The 14 Best Restaurants on Miami Beach | Eater Miami

"Uchiko — which translates to “child of Uchi” — is Austin-based chef Tyson Cole’s newest concept in Miami. With Uchi’s successful Wynwood location, Cole decided it was time to conquer South Beach. Located in Sunset Harbour, the menu focuses largely on the use of the yakitori grill that’s used for the “from the hearth” section of the menu with a selection of hot and cold dishes that are both smoked and cured — including a hearth-roasted lobster with umeboshi butter, seared NY strip wagyu with charred snow pea leaves, and Japanese sweet potato with brown butter, nori vinaigrette and crème fraîche. For those who don’t want to decide, there are two chef’s tasting menu options: a daily ten-course omakase or the personalized somakase (omakase built from the server’s choices)." - Amber Love Bond

The 20 Best Restaurants In South Beach - Miami - The Infatuation

"We don’t like Uchiko as much as its sister restaurant Uchi, but it’s still a solid spot for cocktails and snacking on a spicy tuna roll at the bar. If you plan to come with a big group, don’t. The nibbles of sushi, tempura, and steak are meant for a business dinner that won’t involve much chewing. Or for the Sunset Harbourists who live upstairs and don’t want to commute very far for a date night. The dining room is serious enough for a client meeting, but the leafy plants and glossy tiles let the happy hour crowd unclench from the stresses of an aggressive Jetset Pilates class." - ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino, virginia otazo

Uchiko Miami Beach - Review - Miami Beach - Miami - The Infatuation

"Uchi has proven to be such a reliable special occasion meal all over the country, with beloved locations in Austin, LA, and Miami. So we’re optimistic about their newest arrival in Florida: Uchiko. The menu will overlap a lot with Uchi and include some new yakitori dishes. It’s supposed to open in Sunset Harbour in early 2025 and will be the first east coast location of Uchiko (there are two locations already in Austin and Houston). If this one shares the same menu, the fish sauce caramel brussels sprouts will be a must-order here too. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Anne Cruz

The food was amazing, and the Miami Spice menu was spectacular value. We loved the maguro and the sea bass. The desserts themselves were so decadent - it’s clear that so much attention to detail is put in the dishes. Plus the gin and tonic is so yummy! Not to mention, Bianka provided stellar service and was so kind! We’re definitely coming back to take advantage of their Miami Spice and happy hour menu

No Uchi salad here? I was surprised. For the price, I expected to be blown away, but the tasting menu was hit or miss. Some dishes were great, others forgettable. Service overall was fine, but the woman who served us came across as dismissive, which left a sour note. I did appreciate the nice touch at the end—they gave us a $25 gift card and a jar of their signature salt, which was a cool surprise. I did love the atmosphere though. But there are so many great restaurants in Miami, so I don’t think I’ll be back.

Great things: Food was delicious. The options are endless! I am celiac and did deal with some cross contamination following the meal but overall I think they did a great job. We did the tasting menu and it was wonderful. The Gluten Free fried chicken was my favorite! The service was perfect. My only less than positive feedback is that there were two dogs (one large on the ground and one small on the seats) eating next to us. I love animals but at a high end dining establishment I don’t want animals in the restaurant. I am very allergic to pet dander. I started itching and sneezing as soon as the dogs arrived. That doesn’t great a sanitary or good experience so that’s why 3/5 for atmosphere!

I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant previously in Houston, and I was thrilled to see it open in Miami Beach! The experience was just as fantastic as I remembered. The food was delicious—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The staff provided exceptional service, attentive and friendly throughout the meal. Overall, a wonderful dining experience that I highly recommend. I’ll definitely be returning soon!

We hosted a happy hour event for our 100+ Women Who Care Miami Beach group of 25 women at Uchiko, and everything was exceptional! From the moment we arrived, the service was attentive and welcoming, the ambience was perfect, and the food and drinks were absolutely outstanding. The team went above and beyond to make our evening special. The amount of food served truly exceeded expectations—not only was it plentiful, but every dish was beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. The women in our group were blown away and couldn’t stop talking about how amazing everything was. It was such a memorable evening, and I had so many guests reach out afterward to say how impressed they were. Thank you to the entire Uchiko team for helping create such a wonderful experience—we can’t wait to return!

Uchiko is a beautiful restaurant with a stunning atmosphere, but unfortunately, the food didn’t quite meet our expectations. Many of the dishes were a bit too saucy and salty for our taste. Service was on the slower side, though it’s understandable since the restaurant is still new and the team may be in training. The overall style feels more like a modern, commercial take on Japanese cuisine—great for those who enjoy bold flavors and a lot of sauce, but perhaps not the most authentic experience. I might return for drinks and the ambiance, which are definitely worth enjoying.

I love Uchiko!!!!! Sister resto to Uchi this does NOT disappoint. Went with a group of friends and we tried it alllllll - everything was amazing! Truly! Standouts for me were raw items, the trout and scallop are insane…. Plenty of delicious veggie options, loved the carrots - also do NOT sleep on the onion rings, seriously LOL ..The atmosphere is so beachy and lux , such an inviting dining experience and even though the space is huge it feels intimate and not crowded . The staff was so lovely and on top of it!!! S/o to our server who was so intuitive and noticed what we were liking and brought us more dishes to try on the house!!! Including dessert!!!!! Loved the sundae, the cheesecake and the fried milk! Can’t wait to go back ❤️

Uchiko is an absolute gem. The moment you walk in, you’re struck by the stunning decor — a perfect blend of modern elegance and warmth that sets the tone for a truly special evening. The food is exceptional. Every dish is a masterclass in Japanese fusion, bursting with flavor and creativity. From start to finish, each bite felt thoughtful and exciting. And the lychee martini? To die for — easily one of the best cocktails I’ve had in a long time. What really elevated the night was the service: incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and gracious without ever feeling overbearing. The staff truly enhanced the experience. Uchiko delivers on every level. I’m already looking forward to coming back very soon — this place is something special.

Yelp
I made reservations with open table Your Uchiko Plano reservation is set for 3/8/25 at 7:45 PM for 2 guests. To manage your reservation, visit https://sevn.ly/xX8orb1f Upon arriving there we found out it was at a different location. The problem was Kesha the hostess she was the rudest unapologetic hostess I have ever encountered. Politely I asked would you have space for 4, I have NO problem with her saying mo. But the face and the way she said it. She should not be the face of your place.
