The 20 Best Indian & Pakistani Restaurants in LA

"Tulsi is just a fast-casual restaurant in the same way that a wolverine is just an animal. It’s technically true, but there’s a lot more exciting context than that. This Indian mini-chain has four locations across LA, and it’s officially where you should be getting lunch in DTLA or a quick dinner in Westwood. Their counter-service dining rooms look like a Sweetgreen, but the food here is much more exciting than overdressed kale—Tulsi offers a solid array of Northern, Southern, and Western Indian dishes that almost all cost less than $15. The specialty is their gunpowder masala dosa, filled with soft potatoes dusted in spicy dry chilis and served with lentil-studded sambar. We also love their extensive lassi menu, which has flavors that range from dragon fruit to hibiscus-cotton candy." - nikko duren, brant cox

15 Essential Restaurants in Westwood Near UCLA | Eater LA

"Tulsi is a fast-casual Indian spot where most dishes are under $10 and the menu’s worth a thousand words. The dishes represent a range of Indian cuisines across Southern, Northern, and Western India, including arguably the best Gujarati food Los Angeles has to offer. Try the undhiyu, a 10-vegetable medley with sweet potatoes, potatoes, eggplant, yam, coconut, and more. It’s a Gujarati staple that is at once bitter, sweet, salty, and savory, and it’s not easily found in LA." - Matthew Kang

25 Restaurants Where Corkage Is Under $15

"One of the oldest Indonesian restaurants in Los Angeles, Ramayani is filled with everyone on the Westwood spectrum. From locals that have been coming here for years to scattered UCLA students looking for a reprieve from the dining hall, the best thing to do is order the nasi uduk combo platte, bring whatever bottle of wine sparks the most joy, sit back, and take the whole scene in. I recently visited Tulsi Indian Eatery in Westwood near UCLA for the fourth time, and it continues to impress! The food here is excellent, offering an authentic taste of Indian cuisine with a wide variety of dishes from Northern, Southern, and Western regions. What stood out this time was discovering they now accept inKind payments, which made the experience even more convenient. But the real highlight for me is the quantity—portions are incredibly generous, giving you amazing value for your money.

Went there on Saturday afternoon for lunch fortunately it wasn’t that crowded so I was able to order quickly. The idli and wada seemed little stale but dhokla was good. Vada from vada pav was okay. Also ordered 2 veg combo and the cashew curry , malai kofta was good. Chicken tikka masala was OK but I guess that chicken curry or something that’s sort was OK as well. Chicken biryani was good though not great.. ras malai was okay. Overall, I could say it’s not that bad but also it’s not that great with taste.. but yes, some items are really good for for example dhokla malai kofta chicken biryani chicken tikka masala. But since it was that crowded, so we were able to order fast, but to take time to get the food. I wonder what would be happening if there was a little crowd.. also parking may be a little problem in that area. Overall, I give it three star out of five.. forgot to mention that Naan was awesome!

Edit: The menu has changed recently with a lot of Indian regional foods eliminated from it and meat teams added (it is no longer a vegetarian restaurant). Make sure that you check the updated menu before visiting. Tulsi is an Indian restaurant located very close to UCLA. There is plenty of seating available inside the restaurant. We did not see any outdoor seating. There is street parking near the restaurant. The restaurant was clean and had a great vibe! The seating was comfortable. You order food and pay upfront at the cashier and are given a device the vibrates when the food is ready to be picked up. The staff was busy yet very patient and pleasant! Had the 3 curry plate, Manchuria and samosa chaat and all of them hit the right spots! The food was delivered by a robot that they had in restaurant. It was fun to watch the robot navigate! They also have food specials on Indian festivals so look out for those!

Google
I visited on multiple days and found that more than half the menu items were consistently unavailable, including all the paneer dishes. If you're looking for a pure vegetarian restaurant, be aware that they do serve chicken and fish-so the place may not align with what you'd expect from the way it's advertised. The taste of the food is just average.

We ordered the family special which allows you to select two types of rice 3 curries and 2 types of roti. While the food was reasonably priced and the ambiance was pretty good, the service was very slow. We also added an extra side of rice, roti and lassi and it took close to half an hour to get them all. There is a fancy robot to serve the food, but it takes a long time for them to even load the items on the robot while they’re sitting ready on the shelves. Quite disappointed with the pace of the service.

