Actor Danny Trejo's restaurant. Tony had an assortment of tacos just before they had their grand opening: "jidori chicken with chipotle cream sauce, some charred branzino with summer squash and sauteed poblano peppers, and crispy pork tacos with black garlic mole and some fat sacks of uni, and lots of healthy greens."

Trejo's Tacos Review - Mid-Wilshire - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"“Machete don’t fail!” One of the many immortal lines spoken in the classic B movie exploitation franchise Machete, and also a pretty accurate description of everything that went down at Trejo’s Tacos before it officially opened. Trejo’s Tacos is named after (and owned) by Machete star and growing Hollywood legend, Danny Trejo. Located on a strip of S. La Brea where not much of anything happens, Trejo’s Tacos is a slick, casual taco joint where at pretty much any point in the day there’s a line out wrapped around the corner. But it wasn’t always like this. After soft opening, and then closing, and then re-opening over the course of several months, we all began to wonder if this thing was ever really going to happen. Was this the moment Machete finally fails? Yeah, right. Whatever bogus city zoning hoops Trejo’s had to jump through were conquered probably because Danny Trejo showed up at City Hall and just silently stared at everyone until sh*t got handled. And it did. Trejo’s finally opened, and it’s safe to say it’s a massive success. photo credit: Holly Liss Aside from the afternoon lines (seriously, give yourself an extra half hour), Trejo’s is a well-run, relaxed, and very accessible lunch spot in an area that badly needed it. The space used to be an old auto repair shop, but has been completely redone into an airy taco oasis with a fantastic patio and long communal tables ideal for a lunch hour swing-by with friends or after-work solo binge. While the tacos themselves aren't necessarily life-changing (the Fried Jidori Chicken is a real winner though), it's everything else on the vegan-friendly menu that gets us excited. The white shrimp tostada w/citrus is light, sweet, and quite spicy. The guacamole has pistachios, and there’s a street corn side dish that makes all regular popcorn seem outdated. Like any successful movie franchise, there are sequels already in the works. So if you can’t make it to S. La Brea on lunch hour, be on the lookout for a Trejo’s near you. Because after all the ups-and-downs, Danny Trejo delivered a cool concept with food good that'll keep people (and us) coming back. Never doubt Machete. Food Rundown Fried Jidori Chicken Taco Wrapped in lettuce, one could argue that this isn’t actually even a taco, and more just fried chicken wrapped in lettuce. Let’s not split hairs here. This thing is delicious and that’s all that matters. Guacamole It really takes some doing to make a guac in this town that matters, and Trejo’s has done just that. The vegan-friendly dish is both chunky and spicy, and in a true stroke of genius, covered in pistachios. Give it all to us. Grilled Mexican White Shrimp Tostada Not only is this fairly substantial, it’s one of the better things on the menu. If it was just the citrus and avocado with the shrimp, this thing would be too sweet to eat. But it all works out because the serrano pepper brings in the heat and transports you to heaven. Steak Asada Taco Residing in the FOR SURE taco category, the Steak Asada is definitely our favorite. The asada itself is pretty good, but it’s that toasted pepita pesto that takes it to the next level for us. Slow Roasted Pork Shoulder This one isn’t our favorite. The pork tends to be a tad dry and the red chili hot sauce doesn’t add much kick. Organic Street Corn No more 3-in-1 popcorn tins for Christmas please. Just this. And all of the chipotle cream." - Brant Cox

I stopped here for lunch with my husband, and we will definitely be back. The service was fast and friendly. The food was fresh and delicious. The drinks were exceptional. I have zero complaints. We also bought a zero alcohol bottle of tequila to go. This is a really great place for awesome casual dining. Can't wait to go back.

