11 New Black-Owned Restaurants In Seattle

"We first fell in love with Tres' ever since our first bite of Tres’ Caliente, a stunning sub filled with shaved beef, pepper jack cheese, jalapeño, a shake of spicy seasonings, and chipotle mayo. This cheesesteak operation is set up at Lamplighter Public House every day of the week, except Wednesday, from 3-9pm (3-8pm on Sundays). In addition to these Philly-style sandwiches, you can get burgers and fried appetizers like onion rings and mozzarella sticks." - aimee rizzo

Tres' House Of Cheesesteaks - Review - Greenwood - Seattle - The Infatuation

"We first fell in love with Tres' ever since our first bite of Tres’ Caliente, a stunning sub filled with shaved beef, pepper jack cheese, jalapeño, a shake of spicy seasonings, and chipotle mayo. The original and chicken versions are excellent, too. In addition to these Philly-style sandwiches, you can get burgers and fried appetizers like onion rings and mozzarella sticks, but our advice? Skip all of those and stick to the cheesesteaks—its the namesake for a reason." - Aimee Rizzo

Google
Great place to get cheesesteaks in North Seattle. Take out only and so we brought it back home to eat. Lots of meat loaded in the buns. I did wish there was slightly more cheese, but overall I highly recommend and would come.

Google
This was a delicious cheese steak and cheese fries too! 🫠 First, if you are having trouble finding this place, you could be a muggle. Look for a take out window/door behind the Lamplighter Tavern kitchen in the lot. Back to the sandwiches, the bread roll was crispy and years when you bite into it. There was plenty of steak and busting with flavor and there was the right amount of cheese. All around good experience and I’ll be back!

Google
Tres House of Cheesesteaks is hands down the BEST Philly to ever bless my life! I got the "Tres Caliente" and that shit was like a religious experience. Seasoned to perfection, generous portions and was worth every penny. Was in the area and craving a Philly. Tres did not disappoint. This set the bar of expectations for Phillys now.

Google
Craving a Philly cheesesteak, I was disappointed when my usual spot was closed. Determined to satisfy my hunger, I embarked on a little journey, even enlisting the help of locals to locate the place. As a recovered alcoholic, I was initially skeptical about finding quality food at a bar, but Treshouseofcheessteak pleasantly surprised me. Despite the bustling crowd at the bar, my food arrived quickly, and the portion sizes were perfect. I opted for the chop cheese sandwich, and it exceeded my expectations—I would definitely order from here again

Google
I've been craving a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich for a few days now. Watching reels on Youtube and IG really motivated me to search around for a Real Authentic Philly Cheese. Tre's Philly Cheesesteak did not disappoint! I've visited Pat's and Geno's in PA and I can vouch Tre's is better! My brother ordered the Pepper Cheese Steak and I ordered the Caliente. We traded half for half. Both sandwiches were great! The quality of veggies, meat, cheese and hoagie was 10/10. We'll be back for sure! Thank you THOC! Best Regards, Rich Nguyen

Google
Was in the area on business and wanted to eat something different. Looked up cheesesteaks in Seattle and Tres popped up. Dropped in to grab a Philly and to my surprise, the sandwich was BOMB... Everything was cooked perfectly and the bread is super soft, but didn't get soggy. The TOTS, cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. We'll most certainly be stopping by next time I'm on the Northend.

Google
Philly was good just needed more cheese. Chop cheese was good that needed more cheese too and to be chopped up more the meat was too chunky. Overall great flavors i also would have melted the cheese more. Would I try again sure

Hadias Art

Google
Best cheesesteaks ever! You gotta try them all. Money we'll spent! Only disappointment is it so much food and so good you won't be able to stop until it's gone and you are stuffed!!

Yelp
Note: New location starting 10/1/24 at Lamplighter Public House, 820 NW 85th Street, Seattle WA 98117. Website & phone number remains the same. I've had Philly cheesesteaks while in Philadelphia. Locally, I've tried Tat's (Pioneer Square) and Calozzi's (Georgetown), so I've been curious about Tres' House of Cheesesteaks (THOC). I decided to check this out and headed over to Lamplighter Public House, current THOC site. However, I had issues in the parking lot trying to order online. I went inside the pub to place my takeout order directly instead. Traffic and having to run another errand afterwards rendered the freshly made pair of Classic Phillys kind of soggy due to the condensation. Pro Tip: Eat onsite or shortly after picking up takeout. Generous, well prepared cheesesteaks. Meaty, flavorful, cheesy. Easily shareable since I could only finish a third. However, The Homie devoured his entire Classic Philly.

