"Open for: Lunch, dinnerPrice range: $Since returning home to Cleveland, chef-owner Anthony Zappola has made a career out of delivering high-quality foods in quick-serve settings. After more than a decade of working for Tom Colicchio, Zappola opened back-to-back hits Lox, Stock, and Brisket and the Rice Shop in Cleveland. With Tripi, named for the birthplace of his grandparents, the chef aims his focus on a handful of Italian dishes. Sandwiches such as chicken Parm and cold Italian subs are built atop house-baked rolls, pasta is topped with a choice of sausage or meatballs, and thick slices of sheet-pan pepperoni pizza are ready for the taking. Best for: This might be the quickest, best lunch option in all of Ohio City." - Douglas Trattner

This exceeded all expectations I had for a deli style shop! I got the Tuscan Turkey & I’m still craving the pesto mayo a couple weeks later. The bread was so light & wasn’t overly filling like many other sub style breads. It was the perfect size sandwich! The workers were incredibly nice & friendly. It was so fun looking at the family photos they had on display.

Google
such a cute & yummy Italian speciality spot for a quick lunch. The focaccia bread was delicious and so was the wedding soup. I had the roast beef which was amazing with the yummiest horseradish mayo.

Stopped by here and got the Italian wedding soup and turkey sandwich and still dreaming about both! Truly incredible and the best personal service!!! I feel it’s a true Italian deli experience and it exceeded all expectations!!!! Chefs kiss 🤌🤌🤌

Google
Incredible food. These sandwiches are amazing, and you really just need to try them. Honestly, it's hard to find a better sandwich in Cleveland. Very friendly service. The counter service line is designed better for carry out, and is just a touch awkward if you are dining in. The dining area would be great for small groups for business or anything else because there are some wide open seating options. But that wide open environment also means there aren't any great options for, say, a date or reading a book over your lunch break or whatever. Nothing stopping it! Just nothing that lends itself to that very well.

Google
Fresh bread, homemade sauce, what’s not to love? The chicken parm was really good. You can tell they bake the bread fresh daily. The Papa Tony was very fresh and tasty. We split the Italian wedding soup and it filled in the cracks nicely. The proprietor was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Definitely going back.

Came here from the East side to surprise my husband . He loves Italian Deli. Tripi did not disappoint. Friendly service as soon as we walked in, great food and a cute dinning area. We had the Papa Tony, Pasta dinner with meatballs and the Wedding soup. All delicious! Our favorite was the Papa Tony.

Delicious. Had to take home half of my chicken parm. Friendly staff, too. Love the family photos on the wall.

Google
Quick yet very personable service. I frequently get the eggplant parm and its always fried fresh. Turkey sandwich with the arugula on the focaccia is fantastic as well as the sizable $3 pizza slices. Do not skip the fridge with the desserts, those cheesecakes and little tiramisus are delightful!! One of my fav eateries in Ohio City, hope they get the recognition they deserve!!

Yelp
Awesome food, so much better than chains. Meat is fresh and the employees are knowledgeable and friendly. Worth a trip

Yelp
Came here for a weekday lunch with my wife...needed to try some of those sandwiches everyone's been raving about! Was not busy when we walked in, so service was quick and efficient. We ordered two sammies and a bag of homemade potato chips. They brought us the meal while we sat in the adjoining dining room. The Tuscan turkey sandwich was served on fresh focaccia bread and topped with pesto mayo, mozzarella and arugaula...it was light but very tasty with the zesty mayo countered by the peppery lettuce. The chicken parm sub was easily shareable and of course served hot with a bright tomato sauce and melted provolone cheese. The homemade rosemary potato chips really hit the spot for a salty bite in-between digging into the sandwiches. Glad we finally had the time to pop in and give them a go. Will not be our last time there!

Yelp
Friendly staff and great sandwiches! I just got an Italian Beef. This is the second time I've had it and it was delicious! I also got a piece of cheesecake, but haven't tried it yet. Looking forward to it, they make it in house too.

Yelp
I saw the Italian sandwich on Insta featured in 'Best Sandwiches in Cleveland'. The list is no lie. I was so excited to find Tripi open around dinnertime so we popped in. The wedding soup was very good. We also shared a pepperoni roll and it was nice and stuffed. The crown jewel was the Italian sandwich. Peppers, muffulata, AND giardinera??! Yes please. The bread was fresh and delicious- I was pleased to find out they bake it themselves! Quality meats and cheeses and perfectly constructed. The staff was super friendly and walked us through our options before we ordered. It's not a huge menu- which I love. That tells me they do a handful of foods and they do them well. Prices were on par with similar shops. I don't normally directly compare small businesses, but there are clear reasons why I will likely visit Tripi over another popular sandwich shop in close proximity: 1) the hours 2) the availability 3) the dining room Can't wait to visit again and try more deliciousness. The pizza looked and smelled so good.