Great service & atmosphere. Tacos were good I ordered 7. Just needs a little more of mexican style street Tacos. Like double corn tortillas, lots of cilantro, & white onions. Carnitas need a little more spicy. Jamaica was great tasting. Salsa was different but delicious. $10 parking was ok. I drove 3 1/2 hours to try after visiting my friends at Wildcard Boxing Gym. Trejo’s Cantina in Hollywood is a must-visit for anyone craving flavorful Mexican food in a lively, welcoming setting. The menu is packed with standout options, from the steak asada and carnitas tacos to vegan-friendly jackfruit and cauliflower tacos. The nachos are frequently called some of the best in LA, and the margaritas—especially the flights—are a hit with regulars and newcomers alike. The vibe is casual and fun, with friendly staff who are happy to make recommendations. The décor features cool artwork, and there’s a great selection of branded merch if you’re a Danny Trejo fan. Service is generally quick, though it can get busy and occasionally understaffed during peak hours. The patio is dog-friendly, making it a great spot for groups and families.

Service was great, food came out fast and was delicious. My fiance and I ordered different types of burritos and tacos, so we could try each other's food. Everything was sooo good and the picante sauce made it even better.

Decided to finally try this place. I have to say it didn’t disappoint. All the employees were great and always checking on you. They offered suggestions on the menu and answered all questions that we had. The employees all did a great job. We just happened to go on taco Tuesday without realizing it. They had great deals for taco Tuesday. We each had 3 tacos and shared a nachos between the two of us and we were full. Both the tacos and nachos were a great quality and the flavors are very tasty. The decor and atmosphere suited the place and lots to look at. The bathrooms were clean and had great pictures of Danny from his iconic roles he has had. All in all I will definitely eat here again.

I 💘 Trejo." Disappointed "Was B-day came all the way from Abuquerque NM. There was gentlemen with the ponytail that was doing everything. We had to wait to be seated. He was also server and I guess he was in the back where the food was made too. Toke a long time to get drinks & then didn't have mix drink or beer so we ask what do you have then? 🍹 didn't taste good at all. I order sweet tea but no sugar ask for Sugar. Food was another 40 minutes. Once the food got there . The food tasted like it was reheated again the cheese was stuck on the nachos, the quesadillas were just dry and the carne asada was so dark they look like the black beans . The gentleman with the ponytail which was our seater / server / cook was taking shots & drinking with two other people on bar so he was more helpful to them bring food & talking . Still no sugar for my tea . It was a "disappointing" meal we wont regular so I guess we weren't getting the same amount of service is the others. 😥It was not worse $218.20

I first was worried if I had just ended up picking this restaurant solely for the name, but from the first bite, I knew I was in good hands. I sampled 6 different tacos there, and while the carnitas & chicken tacos were delicious but familiar, you know which one really blew me away? The young jackfruit taco. Doesn't even make any sense to me when I say it out loud, but biting in, it faked me out, feeling like some of the most tender protein you could ask for. Also, the beers were good, but note the margarita in the second picture. I ended up finishing it, but seriously, a little more, the bartender would have had to hold my hand to escort me out. Speaking of the bartender, Jamie, man, that girl really held down the bar. I've done basic bartending before, and I would have been screaming if I had been in her shoes, just with how busy it was. But she kept pushing through, despite how busy it was. Awesome job from her, and awesome job from the chefs. Thanks, guys!

Food was ok, I expected it to better. The prices were high and the portions were not great. Hoped for a better time but was meh!!

Yelp
Stopped off for a quiet bite... Mainly for a cocktails but food sounded good as well. We sat at the bar which was nice. Service was great, menu consisted of if your many selection of tacos, burritos and so on. Drink menu did have a wide array of cocktails to choose from. They also have a full bar so I'm sure they could make whatever you crave. Started off with some guacamole salsa and chips. Didn't take long to come out. Salsa was quite nice. Entrees, the smoked blackened salmon bowl, rice beans salsa slaw corn and guacamole. And the two taco meal. Food was good and fast. Pretty cool place for a quick meal a cocktail.

Yelp
I stopped by for some tacos on my way to an event around the corner. I was wondering if the Trejo name carries a reputation. It didn't. I think some street tacos would have been just as good. No complaints. Service was cool. Not much to add. Just some basic tacos. They had other stuff on the menu and I think they also serve booze. If that's what you're into. As for me, pass. Now I know. But check them out for yourself. You might like them.