My husband and I had delivery, we tried a wide range of dishes. I’m very excited about this new restaurant and I want to encourage everyone to give it a try! These are dishes that I grew up on and it’s so nice to see these well priced and tasty dishes brought to the Westwood area. Broaden your palette and check out a lot of veggie options to delight you! The Naan, dar, dosa, and chicken masala were terrific! Welcome to the neighborhood Tulsi! 😁

We had literally worst experience here. It’s a Indian vegetarian restaurant. They offer wide range of menu. Visited with a group of 7. We ordered aloo paratha, tulsi special masala dosa, uttapam, veg thali, vadapav, veg noodles. Their service was super slow even though it was not crowded at all. Uttapam was not cooked properly. Dosa was crispy and tasted ok. We all liked veg thali. Thali had 1samosa, 2/3 veggie, sweet, some rice and rotis. However it came after really long wait. Also, they missed to put a bowl of sweet in our thali and when we informed them their manager came at table to check all the empty bowls. I’d definitely not recommend this restaurant.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Tulsi Indian Eatery, and I must say it was a truly remarkable experience. The highlight of my visit was their fascinating cat robot-like server that effortlessly glided across the restaurant, bringing dishes to each table. It was a delightful blend of technology and tradition, adding an element of fun and uniqueness to the dining experience. The ambience of the restaurant was equally impressive, with well-lit interiors creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The attentive and friendly staff further enhanced the overall dining experience. Tulsi Indian Eatery is a gem of a restaurant, seamlessly combining innovation, culinary excellence, and a pleasant ambiance. I highly recommend visiting this establishment for a truly memorable dining experience. It deserves every bit of its five-star rating!

Yelp
I was really looking forward to eating here. The menu looked delicious. And on here it says that they have outdoor seating. But when we got there (1) no outdoor seating; (2) completely empty restaurant with not a soul eating inside; (3) the first thing the one employee wanted to tell me was that they were out of most of the curries. The menu looked delicious again, but we decided to go elsewhere. With even one or two tables still outside we might have decided to stay. Bummer!

Yelp
Tulsi is an enjoyable place for a quick yummy cafeteria style Indian meal. Awesome for vegetarians with many options, I especially love getting the three curry combo with malai kofta. Sadly wasn't able to get lassi because they ran out of completely the day that I went, but would definitely come back if I was in the area. The place inside was huge and so clean. They have a cute robot to serve your food.

Yelp
The food here is fantastic and very affordable! The little robot bringing the food is a fun touch and sets them apart from any other place. Service was very friendly and helpful when we had questions about the menu. We tried a variety of their dishes and enjoyed all of them. Great flavors all around. Everything was made toward quickly great option if you're looking for Indian food in the area!

Yelp
I really love this place (in Westwood) but it appears to now be closed! Hopefully, it's only temporary. I used to go here at least once a week for their delicious Indian lunches. I have spent time in India and am very well versed with their foods and snacks. Tulsi is the real thing when it comes to capturing those tastes. It's also a very nice atmosphere. I can't reach anyone there and therefore can't find out if it's closed for good. If they re-open I will run back.