Yelp
Please listen to me when I say this!?? Tres HOC is the absolute best cheese steak and chopped cheese I've had in Seattle!!! I do not use these words lightly. I have had the privilege to try some of the originals like Geno's, Pat's, Ishkabibbles, and Chickie and Pete's in Philadelphia and I will say that two of those are very gimmicky and overrated in my opinion but two of them are exactly how a cheesesteak should taste! It is all about the flavor and the bread! Tres has it absolutely right! The seasoning of the meat and gooey-ness of the cheese work perfectly with the chew of the bread!!! This spot is located in a bar but the half of the bar that seats guests for dining allow children to enter! I would highly advise you to also pack your patience cause Tres has a very small kitchen and the word is spreading so you can expect to enjoy the company of your table when they get busy! The sandwhiches here are absolutely wonderful and we stop in every chance we get! If you've never had a chopped cheese then I definitely recommend you order yourself one! It's like a chopped up burger on a wonderful crusty and chewy hoagie roll! It's amazing and a NY bodega staple!

Yelp
We had an incredible first visit to Tre's House of Cheesesteaks at The Lamplighter! We both tried the Original Philly cheesesteak with added mushrooms, and it was absolutely delicious--tender beef, perfectly melted cheese, and just the right amount of caramelized onions. There was zero grease, unlike what we've sadly experienced at other cheesesteak joints in Seattle; each bite was a complex explosion of pure cheesesteak flavor! The onion rings (ORings) were another highlight--crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and paired with delicious ranch. They perfectly complemented our cheesesteaks. You could really taste the quality and freshness in every bite. The cozy, laid-back vibe of The Lamplighter and friendly service made it the perfect spot to enjoy lunch. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Had our kids with us so we got food to go. Incredibly delicious - meat was tender, bun was that right balance of soft inside crispy outside, and cheese was hot, gooey and good. It's a great Philly Cheesesteak and glad it's in the Northend by us.

Yelp
Seattle cheesesteak fans? Get in here immediately! Trey's Philly cheesesteaks are a slice of Philadelphia Freedom, right here in the 206. Flavor for days, and the Lamplighter is a perfect home for Tre's perfection.

Justin L.

Yelp
This is the best cheese steak I've ever had. Just a great sandwich. Don't sleep on it!

Yelp
The food came out fresh as hell, and hot. Loved the presentation, and the flavors. It reminded me of Philly's Best on 23rd back in the day. But, better as far as the Cheesesteaks go. We decided to order a couple apps to balance the sandwiches coming too. For our first time, it was delicious, and easy to eat while having a beer or two in Lamplighter's pub. We plan to go back very soon.

Yelp
When you see a humble beginning and a small business starting out sharing a kitchen with a Local-Neighborhood-Bar, that had nothing to do with their identity, and now a new location with better hours. If you are hungry. One of this sandwich can easily feed Two hungry people!! I say go original if you want to play safe, but I like spices!!! Order online through google map, they will text you back when it is ready.

Yelp
Tried this after seeing it on another Yelp profile and I was in the neighborhood. Besides, I'm always looking for a good cheesesteak. We walked past it. Twice. Then realized it was in the same space as The Whits End. Ordered the Seattle Rain. It's supposed to have American cheese on it but I don't remember there being any. I asked for salt, but later found there was a packet in the cutlery package. What they gave me was something resembling chili powder. But it was salty. I don't know what it was but it was amazing on my sandwich. Smallish place with games up front and a billiards table in the back. But didn't have any trouble finding a place to sit down. I'll definitely go back.

Yelp
The Best Cheesesteaks in Seattle. I've had them delivered a couple times & so happy. So delicious But Grubhub Sucks and delivered my sandwich to someone else Sad when I was craving it so bad...

Yelp
Melt in your mouth Philly. Great balance of cheese, meat, & vegetable. Comes off the flat top flamin' hot. If you opt for the Tres. Caliente - be warned! The spicy seasoning puts the heat over the edge (in a great way).