Yelp
We have been wanting to go here for a while to support Mr. Trejo and his business endeavor. When we arrived we parked we were promptly greeted and seated. The place was very clean, orderly and inviting and we got excited to try the food. When our waitress arrived we were already ready with our order, drinks and food. Not too long after my date was served her beverage and then we were served our food. I continued to wait for my drink order and tried to signal our server. Finally, some time after being served food I was brought my drink. We tried a few different tacos but found some to be cold. The carnitas taco with pineapple (yes I said pineapple) and the chips and salsa were great. I wanted to buy a bottle of the salsa but our waitress never returned after brining my late drink. I had to ask the host for my check. He then got busy serving tables and forgot to pick up the check. Probably won't return to this location but I would be interested in trying another.

Yelp
Came here only because it was across the street from the "Museum of Death". We went in & i loved the color and decor of the place. I ordered the chicken tinga bowl and the rest of my friends ordered tacos. The food was alright, nothing mouth watering. I was expecting more but felt let down. They did have really good chips and salsa i give them that. I felt the food lacked flavor even though my bowl was filling i was not satisfied. The water cups we ordered were also disappointing. We wanted to order drinks from happy hour menu but the vibe was just off. We didn't feel as though we were important to the staff. They just stopped coming around after we got our food. I was a little grossed out after my husband pointed out that the containers where the utensils are kept are not clean. I had just used a fork from there. I will add photo

Yelp
Again California prices but you will not go wrong with the Carnitas tacos, the baja fish and steak. Even the Chicken nuggets with tots were excellent. You may even get lucky and meet the man himself..."MACHETE".

Yelp
So if you are like us and enjoy every movie Danny Trejo has ever starred in... why not try his eponymous restaurant "Trejo's Cantina"? It is located just one block off Hollywood blvd. We stopped in for a bite today and enjoyed the jackfruit enchiladas and the blackened salmon tacos. They are served with very flavorful rice and beans. This is a vegan friendly place. Callie was our server and she is delightful! Super friendly, helpful and cheerful. Callie is knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations. She made our lunch special. I am very fond of those salmon tacos. The sauce is savory and excellent. Trejo's has a great vegan menu too. Try the jackfruit enchiladas, we did and they were delicious. I love Trejo's hot sauce and brought home a bottle to enjoy from their merch collection. Park in the lot right out front. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Drinks were great! Food was very tasty! Staff super nice. Food was a little cold but it was still very tasty

Yelp
I love Trejo's Cantina! Both the food and drinks here are so goooood! You can't go wrong with one of the margaritas but they also have a variety of well made and strong drinks. Plus a beer menu, too! Seating is at the bar or booths. There's usually only one or two waiters running around, but service is pretty quick. If you're a fan of Danny Trejo, you'll def love all the merch for sale. One of my friends from out of town bought a shirt and she loved the novelty of all the branded stuff they have. On this last visit, I had a frozen strawberry margarita, which was absolutely delightful. It also kept me from drinking too much because the slush was so thick it took me a while to drink it all, lol! I also had the Spicy Shrimp Bowl. It was smaller than I expected, but actually ended up being plenty of food. The shrimp was really good, but I added a bit more hot sauce because I like it spicier. My husband got the Spicy Shrimp Burrito and fried chicken taco. He saw that there were a bunch of fried chicken items so wanted to try it. It was a good choice. The batter tasted so good and the chicken was cooked perfectly. Really tender. Everything was delicious and we left very satisfied! Oh and avoid the parking lot. It's usually valet and just very limited in general. There's plenty of street parking around.

