"Whenever friends ask me where to take out-of-towners, I point them to this cozy neighborhood restaurant. While the menu features influences ranging from Japan to the Levant, the flavors are distinctly Tucson thanks to the mesquite-fire-centric kitchen and hyper-local ingredients like quince from Mission Garden, a local living agricultural museum. Order all the small plates to share and definitely save room for the sublime passion fruit panna cotta." - ByJackie Tran

"To balance out the carne asada now coursing through your veins, head toTumericofor a veg-only experience. The order here is the al pastor tacos, made with jackfruit instead of pork. The flavor so resembles the real deal, I must have asked at least three times, “Are you sure there isn’t any meat in this?” Split an order of the guacamole empanadas because obviously guacamole stuffed inside dough is a good thing. And yes, there is kombucha on tap." - ByCarey Polis

With all vegan Mexican cuisine we were literally in the best possible place to have dinner. Excellent menu and we tried only a couple of items and loved them. Personally, I never had Cuban Tacos before. Interesting but good tasteful tacos they are. The Tamale have a bite to them and are excellent for someone like me who loves spicy food. The salad bar has few sauces, roasted jalapenos and cucumber for the sides. Awesome indeed. The spicy latte isn't for me though but I guess it will have it's takers.

Tumerico is an absolute gem! We stopped here during our road trip to LA and were blown away by the fresh, flavorful food and the cozy, welcoming atmosphere. As a vegan and vegetarian restaurant, it truly stands out with its creative and delicious menu options. Everything we tried was made with care and bursting with flavor. The staff was incredibly friendly, making the experience even better. If you’re in Tucson, don’t miss this spot—it’s a refreshing and delightful find!

Google
I enjoy cuisine using red and white meats, I doubt that I will ever choose a vegetarian diet. However, the cuisine at Tumerico rivals any of the similar dishes I've eaten that use some type of meat. The flavors are amazing; the right combination of subtle, strong, sharp, not overwhelming. The sauces are incredible! I'd go back just to try more or different sauces. The service is good, but they can get overwhelmed at times, because so many people love eating here. This is a great place to bring family and friends, local or out-of-towners.

Google
This was an interesting experience. It's more Mexican food than it is vegetarian but it was still pretty yummy. You have to order the meal at the counter first and then you're seated. The billing prices aren't very clear either and it was $25 a person. There was no one there so it was pretty fast service but they forgot the extra jack fruit my dad requested at first and we had to get up and ask for some. There's a play area for kids in the back I think but it feels more like we're in someone's home. The drinks are delicious!

Google
Tumerico has some of the best food I've ever gotten from a restaurant in my life. We tried the tacos al pastor and the all powers burrito. Both were unbelievably amazing. The jackfruit in the taco was tender, juicy, and exceptional. The burrito was packed and perfectly crispy on the outside. This is the type of food that you will reminisce about often. There's also a nice salsa bar with good sauces and roasted jalapenos. The staff were all incredibly nice as well. I highly suggest going here.

Google
Tumerico is simply amazing. We entered and was greeted immediately Kyla. She was so kind, she asked if it was first time there. Then proceeded to explain the menu and which items were Vegan. The place was very busy but we received our food quickly. A couple different employees checked on us. They were all very nice I didn’t get their names though. The food was awesome. It was fresh and amazing. Tumerico will definitely be on our rotation of restaurants. If you’re vegan you’re going to love the options. The atmosphere was top notch. See you soon and thank you for providing great vegan food.

Google
The food here is always flavorful and the texture is really good. Sometimes vegan food can be very bland and the consistency is often too soft in my opinion. That is not the case here. I've been twice and had two different dishes. I've also got the sunrise juice both times I'm thoroughly enjoyed it. All the food is fresh and it comes out quick and hot. And while the atmosphere is somewhat plain I appreciate all the seating and the fact that there are no flies in this establishment. For anyone else that has eaten at restaurants in this area people leave the doors open and flies inevitably get in no matter what. It can be frustrating to dine inside but I have never experienced that frustration here.

I come here about once a month usually because I have friends visiting from out of town. And I want them to eat the amazing food. Super friendly staff and the food is delicious.

