Where to Find the Iconic Dishes of Minnesota | Eater Twin Cities

"Pho, of course, isn’t unique to Minnesota, but the Twin Cities’ Vietnamese community has made an indelible stamp on the state’s food culture, and relentlessly cold winters have made pho a defining dish. There’s a wealth of excellent spots to get pho around the metro, but one standout St. Paul option is Trieu Chau, where Minh Nguyen and family have been serving beefy, crystalline, richly layered pho for more than 30 years. (Trieu Chau is currently working on a few repairs to the restaurant, but keep an eye on Facebook for a reopening green light.)" - Joy Summers

Trieu Chau Review - Santa Ana - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Trieu Chau is a constantly busy Vietnamese/Cambodian restaurant. It doesn’t matter if you show up at 10am or 5pm, there will be people waiting outside and everyone’s here for the noodle soups. And in particular, their House Special Noodle. It’s a steaming bowl of duck, shrimp, fish balls, and wontons all floating in a clear, umami-filled broth that we think a lot about during terrible work meetings. You get your choice of rice or egg noodles, but you should definitely ask for a combination of both." - Brant Cox

The Best Pho and Vietnamese Restaurants in the Twin Cities | Eater Twin Cities

"Located on University Avenue — ground zero for pho spots in St. Paul — Minh Ngyuen’s restaurant Trieu Chau serves a pho broth that’s clear and slightly sweet, with strong notes of star anise. Rich, beefy, and layered, it may take the cake for the city’s finest bowl of pho." - Eater Staff

9 Best Vietnamese Restaurants in Minneapolis and Saint Paul | Eater Twin Cities

"This popular St. Paul restaurant consistently tops “best of…” lists for fans of pho across the Twin Cities--and it really is worth the wait. With their rich, layered, slow-simmered broth as the base for all their noodle soups, there’s no way to go wrong. For for something beyond pho, don’t miss their mi sate or hu tien sate: egg or rice noodles in a bright, searingly spicy broth laden with seafood and pork, served with extra chiles and pickled jalapenos on the side." - Julie Yu

Google
I ordered the egg rolls and spring rolls for lunch. Went to pick up my order around noon and the restaurant was packed. When I got there, there was no parking in the back. I had to park on the street. But in terms of service and food...service was great. Friendly gal at the cash register. Egg rolls was delicious!!! (Vietnamese egg rolls are the best, IMO.) Spring rolls, while was good, the sauce didn't do it for me. It was on the sweeter side and the taste of the hoison was subtle. Overall, I'd definitely be back to try more menu items.

Google
Today, we visited Trieu Chau Restaurant, and the food was amazing! We ordered the pho, and it was honestly one of the best I’ve ever had—the broth was incredibly flavorful, the noodles were perfectly cooked, and the beef was tender. We also tried the special fried rice and the spring rolls, which were fresh and crispy, paired with a delicious sauce. Everything looked great and tasted even better. Definitely recommend!

Google
Pho was ok but the broth was murky even though it looks clear. Taste was on the sweeter side with a lite hint of beef flavor. Even the steak had a sweet after tone taste. The pickle jalapeño was different adding to the sweetness of the broth. The pork and shrimp wonton is ok.

Google
This place 10/10. I’ve been looking for another Pho in the twin cities and came across this one!!! I knew as soon as I walked in that it would be good just from the smell. I had the shrimp and pork wontons fire!!!! Like I could have ate 2 plates of them!! I also got pho and it was amazing!! The service was great everyone was super nice definitely will be back.

JJ

Google
Pho was sweet - it left a sweet aftertaste too. I think they use flavor paste for both pho and bun bo hue broths. Personally, not a fan.

Noua Vang

Google
Got their cold cut banh mi sandwich and was it was the most disappointing sandwich I've ever had! Who uses pickled jalapeño?! It gave the sandwich a sour taste. Where's the meat?! Oh yeah, no where to be found cuz I only got one slice.

Google
Support Trieu Chau after the kitchen fire. It’s open again and the menu is the same. The restaurant back in the 50’s used to be a truck stop diner. It still has the original booths and the original flooring. The food is always fresh and can't beat the vermicelli salad #150 no matter how hard you try. The cooks and the waitresses are great too. Small place but big taste of home cooked Vietnamese meals made here fresh.

Google
Classic and comforting, solid pho and great service. Glad they are back open after the repairs!