Yelp
Recently, after an event wrapped up nearby, my friends and I decided to check out this spot we'd been hearing buzz about. It's this cool place that's all about dishing up both vegan and non-vegan Mexican cuisine, and yes, you heard it right - a Mexican food haven without lard in sight. Walking in, the place struck us as a sort of culinary art museum dedicated to Mexican culture, with stunning art pieces adorning the walls. It set the vibe for what was to come. We dove into a feast starting with empanadas, moved on to vegan horchata churros, and didn't skip the chips and salsa. Oh, and the drinks! We indulged in an assortment of alcoholic beverages that were not only delicious but packed a punch with just the right amount of liquor - exactly how a great drink should be. Each dish was a flavor explosion, making it clear that this wasn't your average meal; it was a culinary adventure. The service matched the quality of our meal. Our waiter was a gem - super helpful, answering all our queries with a smile, and keeping our glasses full without missing a beat. And let me tell you, everything we tried was spot-on. I mean, when you can't find a single thing to nitpick about, that's when you know you've struck foodie gold. Whether you're all in for the vegan options or here for the traditional picks, just make sure to try what we had; you can thank me later. We've already made a pact to come back the next time we're in the area. If you're looking for a place where the food is bursting with authentic flavors and the drinks are generously spirited, this is your spot

Yelp
The best margarita I have ever had, and probably the best Mexican food I have ever eaten. Had the tacos enchiladas/ and a burrito. We are from Socal, need one near us. Can't recommend it enough. Prices aren't bad either.

Yelp
When in hollywood~ you go to a restaurant owned by a celebrity that has overpriced food for very small portions! The ambiance here is actually quite cute - not upscale and not beat up. It's like a place I'd hang out w friends before catching a movie but not a place I'd be spending my evening at nor would this be a date spot. It's just chill to pass the time. The happy hour was from 3-5pm when I went on a weekday. It's pretty tight of a window. O_O The parking wasn't too bad since there's street parking. The lot in front of the restaurant is valet and the sign said $15 so that's a hard pass. The food seems fair in price but when it comes out, it is tinyyyyyyy! For 3 people, we each got 1 dish each, 4 alcoholic beverages total, and a side of guacamole, and our bill came out to about $150 (and that's not including tip). Bc of the small portions, we had to eat again after. But~ if you're looking for a causal hangout spot w small bites to pass the time while in Hollywood, why not?

Yelp
Like walking into a party bartender was really cool and greeted me places epic scenic, and immediately we made like friends. I was greeted with the menu, a smile and I was ready to rock 'n' roll, but I had to order the steak out a pole with regular rice I continue to enjoy the music and take everything in this place is a lot of fun but you wanna enjoy yourself even without the alcohol. This is the place you're gonna come to I love it. I can tell the people that work here really enjoy it and everybody's having a great time!! Gonna tell you right now the steak bowl is amazing. I added some of the Trejo hot sauce and I threw on some sour cream and I know a lot of people would be asking why would you eat something up just to cool it down? Well, I'm a complicated person but when it comes to simply enjoying great food I picked the right place today. I can't believe how much fun I'm having Jeremy the bartender is great. The rest of the staff is a lot of fun too... The food won't be the only reason you'll be coming here!!!

Yelp
I ordered a 2 taco plate which comes with rice and beans BUTTT I don't like beans so double up the rice. The food is okay. It is fairly priced. I ordered a steak asada Taco and the blackened salmon taco. The salmon didn't have much seasoning. Definitely blend. But the steak Asada was flavorful. The inside is really nice, vibrant great artwork and they have a patio area. You are overlooking Cahuenga and Selma. The parking lot is ONLY valet BUT If you go to the right of the building, there's a parking lot that you can pay $14 OR you can luck out with street parking. I just didn't care for my server very much. He wasn't that friendly so that was a bummer.

Yelp
1st time coming here. The restaurant was clean the employee were nice. The food was no good no flavor at all..

Yelp
Grilled corn, carne asada tacos, and chile relleno stand out. Craft cocktails and extensive tequila selection. Vibrant atmosphere, attentive staff. Prices slightly higher, but quality justifies.

