Unfortunately, for the price of the food, I expected much more in terms of quality and flavor.. I ordered the meatloaf, smoked salmon, and the strawberry crumble dessert.
The best part of the meal was the meatloaf. I enjoyed the preparation of the meat, but felt like there needed to be more flavor..Maybe a more standout sauce? The loaf didn't really mesh well with the potatoes which were largely flavorless. 4/5 for the meatloaf though.
I next tried the smoked salmon on toast and was immediately put off. The smoked salmon was very fishy & metal tasting..Almost like a tuna or canned sardine taste. That made me a little worried as I eat smoked salmon often and it doesn't typically have this strong fishy-metallic aftertaste. Not sure what that was, but I didn't finish the smoked salmon because of this.
With the dessert, my ice-cream was melted..I don't totally hold that against the restaurant, as I did order takeout, but I live 2 minutes from the restaurant, so it's clear the food was sitting out for a while. Perhaps in the future, restaurants can keep temp-sensitive foods like icecream, in the freezer for takeout orders, until customers arrive. My main gripe was with the crumble dessert itself. It was soggy and very wet. Not crumble-like at all.. The texture was literal mush and I couldn't eat it because of that. The texture just wasn't pleasant. For $10 I expected much more.
I felt that the price of the food was way too high for the end-quality. I'll stick to some other local favorites in the area.
