Amazing dining experience! My fiancé took me here for my birthday and I cannot recommend it enough. Each touch point throughout the experience was wonderful. It was also my first time trying omakase and the idea of rawness kind of made me hesitant to try, but wow, I feel like Ive been missing out! I can’t wait to go back to try again, each dish was thoughtfully curated and I felt the freshness with each bite!

Visited on Thursday, 2/19 and had the best time! My dad and I love the Austin Uchi/Uchiko location and I was so excited to hear a spot opening up in Philly! We opted for the 9 course Happy Hour Omakase, and then added some additional plates at the end. Lychee Martini was so yum - not too sweet and could taste the lychee without it tasting artificial. Knowledge for the dishes being dropped off was great! Really got a good sense of what we were eating and ideal/recommended way to eat it! Overall, so pleased with our dinner here and our server was amazing. I don't remember her name unfortunately, but we were the 2nd to last booth on the far left wall facing the sushi counter. I asked her to send out a favorite dish/small bite of hers and she sent the King Ora salmon nigiri and the Black Bream nigiri which I would definitely do again! I would say out of all the dishes the crispy rice was my least favorite? But I will be dreaming of the Grilled Oysters, Raw Oysters with that strawberry mignonette. Run, don't walk to their Happy Hour. Atmosphere was great. I loved the super non-fussiness from the FOH and ability to catch up with my dad whilst enjoying an amazing experience. Will be back for sure!

This was our first time here and we went with the happy hour tasting menu, which was such a great way to experience the place. The food was excellent and beautifully presented. Chef Kyle explained the courses and gave helpful suggestions, which made the tasting menu feel smooth and well thought out. Everything we tried was fresh and well executed, although a couple of dishes leaned on the saltier side for our taste. But what truly made the night unforgettable was Tan. He completely elevated the entire experience for us. From the moment we walked in, his energy was incredible. His contagious smile, warmth, and genuine kindness set the tone for the whole evening. He was attentive without being overbearing, gave thoughtful recommendations, and made us feel truly welcome. It didn’t feel like just good service, it felt personal. Tan honestly changed the whole experience for us. People like him are what make a restaurant special. We had such a wonderful first visit and will absolutely be coming back.

We had the pleasure of attending Uchi Philadelphia’s soft opening on 11/14 and were thrilled that this renowned restaurant finally opened in our city. We had visited the original Austin location on a trip 11 years ago and had a wonderful experience there, so our expectations were high. We ordered the Omakase for two and paired it with daiginjyo sake. Every piece of sushi we were served was meticulously executed and absolutely delicious. The quality of the fish was outstanding—on par with what you would find in authentic sushi spots in Tokyo. That said, there were a couple of dishes that didn’t fully resonate with us. For instance, the dashi poured in a sake cup was very salty and felt unusual for Omakase. As a Japanese diner, I personally prefer a more inviting and warm atmosphere, like Uchi Austin, rather than the darker, lounge-like ambiance here. Our server, Teddy, was fantastic—attentive, professional, and made us feel very comfortable throughout the meal. We understand that soft openings are a training period, but at times we were slightly disrupted when servers cleared dishes while we were still eating. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and look forward to returning. Next time, we plan to focus mainly on sushi rather than the full Omakase. For anyone seeking a true Japanese dining experience, I would recommend prioritizing the sushi offerings.

This was my favorite meal of the year! I love Uchi’s Austin and Miami locations, so I was so happy to see they opened in Philly. The ambiance is perfect: gorgeous lamps, cozy booths, perfect sound balance. Our server Michelle was a highlight of our night! She was so knowledgeable about the menu and really helped us craft a balanced meal and experience. In fact, Michelle and the Uchi team recommended dishes I would never think to try but totally blew me away like the kinoko nigiri and kinoko nabe. The hirame usuzukuri, namahotate, and warm banana cake were my favorites!