Yelp
We came for DineLA and had a very good time. The food wasn't amazing but this is a fun place with delicious (and strong) drinks, friendly service and food that is good enough for a Margarita meetup. And their DineLA deal has to be one of the absolute BEST in the city, so if you see them offering it next time, go get it. So, you got to choose from a large plate, pick a flight of three Margarita's and a dessert. For only $35 per person! We tried all of the Margarita flavors and then went back for more. You'll likely have a new favorite every other drink like we did. Such fun! For the large plate, I chose the enchiladas and asked for cheese only, a change that was graciously made. My friend had the Carnitas plate. Both of our meals were good as was the cheesecake that followed. But what we really enjoyed was the fun atmosphere and service - not to mention those mini margaritas and their larger versions as well. I recommend adding this to your list of places to go when having a casual fun time is the mail goal. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
If you are a fan you are excited to walk in to this place. We were thinking of buying a shirt maybe a bottle something cool to remember the place. After we saw the menu it was a bit overpriced but is ok it's Hollywood we can look past that. We ordered tacos de barbacoa and the chicken bowl. You can see by the pictures the small portion. You need to have at least authentic rice. We were so disappointed with the flavor. We ended up talking about so many ideas that can help the place and how it has potential it just needs the real food. Is a pretty place but the food needs a lot of help.
google avatar

Eydie R.

Yelp
The food and drinks are good, the service was great, and we loved the vibe it has. Tip: Pay attention to what you're ordering when it comes to the Margarita's.

Yelp
My GF and I popped in here Friday afternoon for a couple drinks & to kill some time. It was a pretty cool experience. The inside was really nice, the normal seating areas looked comfortable & stylish. We sat at the bar area since we knew we were only getting drinks. She got a beer, I'm really not sure which one. And I got the margarita flight. All of our drinks were amazing and so was the service. Next time we're in the area, we for sure have to eat at Trejo's!

Yelp
I was working local on a movie shoot, no food for the prep day. Looked up local cuisine and found this place. Reviews were very good. O went online and ordered 3 carnitas tacos. 39 minutes later my order was ready. I walked over and picked up within the promised time. The tacos were delicious and the pork meat tender and flavorful. Included some limes, radishes and some salsa. I was a happy camper. Because I was working I didn't try any alcohol drinks, however, definitely will have to come back on a non work day to try some.

Yelp
Ok they get the 4 stars for me Off the jump, the only reason that they get the 4 star is because I got to try more food and the prices haha Ok so let's start with the service They got 5 stars in that for me The help was quick and efficient They explained the menu, the waiter/bartender offered a meal with my tacos He explained a margarita I had a question about Now the food was pretty good, but I've only had the tacos. I have to try more But the shrimp taco was an 8 out of 10 and the fish taco was a 10/10 for sure. The taquitos were 6. They were cooked well and the flavor was solid. But I think it was advertised with avacado but it was this avacado sauce drizzle and not avacado Thier chips and salsa were absolute perfect I'll be greedy and say I want more avacado, but it was super tasty The margarita was perfect. I got the OG and it made me feel something special haha The ambiance was super cool. I'd love to come here in the evening for drinks and tacos. So I'll be back soon and update this place but for now it's almost perfect The prices suck everywhere in my opinion So this place being in Hollywood is the same. I paid $19 for a margarita at 2pm on a Wednesday Some people would call em stupid for that haha But it was a vibe I just know how sustainable it is Those are my thoughts for now And they checked in o

Yelp
Being in Hollywood around lunchtime gave me the idea to try out Trejos. As a couple ordered tacos, a burrito and nachos. Wasn't that big a fan of the flavoring on the taco nor the burrito which had an aftertaste from the pico de gallo which I despise. But their nachos is really something else. Highly recommend coming here and ordering the steak nachos. Definitely will be back.

