Art-filled taqueria with meat, vegan & vegetarian specialties

"Like the first installation of his classic B movie franchise Machete, Danny Trejo's fast-casual restaurant has proven to be a massive success, and we understand why. Now with four locations across town, Trejo’s Tacos is a solid lunchtime option when you need something quick, tasty enough, and/or vegan-friendly in under 30 minutes. You can choose between tacos with charred mushroom "asada," shredded jackfruit, or some pretty underwhelming chicken tinga, but we much prefer the juicy barbacoa topped with fried tortilla strips for extra crunch. The asada taco is also a little too salty for our liking but comes with a tangy pepita pesto that sets it off like an explosion in a Robert Rodriquez film." - sylvio martins, brant cox, garrett snyder
"Open daily from 12-8pm, the popular taco chain is now offering curbside pick-up and delivery from their La Brea, Hollywood, and West LA locations. You can order any of their tacos, quesadillas, and bowls a la carte, but if you’re looking to stock-up for the week and not worry about it, there’s always the Fiesta Box - 20 half-sized burritos of your choosing, plus family-size chips and dip for $140. Keep an eye on their Instagram for the latest details." - brant cox
"There are a few Trejo’s Tacos around LA, but the original on La Brea is still our favorite. Trejo’s is a little more expensive than most taquerias (you’re paying for the star power, clearly), except on Tuesdays. They’re all solid, and there are also plenty of options for people who aren’t eating meat this week. Head here for a long lunch on the patio. The deal: Discounted tacos, margaritas, beer, and wine, all day." - amy clark, kat hong
"If you don’t know Trejo’s Tacos by now, you will shortly because they’re basically opening in every neighborhood in the city. But down on S. La Brea, the original location (inside an old car mechanic shop) is still going strong and serving some very solid tacos. The Jidori fried chicken (served in lettuce wraps) and the steak asada are definitely our favorites, but don’t skip over the other sections of the menu either. Their guacamole, the street corn, and spicy shrimp burrito are all worth ordering too. When the temperatures start climbing, the date horchata is the real power move." - brant cox
"I found that starting April 7 (through April 30) Trejo’s Tacos locations in Hollywood, La Brea, and Santa Monica will sell Hotville Chicken’s hot chicken as a taco, burrito, or bowl as part of an all‑month collaboration." - Farley Elliott