Yelp
Good sandwich. Healthy Salad options. Friendly staff. Affordable coffee. Nice cafe seating area. No complaints.

Yelp
Tripi Italian is now OPEN as of Thursday, 22 June 2023. The owner also owns Lox, Stock, and Brisket and the Rice Shop. SOLD OUT -- I arrived on a Friday afternoon at 2pm, a day after their grand opening, to find them sadly closed. I will try again another day but from a customer service perspective, at least they left a note on their front door about being sold out for the day. I came back the next day, on Saturday, 24 June and they were open. They opened at 11:30am and I arrived after 12:00noon. They got busy as I left around 12:40pm. FOOD (3.5/5) -- They have sandwiches and pasta dinners for $11. They also sell a salami sandwich for $13. There are soft drinks (soda), juices, and water bottles in a fridge for sale as well. Water is $1 for a bottle. I ordered the Italian sausage sandwich ($11) without peppers and without onions. The sausage was slightly spicy which I loved. The Italian sausage sandwich came with mozzarella cheese and a tomato sauce. I don't like eating cheese but the mozzarella was good. I didn't get sauce in my sandwich but later on, I asked someone to get me sauce on the side which made the sandwich taste a bit better because the BREAD was so hard. I could hardly eat the while sausage sandwich because the bread was almost rock hard. VIBE -- This is a casual Italian restaurant that feels more like a cafe. I love the colourful photo frames on the wall too. Overall, if you love pasta and sandwiches then come and try this new restaurant. **** - 72/150 total reviews in 2023 - 623 total overall Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 23 June 2023 (edited on 24 June 2023)

Yelp
Great spot for a sandwiches/salad/pasta. We've had everything on the menu, and the sandwiches here are without question some of the best in the city. Consistent food made in house. Service is always top notch. They are happy to answer all sorts of questions about the food.

Yelp
The Italian sandwich's here hit the spot. Having spent the last 3 decades of my life in Brooklyn I miss the small Italian sand which shops that were no frills. Tripi provides that and more. I got the eggplant parm sandwich and holy ish, it was good. I was skeptical about there tomato sauce as anyone would be but THE TOMATO SAUCE IS THE BOMB. The whole sandwich hit home and for $10 on a hero semolina contraption it was worth every penny. Service was super friendly and I def suggest you going. The side salad was also a light treat! THIS PLACE HITS HOME, AMAAZINNNGGG!!

Yelp
The chicken cutlet and prosciutto sandwich was incredible. The type of sandwich where you close your eyes and say a prayer during your first bite. The sandwich that makes you take your shoes off and wiggle your toes. Praise god. I would have taken a picture but I didn't have the patience to put it down. Very happy this place opened up and it's so close to me in Ohio City. I shall be back.

Yelp
I'll eat anything that Anthony Zappola makes, so I was excited to check out his new spot in Ohio City, marking his triumphant return to the west side since leaving the Ohio city Galley years ago. Trust me when I tell you that Tripi does not disappoint. This is a casual spot where the food is bonkers-level good. It's got a sort of decades-ago vibe about it in a good way, in the way that characters from The Sopranos used to sit outside an Italian deli all day every day. It's also enormous, with lots of seating and space for parties and events, too. You could easily have a birthday or anniversary party here (and Zappola wants you to! It's rentable!) The chicken Parmesan sandwich is simple but perfectly done -- and hearty, too, with leftovers for lunch tomorrow. The biggest, baddest sandwich on the menu is the Papa Tony, four kinds of meat, cheese, lettuce and Italian dressing on fresh-baked crusty bread. And leave room for dessert, which is incredible -- cannoli, cookies, little pies in cups (get the cheesecake!). Honestly, everything here is just very straightforwardly delicious. It's clear that it's a labor of love for its owner, and it's a delight to enjoy his food.

Yelp
The attention to detail of the prepared Italian sandwich is superior, no surprise that this place is owned by a Chef with deep Italian roots. Service is great and the ambiance is very welcoming like an Authentic Italian restaurant should be!

Yelp
Chicken Parm sandwich was good wish they had a chicken cutlet sandwiches with light sauce and onions and mushrooms! Like California sandwiches or Commisso brothers but that's another country! A+

Yelp
My friend treated me to lunch at Tripi; which opened on June 22, 2023. Congrats!! They are a Italian restaurant located in Ohio City. The owner also owns LoxStockandBrisket and the RiceShop as well. On our way there; we were trying to find parking near the restaurant but didn't get so lucky as we parked on a side street but it was well worth it. When we arrived; it was starting to get kind of busy but the staff was soo kind and assisted us. I ordered the Italian Sausage Sub. The sub was good but the bread was honestly too hard for me to actually enjoy it. I found myself trying to find a decent part to bit into when I should of just dive right in(if you know what i mean) but that might of been my fault as i believed i told them to toast it. So if you don't care about stuff like that then you'll love it. Of course they have a lot of other delicious items to choose from and I can't wait to come back to try the rest. One of things I loved was seeing all of the family pictures put up in the restaurant. It's telling a story..generations to generations passed down. The ambiance was a vibe! After my friend and I finished eating; more people just kept coming in. Which was awesome to see!