Yelp
We went on Tuesday for the street taco deal! I got two steak asada street tacos and it was pretty good, a bit too wet and it made the plate and my fingers a mess though. The hot sauce they had on the table was not that spicy but still had good flavor in it. Our server was very nice and friendly to us! A bit pricey for the size and for the regular tacos on the menu, to be honest. But still a fun place to go to if you're a fan! Ok

Yelp
We love everything. I'm posting pictures from two dates. Loved both. Once with a friend and then with my gf. We parked at a metered spot on the street one block over. We arrived both times on a weekday early evening, were seated immediately and food came pretty quickly. The strawberry margarita tasted amazing and definitely left me with a fun buzz. My partner is GF and doesn't eat refined sugar so the Horchata and monk fruit taco and loved them. I had the chicken taco which was ok enough, but had the salmon the next go round and changed the shell to lettuce which was yummy. The dips require their own paragraph of description. I don't do guacamole but I hear it was amazing. There were bits of pistachio which is apparently awesome. I was obsessed with the refried beans salsa and the corn salsa and I combined them in one bite which was heavenly. Honestly we didn't even need the tacos cuz they were so delicious and filling but alas, we stuffed it all in because, why not. Overall we had an amazing time both times and will definitely go back.

Yelp
The restaurant is very clean and open. The food is tasty. If you're looking for spicy, bring your own salsas. They provide nice portions of meats in their meals.

Yelp
The review la don't do this place justice. Beer selection is awesome. Food is amazing. I had the carnitas burrito. One of the best I have ever had. Flavors just pop and the size will fill you up.

Yelp
Trejos tacos is in the main area of Hollywood with a lot of restaurants and bars. However seems like there are better options. The service was slow even though it wasn't busy. The food was average all around from salad, tacos and burritos. Everything was just average from top to bottom.
google avatar

Jenny L.

Yelp
Delicious and you can order everything a la carte! I loved the street tacos and the SALSA and the warm chips. Everything is Danny's granny's recipes and she is smiling from heaven. Any chance I get also on top of it to support this beautiful man I would.

Hasselbak N.

Yelp
This was an all out excellent experience. The place was bright but not too bright and the music wasn't too loud. The food was fast and hot. Our server Kristopher S was thorough and incredibly attentive with our feeling pushy. We had the nachos w/guac which were fantastic. My wife and I both got the taco combo which was just the right size after the nachos. We had Palomas that were great and I don't even like Tequila. My wife got the cheese cake that had some kind of cinnamon topping that was incredible. 100% recommend. We will be back next time we are in Noho.

Yelp
A friend really wanted to eat here while we vacationed in L.A. I like tacos and agreed. I was a bit unsure on walking up because the place is LOUD. Sensory overload loud. But, went in and gave it a chance. We happened to be there on a Tuesday and it was Taco Tuesday so we ordered tacos. They were very good. We had a side order of rice and black beans. Both were excellent. I had the OJ margarita and it was perfect. We inhaled the food it was so good. If you can stand a little loud noise it is a great spot to visit. They even have vegetarian/vegan options.

Yelp
This place is awesome! We had the nachos with guacamole and they were delicious. The margaritas are wonderful and you definitely get a fair amount of alcohol in them. My daughter also had the Oreo cheesecake which she really liked.
google avatar

Josue Z.

Yelp
Trejo's Cantina disappointed with its lackluster tacos. The shrimp and salmon tacos tasted bland, with the seafood clearly not fresh but store-bought and frozen. The small 42-inch TVs were mounted too high on the ceiling, making viewing uncomfortable. While the nachos were decent and the service satisfactory, the drinks were just average. Overall, the experience felt overpriced for the quality offered.
google avatar

Linda V.

Yelp
Last minute decision to come here as it looked inviting and gave the atmosphere of where we wanted to be and the kind of food we wanted to eat at the moment. Drinks were strong no doubt about it so no complaints there. The chips with pineapple salsa very refreshing, acidic and tasty also loved the the lime zest they sprinkled on the chips. The tacos unfortunately were disappointing, the salmon was extremely dry and overcooked with no real flavor and the shrimp I would have to say the same, rubbery and lacked in seasoning and both tortillas seemed like they had sat out too long and wasn't fresh at all. Now the most memorable thing here was the hot sauce ! That hot sauce I had forgot to ask if they sell them, but wow did it have the such wonderful fresh flavor to it. I had added it to every dish we got and was probably the only thing that made everything just about better. Nothing memorable but for drinks and apps a great place to come.