Yelp
An icon! When visiting Tucson for a week, my wife and I decided to eat here and their sister restaurant (La Chaiteris) 3 times! Not only is this the best vegan/vegetarian food I have had in a very long time, it is some of the best Mexican food you can find in the US! They often banch out in different styles, but their Mexican cuisine is so lovely. Between the few times that my wife and I ate there, the highlight was absolutely the vegan tamales. So incredibly unique, rich and flavorful I will be dreaming about them for many months to come. With olives, jackfruit carnitas, jalapenos, your mind will be blown! There isn't a bad food item on the menu, and if you want to level up, add the Tumerico lemonade on the side. A fantastic combination of ginger turmeric and lemon to die for. Their menu rotates daily, so you may never be bored of being a regular. I can tell you if I lived nearby I would keep this one on heavy rotation.

Yelp
The food was good, but nothing to write home about. I liked that you got the little sides of rice, beans, salad, and guac with the entrees. The food was tasty, perhaps worth the price, but definitely not worth the hype, nor the best in the country. My biggest issue is their 5999 MISCELLANEOUS & SPECIALTY STORES merchant coding via Mastercard. Rather than 3x points on food purchases their merchant code (which Tumerico chooses themselves) means only 1x points. Seems minor, but feels like some kind of fraud/being cheated.

Jocelyn A.

Yelp
Tumerico was my favorite restaurant on a recent trip to Tucson. It was so good, in fact, that we went twice. The namesake Tumerico Lemonade has a generous amount of tumeric and is reason alone for going to the restaurant. The pictures don't do the food justice, It is incredibly flavorful and complex. When they say an item is spicy, they mean it, which was a welcomed change from some of the bland food we ate at other Tucson institutions. Our favorite was the tamale plate, but this is one of those spicy items that isn't for the faint of heart. The portions here are very generous, with every item coming with rice, beans and a delicious little side salad. You will be too full for dessert, but you should get the soy tres leches cake anyways. Even if you aren't a vegetarian, you should add Tumerico to your Tucson bookmark list!

Yelp
Well, after hearing so much & being 'late to the party' I had to see what the fuss is all about, especially as a former vegan who relocated from a city known for health food (PDX). Our Tumerico meals were conceptually creative though the 'meat replacement' - al pastor and barbacoa, (though I'll give the barbacoa slightly beat out the pastor) tasted pretty close to the same. The plates looked appetizing to the eye & tasted good for Mexican vegan fare. I did like the ever changing chalkboard menu, was less fond of how terribly cold it was inside for December. The chilly dining room made the food cold in record time which prob didn't help the flavor profile. Service was good, but not great and atmosphere was unremarkable. Best part was my coffee and a GF cookie. Overall, I would try again (and bring a coat!) and add more salsa from the self serve bar!

Jenn C.

Yelp
The sweetest staff that greet you and guide you through the menu. They do not have a fixed menu so the options change daily so you know that they really care about the food quality. This place expanded in the past few years so there is plenty of seating across the rooms. Water and hot sauce is self serve so you can get all of the different things that you need. We got the tamales and they were so good. I love a good tamale and the fact all plates include salad, rice, and beans makes sure you are completely full leaving this place. I really appreciated that this place is completely vegan and that they are the kindest people who really do care.

Mark A.

Yelp
Tumerica is a little barebones no glare no ambiance to speak of. It kind of reminds me of a cafeteria in a nursing home. That being said the food is really good, especially for vegetarian food. My burrito was delicious and my friend liked the tika. I've eaten here a few times before and I thought I had written a review already. I don't think about coming here because it's outside my normal range. One thing it's nondescript, you can drive by and not notice it. When I get the food I'm always happy with it, but I'm not a vegetarian so I don't seek it out.just to note the bill adds up quick. But for a fresh meal it's a deal.

Audrey M.

Yelp
Stopped in on a bad day, which added to it. I didn't realize it was vegan until I waited and saw the menu. So I ordered a breakfast burrito with eggs. It was flavorless and terrible. Greasy with seed oils I'm sure. The people were very nice and the place was clean, although lacks serious ambiance. $25 for a burrito and very small iced tea, plus tip. Unfortunately, it just wasn't good enough for me to ever venture back.

Yogini N.

