doesn't dent your wallet too much!... This is a perfect dinner spot when you don't feel like making dinner but want your Korean bbq fix! Definitely will come back and try other things!

Yelp
Authentic Korean with large portions!! I really like how they sert up the place into privates booths (ses pics). Everything was good, except the buckwheat noodles. Never had them before, but they were super chewy and you cannot bite through them. Wasn't expecting it to be a cold dish either. The noodles was a combo that came with marinated beef short ribs (tender and flavored just right. The deep fried chicken was cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside! Our waitress was nice and gave us rice juice for dessert. That was the icing on top and helped cleanse my palette. Will definitely come back and try the Korean bbq.

Yelp
I enjoyed the food I ordered today. I like the fact that the seats are separated so the customers get the feeling of privacy. The service was also great. I'll definitely come back to this place to try other items.

Yelp
Nice traditional Korean restaurant open late night. Tteokbokki with cheese was delicious. I love the cheese they used and the amount they included. It was very generous and it had a good balance of spice and sweetness. The japchae noodles fried and wrapped with seaweed was my favorite appetizer. It was flavorful but perfect with the tteokbokki The army stew comes in a decent size, definitely enough for 4 if you're getting other items. It has ramen, sausage, kimchi, etc... It needed a stronger flavor but still okay. The jajameoing is the black bean noodle. I liked how they added a egg on top. BUT it was lacking black bean flavor. The noodles was over done. Wouldn't get this again. Overall, this place was okay. Would love to try new stuff next time I come in. Service was great and the server was very attentive. Clean place, spacious enough to where each table has their own area for privacy and tables were clean.

Yelp
I never heard of this place except through my church and when I looked this place up, I found out they serve traditional Korean food. I thought I would use my food voucher to check this place out. Setting: I only did pick up order, so my description will be limited in the department. First thing I notice is it's on a corner of a small shopping strip, the next street pass blaylock if you're heading west on longpoint. The parking is not bad and when you enter the restaurant, it kind of reminded me of a wooden maze. The layout has it where the tables and chairs are surrounded by wooden walls and there are two main aisles that separate from the entrance, towards the restrooms in the back and the bar area. The decor is very nice traditional Korean style look! Food: I ordered the Jajangmyeon, which is Korean noodle with black sauce. The sauce is more kind of like a pastry viscosity, with meat, veggies mixed in. If you never eaten it, it taste like a mixture of soy sauce and mash potatoes combined, except it's not as sour. It's a very distinct taste. It was really good, but I've had better at a specialty noodle place. I also ordered the beef dumplings called Sogogi gun mandu which was pan fried and served with soy sauce on the side. It was really beefy and wasn't over fried, and it was cooked well! Overall: This place is very nice start if you want to try traditional Korean food for the first time! They have a lot of other dishes I wanted to try, like their seafood, stews, and definitely their KBBQ! That being said, this place is in the heart of Korean town and has some good competition around it. But all in all, I would highly recommend this place and would come back to try their other dishes!

Yelp
So, this is nothing short of my newest most favorite place. Oh my goodness, I enjoyed my Spicy Seafood Noodle! Can't wait to try other items on their menu. Houston touts some steep competition when it comes to Korean food, but this little gem of a place has won my heart and stomach. The service was fantastic too.

Yelp
I never want to post a bad review about a place with a great ambience and large portions but the food tonight was extremely lacking. I've eaten at several Korean restaurants in Houston and Philadelphia and went to Korea years ago and was completely blighted by this experience at Tree Garden. We decided to go to this resturant because they were opened late and wanted Korean food. It's a nice place and feels very relaxed when you walk it. It smelt amazing in there and the menu was VERY LARGE. We ordered the jajangmyeon and jjampong and the portions were HUGE. Enough for 4 people. But it was disappointing and tasteless. In the jjampong the octopus was sour and not kimchi sour like no longer good sour. The broth was more watery. The jajangmyeon didn't have that black bean flavor that I was so used to, it was saucy but no flavor in the sauce. The meat was minced but there was no flavor in the meat as well. It was just disappointing. After eating 2-3 bites trying to get the flavor, We told the waiter that we didn't like the food and we were given the receipt with the dishes still on there. We refused to pay because we really ate 2-3 bites trying to find the flavor. After this the owner said that it was okay and that we didn't have to pay but he demanded we pay the waiter a tip and basically made us feel like were just Americans who never experienced Korean food therefore didn't know what we were talking about. This was too much and I didn't want to defend myself when it comes to flavor so I just remained silent. While I still paid the tip. I will NOT be coming back due to this. The menu felt like a diverse set of cuisine but it's a lot and in some areas some dishes aren't held up to the same standards as others. However, I understand that Tree Garden is known more for their BBQ and soups rather than their noodles. So in no way do I discourage people to NOT go even though I had a bad experience. However, these two dishes are very bad and would recommend going to a resturant that specializes in noodles. Like Paik Noodles or even the Hmart food court (sorry) because I know it would be better.