Yelp
I recently visited Trieu Chau in Saint Paul and was thoroughly impressed by their authentic Vietnamese cuisine. If you're a fan of Pho, the Pho dac biet is a must-try - it's rich in flavor and perfectly seasoned. For those who enjoy fresh and tasty dishes, their Bun is exceptional, featuring great meat that enhances the dish. Another standout is the Bun Bo Hue, a spicy and deeply flavored soup that is simply unforgettable. It's important to note that Trieu Chau is all about the food. Don't expect overly welcoming service; this place is for those who prioritize quality eats over formalities. I believe genuine culinary experiences should be judged on the food's merit, not service speed or minor imperfections. It's unfair to downgrade establishments based on personal biases or unrealistic expectations. Trieu Chau stands out for its culinary authenticity, not for its service, and that's what makes it special.

Yelp
Trieu Chau has been a staple on University for many years and it's usually very busy, unfortunately it was not for me. I found the pho to be very mild to bland. The portions were generous. I also had egg noodle in pork broth which I found to be on the sweet side. Spring roll was cold. Pro-tip: payment is Visa or Cash Only.

Yelp
This is probably my favorite Vietnamese food spot in Saint Paul, and on a street where there are so many, I still think Trieu Chau is the best. Having bún bò huế, which is basically thick rice noodles in spicy broth with flank, tendon, steak and pork, on their menu is already a big plus, so when my friends and I went there, I ordered that right away, knowing that it would be a true testament to their food authenticity. It did not disappoint. The broth was very flavorful and really enhanced the flavor of both the noodles and the meat. I didn't feel the need to add any sriracha or hoisin sauce to anything because by itself it was just solid. My friends ordered phở tái bò viên and a chicken & mixed veggies lunch combo, and both of them had great things to say about their respective dishes. The phở contained steak and beef meatball, and my friend specifically mentioned that the broth was flavorful, and even proceeded to drink the entire bowl of broth afterwards. Knowing that it's the broth that counts, I believed what he said, and he was a relatively picky eater when it comes to Asian food. Last time I came to Trieu Chau was more than 5 years ago, and it is great to see that the business is still running. It was also pleasant to see many Asians dropping by the restaurant to have some food during their lunchtime like this place is a neighborhood working class lunch spot for the Asian communities around Frogtown. I would always support the business for that reason. It reminded me of home.

Yelp
Tasty pho, easily accessible to the Light Rail. I stopped by here after needing to burn a few hours waiting for my car to be serviced. It's on university, so it's easy to walk and once you regain your energy from eating, there's a few Asiatic grocery stores in the area to stock up for home. The place is a quaint stand alone restaurant. Fairly small, but has a big heart. Once you enter the restaurant you see all the places you can sit and can immediately order for take away or dine in. The staff sat out front and let you have your table of choice. They stopped by with a water and handed me the menu. Unfortunately Bahn Mi are only sold on the weekend, so I settled just pho for a late lunch. 135. pho dac biet The house or combo pho entry. It has all the meats. This joint serves Thai Basil, bean sprouts, and a slice of lime as the accoutrement. The broth wasn't overly spiced and had a slight sweet taste. I'm not a fan of meatballs, so I asked for a substitution with extra tendon instead. The tendons weren't as gelatinous as I would liked. I want my tendons with the consistency like a jello, but meat flavored. It was a little... al dente. The tables have your standard sauces; fish, hoisin, sriracha - Tabasco branded instead of the Huy Fong. Overall fairly tasty and ample supply of meat for the order. Would stop again if in the area and try other things on the menu.

Yelp
Bún Bò Huế: Very good. I enjoyed the various cuts of beef included in it. Mì Triều Châu: Tastes good! I liked the greens in it. Tri color chè: Good! Thai tea: Not homemade, they just gave me a can and a cup with ice. Still good, just good to know for future reference. Lots and lots more dishes to try in the future here!

Yelp
Best pho in the TV and it's not even close. I used to get the rare steak one but have since switched to the tofu and veggies pho which is great. I'm not vegetarian but if you are it is made with beef broth. It's absolutely delicious and fresh. We always get the cream cheese puffs for an appetizer and you can't go wrong with these either. Love everyone that works there too. Service is super fast and friendly even if the place is crowded. Love talking to the owner Minh when we see him. Honestly if you like pho there is no reason to go anywhere else in the TC.