Yelp
Let me start by saying that I love-love-love Indian food, have been to India, and eaten at likely dozens and dozens of Indian establishments as well at the homes of Indian friends in many places here and abroad. I consider myself to be a superfan of the country and its cuisine. I had a reason to be in Westwood and spotted Tulsi when I realized my favorite vegan place has left Los Angeles. I found parking (which can be a nightmare in Westwood) right out front on an ultra quiet afternoon -- before the semester begins at UCLA and decided to eat in and take out. Tulsi, as you can see from all the pictures here as well as mine, is cheerfully decorated. The green and orange theme is appealing and appropriate, and there is an extensive menu from which to choose their unique regional dishes. Most of them are not the usual fare you find in California in similar Indian places, so I was intrigued. It was easy to order, the food came out piping hot, in generous portions, looked very appetizing, and the flavors lived up to any expectations I always have for Indian dishes. This is a large spot, perfect for lunch, I am sure popular with the college crowd during the year, and they have perks like delivery, online ordering, etc. Now, why a 3? It almost reached 4. Here's what I think needs improvement: 1. The adorable, innovative, delivery Bot was full of crumbs from previous meals. It wasn't "dirty", per se, just did not look clean. No one wants to see leftovers from someone else's order. There were only two other tables of diners in the place at that moment. How hard would it have been to brush off, wipe, whatever, the Bot? It is such a cute device, a great little gimmick with a sweet voice that announces cheerfully as it arrives at your table, "Here I am!" and then says "Good bye" or "Thank you". Had those crumbs been cleaned, I would have been thrilled with this novelty. 2. The plastic flatware was so cheap and flimsy that I could barely use it. I think we only got teaspoons and forks -- no knives. The napkin dispenser is a great idea, but the napkins were literally thin rough squares of paper that I have not seen outside the Garden State Parkway restrooms in 50 years. 3. The staff are almost mute. There were some faint smiles when we smiled and asked for things but no one greeted us and said welcome when we arrived. The place was so crypt-like that it almost felt as if we were intruding (am I being paranoid? maybe), just by coming in and sitting down to eat our light meal. 4. The music was on for about 10 minutes and then just stopped cold. That made the place seem even less hospitable. Did they want to nap? I am sorry. I won't go back at that hour ever again, if I ever go back, that is. This is hard for me to report. I wanted to love Tulsi. It comes so close to being epic and yet fails on these simple things. The food is amazing. The rest, not so much. Sigh...

Yelp
So disappointed to see MEAT in a so-called vegetarian establishment. The website hasn't been updated to reflect the same. We used to love coming here as a vegan/vegetarian household. Not anymore. Service was miserably slow, and the quality of food was subpar. $9 for store-bought bhel mix covered in tamarind sauce?!! How can this be called "Bombay Bhel"? No veggies and no burst of flavors. Just the mix in tamarind sauce. You have just lost some loyal customers.

Yelp
Came in with a friend and we both got the samosa chaat with a lassi. I got the mixed berry lassi and my friend got the hawaiian. The lassi's didn't have much of the fruit flavor it was very subtle and more yogurt tasting. I love samosa chaat so much. I was kinda disappointed with it this visit. I dined in and it was cold. Previously I've gotten it to go and it was still hot when I got home 10 minutes later.

Yelp
Stopped by here tonight for dinner with my partner. I ordered the 3 curry combo, with the chicken tikka masala, malai kofta, and paneer masala. The combo also came with rice, a cup of dal, and garlic naan. We also added on samosas. Everything was so flavorful and delicious. My only gripe was that the kofta balls seemed overcooked and were difficult to chew. Price was very reasonable, and service was relatively quick (we were served by a cute robot!) We will definitely be back again.

Yelp
I was really craving masala dosa and fortunately Tulsi had it on their menu! The dosa was good but not great or as crispy as I would've liked. The condiments on the side were solid. The curries here were also okay but they did not have as much flavor and spice as I'm used to. It took a while for our food to get to us, and they used robots likely due to understaffing. My partner's meal and my meal came out 30 minutes apart, which wasn't ideal. However, this is still a good place to check out if you're craving dosa in the Westwood area.

Yelp
Must visit! Amazing food and great ambience. Their service is super quick and easy. The food is just right to its core and with the correct blend of indian flavour twists, it just amazes me. Love getting authentic indian food in la, and makes me value these authentic restaurants more than the restaurants who blend the authenticity of their culture to be liked by others

Yelp
We have gotten this twice for takeout in the past month. It has been a lot of fun because they have lots of Indian specialties we have never tried like idli, vada, khaman dhokla. The chutneys that come with them are really great (the coconut and tomato ones). We also like the curries, especially the paneer makhni and the vegetable cashew korma. The naan could definitely be a little more substantial and the prices might be a little high for some dishes, but we really enjoyed all the flavors.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time. It's a quick service restaurant where you order at the front and get handed a buzzer. It's self seating and has a pretty decent amount of tables and booths to choose from. Once our food was ready, the buzzer rang and a little robot delivered our food. Plant Based Chicken Tikka Masala - The saltiest curry I've ever tasted. It honestly was such a shame because the flavors were there, it was just overly salted to the point where it was inedible. Not even dipping the naan into the curry tampered down the salt. If this place wasn't a quick service restaurant, I would have said something. I barely ate any of it and it made my stomach turn to knots. Garlic naan - Exactly what you'd expect. Not amazing not awful. Pretty middle of the road. Although they had lots of plant based options to choose from, I don't think I'll ever be coming back here. The salt in the curry was unbearable and even worse, gave me a terrible stomach ache.