Yelp
Saw this spot on instagram and came out to support. Walked in with a few friends along with their kids. We asked if kids were allowed since it is a bar. The guy who helped us was super nice and told us yes. As long as they are not at the actual bar. We placed our order using the QR code for Tre's. We ordered ... a regular cheesesteak with fries, the tres caliente cheesesteak and the bacon blue cheesesteak, two orders of onion rings, and order of loaded fries, and 5 drinks. It said it should be an hour and that was at 2:15pm....we received our food around 3pm. Our friend had to take theirs to go because they had to be somewhere by 4. I can say that the cheesesteaks are amazing! Our fries and onion rings were good. Nice and seasoned. I had to tap out on my cheesesteak, the reaper sauce was super hot!!!! On another note, I'm not mad at the prices for the cheesesteaks.. you pay for quality. I do however think it's a little crazy to pay $7 for fries and $11 for onion rings (6) to add to your food. I was also a little mislead for the drinks, they were shown as bottles in the website for upward of $3, however we received cans. So for $137 including tip, the food was worth it. The bar however was as cold as a walk in industrial freezer. We will most likely return if we are in the area and without the kids!!!

Yelp
Hot n cheesey goodness with a side of fries, perfect dinner on a muggy night. Fun conversation and service while I waited too. Traditional Philly Cheese Steak in Seattle

Yelp
Your food is Hella Hella bomb! I haven't had a cheesesteak and fries like that, since the cheesesteak place in the central District closed. RIP. You guys do some justice to a really good cheesesteak! Thank you!

Dot G.

Yelp
Tres is the man. Best cheese steaks in seattle!!! He is building an empire of tastiness -- do not miss out!
google avatar

Aimee G.

Yelp
I ordered the Pepper Philly Cheesesteak. It was so good and they gave a good amount of meat. The only thing is the neighborhood is hard to find a parking spot so leave some extra time.

yy l.

Yelp
There are no pics because we couldn't wait!! We ordered the Original Philly and the Tres Caliente. The Original had great flavor and the perfect amount of beef, cheese and onions. The Caliente is actually pretty spicy and delicious. The hoagie roll was pretty good too. The fries were seasoned and crisp. I can't wait to go back and try more items....well maybe not since the Original was so good. *We ordered onion rings but they were all out. He reimbursed us for that and gave us extra fries for the trouble. We even told him he didn't need to do that but he must have forgotten he was in Seattle and provided excellent customer service.

Rany T.

Yelp
It is difficult to spot the restaurant! Look inside the bar.. The Philly Cheese Steak was good but very salty for me and my friends! 7/10. Service was pretty efficient!
google avatar

Rhonda C.

Yelp
Service is excellent! I always get the original and it is HUGE, overflowing with meat. We split it and it is still a LOT! Tater tots, yes PLEASE! Love this place. Parking is hit or miss on the street.

Yelp
Found this place on doordash couple years back when craving a cheesesteak and was so good. Doordash no longer delivers all the way to edmonds but still make the drive once a week for best cheesesteak in town

Madeline E.

Yelp
THE best cheesesteak and I lived in New York. Nicest bar tenders in Seattle this place is absolutely underrated. Come in for a good time and karaoke

Dj F.

Yelp
A complete waste of time was there during working hours nobody was in the kitchen. The bartender told me he's not sure what's going on, but there's nobody in the kitchen and they were supposed to be here over one hour ago I looked at my friend and said OK. I guess we'll have to come back another time. A few days later me and my friend both came back and as soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the bartender He had told us I'm sorry absolutely no debit cards or credit cards cash only for the food . A complete bummer but we thank God there's an ATM as soon as we said he told us that the ATM is broken ... So after being a cheesesteak lover, we had to go ATM and get cash As we did that, we ordered two cheesesteaks and 1 plan cheese burger The bartender who took the order told us to write everything down he normally has a tablet where you just push buttons, but the tablets are not working So after being unexperienced with writing down food odors, it literally took over three minutes to write down three items which should've only taken at minimum one minute Only to have the cook come in the front and say I cannot read his handwriting. Can you please repeat what you ordered At this point me and my friend was getting really frustrated because now it's been a total of eight minutes and we don't even Our food being cooked. So we had to repeat the whole order! Finally, the food came after an additional 20 minutes And everything was completely slop!!! Keep this in mind I'm from back east and spend over nine years in Philadelphia. This is nowhere near a Philly cheesesteak. The cheese whiz is literally a squeeze cold and they squeeze it on top of the sandwiches in the french fries only to make your sand even more colder and the cheese taste literally disgusting very cheap. The cheeseburger we ordered was supposed to be plain. It came with literally everything including ketchup, mustard, and pickle. I could see where people like that, but we literally said.Plain!!! So after all of that, we literally ask for a knife to cut the sandwiches and they said they don't have plastic knives. What kind of restaurant or food stand does not have plastic utensils or any kind of utensils at that!!! A complete waste of time I definitely recommend not to go Whoever likes this place does not understand what a real cheesesteak is no offense to Seattle natives but Seattle natives will literally eat anything and say it's good because a lot of people do not know real food. This is a complete disgust. Even the bartender said the owner is doing a sloppy job and not doing what needs to be done I hope the owner sees this, my man I'm sorry to tell you, but you're no East coaster and if you are, you should be ashamed of yourself

Kisty L.