Yelp
Trieu Chau is a hole-in-the-wall spot that serves hearty, albeit oily, Vietnamese comfort food. As always, three stars is NOT a bad review in my book. It means a place is perfectly fine. We got the tofu chow fun ($12.25) which wasn't bad but wasn't amazing. The hot & spicy tofu w/lemongrass ($14) was super spicy but also crazy oily. The sauce also congealed into a gloop pretty quickly. This is the type of dish you wouldn't necessarily want to eat often, nor take home for leftovers. They also offer banh mi, but only on Fridays and Saturdays. We got their at 7 p.m. on a Saturday and unfortunately they'd sold out by 5 p.m. The service is fast and friendly. Expect to see a mix of families and single people eating pho.

Yelp
So I decided to come back here for Pho since its been quite a while...before the pandemic. Its a tiny little spot even as it is a standalone building. Pho Fawn/Trieu Chau has been around in Frogtown for a long time. It received the Best Vietnamese Restaurant award 3 times from City Pages, the most recent award in 2018. I remember back before they had the addition to the entry built, and whenever the front door opened the sub zero temps would pour into the dining room. The entry made it a lot more livable in that regard. I was seated right next to the door, and it was okay. But then it was a 30 degree day. If it's much colder it would jot have been ok. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue, which is my one of my favorite Vietnamese noodle dishes. The broth was heavenly...truly one of the best in town. The noodle portions were very much on the small side. I regretted not ordering extra noodles. Aside from that it was an excellent bowl of Bun Bo Hue, with a full bodied and amazing broth and flavorful meats. The missing one star is the reason why I don't come here often. I was reminded of that this time again: service. They do not have assigned tables per server. This ONLY works in big dim sum restaurants where there are 2-3 "Captains" watching the room like a hawk, and yells down folks to serve whom they see fit. Without leadership, which Pho Fawn absolutely lacks, we're at the mercy of the young waitresses who make minimum wage. I had to flag down someone to place my order. The food took FOREVER. Finally, I almost had to yell down the waitress to give me a check. Well the pluses are they have yummy food and off street parking. Strikes are terrible service and a singular stall bathroom for this whole place. Good luck if someone has a little gut problem (which happened to me as I had to wait 15min to get into the bathroom.) Unfortunately Pho Fawn/Trieu Chau will forever by my 2nd or 3rd pick Pho in Frogtown.

Yelp
Best Pho I've ever had. Quick service, kind of a small little place. Everyone was super nice. If you're thinking about going here, just do it and you won't regret it! Even more delicious when you're cold in the winter.

Yelp
This restaurant has a sign that announces it is the best Vietnamese food. Quite a boast! They delivered: the bun salad was wonderful. The perfect mixture of noodle , meat, lettuce and bean sprout. Absolutely delicious

Yelp
Hot and delicious food served lightning fast! I don't know how they do it, but it you're hungry and need to eat quickly, this is the best restaurant in town. I highly recommend curried shrimp and vegetables (#51) and their beef or chicken pho. (Make sure to add broccoli!) Their chicken wings arrive HOT and crispy so give them time to cool down. Service is efficient over friendly, but that's okay with me- they get your order right and deliver quickly. There is nothing bad on their menu. Great lunch spot with no frills and won't disappoint.

Yelp
Food is ok even though it comes highly recommended. Service is fine and the experience is meh. There are much better options available. I have been there three times and felt the same way each time while trying to order new things.

Yelp
Pho? Weak. I've been here years ago. For some reason, people are saying this place has the best pho? Not really. Maybe 20 years ago. Pho broth is just water with salt. Egg rolls were bad. Never returning! Never waste my money. FYI, if you are hmong, don't bother. They don't like hmong people. Not recommended, and yet YOU still line up. As of 2023, my pick for best pho is pho 99.

Yelp
One of the best Vietnamese spots in the Twin Cities area! Try the vermicelli noodles!

JayonBlay C.

Yelp
During my overall visits, service is good and food is 3/5. At times this place will fill up quickly 50/50 depending on what day/time. Pho is still flavorful and tastes great. Bun bo hue is a good choice as well. Eggrolls/springrolls are not great, can definitely use more protein meat. Viet noodle soup are still on point. Overall good place to visit. Due to many choices on university ave, i prefer somewhere else but still a good choice if going.