Yelp
Tried a few things from this place. They are all well made. Their food is the right kind of spicy, not bland like typical indian restaurants in the US. Their mughlai kheer was not at all what I expected. Usually kheer is made of rice or vermicelli. But this was smooth yoghurt with pistachios. It was also too sweet for my taste.

Yelp
Just don't -- not if you have been in the past. Issues: - no longer pure veg, now they have meat - flavors are so off now -- to the point of 'staleness' Like a previous reviewer, we ordered Bombay Bhel -- it was meh at best, not as flavorful as before Ordered the thali with: Dhal Makhani -- tasted stale and looks like they forgot the Makhani Kofta -- no flavor Paneer -- 3 pieces in a very bright orange sauce, most flavorful dish we had Amritsar Kulcha -- the stuffing was pedestrian - Service: what's that? They have one person in the front who doesn't take orders. The machine asks for a buzzer number -- so you make one up. They send the machine to deliver, but the server has to ask who ordered the first dish so she knows which table to send it to. Finally, ordered a tractor drink -- never offered a glass -- ended up just using the water cups to get my drink. - menu display is inaccurate -- showed a Diwali special valid until Nov 4th. When we asked someone about it after trying to order, was told it starts tomorrow Final Review: this place went from being the best Indian (for Indians) on the west side to being the worst. We are definitely not coming back.

Yelp
Food was ok. Some of the items we wanted to try were not available. Service was ok; could be better. Ambiance was ok- not great. Tables were mostly for 2 people and very few larger tables were available. Service was not friendly. The robot delivery was more customer oriented!

Yelp
Recently tried Northridge Tulsi, so I wanted to try Westwood Tulsi. First time trying Tulsi thalis. Their menus are quite extensive but we narrowed it down to two thalis, and three other dishes. I don't think I like return. Thalis: You customize your own thali. The veg korma had the best taste out of all the curries we chose. I can recommend the veg korma. The rest of the curries didn't wow us. As far as the dals, the dhaba tadka dal was a simple but tasty dal. Our desserts, ras malai (less sweet) and gulab jamun (more sweet) , were both okay. Overall, I wouldn't eat a Tulsi thali again, simply because there was not much that wowed me. Pav Bhaji: would not recommend. The bhaji didn't have the strong masala and tomato flavors that a bhaji normally does. The pav (bread) was toasted well, but there was no butter on it. Gun Powder Masala Dosa: Generous portion. The coconut chutney is usually my favorite but the chutneys at Tulsi were a disappointment. Very watery. The dough for the dosa was crispy, thin, and well made, as a dosa should be. The potato filling was okay, but a bit salty. Gobi Paratha: The cauliflower was spiced well. The dough was good, too. The achar was really good. I can't say anything about service as we ordered on a tablet and got our food delivered by a robot. The bathroom and dining area were clean. Overall, their menu is quite extensive, and maybe they should limit their menu a bit so they can work on perfecting specific items. However for those that like large menus, I also reviewed their Northridge location, and tried different items there.

Yelp
Pros: 1. Delicious vegan Indian food. Not many places serve dosas, which are one of my favorite things to eat, so I love that I can come here for them. The gunpowder dosa has a kick to it. The masala dosa is always a solid option. The 2-item or 3-item curry combo or the thali combo is a great way to try multiple dishes. I've also tried the kheema tacos (recommend) and the samosas (just ok). Some of the items are better than others. I didn't care for their chai unfortunately. 2. Service is great. Very friendly staff. They gave me a mango lassi while I was waiting for my takeout order. Note that there is a separate area toward the back for pick-up orders. Cons: 1. Parking is not great. There's the Broxton lot which is free for 2 hours before 5pm, $5 flat rate after 5pm. Tulsi is a short walk from the Broxton parking lot. Or drive around and hope you can find a metered spot on the street. 2. Takeout Inconsistent - I usually order takeout, and sometimes, they've forgotten to include the chutneys for the dosas and samosas. My 2-item combo was also missing the raita. Also, if they're busy, there can be a longer wait than the estimated pick up time on their online ordering system. Overall, I'd still recommend Tulsi for yummy vegan Indian food if you're in the area. Discount for UCLA students and staff too!