Yelp
Service is always great. The place feels small and is often busy and loud. Most importantly, the food is mediocre. I cook veggies all the time and it tastes way better. There spices combinations are off for my palette. I have a hard time finding food that works for me there. It supposed to be healthy but their food combos are not great for digestion. And I don't resonate with the tastes either. I keep going back thinking I'll like it because most people I know do enjoy their food and I'm always disappointed. I leave feeling I've wasted my money and I don't want to finish my food. It's way over priced for what it is.

Mikey S.

Yelp
10/10 service, extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff. There's salsas are all very flavorful, featuring a variety of heat levels.

Jessica P.

Yelp
This place was awesome! They've opened up walkways into multiple rooms for seating. They had a bright and friendly atmosphere. We loved the Anthony Bourdain painting on the wall. I love a flavorful vegetarian option. While most of their dishes are vegetarian, they happened to have tamales that had real carnitas in them. I ordered a cup of pozole soup which was yummy and perfect for a cold night. I also ordered the carnitas tamales which were the best tamales I've had in Tucson so far. The plate was filled with colorful sides that left me feeling full and healthy (side salad, black beans, rice, and guacamole). For a drink I ordered the fresh pressed sweet sunrise juice which had pineapple apple carrots, turmeric, and cucumber. It was delicious! My boyfriend also enjoyed their taco plate. I will definitely be back!

Erin D.

Yelp
This little place is tucked into a small strip of shops down by the University of Arizona. I've actually driven by it quite a few times and never stopped. We finally decided to stop in and try it out. When we walked in someone greeted us and went over the menu items with us, they explained the difference between all of the tacos and told us all of the proteins were made from jackfruit. We both ordered the spicy taco plate. It was really good. We also added a couple of the Cuban tacos on the side. Both were good but the Al Pastor tacos were my favorite. They were nice and spicy. If you're in Tucson, I'd give this place a shot.

Seb C.

Yelp
Friendly people, amazing menu, nice atmosphere (love the original art all over the place) and reasonably priced for what you get. This is my first time in Tucson and I was fortunate enough to have stopped in here for lunch with a pal. We had tamales and huevos rancheros topped off by a horchata latte. Thank you!!

Suzette S.

Yelp
Dined after supporting Tour De Tucson and was not disappointed. No line nor wait and customer service was great. Food excellent presentation w/ flavor and portions. Ambiance, friendly and good energy. Our 3rd visit and will continue. We ordered dessert to go vegan tres leches and strawberry/lemon cake.

Gary K.

Yelp
Great food and ambiance! I wish the food was a bit spicier, but I liked it. Will come back whenever I'm in Tucson.

Chanele R.

Yelp
I feel that my review suffers from the hype. Going in and knowing the accolades, I expected to be blown away. I was left feeling like it was fine, good even, but not best in the country good. I had Cuban tacos (unsure what made them Cuban - they were just jackfruit tacos) with beans, rice, and salad on the side. It was all... fine. (Except the salad, which I didn't care for and can't quite place my finger on.) I suppose I have had a lot of vegan food in my life, so my standards are different, but I have definitely had better vegan tacos (and in Arizona even). Would I go back? Sure, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Steve V.

Yelp
I've only been once, however I'd like to give them another shot. I say this as my expectations were very high based on other reviews and what people have told me about the place. I'm an omnivore, so the veggie and vegan heavy menu didn't scare me. It just wasn't "wow worthy" when compared to the other mexican options in town.

Amanda H.

Yelp
SO GOOD! My mom and I are not vegan and we love coming here. We always leave full and feeling so good and not heavy. The food is just so flavorful, their "meat" is delicious. Who knew that jackfruit could be so amazing, I can't praise it enough. Let's also talk about their drinks, you can't go wrong..ever. I highly recommend their turmeric lemonade! It is a little bit on the pricey-er side but you get FRESH, LOCALLY SOURCED food and great proportions. I honestly love that about this place.

Anh N.