Yelp
No fuss authentic pho place. Service was quick, and our food came quickly, too. The pho was flavorful, and portion size was great. Cash only unless paying more than $10. They have a small parking lot next to the restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
Yummy food and nice staff. The beef stew, pho and egg rolls are delicious! The parking is easy.

Yelp
Awesome food, and fast service! A great place for lunch or dinner. I love their bahn mi sandwiches, especially the grilled pork, and also the fried chicken! Enjoyed our meal.

Yelp
COVID UPDATE: I've been hoping this restaurant opens up once again and it has for dine in! They have markers on the ground outside to enforce social distancing while people wait. Masks are required to enter and workers also wear their mask. There are only 6 tables available for dine in. They provide hand sanitizer in the entrance which is awesome and have a poster giving more information about Covid 19. Now they give chopsticks in plastic bags and have done a great job adjusting to the new "normal" Food: The food is delicious as I remembered it. I ordered 142 and an order of cream cheese puffs. I mean you can never go wrong with the Pho here. Once fall and winter hits there is nothing like having a hot bowl of Pho. If you are having a bad day get some Pho, if you are going through a break up get some Pho, if you are celebrating a birthday get some Pho, if you are bored just get some Pho. I'm so glad that this place is open once again! Let's keep on supporting our local businesses!

Eduardo F.

Yelp
Best pho ever! you can taste the different spices. meat is tender. No need to add anything.
google avatar

Tracey F.

Yelp
Was given this place as a recommendation for "fast pho" years ago. After many visits, I have yet to try the pho, although it looks so yummy every time I see it come out of the kitchen. Service here is always quick once you are seated, but be aware, the space is small and can fill up quickly. My absolute favorite thing here is the egg roll salad. It's like getting 2 meals in one to me. You get 2 egg rolls on top of a very large salad with noodles and veggies. A limeade drink on the side just tops it off. The potential for a long wait for a table and them only taking Visa and having a $10 minimum is the only reason for taking off a star.
google avatar

Ice T.

Yelp
i liked the food, but got food poisoning. i think it might have been that the waitress brought me a pretty dented can of thai tea, but not sure.
google avatar

Mary Y.

Yelp
This place was pretty good. The bun bo hue is good, the taste is good and flavorful. It did also have a small spice to it as well. Also got a vermicelli bowl with meatballs, egg-rolls and grilled pork. The chicken wings was basic and the cream cheese wontons was pretty okay. Overall this place is good, the customer service is good as well, the only thing i would not get is the thai tea, i saw it come out of a bottle . So its not a thai tea they made but out of a bottle.
google avatar

Pa V.

Yelp
This used to be one of my favorite pho places in the Twin Cities- I usually just get the regular beef pho because lately I've been feeling like the service is going down and the quality in the beef went down. The cream cheese wontons were mediocre. The last few times I have been there the server was slow and unfriendly. This is a small local business with not many tables and definitely not ideal for a big group. Although parking is also limited I never had problems before. But I'll keep coming because this is one of my family's favorite places for pho.
google avatar

Tim R.

Yelp
So, we stumbled into this place by accident. We were looking for the Cambodian/Laotian place up the street and thought that's where we were. When we sat down we noticed the place was packed and smelled great. Then, I looked at the menu and thought, this looks like Vietnamese cuisine. Good thing we love Vietnamese food! We were not disappointed. The food was fresh, savory, and served with love. I spoke to the owner and let him know how happy we were with our meal. This was quite a find for us far away travelers from far off Wisconsin. It's worth it.
google avatar

Renée P.

Yelp
Trieu Chau has been such a staple in our covid takeout routine - their bun bowls are just out of this WORLD and travel so well! Look at the beauty of this meal! This is how it looks after a 25 minute car ride!! I always get the marinated chicken bowl and my husband always gets the bowl with meatballs, egg rolls, and marinated beef. The meat is all perfectly seasoned and i could literally snack on a bowl of their pickled daikon. Drench it all with their perfect vinegar and you've got the most satisfying and complex meal. In my opinion it's the best Vietnamese in the twin cities and EVERYBODY should be adding them to their takeout rotation! It's worth a 25 minute drive each way for me and truly not many places are!
google avatar

Harry K.