Yelp
So here is the thing. This is my third time eating here. I kept eating my food before taking a picture so I never wrote a review. So, here it is. Tulsi is by far the BEST Indian restaurant I've tried in Los Angeles! They offer a huge variety of Indian food and flavors at reasonable prices. In fact the naan itself cost only $3! The food is always wonderful. The first time I came, I went with a group of about 12 people, which they were able to accommodate immediately. I tried a little piece of everyone's food, and I'm not kidding when I say that EVERYTHING tasted wonderful. Their Garlic Naan is DELICIOUS, with a semi-crisp, chewy texture and a buttery garlic flavor. Just lovely and wonderful. The samosas taste fantastic! They are not the best I've ever tasted, but they are still really good. I really enjoyed the makhni fries, which tasted great; it's hard to go wrong with loaded fries haha. Overall, the dining experience is cute. You have a small cat robot that delivers your food. And the workers there are neutral, so there are no issues. Not to mention all the food came out in a timely manner hot and fresh. I was surprised by how much heat came from all of the dishes when I bit into them.
google avatar

Alfie W.

Yelp
Decent Indian fare, everything was decent but nothing was really close to exceptional. It's a self ordering place (on screens at the front) that essentially operates as higher end fast food, but in the end the prices aren't terrible.
google avatar

Shradha A.

Yelp
The staff was really nice and accommodating even though they were competing with an adorable delivery robot. We tried the paratha and a couple of chaats. All the food was prepared fresh made to order and you could see the kitchen to feel comforted about hygiene. They were quite lost regarding gluten-free and vegan options and even mislabeled certain items. So definitely do your own analysis before ordering.

Yelp
Horrible food,we visited this place, the food wasn't fresh ,when I asked them to replace the sauce because the yogurt taste horrible they told me this was the last one and they don't have anymore . I don't recommend to waste your money at this place

Yelp
Great meal, but way too much food!!! YAS! Even, for lil miss bottomless pit but great value to share with friends! Great location for these college cheap no tipping kids(it's what I hear and see quite often) I prefer and always have preferred Southern Indian food. Whether it be the spice, the texture, the beloved "dosa" Maybe how you go southern and continue to go south in India and find that while the flavors continue to get spicier they incorporate more floral like roses and orange blossom into their sweet and savory dishes. In a City that is 95% Northern Indian cuisine it's not so easy to find at a casual level, Mayura and Indian Sweet and Spices are some casual favs highly rated so this place right up my alley and local so I'm grateful. Enclosing the name "Tulsi" is very important to my family, as it is the name of my 12 year old niece. My sister went to India and had a life-changing experience with the plant holy basil also known as Tulsi, went on to name her first born. I can't wait to bring her here!!! A dosa is always a good idea!

Yelp
This is my second time coming here, and I enjoyed once again! My favorite things about this place is that there is ample and comfortable seating and there are so many options! This time, my friend and I tried new dishes. I got the paneer tikka tacos and the Tulsi special dosa. I enjoyed both dishes. The tacos had great textures and flavors, but it was incredibly special. The dosa was fun and delicious! This was something I would get again. The mango lassi was tasty - this is my second time getting it. I look forward to coming here again. The robot service is super entertaining to watch, and the staff try their very best to get your food to you as quickly as possible.