Yelp
I love the chesse steak sandwich it's amazing an the customer service is the best he is a great guy
google avatar

Craig H.

Yelp
This is a temporary review. Got both a cheesesteak sandwich and the loaded fries via DoorDash. Sando was really good and I can't wait to try some of their other combinations. Had the Tres Calientes, and it was caliente but still very flavorful. The loaded fries were not great. Very much on the soggy side and I wasn't a fan of the cheese sauce. Fries were kinda bland.
google avatar

Simon H.

Yelp
Sooo good, simply the best, better than all the rest. It's my one birthday must have every year. Rock on you crazy cheesesteak making diamonds!
google avatar

Alexis N.

Yelp
Delicious cheesesteak, really friendly service! The ultimate comfort food. Next time I'll stay and have a beverage as the bartender seemed super nice but I had a few too many the night before.... Hence, the cheesesteak. Thank you for curing my hangover!
google avatar

Jesse L.

Yelp
I grew up in the northeast, where cheesesteak places were numerous. The key to a good cheesesteak are a quality roll, which should be a bit crusty but very soft and (most importantly) the steak is a shaved steak ( ribeye) which is chopped fine on a grill. This produces a excellent consistency when cheese is added. Add mushrooms, onions, and peppers and it tastes like my childhood. To my knowledge, this is the only cheesesteak like this in town. I will be getting takeout often.

Lachelle P.

Yelp
The Food was So Amazing Very Good The Service was Wonderful I will definitely return and buy everything on the menu.

Catherine K.

Yelp
Cheesesteak hit the spot! Meat was nice and thin, cheese was super melty. Ordered at the bar and out in less than 15 minutes.

Jennifer R.

Yelp
Just had a cheesesteak while checking out the Whit's End for the first time. The bar is great and the cheesesteaks are SO GOOD!!!! So many times we've ordered cheesesteaks in Seattle only to be disappointed. Our new "go to" place :-)...dog friendly too!

Jeremy C.

Yelp
I have eaten cheesesteaks all over Seattle. Tres cheesesteaks are the best I've had in this city (or anywhere else I've had them). There are many options from original to pizza, but my favorite is the Tres Caliente. Tres sandwiches are killer!!!
google avatar

Julie R.

Yelp
I am so in love with this place!!! I miss Philly so much and calozzi's was the only way I could get a legit cheesesteak before I found Tre's. It probably a bad thing because it's so close that I am ordering them a few times a week ‍ pro tip: ask for wiz!

Katherine M.

Yelp
Best cheesesteak i've had in seattle, but the proportions are huge. I'd absolutely pay a lower price for a smaller sandwich because I ended up leaving half of it unfinished. Wish there was a half size option. It's inside a local sports bar which is a chill place to hang out while you wait.
google avatar

James K.

Yelp
Amazing cheesesteaks. Yelp tells me I wrote too much or not enough. SMH Tres is the best in north Seattle.
google avatar

Emma A.

Yelp
Amazing! So good and gets better every time. Consistent deliciousness and seems like Tre is always adding new items to the menu (but we would keep coming back anyway).

Brenda Z.

Yelp
They are very good however when you wait over an hour above the 30 minutes they quoted you, nothing tastes that good.

Parnian V.

Yelp
Tres calientes, add mushrooms. Two things to be mindful of: this location's sign is on the building wall, and their automated system sends a text saying your food is ready right after ordering. Otherwise- I wasn't hungry enough to eat the whole thing but I did anyway cause it was good.

Don K.

Yelp
Was there yesterday and wasn't impressed. The food I had was microwaved and was very dry and tasteless. I expected onions peppers and other seasonings mixed in. I won't return.
google avatar

Jon M.

Yelp
Best cheesesteaks in town! Always delicious, always great (and accurate) service. 5 stars

Yelp
I tried them back when they first started on 15th ave nw and am so happy everyone else loves them as much as me. Glad that they were able to find a new kitchen to work from and super happy that it's even closer to where I live in Shoreline. Good size, great taste and wonderful Chef!