Yelp
Trieu Chau doesn't look that impressive from its perch next to an auto repair shop, but Minh and his tremendous staff serve up some very tasty Vietnamese food, including the best Pho in Minneapolis and Saint Paul. I have been going here since 2011. You will not be disappointed. One of my favorites is #127 hu tieu hoanh thanh (rice noodles with pork & shrimp wontons and pork slices in pork broth. So good! #151 bun bo xao (marinated beef over rice noodles) is another one of my all-time favorites. If you want something special and spicy try A1 bun bo hue (rice noodles in spicy broth flank, steak, and pork). Be warned, its a little spicy. If you love Vietnamese food, especially noodles and Pho, you have to visit Trieu Chau.
google avatar

Jaden Z.

Yelp
The foundation of a good bowl of Pho is the broth, you can tell when a restaurant puts care in their broth and cooks it long enough to to let the flavors get to know each other. Trieu Chau is a perfect example of a restaurant who puts great care in their broth, the flavor in their broth is exceptional and to top it all off the noodles and meat are cooked to perfection and the red onions they use are delicious which you usually don't see too often anywhere else. If your looking for an over the top exceptional bowl of Pho at one of the highest levels you can find in the Twin Cities, this is the place for you.
google avatar

Emily Z.

Yelp
Small hole in the wall Vietnamese place. I thought it was a solid choice to satisfy our craving, but it wasn't as good as some other places I've been to. Spring rolls: 3/5. Wish they had cilantro or something else inside because it was just lettuce. Their peanut sauce was pretty decent though. Pho: 3/5. The broth wasn't as good as others I've had but it was okay. I wish it had more fish sauce in it (or something was missing). The sauce was darker than normal too. Thai tea is from the bottle here I believe. Also their Vietnamese coffee was pretty decent (tried a sip of my friend's) but it could've used more cream. I'd give this place another try someday, I would try their cheese wontons (they looked really good).

Vicky T.

Yelp
The good was good, but they should clean the restaurant. It smelled like gym socks near where I was sitting. I could see some damp fabric door guards ina a corner.
google avatar

Sandy S.

Yelp
I only come here for the bun bo hue! The best. Staff are always so nice and friendly. Great service. They've never disappointed me.
google avatar

Zaria W.

Yelp
A diamond in the rough. The food is; seasoned soo perfectly, in very generous portions, fast and accurate to order as well as reasonably priced. Standing room only. The diner is always slammed full. This is a place for friends not first dates. It's a hole in the wall to be quite honest. All ages patron the shop. The crowd isn't rowdy however, once again it is packed so it's not the most quiet. Do not eat this after it's been in the fridge for 3 days. Standard rule with all take-out (fair warning with this place in particular- don't push it.) Drinks other than water are by the can. Easy to get to by public transit seeing that it's on University avenue. The parking is a pretty sweet situation as well. The wait staff is is very fast and very helpful. You are not limited to pho! The menu is extensive and friendly for all dietary concerns. A delightful place with fresh spices and sprouts.
google avatar

Shelby S.

Yelp
Let me first start by saying these were some of the best egg-rolls I've had in a while. Very crispy on the outside and the filling was packed and flavorful. I also ordered the wonton noodle soup and Vietnamese iced coffee. The soup was good, nothing too special and the bowl was kind of small for the pricing. In the soup there was wontons (pork&shrimp) they were the perfect size and tasty. Also, bbq pork slices were in there as well. So it was quite filling. The broth was the "sad" part of the dish it really just didn't have a big it factor. I didn't want to drink the broth after eating all the noodles/toppings. Side note they use pho noodles in the wonton soup which is different because most places use the egg noodles. That was a cool surprise. The Vietnamese iced coffee was good. But small cup for $3.50. Other places get you more bang for your buck and it tastes better. The restaurant was quite small, not the nicest place ever. More hole in the wall vibes. Once you are done eating you pay at the register. I would go here again for the egg-rolls!!! Yum

Yelp
Love the service. As we walked in they greeted us and told us any open table. As we sat down they brought out water and asked if we wanted anything to start off first. We wanted chicken wings so they told me they'll start that since the wings takes a while to cook. After a few minutes they came back and check up on us to take our order. We did not wait long for our food to come out. The service is quick and the food here is great. We will be returning, thank you.