UCHI IS A WHOLE VIBE !!! Exquisite food, phenomenal service, and the atmosphere is sophisticated / cozy. I've been a loyal customer of Uchi since their opening day. My first visit was during their "soft opening" in November 2025 (Uchi was comping up to $125 pp) and I've been bringing my friends and family here ever since!!! If you want to dine where your servers are extremely attentive, friendly, and can tell you in full details about everything on the menu, including the sauces... Uchi is where to go. Their dessert menu is not to be played with baby. My favorite dessert is The Warm Banana Cake (a chef's kiss 😘 to that). Speaking of the chef... Chef Ford is a powerhouse !! I requested to personally speak with him and this food genius actually put a pause on feeding the whole restaurant to hear me praise his cooking. My favorite dish is The Hot Rock, which is a serving of several well seasoned, pieces of raw Canadian wagu steak that you cook on a hot rock. As well, the Hama Chilli and Grilled Oysters ARE A MUST 😋 I give this restaurant a 10 all across the board 💚💚💚💚💚 because each time I dine here it's truly a fun and fascinating experience 💚💚💚💚💚

Incredible dining experience! I went with a couple friends and we tried the somakase. Our waiter, Tan, did a phenomenal job tailoring the meal to our different preferences while being mindful of dietary restrictions. Everything tasted and looked amazing, and the cocktails were so delicious. Tan was super knowledgeable, and the entire staff helped make it a five star experience. Perfect for a date night, a celebration with friends, or simply treating yourself. Happy to have Uchi in Philly, and can’t wait to come back!

The happy hour omakase at Uchi is hands down one of the best-kept secrets in Philly. The quality, pacing, and value feel almost criminal for what you’re getting. But what truly made this meal unforgettable was our server, Tan. I genuinely have not experienced service like this anywhere in Philadelphia. Tan was warm, kind, wildly attentive without ever hovering, and brought that rare, almost Disney-level magic to the entire meal. Every detail felt thoughtful, intentional, and elevated — the kind of service that makes you feel taken care of from start to finish. Food was phenomenal, atmosphere was perfect, but Tan took it from “amazing dinner” to core memory. We will absolutely be back again and again… and will only be requesting Tan as our server. Wow. Wow. Wow.

Came back again with a friend this time because everything was so great last week. Our server Kerri was very attentive and my friend noticed how on top of everything all of the staff were. We did not have one bad dish, everything was AMAZING! My favorite will always be the fried milk dessert and I'm planning to go back again next week with my sister! Their happy hour menu is STELLAR!

I had a great experience at Uchi Philadelphia last night. I came for Happy Hour at 1600 and chose to sit at the bar.However, you can get happy at every seat in the restaurant until 1800! Woohoo! I started with the HH Hama Chili (yellowtail, ponzu, thai chili,orange supreme) which I loved the first time I visited and still consider it to be the best dish. Then I ordered HH Walu Walu (oak grilled escolar,candied citrus,ponzu, myaga) which was also very good. For dinner I ordered a Sasami Yaki with Halibut which blew me away. Service by John and Emily was excellent. Go early where you can enjoy the serenity. 4 houses!

Vibes: minimalistic, sophisticated but casual; bring a friend or a few Tasting notes: - Roasted scallop: excellent sear; loved the creamy, savory corn porridge (wish I had a carb to swipe it up!) - Ham and Eggs: big bite-sized pieces; meat was slightly dry; enjoyed the crunch from the pickled carrots - Suzuki Crudo: light with some sweetness and crunch with each bite as the fish was wrapped around a diced pear; minimally spicy; ginger adds a subtle aroma - Roasted daikon: large tender yet almost meaty pieces; loved the creamy rich broth (another very swipe-able dip) - Uchi salad: a lovely variety of crunches with each swipe and bite - what a fun, unique way to eat salad! - Kinoko nabe: buttery, umami rich and crispy from the toasted rice; a very addicting and filling dish - Sakana mushi: a surprisingly hearty dish with large pieces of tender fish swimming in a rich broth alongside earthy mushrooms - Amberjack and Striped Jack sashimi: served on ice with a bit of topping (one was lime, one was maybe salted roe) - Coconut tapioca: each spoonful was fluffy and refreshing with a little crunch and tang Other thoughts: - Above meal was very satisfying for two adults - Appreciated the coursing while being able to add on as we went - Service is friendly and attentive - Missed out on the takoyaki and lychee martini as they were out for the night - Menu is quite vast with plenty of vegetarian options Impression: Uchi delivers the hype! Will be coming back to try the rest of the menu, but the kinoko nabe is a new favorite of mine!