Yelp
Great food! The salsa is tasty and the guacamole is awesome! The burrito was huge and filled with rice and beans

Yelp
We took our order to go as we were headed to the beach. From what I saw of the restaurant is was gorgeous and the staff were extremely polite and quick on their feet. We purchased the Chicken Tinga Burrito, Spicy Shrimp Burrito, a strawberry lemon Agua Fresca, and the date sweetened horchata. Would definitely go again! 5/5

Yelp
Great spot for American Mexican fusion, large groups, and specialty cocktails. Menu features standard Mexican fare, tacos, burritos, etc. The tacos use flour tortillas, so if you're gluten free keep that in mind! We went for a work gathering with 20 of us at lunch and had the place to ourselves but it gets busy at night. The guac was amazing, with pistachios and jalapeños. Decor is funky and avant-guarde Ratings: Ambiance: 7/10 Ease of seating/ speed of service: 10/10 Vegan options: 6/10 Gluten free options: 5/10 Low carb options: 6/10 Overall deliciousness: 7/10 Pricing: $$ Parking: not much, allow 10 min fro street parking. There's a lot that's almost always full in front of the restaurant Liquor License: yes

Yelp
Went to Trejos Cantina for a girls date before going to a concert at Hotel Cafe. The establishment was nice and clean. We order tacos, enchiladas, chips and salsa, margaritas. The food was not anything to rave about. The drinks were yummy and strong, and reasonably priced. But the customer service was great. Our server was attentive and provided good recommendations.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of Danny Trejo so I always told myself that if I ever came down to L.A. that I would eat at one of his restaurants. I also told myself that I should order items that are not available at just about any other taco place so I got the jack fruit taco, and the blackened salmon taco, and street corn on the side just because I love it. The jack fruit taco was amazing and so full of flavor. It made me sad that we don't have this restaurant near where I live. The salmon and corn were both good to, and the hot sauce they have at the table was yummy too. Wish they sold it to go. Besides the food, we ordered some strawberry margaritas which were good, but way too much for me to drink. The host and servers were really nice and I would go back again just for that.

Yelp
Let's start with the service, we arrive with a small 30 minute window to get in and get out in our server was more than accommodating and went Above and beyond. We ordered two taco combos, we both decided on the fish and fried chicken tacos. The first thing I have to say about this place is that none of the sauces or hot sauces are actually hot. They're mostly sweet with a little bit of hot so be wary of that if you like spicy stuff. The fish taco was a little bit small and I felt like the garnishes they added were lacking. The flavor of the fish was good though. The fried chicken itself was really good but it came with some sort of cream which turned the flavor kind of bland. I could've use something else to try to spice it up or make it a little bit more savory.

Yelp
My wife and I were badly in need of some sustenance after hiking to the Griffith Observatory. Luckily Trejo's Cantina was nearby and they had seating for us and our dog. They had a great draft list that included local beers and ciders so we started off with a drink. For entrees, I chose the fried chicken bowl and my wife went with the asada burrito. The fried chicken bowl was one of 'Danny's favorites' and it delivered. The flavors of each ingredient was distinct and I used some Trejo's hot sauce which paired well. My wife's burrito was also delicious and was pack full of filling. Service was good and the atmosphere was laidback. A great spot to check out if you're in LA and are a fan of Trejo's work. There is some cool merch that you buy and aside from that, the food is solid and staff is friendly.

Yelp
I had eaten at Trejo's Cantina a couple of times when it first opened, and thought it was pretty solid, if a bit overpriced- I would have probably rated it about 4 stars back then. I stopped in last night because we needed a quick dinner in the Hollywood area. We started an order of the chips with pineapple salsa. It felt like the bottom of the bag of chips, with a portion of them being small pieces, and the cup of salsa was only about half full. Our group ordered 6 tacos and the chicken enchiladas for the main meal. My partner got an asada, a barbacoa, and a fish taco, and I ordered 2 fish tacos and the cauliflower. The asada and barbacoa were pretty flavorless. I thought the fish tacos smelled low quality when they were brought out to the table, and ended up only eating one of mine because they were soft and lacked seasoning. The tortillas the tacos were on didn't seem to be warm, and felt almost straight out of a bag. I like the idea of the inca corn in the cauliflower tacos, but the pieces were so small and hard that it felt more like partially popped pop corn kernels, along with the cauliflower itself not being great. Disappointing, because I remember getting their cauliflower taco previously and really enjoying it! My partner's daughter said the rice was dry on her enchilada platter, and didn't eat it or the beans. Maybe it was an off night, but we won't consider stopping back here again, which is a shame.