Yelp
I have been coming to Tulsi since it first opened in Westwood as I live a couple blocks away and I love Indian food especially in this casual setting with menu choices that are suitable for one person. I ordered one combo meal for myself off of your website with a pick up time to 5:38 As parking is limited outside, I waited in my car until 5:38 and no earlier came inside the restaurant.. my food was not ready. As I asked why my food wasn't ready, I was told I was waiting for Bread. Naan bread. Simple you would think. This should have been made when the food was being made, as by the way, I chef of a restaurant and have a successful catering company and I understand how kitchens work, I know that these curries are premade. And so when my order was being made 'warmed up'. the bread should've been freshly made at the same time since my pick up time was a whole 30 minutes after I made the order. A Whole 15 minutes later, as I timed it and asked for a refund so I could leave as my meter was up, and I did not want to get a ticket, and this was ridiculous, waiting this long for bread, at this point, I don't even want the food anymore because it should've been ready when I got there. It's a simple order and the restaurant was not busy, and there was no large pick up orders at the same time, I saw the computer.. basically, there was no reason for this major delay, besides incompetence of one of the chefs, and I feel the lack of responsibility and concern for the server to deal with this. As my food was ready, and the bread was not, she should have rushed the bread order when I got there, I shouldn't of had to wait that long watching other people get food and bread. Finally I got my food after wanting to leave and wanting a refund. I was extremely frustrated when I left, rushing back to my car, praying that I don't have a ticket. Now, as I got home, I would have not. I've been disappointed if the food had made up for the terrible service, however, my kofta was extremely soggy mushy gross and filled very low like half the usual portion, my eggplant had no eggplant in it, just oily sauce, and my bread somehow after waiting all that time still doughy and undercooked. I didn't eat it. What a waste! Time, energy and money. Wasted. I know everybody has a bad day, but this was not a bad day. This was carelessness and lack of urgency by the chefs and sever. Also, I asked for a refund and I wanted to leave, I honestly just should've gotten my refund if the cashier LISTENED to me that I could not wait as I would've been happier getting my money back instead of getting and anxious waiting for so long to receive this disappointing food To top it off, I ordered a mango lassi that they were out of so I got a berry lassi which was nowhere near as good and taste of much thinner, and watered down than the usual. I saw the server, shaking it up before she gave it to me, and I don't know if she got the proportions offer some thing, but it was not good, and I drank it in 3 sips because it was so thin. What's to have me come back this place with my friends when there are so many good Indian places in the neighborhood? if I'm gonna wait that long for Indian food, I might as well be at an Indian restaurant like India Oven on whilshire.

Yelp
Watch out, it appears some of these reviews are fake, especially when the reviewer has no friends or profile photo and has done hardly any reviews. I can't say this experience was good. All the curries were watered down. It was like going through a series of watery soups. The curry flavors are muted and blah. My order was very delayed and several people got their orders delivered ahead of me, so I had to go ask about my order only to be derided and laughed at. Hmmm, staffing problems here? The menu is ambitious, covering many regions of India but end up not able to deliver. I hope they improve over time as it would be nice to have another regular spot for lunch in Wedtwood.

Yelp
We always found Tulsi a convenient restaurant for good and healthy food. Yesterday to our shock, the menu has been completely replaced with unhealthy options. I will find other healthy options.

Yelp
GOT ROBOT? Tulsi has Robot food servers! Tulsi Indian Eatery is on Lindbrook/Westwood. For a fee, there is a private parking lot across the street and there are limited street meter parking. Tulsi is among the new restaurants to open in Westwood Village. Indoor and outdoor seating at this casual indian food VEGAN restaurant. Opened about three weeks ago, everything inside looked clean, orderly and decor was simple. Was greeted cordially by the current manager, who was informative as it was my first visit. I wanted to sample a few dishes and chose the three curry combo, that includes garlic naan, buttery rice and sambal soup. Also, ordered veggie samosas as well as the crunchy balls of pano puri for appetizers. Everything on the menu is VEGAN, plant based sources to substitute for chicken. Electronic payment was accepted and you take a seat. I amused by the robot server that greeted me, brought out my appetizers and later my entree. Once you take the tray of food out, you must press the 'finish' button so the robot can return back to the kitchen. The pani puri crunchy hallow balls comes with small cups of lentils like beans in a soup base which you can fill the balls with and eat. This was new and different to Me and delightful as an appetizer. The three curry combo I chose: Korma, Tikka masala and eggplant. The sambal soup was in the center of the plastic multi dish tray. Upon tasting each dish, I was mortified that everything was cold, not temperature hot. This is a major faux pas and inedible for Me, I don't want to get sick. The sambal soup was cold, the Korma was not creamy rich and was barely warm, the tikka masala tasted too acidic, the vegan chicken was rubbery and was barely warm, the eggplant curry was too acidic, watery and barely warm, the rice was cold...All a disappointment cold mess which was not suitable for eating. The garlic naan bread was thinner than expected, more of a cracker texture. The veggie samosas were decent but not firm and warm just slightly warm to the touch. Everything I ordered was not heated properly. I did not have the time to return the foods back to the kitchen for a redo or warmed up. I was NOT happy spending $$$ for inedible substandard food. I didn't want to bother by complaining but the food preparation is dismal. I really wanted to support this new business, especially since I like indian food and was open to try new indian dishes but not by subjecting my health because of food NOT prepared properly...the food earns 1 star. Service from the host was very nice and helpful. He noticed I didn't eat much of the meal as he brought out the boxes. Boxed the food just to discard outside :( The interactive robot server was amusing. The restaurant was tidy. Electronic payments accepted. The menu offered interesting dishes from different regions of India which all sounded delish. Perhaps you will have your food prepared properly and piping hot. Unfortunately, when the only items I was able to enjoy are the appetizers and the mango lassi yogurt drink, I probably will not return to sample the rest of the menu.