Yelp
Just visiting from Seattle to bicycle around. I ate at Tumerico 3x in a span of 7 days. If their hours matched up with our rides, I would've been there every single day. The place itself is really cute and very spacious. The customer service was top notch and everyone was so welcoming. You really feel like you're at home. My favorite was seeing the owner Wendy work her butt off with a smile. She also asked me "how was it?". I had to tell her it was so good! But also I was so star struck... With all that being said, I loved everything I ate. It can't really go wrong. I loved my Cuban tacos and the burritos! The coffee too was so good too. I got their regular latte and it tasted like it had a lil chocolate in it and cinnamon. I don't even know how to explain it. It was so good!

Diana C.

Yelp
Amazing tacos!!! If I lived in Tuscon, I'd come here all the time. These are really good! The horchata was also amazing. The service was really helpful and kind too. The ambiance is kinda fun and open and colorful. Highly recommend!

Kim M.

Yelp
We've been hearing about Tumerico for a couple of years and finally made it! Let me tell you, it lives up to the hype! Not much of an interior; basic tables and chairs, walk up counter service, and self-serve water and salsas. The cashier was super helpful and enthusiastically endorsed several menu items - she definitely influenced our choices of the potato tacos and vegan tamales - WOW! The tamales were packed with spicy jackfruit and accompanied by beans, rice, guacamole, and a few bites of a small salad. The tacos were crispy and delicious, accompanied by the same sides - delish! Definitely not a fancy date night spot, but we will be back and plan to also try their other location which also has some meat options!

Cade H.

Yelp
No meat, No problem! I resisted eating here (I really like meat), but my wife dragged me in a while back to try it. It was good enough that I suggested our second trip in. I was surprised how flavorful the food was even with no meat. I'm impressed! It doesn't replace meat, but it is its own unique delicious food. The Tamales are fantastic. 3rd best tamales I have ever had and those rank amongst meat tamales. All the ingredients are fresh and tasty. A negative was the self serve water that was warm. It was 108 degrees outside and drinking warm room temperature water was a damper on the experience. The horchata was not best I have had. I wouldn't get it again especially because of its price to size ratio.

Jessica W.

Yelp
Amazing! Art on the walls, murals, and amazing food? YES! It's really awesome to walk into a place and see the owner in the back with everyone else. This place was recommended to me by multiple people recently. I had a daily special and the person I was with ordered off the menu. Wow. I am blown away at the flavors! Love the addition of a small salad to the plate. I will 100% be back and recommend this as well! As someone who loves cheese but is lactose intolerant, I didn't have a lack of flavor in my meal. Well done chef!

PJ H.

Yelp
What a great dining experience. Greeted with a joyful smile and explaining the menu both printed and specials on the wall! The food was fresh flavorful and beautifully presented in a timely fashion! Coconut curry with yellow curry base, potatoes, etc. Flavorful, not HOT..don't let the curry scare you on this! Yummy and plentiful! Cuban tacos..OMG! Repeat in a heartbeat! Not a Mexican taco..a clear Cuban combo and well worth the deep dive. Three tacos, rice and beans! The horchata was a yummy drink to complement the meal. My dining partner had the green goddess smoothie, which was fiber filled and a lot to tackle with a large plate of food, but still flavorful! Step outside your dining box and make the visit! Relaxed atmosphere, salsa bar, Frido Kholo themed walls and a signed tray with Guy Fieri's signature...truly a special place!

Dawn M.

Yelp
Looking for authentic Mexican flavors? Come here for all your eats! Hands down, the BEST chilaquiles I've ever eaten! Wow. What can I say, you just know when you get that first bite. For me, it was the red sauce, the semi crispy tortillas, and perfectly poached egg on top. The rice and beans were also a hit because most places don't service it together with the meal. Very filling! I also enjoyed a nice cup of horchata latte. Hit the spot x10! Lastly, the staff were awesome. One of the ladies explained the menu to us and offered their own suggestions. We went with their top 2! Plenty of seating. Parking might be tricky because it's on a street with parking is right off the road. We were lucky and got a spot right in front. I'd come back again!!! Thank you!!!

Arlene L.

Yelp
AMAZING flavors!! Cannot believe this food is all vegan/vegetarian!? Such a cool concept, seems like authentic Mexican food and flavors but vege options! Staff is so kind, friendly and knowledgeable. Inside is super casual, almost like a casual, street taco vibe. Always pretty busy but usually able to find seating without an issue. Have already been multiple times and usually make a trip whenever I visit Tucson!

Palak S.

