The Best New Bars in Seattle | Eater Seattle

"Board gaming in Seattle tends to be more passion than pastime. So, when a place describes itself as not just a local game bar, but “a one-of-a-kind community experience for the modern nerd,” it’s got to be the real deal. Fortunately, this new addition to Wallingford appears to be just that. The wood-trimmed space is gorgeous and thoughtfully designed with large, sturdy tables and ample yet non-aggressive lighting. And for gameplay sustenance, there’s a decent selection of non-sticky snacks, beer, and cider. But what’s really “one-of-a-kind” is the wine. It’s an impressive, worldly list that rivals top-tier restaurants and tasting rooms — thankfully, they do flights." - Brianna Gunter

Seattle’s New Restaurant Openings

"Chatting about inflation or the RHONY finale are not the only ways to pass the time at this upscale wine bar—it’s also a tabletop gaming space. Here you can sip chardonnay while playing “Potion Explosion” or “Magic: The Gathering.”" - kayla sager riley, aimee rizzo, gabe guarente

8 Places To Play Tabletop Games Like D&D In Seattle - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Tabletop fans who are tired of the brewery scene should try this mellow, wine-focused option in Wallingford. It has windows galore and nine spaced-out tables made for complicated games with lots of tiny pieces. The room is a bit sterile, and there’s a $20 gaming fee per group if you borrow something from the shelves (no cost if you bring your own). But it’s still a nice place to drink things like a buttery côte du rhône blanc as you ponder a winning move in Azul." - gabe guarente, aimee rizzo

Google
Overdue review, but this has become one of our neighborhood faves! It's a perfect chill spot to enjoy great curated wine and some tasty snacks, all while playing games with friends. I can't think of any other places in the area with this type of fun setup. As for the wine, we even signed up for a monthly membership, and so far have been very impressed with each bottle. The owner is super personable, and even remembered a past conversation on some of our wine preferences. Excited to go back soon and pick up our next few bottles!

U Wine Bar in Wallingford/Fremont has a wonderful selection of local and foreign wines, extremely comfortable tables chairs and ambience, combined with board games and card games, such as Magic: the Gathering! (Boosters, Commander decks and card sleeves available) Bring in your own food, order from a restaurant nearby or snack on a couple of delicious treats they have available! Extremely friendly staff, outdoor area when the weather is nice and an overall fun and classy place! Check it out Tue evenings for Magic: the Gathering - Commander night or Fridays for Friday-Night-Magic if you’re a Magic player or any night to enjoy good wine and some laughs with friends 👍🏻

We truly loved our visit to U Wine Bar. A stunning, cozy space with a curated wine list and board games on offer? Amazing! We live out of town but look forward to returning during our next trip.

U Wine Bar is a really lovely and unique space. I don't consider myself a wine person but I loved the recommendations and the flights to try plenty of curated vintages. The space is comfortable and welcoming, and the staff are kind, knowledgeable, and professional. The Magic draft was very reasonably priced and the space for playing was very comfortable! Overall an excellent experience. If you want to play magic or other board games in comfort, this is your spot.

The two seasonal flights I tried did not disappoint. The progression from a sparkling to a juicy red was absolutely lovely, and I really appreciated being encouraged to step outside my comfort zone with an orange wine—something I’d normally never choose but could truly appreciate for its unique, bold flavor. I also loved their focus on supporting women-owned and smaller vineyards with rich history and character. The owner was so kind and welcoming, making sure we didn’t feel rushed even though we arrived about 45 minutes before closing. He told us the experience was meant to be enjoyed, and it truly was. I also enjoyed the unexpected bonus of board games. I’m not usually a board game person, but playing one with my spouse ended up being a lot of fun. This place is truly a little gem. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves quality wine, community, and good vibes.

Google
Super fun place with great drinks and games! Went there for a chaos draft night and had lots of fun. I got to meet the owner as well, and he was a super great guy that really cares about the magic community. They had a great selection of packs and all the prices were super fair. This was the first time going but it definitely wont be the last!

Brought a large group of 15 of us and everyone had the best time! Everyone was very impressed with the wine, and the atmosphere is unmatched! We will definitely be planning more events here! They were very accommodating to us being a large group

Yelp
Quiet setting with an elegant and accessible wine list. Came here on a date with the wife to enjoy some board games (they have small library) and relax away from the kids. Was a quiet setting with a few groups playing their own games and some others out on a date. Got the flight of wine, which was scrumptious, so order a few more glasses of the one we liked. Will be back with some friends in the coming weeks.

Yelp
What an amazing addition to the Wallingford neighborhood!! My boyfriend and I spontaneously checked out this place and had a fantastic time. The owner was so friendly, and the wine was some of the best we've had. 20$ to play their board games and was worth it for the four games we tried. It sounds like they have the option to bring your own games and food too. Will definitely be back with some friends or for our next date night :)

Yelp
Was in the area seeing some family and decided to stop in. The interior is cute and I really like how curated their wine selection is. They had some great NA options too which seems rare for wine bars. Sarah was my bartender and she was super knowledgeable on their wines. Will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Dropped in to visit a new spot in the neighborhood and was delighted by our experience. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Loved the wine list and love that they have board games available. Will definitely be back for some cozy wine and game nights!

Yelp
So excited that this place opened up in the neighborhood. Went last weekend. Played a game while sipping some great wine. They carried a wine from Walla Walla I have never seen in a restaurant or retail space outside of the winery, so I was stoked to see that carried here. They also carry great chocolates. Elijah was a great host. We'll be back!