Yelp
Worst service I've ever had. Waitress didn't acknowledge us for 20 minutes. Then wouldn't stick around for order. Don't recommend this location at all. Watched 3 other people walk out for the same reason. Was not even busy. 0/10.

Yelp
Took some friends here tonight who I haven't seen for awhile. They had never been here; but had heard about it! So, I was definitely excited for them to experience it. Trejos Tacos is a contemporary taqueria, and a staple of LA. There are multiple locations, but the Hollywood location is definitely one of my favorites to go to. Trejos Tacos also has fabulous artwork in all of its locations. It's not over done, but simplistic and vivid. The service is always great here. Our server tonight was friendly and attentive. She definitely understands great customer service and with a smile. Nothing to critique tonight. We started off with just chips and salsa. The salsa is so flavorful and the chips well let's just say the hint of lime zest makes them truly special. I had the Shrimp Diabla Plate. It's shrimp over rice with salad and tortillas. The flavors are amazing. The rice is smashing. Truly special. Sure you can say it's Mexican rice, but it's truly more. My friends had the Steak Asada Burrito and Steak Asada Nachos. For drinks two of us had an Arnold Palmer, but not traditional. It was made with their homemade strawberry lemonade. It's not on the menu, but definitely great enough to be. If you like liquor this would be a great combo! My other friend had just the strawberry lemonade and seriously it's just popping with flavor. My other friend had the horchata. All of them just fabulously refreshing! I gave a five star because Trejos Tacos is truly special. Great customer service, fabulous artwork, positive vibes, and heart! Btw Trejos also has an album that I found out about when I was posting on my Instagram it's called Trejos Soul...definitely a vibe!

Yelp
MESSAGE TO THE AMAZING AND INCREDIBLE DANNY TREJO We have loved you since Desperado in '95 and everything after. We love your tacos and your donuts. But you should know that, upon ordering through Postmates, we called to make sure the order was correct (it hasn't been multiple times). First call - nobody picks up. Second call - no pick up. Third call - nothing. Then we got a notification from Postmates saying that the restaurant canceled our order. It is still open and accepting orders. That's how whoever you've hired chooses to respond to a follow-up call. Occurred on 6/8 at around 7 PM. You might want to look into it, because what's holding your Yelp score back from a 4 or 5 isn't the food, it's whoever you have on duty at this store.

Yelp
Every time I come to this place , I order the chicken burrito. It's so good. Their Margarita flight is bitter , but if your the kind of person that wants to feel a buzz for an affordable price of $18 then why not ? Service was fast & the ambiance is cute. IG: Briannascravings

Yelp
The four stars are for the service which was great and the atmosphere. Why else would Intake a picture in the bathroom, Stopped by on a whim and luckily found some street parking nearby. The parking lot was full on a weekday after noon despite the $15 charge. The food was good, not great, and the portions were smaller than expected. Tried the fried chicken, Barbacoa, and Asada tacos. They were all good but needed a bit more flavor. I did enjoy the lettuce wrap instead of a tortilla for the fried chicken taco. Tasted really fresh. My kids loved the horchata and my son ordered two orders of the chicken nugget meal since the portion was small. We also ordered the Chicken Tinga bowl which was delicious! That was the best of the entrees we ordered. The highlight of the meal were the churros! The order came with three pieces and they were crispy and delicious. Came with two dipping sauces, Mexican chocolate and a strawberry one. Both were decent but unnecessary. Don't sleep on the churros.