Yelp
The food is AMAZING! Such delicious, fresh, flavorful food. We ordered the Cuban tacos and the mole enchiladas. Both were so tasty! The mole sauce is chocolate forward, but still so good. Very impressive how the filling is all vegan! The sauces are also super flavorful and complemented the entrees well. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. It is a little pricey for a non-sit down restaurant (about $15-17/plate). Spacious seating area. Would definitely go back!

James T.

Yelp
I got to take my friend for lunch at Tumerico. It was his first time and he has some food allergies, but Tumerico has some many delicious options there were so many choices for him. They've expanded since my last visit and there's lots of seating available. The staff are always friendly and helpful in explaining their menu. Love that they serve breakfast all day, but we ended up going with the Cuban tacos and a tamale plate. They were very tasty and the sides of rice, beans and salad really rounded out the meal. We were both quite full, but since the food was mainly vegan we didn't feel heavy or bloated. If you're looking for a healthy and tasty option in Tucson any of their locations is a great choice

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
Amazing vegetarian food! Friendly people! Good vibes! We tried a daily special and the cuban tacos, don't skip out on the salsa either!

Stephanie V.

Yelp
We tried Tumerico @tumerico when we were in Tucson, AZ these past two days. This restaurant won No. 1 Top Place to Eat in America 2024 by Yelp! and has numerous rave reviews from many different sources, including Guy Fieri. We walked in wondering if it would be as good as we have heard. We were not disappointed. It is not all hype. These are facts. This is a vegan and vegetarian restaurant, but I think that anybody would enjoy the food here, no matter if pure carnivore to a complete vegan. It's just a nice sidenote to enjoy. Our food was amazingly flavorful. We all wolfed our food down and couldn't believe how delicious it was. Other than having tasty food, they also have a café and fresh squeeze juice bar so all of our needs were met at this one lunch stop. We ordered: -Sweet Potato Flautas -Chilorio Sopes -Chimichurri Tacos -Cup of Pozole -Green Goddess Smoothie -Sweet Sunrise Fresh Juice -Hot Vanilla Oat Latte Service here was very amazing and extra thorough. When we ordered, I let the server know that I was allergic to ginger, cashews, and rice, after she asked me about it. She made sure that my plate would have none of these food items. Food is brought to the table and we were checked on regularly. The restaurant is broken up into three areas- the entrance where you order, then there is a middle seating area that has gender neutral, restrooms, and a child play area in the back and a third section with more seating by the window or deeper in the restaurant. Fresh tortillas are served in the refrigeration case that use no preservatives, alongside bottled juices, soda and water.

Wenjun K.

Yelp
Since the review is so high, I went there with a friend to find out what's special about this place,we ordered three things half and half to share: 1 Frida Kahlo tostadas 1 chili relleno 1 chorizo con papas burrito The Frida kahlo tostadas and chorizo burrito are tasting pretty good, and the portion is decent, I would definitely go for them again. But for chili relleno, to be honest, I don't get the point, seems flavorless, that means the pepper is not spicy at all, I may switch it into something else if I order again. I do like the environment, it looks small from outside at the door, but it's surprisingly large inside, simple and neat, one of my favorite thing about this restaurant. The serving time is also pretty quick. Generally, I recommend this place, at least give it a try.

Jeffrey A.

Yelp
Delicious food, quick service, nice low-key ambiance. The nopalitos plate was amazing, as was the posole soup. Also had the cardamom latte and turmeric lemonade, both of which were great. Highly recommended as a casual lunch spot.

Nicolas L.

Yelp
I recently visited Tumerico (Yelp's #1 Restaurant in 2024) for lunch. I had the Cubano Tacos. The tacos were tasty and filled with juicy smokey tender "plant based" filling and creamy avocado. My wife had the Al Pastor Tacos which were similar to the Cubano but with more spiciness. I also had an horchata which was sweet, flavorful and milky with a nice cinnamon flavor. Overall, a nice stop for lunch.

Kathy N.