Yelp
This is my boyfriend and I's go-to place on Sundays! We're now regulars after our little adventure trying to search for the perfect pho in Saint Paul. I usually order the pho, while my boyfriend likes to alternate between pho and bun bo hue. The pho is a clear broth, and yes, it has a more herbal flavor to it than some places. It is also slightly sweeter than other places as well. I really like their pho 'cause it' really refreshing and light. Also, they fill it with so much meat. If I don't want all the meat, I usually get the 141, which includes brisket and flank. My boyfriend loves the bun bo hue. Super hearty and delicious. It does not have the pig hock, which he usually doesn't eat anyway. Usually, he finishes almost everything, and trying to slurp as much soup as he can. The egg rolls here are pretty delicious. It's not your typical Chinese egg roll with a lot of cabbage. I love how crunchy and dense it is. The spring rolls are also really great. It's just nice to have something refreshing when you're eating soups. Their sauce for this is also very good! Love the little bit of spice with hoision sauce. Another dish that we love to eat is the Bun Salad. The meats are grilled to perfection, and it's such a nice salad when you want to eat something refreshing and light. I really, really enjoy the meat because not only is it grilled really nice, it's also seasoned really well. This place is super tiny, but worth the wait for the price and great food it serves.

Yelp
I went with a group of friends and tried the spring roll, beef and potato, egg roll, cream cheese puff, and the pho. Everything tasted amazing and the prices were reasonable. Our waitress mai-linh was so funny and nice, amazing service. The rest of the staff was also very friendly I will be going here from now on for my pho cravings
google avatar

Phillip Y.

Yelp
My co-worker and wife recommended this as authentic Vietnamese food. So, I can't question it since they are Vietnamese. Well, I would have to say that it is much better than others in Woodbury area. The price is certainly better, and we can tell in terms of quality. As recommended by my colleague, I had the traditional noodle dish separated from the broth. It allowed me to savor the pork sauce with noodle separate from the broth. My wife had it mixed together but I much preferred it separated. The shrimps, wontons, and pork slices are generous and with flavor. I haven't been to place where there is great care with homemade cooking. The broth is flavorful as well as sauce. We will definitely come here again.
google avatar

Amy K.

Yelp
And the search continues for my pho. Trieu Chau was speedy in delivery of our order but among being the "best pho" around, I have to kindly disagree. The broth was too sweet for my palate alone and lacked a balance between savory from the bone broth, acidic from the lime and fragrant from the spices and herbs. For someone that only adds basil and lime to their broth, I could not not get over the sweetness and had to break my own cardinal rule and added nuoc Nam to it. Granted, I know some enjoy additional sugar in the pho broth and I've seen some OGs add some, so this place was just not for me. On a lighter note, 4.5 stars on following CDC guidelines with constant cleaning of tables and separating customers from one another by blocking out middle tables. I applaud you on that. I would say however, that if a customer has finished their meal and are at the counter to pay, you should advise them to put their mask back on (saw this three times during my meal actually). Would be safer for both you and your coworkers, but there obviously was not a sign so no ones to be blamed really. Since half stars aren't available, ideally this would be a 3.5 for me. Off to the next place.

Yelp
My favorite Vietnamese restaurant in town. Reasonable and Affordable prices. Fast service. Super nice customer service. We got there just when they were cleaning up and ready to close because google and yelp said that they close at 9pm. They actually closes at 8pm now (not sure if they would change it back to 9pm during the summer), but the owner was very understanding and still let us eat there. Friendly staff. There is a pretty small parking lot right next to it and it's only 3-4 mins walk from the lightrail station. I got the bun bo hue and it was perfect for the cold weather. Some Vietnamese restaurants make it really sweet but this place made it balance between savory and a little of sweetness. Will 100% come back again :)

Yelp
Food: By far the best, most authentic Vietnamese restaurant in the cities. I've been here quite a few times and our favorites are the Banh Mi sandwich, the Hot & Spicy Chicken with Ginger, the Egg Rolls, and the Sauteed Beef over French Fried Potatoes. My next meal will be the Pho as I've heard it's delicious; usually at least half the restaurant has ordered the Pho. Venue: A hole in the wall, no frills restaurant. It's clean, but lacks ambiance or much decor. Limited parking in their lot.

Yelp
I literally hiked a in a historic blizzard to go to this place; that should tell you how good Tried Chau is. Every entree I've tried just makes you feel warm inside, and it's a great price for the amount of food you get. I've tried the Phone, Chicken Chow Mein, Egg Rolls, and the House Fried Rice, and I'd recommend each and every one. Plan on taking leftovers home :) The restaurant is located on University Ave, and can be a bit tricky to find if you aren't looking closely. There is some parking in the back if you drive!