Here's my take from our adventure to the new @uchirestaurants Philly that just opened on Monday! I have been awaiting this location to open since I first had Uchi in Denver a few years ago. It's been a staple on my visits out West. Anyway, I managed to grab us a table to celebrate my sister's birthday Every single dish was WONDERFUL!! I love Uchi because of their attention to detail, the fun flavor profiles into the traditional Japanese cuisine, and consistent service standards. We ordered the happy hour Signature Tasting for two, plus added on the gyudon, nasu nigiri, butternut squash nigiri, bluefin otoro (not pictured), pork belly, karaage chicken (not pictured). Included in the tasting was hama chili, savage blonde oyster, sake nigiri, akami temaki, sake tom kha, broccoli rabe, kurodai, braised short rib, and the panna cotta dessert. The wagyu hot rock (video) was also included compliments of our wait staff for Vic's birthday! Every single bite was delicious. The only drawback we had was the karaage chicken and the manager was very open to the feedback (the fryer was probably too hot as it was a little under cooked for the chicken but overcooked on the breading) and removed it from the menu. The food was stellar. The drinks were lovely. The atmosphere is second to none. It's also such a large space, totally good for groups or larger party sizes. I wish nothing but good fortune to Uchi and the Philly team. I will for sure be back for happy hour, maybe once a month. It's that good. And well worth the price* point!! * We did the happy hour omakasse for $120 and added on from there. Overall - well worth the value between ingredients/portion size/presentation.

Hands down the best sushi spot in Philly. I am so excited for Uchi to join our dining scene! The service was top tier and the fish was so incredibly fresh. We did the somakase, and Michelle did such an amazing job of curating the perfect omakase menu for us based off of our preferences. The seared scallops are to die for, so definitely give that a try. bonus: they have happy hour!

Came in solo on a Sunday evening. Ordered 20 pieces of nigiri. They are definitely on the smaller side, but the garnishes were creative and flavorful, and the fish was overall very fresh. This meal was on the expensive side for the size of the pieces, but I enjoyed it still.

From the first bite to the last everything was amazing. So flavorful, well thought out, and plated beautifully. Our server, Emily, was crazy knowledgeable about the menu, gave great recommendations. I would trust her to do a somakase in a heart beat, and might be the way I go next time I visit. The first sea bass nigiri might have been my favorite bite, but the short rib and sushi was a close second. Dessert was amazing, every bite had something else going on, with textures and flavors. The restaurant is also beautiful. The vibe is amazing and I can't wait to be back!

Haha first review, get beaten! Anyway, best fish of my life, and I usually don't eat fish! The steak was delicious as well, and I wish I got a picture of the hot rock in action. The service was fast, and our waitress liked my Boston Harbor tea joke. The ambiance was nice, and as my sister put it "dark and fancy." Would, nay will, come back.

So good! The food, the vibe, the service, all great! We got so many things. The fish tasted so fresh and nothing was fishy. Our favorite was the mushroom nigiri and the tuna flight. The grill oysters were like French onion soup. Tan was our server and Cesar was our sushi chef and they both were so friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Definitely recommend and will be returning to check out the HH!

I went to Uchi last night and the food was truly exceptional. Every dish was incredibly fresh, creative, and packed with flavor. The only drawback was the wait for the food to come out , which was noticeably long and did take away from the flow of the evening

The food was great the ambience was subtle. We enjoyed our time and servers were great. Definitely will be coming back for the non seafood items need to try it all.