Yelp
Tumerico was my coworkers choice for her birthday lunch. I have been to the sister restaurant La Chaiteria so kind of thought it would be the same with vegan/vegetarian choices as well as meat. To my surprise it's all vegan/vegetarian! I ordered the Cuban tacos which were very tasty. I believe they are made with jackfruit. The tacos are served along with black beans, some yellow rice, pico de gallo and salad greens dressed with a tasty salad dressing. I dressed my tacos with the different salsas from the small salsa bar and still didn't get the heat I was looking for so I added some Tapatio to my tacos. I also had a horchata which was delicious. Coworkers had Cuban tacos, potato tacos, vegan machaca served with eggs. No one complained and we all ate everything! The place is kind of no-frills - you order at the counter and take a number. Food is then delivered to your seat. Kind of sparse inside with not much decor and uncomfortable chairs. I wanted to love this place as much as I love La Chaiteria but I don't. It's really good, just not the same for me.

Jason M.

Yelp
Everything on the menu sounds delicious! I went with the employee's recommendation and ordered the Cuban Tacos. Instead of pork, the carnitas are made with jackfruit. It was quite tasty! The sweet vinaigrette they put on the salad complemented the tacos really well! The staff were very welcoming and helpful. I appreciated the ambiance as well, there were some cool murals and art for sale on the walls. There are some parking spots in front of the restaurant. We didn't have trouble finding a spot in front at 9:30 AM. Not sure if you can also park in the lot across the street. Yes, I would come back! Yes, I would recommend!

Laurie C.

Yelp
What can I say? Tumerico is internationally recognized (deservedly so) for its vegetarian offerings, which are a symphony of flavors. They don't take reservations so pick a time when it's off peak or plan to wait in line. The atmosphere leaves a bit to be desired with plain tables and too-bright lighting, but the food is the best around.

Caitlin G.

Yelp
So excited to make a review for Tumerico. This was my second time enjoying their grub. Service was quick and efficient like the first time. I ordered the tortas which were decent. I enjoyed the beans and rice the best but was glad to get some veggies into my system. Always a pleasure to dine!

Kristy B.

Yelp
Glad we went. Food was interesting and when asked, we received extra tortillas at no charge. We were a party of 3 and all enjoyed our lunch.

Madison C.

Yelp
Delicious food with fresh flavors. Very colorful and eye appealing with their ingredients. Quick service and a clean environment.

Bailey M.

Yelp
The line wasn't too long to order. I was very overwhelmed by the menu since nothing is posted online and there isn't really a full description. I know this is partially because their menu changes daily. I asked them for recommendations. I had one of their daily specials which was a potato taco. It was mashed potatoes in a taco with guacamole, pico de galo, and cheese on top. It just tasted like a lot of carbs to me. The rice and beans served on the side were delicious. I also really enjoyed the chocolate chip cookie.

Christina Z.

Yelp
Easy to see why Tumerico has topped multiple Yelp lists - the food and drinks are flavorful, and they are good at what they do. The menu rotates based on seasonality so the food tastes fresh. My favorite dish is the Frida Kahlo tostadas which features mushrooms, zucchini, and guacamole - light yet filling and comes with a side of salad, beans, and rice. They also offer a wide selection of lattes - my go-to is the horchata latte, but if I'm looking for a bit of a spicy kick, recommend the mole latte. If you're looking to eat more plant-based/vegetarian/vegan, Tumerico is the place for you.

Alex B.

Yelp
The #1 rating is no joke. Definitely lives up to the rating. Service, assistance, food quality, cleanliness was all 11/10

Brittany T.

Yelp
Had to stop by this place during our time in Tucson after seeing it top Yelps Top 100 Places to Eat list! We stopped by on a Sunday mid-morning and it was already pretty crowded! It looks like they've expanded their seating a few times now so they have a few separate seating areas which is great because we didn't have to wait for a table even though it was fairly crowded. We ordered at the counter: horchata latte, green goddess smoothie, potato tacos, and tamales plate. I also grabbed a couple of goodies from a small bakery case: almond joy cookie and the apple scone The service was fast for what felt like a pretty busy Sunday, although the drinks took longer than the food which is always a little strange. The tamales and tacos were tasty but my only issue was they were both a little cold. I don't expect everything to be made to order but I would have liked it all to be warm considering it came out so quickly. But, the tacos were tasty and the tamales were topped with this yummy vegan crema. I love when plant based flavors can still pack a punch. The highlight for me though was the pastries! Whoever is making these deserves a raise. I definitely enjoyed the tacos, don't get me wrong, but my sweet tooth is already craving another almond joy cookie!! Hope to be back soon!