Yelp
1st time and will not be back. We ordered and kept waiting, and waiting. We watched the person who took our order sit down and eat her meal. My partner got his meal, ate half of it while I'm still waiting. Other patrons who ordered food after us, then started recieving their food? I asked the manager what was happening, 5 minutes later I received my trio, she said "they were waiting on my garlic Naan" I started eating, my food was luke warm, so I guess mu foods was just sitting back there, waiting for the garlic naan? During all this, the cooks kept ringing the bell over and over and thy were all laughing, and the "manager" kept asking them to stop, but laughing with them. $46 for a bad experience and Luke warm food? I can't imagine this is how the owners want this business model to run!

Yelp
Great food and great service. So full, couldn't finish everything. Great for lunch tomorrow. You can't beat the price either, $15 for 3 curries, rice, naan, soup.

Yelp
Tulsi Indian Eatery is a welcome addition to Westwood. It has wonderful variety of Indian cuisine and great place for delicious plant-based meals. The service is quick and friendly. There is 2hr free parking before 6pm on Broxton and meters all throughout Westwood. For the food: Tulsi has affordable lunch specials. For $10, you can get curry entree + side of rice or naan. I appreciate the tactile experience of the Masala Dosa and Pani Puri Shots. Everything is flavorful - some dishes have a spicy kick. This should be a must-try place for all Bruins - with so many options, you can keep going back and trying something new.

Yelp
Food was so good!!! Honestly might look small but all the portions were very filling. Totally forgot what my boyfriend got (the dumpling looking food) but that sauce needs to be BOTTLED. Walking distance from a free parking lot so pretty chill. I loved my kathi roll and had pretty unique flavors.

Yelp
Food is delish. The dosa is a must try. Order up front and food is delivered on robots. Staff super nice.

Yelp
Everything was perfect and tasty. New recipes and flavours are the best. Specially there infusions

Yelp
Happy this place opened up in Westwood! Most other Indian restaurants nearby are a little pricey, so it's nice to have something simple and affordable. The food is pretty standard for the price range, portions are generous and it was very flavorful. The curry combos come with lime pickles in addition to yogurt which is nice to see. It does seem a bit understaffed, so I hope they have are able to get help if they need it. You may be using self checkout and have your food brought out by a very charming robot, kinda fun. One complaint: the vegan options should be labeled more clearly. It's advertised as vegan but many things are not unless you ask (or simply can't be vegan). A menu update would be appreciated! Especially if it's self checkout.

Yelp
Delicious vegetarian Indian food without skimping on quality and flavor. This place has great staff, wonderful variety and a lovely dining hall. We order take out and simply live it. The dishes take a little too long to come out but it is because they are cooking things from scratch. It's a great value for tasty food.

Yelp
We had the vegetable buffet and the food was quite good. Would like to see the servers keep it better stocked. We had a nice booth in the back and it was quiet and comfortable. The Garlic Nan was the best. Came out warm and generous portions. It's worth a try.

Yelp
What an amazing place! The dosa is the one to get. I think the regular one is spicy -- haven't tried the gun powder version. I would stay away from the veggie biriyani, at least not my tastes. Stick to the South Indian side of the menu. Place is fast, clean, and service is friendly.