Yelp
Decided to stop in since we had a two hour wait at Midas next door. The last time we had lunch at Trieu Chau was nearly 15 years ago. We just never gone back due to the hours, location, space, subpar food, and how busy they can be with only one or two wait staff. It seems not much has changed. Still super busy, small space, hardly any wait staff, and the food is just "alright." Some May Say the food must be good that's the reason why it's busy. Well, that's half true. Their prices r a lot lower than other places. Sometimes people will fight the bullet to save a few pennies. I'm not the kind to do so. I will pay more and don't care about saving them pennies. We ordered pho, and spring rolls. The usual. The pho is too sweet for my liking, too much brother to liquid ratio. I like that they added plenty of meat tho! . The spring rolls were A+. Perfect peanut sauce to go along. When we were finished, we waited a good 3-4 minutes (which may not seem long, but when the space is small and everyone seems right next to you, you kinda begin to feel claustrophobic) for someone to ring us up. Overall, I had not gone back in 15 years for many reasons and those reasons r still the same. We should have walked across the street to Lao Thai. Much more space. .

Yelp
Superb Pho! Talk about Pho on point! Delicious broth and very hearty. This place is usually full by lunch time so it's a quick dine and out experience. There are times when I feel a bit rushed by the waitresses but it's understandable for a mom & pop restaurant at this caliber. One of the best pho restaurants in the Saint Paul, MN area.

Yelp
Had the egg rolls, spring rolls, mixed rice noodle salad, and pork fried rice. All was excellent. The interior is run down and I wish someone would spring to spend some cash on improvements, but if it bothers you get it to go with a limeade and you're golden. Excellent.

Yelp
I am so glad I found this place! It seemed like a hole in a wall type of place but their food did not dissapoint! They have the best Vietnamese noodle "bun" salad I've had in the twin cities. I ended up getting the grilled pork and shrimp combo, which was reasonably priced at $9. The grilled pork had so much flavor, and it went so well with the vermicelli noodles. My fiance ordered the chicken chow mein stir fry which came with an eggroll and that was delicious as well. Don't let their prices fool you because you get a lot of food. I ended up having enough for lunch the next day. Parking was easy as they have their own parking lot. I can't wait to go back and try their pho as everyone else around me seemed to order that so it must be good. I highly recommend this place and you can't go wrong with their prices as well!

Yelp
I've been coming here for years now and have never been disappointed in their pho. I always get the beef and meatballs (5/5). I like their pho broth. You can basically eat it without adding the extra sauces. They have pretty good cream cheese wontons (4/5). Those were always fresh from the fryer so be careful because it can be hot. I think the spring rolls (3/5) are just okay. Nothing too special. This place is quite intimate on the inside. It gets crowded during the lunch rush. Their service is pretty fast though.

Yelp
Food: Ehhhh, pretty good Vietnamese food... not the freshest, but it comes out at MASTER speed. I had the seafood pho, and the imitation crab was weirdly squishy, the rest weirdly chewy. The actual pho noodles were goos though. The several time in the oast I've gone were about the same... Good place to filll up if you're hungry, not for the foodie though. For the price, a decent meal. Ambience : Efficient use of space, I guess. Very traditional Asian restaurant-- small, few tables, super rapid service. You kind of get rushed in and out; turnover is quick, and therefore service is quick. Again, a good place to get in, eat, and get out. Parking: Pretty ample, actually, and has its own lot.

Yelp
Best Banh Mi sandwich in the city. Place is run like well oiled machine. I can't ever pull myself from the sandwich however, I've been here many times with friends/co-workers and all have loved their menu choices. The dining area is small & gets busy in a hurry around lunch but, it's worth it.

Yelp
My fav viet place in Saint Paul. It's no fuss simply amazing food. Best tri-color in town too! This is a great spot for hangovers tbh haha. I went in and was so happy with the food. Their fried egg rolls are so damn good. I think it's double fried, so it's so crispy and steamy. The last time I ordered their pork broth (Mi) egg noodle soup. It was ok, their pho is better though. Their vietnamese coffee is soooo good too, so definitely get that and the tri-color if you are have a sweet craving!