Alex J.

Yelp
Tumerico is #1 for a reason. Excellent service, food, and, atmosphere. Make sure to read the street signs so that you're parking in the right place. Sometimes the church nearby has food drives on Thursday afternoons so it can be busier then.

Roger M.

Yelp
I'm a foodie from Portland OR with high expectations, when I heard about Tumerico plant based menu. When I popped in, a server stepped forward to greet me - I liked that. And she asked me if I have eaten here. Nope - so I need ya give me a menu tour. She was awesome. I asked her for a recommendation. She said try the taco plate with a spicy cuban and an al pastor taco with rice, beans, greens, guacamole and cashew cream - topped off with cilantro garlic sauce. Actually all the servers were really fired up on how good the plant based menu options are. I talked to a few while clicking some pics. Hey - Food Network star and chef Guy Fieri ate here (and he is a meat first "guy," pun intended) and loved it too! Turmerico was featured in one of Guy's episodes. Order walk up - easy peasy! Food out in 10 minutes approximately. It was plated and looked scrumptious. The tacos are made of jack fruit and looked like carnitas. Texture looked like carnitas too. It was so delicious! I could not believe I was eating plant based and not meat. Even if you are a meat lover, I bet you love the jack fruit tacos too. A meal never tasted so satisfying when I was done. I purchased a small tub of cashew cream to go home. Did Tumerico meet my expectations? You bet - exceeded my "expect-taste-ins" by a mile. Great food and service with a convivial vibe inside.

Yelp
Visited Tumerico because we heard they have the best vegan tacos in town! Spacious restaurant with plenty of street parking surrounding the place. Staff were very kind and food came pretty quickly! Water and salsa is self serve. There is no meat on the premises, but they do offer egg and some cotija cheese if you'd like :) Cuban Tacos (2) - made from jackfruit! Tastes almost exactly like meat but with a hint of sweetness. Beans, rice, and salad with each meal was really good! The rice is loaded with tomatoes and some other veggies like broccoli, everything we ate felt really healthy which is a plus! Potato Tacos (3) - I would highly recommend these tacos! The shell itself was fried perfectly and it really complemented the mashed potato. Generous, refreshing guacamole tops it off. Frida Khalo tostada (2) - I tried to eat this first so the tostada can be eaten while crispy! Due to the veggies and mushrooms on top, it's definitely a little more watery than the rest but it was still yummy if you're a fan of mushrooms and zucchini's. I also ordered an animal cracker scone to go and it was pretty good! Tasted mainly like strawberry but can be sweet for some. The scone texture was nice and soft and crumbly.

Yelp
Interesting place. Truly arizona character--ate a cactus dish, fermented pineapple juice, sweet potato tamales. Very casual, rooms were kind of institutional, dark, no outside seating. Side salad phenomenal. Would go again. Four and 1/2 stars.

Yelp
Worth the hype, especially for those unsure about a vegetarian spot! I was not sure what to order, since I really enjoy slow-roasted meats and was concerned the mushroom/jackfruit/tempeh alternatives. After chatting with the waiter, who told me that she orders the ropa vieja plate every shift, I figured that was an order to trust! I should not have been concerned, because Everything we ordered was fantastic! Not just "fantastic for a vegetarian spot," but unequivocally delicious flavors and textures! Honestly, if I didn't know they were a vegetarian restaurant, I would not have known I wasn't eating meat! The ropa vieja was well-seasoned and succulent. The texture was perfect and the assorted accompaniments of rice, refried beans, cotija cheese, fresh pico de Gallo, guacamole and marinated salad with sprouts made the entire plate feel fresh and extremely healthy. We also ordered the huevos rancheros, which was everything we were hoping for- a nice mix of scrambled eggs, beans, pico de gallo, a generous coating of (mildly spicy) sauce and cotija cheese. We also ordered a kids quesadilla, which was large enough to satisfy two, very picky, five-year-olds. Overall, it was a great experience for the entire family! **For families with small children: This location also has a great kids area in the back, in case you need to keep the littles entertained while you finish your meal!**