Yelp
I didn't like this place. The food did not taste good to me and I'm a HUGE Indian food fan. Also their menu lacked descriptions of what each item were. What I disliked the most about this place is that they have hard plastic plates and bowls as opposed to ceramic which is healthier. If you don't know putting hot food in plastic kitchenware is not good because the chemicals leach into the food. I asked for a ceramic plate alternative and they didn't have any. I also thought the food was over priced considering a robot brings the food to you. The people working there are nice though and they are open to answering any questions.

Yelp
We ordered Dum Biryani, Chole Bhatura and Samosa chat. Biryani was dry and very less in quantity. Yogurt which was given with biryani was just two tablespoons. It's better not to give to your customer Chole Bhatura was tasteless. Bhatura was way thick. The only thing we liked was the Samosa chat. Worst experience

Yelp
A great new casual restaurant in Westwood! They have such a large menu with a variety of traditional and modern Indian dishes. Everything is vegetarian, and they have tons of vegan and gluten-free options too. The portions are large and everything is very reasonably priced. This is an easy spot for groups and good to either sit down for a bite or take-out.

Yelp
Terrible establishment- we reached at 8:15 pm but they refused to serve us even though their website states they close at 9 pm - asked for the manager but she refused us the courtesy of coming out to meet us

Yelp
The food is absolutely the best I've had in a while and added to that an intelligent robot serving it!! Excellent service automation - ambience isn't all that bad.

Yelp
Great eatery, perfect for the dime and very affordable. Would certainly recommend to Indians and non Indians alike as all food is very mildly spiced. Very friendly and courteous staff. Portions are quite decent and can be shared. We ordered one Veg. biryani which didn't taste like biryani but could easily be sold as a fried rice. One makki roti (pretty good, excellently made) with Saag(needs lot of work, tasted like some paste) Spicy veggie momo Manchurian - can be kicked up a notch if it's Manchurian and spicy. Very bland and flat. Baby friendly. 5 pieces for $10(over priced I felt). Thali - plenty to eat for the price you pay, economical. Most items that were listed on the menu were not there which sucks. Overall it's a hit or miss, but besides what the menu announces, and if we keep a clear mind: Food is good enough and we won't come back sobbing with growling stomachs :)

Yelp
Great food at reasonable price. At the heart of LA downtown. Enjoyed having snacks with friends there.

Yelp
I've been meaning to try dosa and pani puri for a while and was happy to find out that Tulsi had them on the menu (and recently opened up shop in Westwood). I am no Indian food connoisseur and I don't believe in "authenticity", so I can't say anything about how authentic this place is. What I can say is that I thoroughly enjoyed both dishes, especially the crispy dosa with a fermented tang. It came with a number of dipping sauces and a tomato stew; the coconut chutney was my favorite sauce. My one small complaint is that the liquid you pour into the pani puri is on the sweeter side, but it was a refreshing appetizer nonetheless.

Yelp
I just have to say that I was super excited to eat here, and I had ordered the gunpowder dosa and the idli sambar. The dosa was way too crispy, and I could not even eat it with the potatoes stuffing inside. The idli was way too dense and to be honest I did not enjoy my meal. The coconut chutney was very watery and flavorless. The sambar was probably the best part of the meal, but that too wasn't the best. I would most likely not be back and could easily say that this is probably not the best Indian food you could get in the area. The service was good and the restaurant had plenty of seating. Parking was easy as well.

Yelp
Service is still very friendly. Coffee is good. Unfortunately, they are no longer all vegetarian, and the vegetarian food that is available is hit or miss. The bhatura is good, but chole is just ok. I didn't enjoy pav bhaji, and it used to be delicious. Idli sambar is ok, samosa not as good as before, but not bad. It's unfortunate, because I used to rely on this place. I didn't want to give less than 3 stars because the girl at the counter was very friendly and helpful, the food came out quickly, and maybe people who eat meat may like it.

Yelp
Westwood has good Indian food now! :) The food is good, the vibe is comfortable and the service is fast. The South Indian food here is clearly a showstopper but the chaats and appetizers are pretty good too. Super reasonable and good portion size! 8/10
