Asian-inspired American small plates featuring crispy pork and snow crab noodles

"Asian flavors make their way onto American small plates at this East Village restaurant from Thomas Chen with one star. The $69 Berkshire pork for two with crisp skin, spicy peanut noodle, and assorted condiments remains the main event." - Eater Staff

"Classically trained Chef Thomas Chen is the one to thank for the fabulous Tuome. It's an Asian-inspired menu, which is no surprise as the chef is a master of weaving together ingredients to delicious and surprising effect. The intimate space is outfitted with a backlit bar, bay windows, and comfortable purple seats. Service is fittingly unfussy yet deeply knowledgeable. Don’t miss the seared octopus served atop pork XO sauce or the lamb chops, served perfectly medium rare and finished with a shishito chimichurri, black pepper jus, and a dollop of onion soubise. Finally, deep-fried buns which arrive as Chinese “beignets” accompanied by vanilla ice cream laced with red bean paste, goat's milk caramel, and yuzu marmalade render dessert wholly unmissable." - Michelin Inspector
"Deviled eggs, fluke crudo, steak tartare, and octopus. You’ve heard this song before - but Tuome plays it a little differently. This is a little, Asian-influenced restaurant in lower Alphabet City where the deviled eggs come crispy and the chicken liver mousse has a pool of maple syrup on top. Come here for high-quality food in a neighborhood setting that won’t overwhelm your parents’ delicate earbuds. And be sure to get their signature feast of pork belly and sesame noodles." - bryan kim, katherine lewin
"True romance at Tuome comes in the form of sharing the restaurant's signature item, "The Pig Out For 2." It's like The Notebook, but with crispy pork and spicy peanut noodles. While the Pig Out can be fun, there's something for everyone at this Chinese-influenced spot - from fancy deviled eggs to a nice piece of fish. The small brick-walled space in the East Village has good vibes all around, and it's usually not too hard to get a table last minute." - hillary reinsberg
"Tuome is like that sane but also surprisingly cool and great person you date after a string of maniacs: calm, fun, not super flashy, and even pretty interesting. The food at this little East Village spot is essentially American with some Chinese influences, so you’ll find dishes like octopus with XO sauce, and “The Pig Out For Two,” which comes with cubes of crispy pork belly and spicy peanut noodles. All of it is really delicious, and legitimately original." - bryan kim, hillary reinsberg