Yelp
This place has a great slice of pizza, it's a rectangular cut gem and it's only 3$ I would definitely stop in here to get anything else they make. But the sausage pizza I bought was great. The dough was thick but doughy, the only thing I wanted more of was the sauce. Anyways quick friendly service. It's just a walk in type lunch place no seating.

Yelp
I would go 4.5 stars, but that is not an option. I did not select 4 stars because it was clearly better than just "Good". It's very good. Menu is very concise - 4 sandwiches, pasta selection, pizza and 2 salads. I did take out the Papa Tony and 2 slices of Pepperoni pizza. The Papa Tony's are already prepared and will add on banana peppers, giardiniera, muffuletta mix and dressing, as you so choose. I added 3 out of the 4. It's the Italian sandwich which comes with the 4 italian meats on it. The clerk was a wonderful young lady. I did not get her name, but she proved to be an excellent clerk. She recommended not heating up the Papa Tony since it had lettuce and tomato on it already. I obliged. The sub was very good. Great taste from everything on a very firm (some say too hard) sub roll. $14 sub. The pizza reminded me of an Italian 's home made pizza - Sicilian square, great dough with scant touches of cheese. It was very good. $3 slice Overall a very, good experience with very good food. I would recommend them and I will defiantly be back.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing. Papa Toni sandwich was fantastic. Staff was so wonderful. We drove two hours and worth every bite.

Yelp
This is a small restaurant right on Lorain Ave. in Ohio City. Restaurants that are open every day and have consistently good food are a little scarce over here but there's a good donut shop! Tripi has sandwiches, salads and pasta and the selection is ever growing. It's an Italian theme so they have pasta with red sauce and a variety of toppings like eggplant, fried chicken breast or meatballs. The same can be made as a a hot sandwich or go for one of the premade sandwiches in the case which are enough for 2 meals. The hot food is hot and not lukewarm. There are desserts and salads and lasagna to heat up, and a little store so you can shop to prepare a meal at home. A good size dining room is just out of view. The counter staff is friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Food was great and the staff was fabulous. Definitely will be back. The atmosphere was inviting

Yelp
Excellent Italian sandwich and meatball sub, the bread was perfect. The guy running the shop was extremely welcoming when picking this up, I will be back

Jonathan M.

Yelp
Got the Italian sandwich. Flavors were on point. Amazing bread. I have been salivating about this sandwich for a while and it lived up to the hype. The guy at the counter was super nice also! I will be back...

Traci H.

Yelp
unhinge your jaw for this Italian sandwich! Oh my. Not just huge but amazing flavors going on. Loved the peppers and gardinia both. Pepperoni bread was also fantastic. Can't wait to go back and try more.

Jack O.

Yelp
Got the Papa Tony. It was premade and all I had to do was say which toppings I wanted. I was in and out in maybe 5 minutes. Very large sandwich. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Would return and recommend.

Yelp
I've been here a few times since they've opened as my boyfriend lives in the neighborhood and will continue to be a repeat customer. First off, as soon as you walk in it smells amazing. I've ordered the Papa Toni twice and the Meatball sub once and the salad in their fridge twice. Service is always fast even when the line has been out the door and the food is fresh and tasted incredible. The sandwiches are huge but I love saving the other half for my lunch the next day or splitting with my boyfriend. Happy to have another great restaurant join the neighborhood and look forward to returning.

Yelp
Had the chicken parm, delish. They warm it, fresh bread, sauce was also delish. Home made, in my opinion. Owner is very friendly and motivated! Please support our local businesses!

Dan K.

Yelp
Got sandwiches from here while in town and they were great. Place is clearly still getting up off the ground but the sandwiches were good and can't hate the owner's hustle here. Would go again

Dan P.

Yelp
Great addition to Ohio City! The Italian sandwich was fantastic! Entire staff is friendly and makes you instantly comfortable! Definitely recommend!

Stevie M.

Yelp
We got the Papa Tony and the Italian Sausage sandwiches. The service was fast, efficient, and warm. The Papa Tony was perfect! The meat, ALL the toppings--what a meal! The Italian Sausage was good--all the flavors were perfect; just the right amount of spicy, delicious sauce...the only issue was that it was SO MUCH BREAD. The crusty, fresh bread that was great on the Papa Tony just swallowed the Italian Sausage. It was really hard to get a perfect bite, and the toppings just got lost. Would probably stay away from this one next time.
