The 25 Best Maui Restaurants, According to a Local Expert | Eater

"David and Ululani Yamashiro made it their mission to perfect Hawai‘i’s favorite refreshment: shave ice. They succeeded, creating immaculate snowballs of ice shaved extra fine and doused with house-made syrups. Alongside standards like mango, cherry, and pineapple, you’ll find Thai tea, Jamaica, salted caramel, and strawberry milk. As you wait in line, choose your three syrup flavors, add a base of ice cream or adzuki beans, then crown your creation with haupia cream, matcha mochi, or li hing mui drizzle. If the combinations overwhelm you, ask the staff for suggestions. Know before you go: Syrup specialist Emi Yoshida continues to concoct new, small-batch syrups with all-natural local ingredients — except for the few throwbacks like electric blue raspberry." - Shannon Wianecki

The 9 Best Shave Ice Spots in Hawai‘i | Eater

"When on Maui, a stop at Ululani’s is a must. There are five locations, all of them extremely popular. The ice is shaved so fine it’s practically velvety, and with almost 50 flavors, Ululani’s satisfies those who want all-natural fruit syrups as well as those for whom shave ice isn’t shave ice unless there’s blue raspberry and pink bubblegum." - Martha Cheng

Google
A pretty solid shave ice spot and right across from Leonard’s. Kill two sweet tooth birds with one stone. The workers mold the ice in a bowl with hashis like it’s an ice sculpture. They have a few ice cream flavors and even one dairy-free option with coconut ice cream. There is an abundance of flavored syrups. It’s not overly saturated, as to not make it syrupy at the end/bottom, keeping it light and fluffy. Add the li hing powder to the top for a truly authentic shave ice experience.

Google
I wasn’t expecting the texture of this supposed Hawaiian Shave ice place. I would call it something else. It is more like fine powder snow in a cup. Typically there is fine ice particles in shave ice, but this was pure powder. It’s better than those fake coarse ice bits, snow cones as they say. It’s just not right. Maybe it is just my cup, where the blade was adjusted too tight or something. But i’d be cautious about returning, and need to do more research, because I prefer the usual shave ice. The flavors were excellent, so no issue there.

Google
The BEST shave ice and island made ice cream on Oahu by far!!! Skip all the tourist traps and go here! All syrups use cane sugar with natural fruit. So many wild flavors, toppings and options to choose from, you’ll never get bored. Their ice cream is top notch and include flavors like Banana Mac Nut, Kona crunch, Mac Nut, and Haupia, and Ube, among others. Combine with the shave ice for the ultimate treat!

Google
Omg..this is shave ice from the heavens🤩😍💯 It is super fine ice, the flavors are crazy amazing. I had matcha, coconut and ube with haupia cream topping..the homemade mochi..just speechless..awesome flavors..only thing is I can't keep coming back for more as I was visiting😭😭..if only I could I'd keep going back everyday😭😭 I had several shave ice elsewhere during my visit but this place is my favorite as the shave ice is the most super fine and the haupia cream is 💯 and the way they shape the ice into a ball and poke holes to absorb all the flavors..is magical. They are the pros for sure!

Google
Fantastic shaved ice quality and service. Staff were nice and the shaved ice itself was really tasty and a great texture. I’ll say the price seemed a little steep, but not enough for me to deduct a star. Bonus from our trip - the owners were sitting at the next table, and we could hear them talking about flavors and textures. Seemed like they were testing what I presume were new combinations or specials. It definitely felt like the owners are passionate about their craft, and made me appreciate the shaved ice that much more.

Google
Got the green tea ube coconut special. The kinako powder on top is a great touch of savory flavor to the sweet shave ice! Even though we didn’t add icecream it already has a creamy taste to it. Recommend!

Andrew Lee

Google
This is the only Oahu location for the Maui based chain of shave ice. And without a doubt, it is the best purveyor throughout the islands. The ice is so smooth and creamy it has the mouth feel of ice cream. They use their own syrup blend. And their mochi is soft and squishy. The only thing missing is a location within Waikiki!

Raina Moreau-Sapp

Google
Awesome shave ice. Perfect, soft, smooth texture ice. I got the Jem's Jam which was half pickled mango and li hing with mochi! It was fabulous. The best treat after a hike! My friend got one with matcha, coconut and ube and coconut flakes. She added ice cream which i should have too!

Yelp
Ululani's serves some of the best shave ice I've ever had--truly unbeatable! We brought the whole family to the Honolulu location because it's one of my husband's favorite places, and now it's a favorite for all of us. This location is always packed, and for good reason--the flavors are vibrant, the ice is super fine and fluffy, and everything is made with care. Despite the crowds, the service is efficient, and there's indoor seating so you can enjoy your treat comfortably. It's a must-stop for us anytime we have family visiting us. Totally worth the wait every single time!
google avatar

Yelp
ONE OF THE BEST- if not THE BEST! Service is great! Super friendly staff, patient to wait for your flavor choices if you're like me and took longer than the line was! But don't be fooled, the line is loooong. I just came right before it got long! The vibe in here is exactly what I expected- kid friendly, fun and cute, local- vibes. Lots of merch to choose from! Highly recommend getting merch as this is a place you can't forget! Just fyi- this place is a little pricier than other place but it's WORTH IT! The shaved ice here is different from all the others- from my perspective. The EXTREMELY fine and dense ice- it ALMOST gives sorbetto vibes. I LOVED IT SO MUCH! the syrups they use are fresher tasting than some other places. It's not as artificial tasting. Everything literally melts in your mouth- in a delicate soft ice way- not in the obviously ice melting your mouth way- lol DO NOT GO HOME until you try this!

Yelp
So everyone I know rants about this place and says it's the best shave ice here on Oahu ... my thoughts are ... it's kinda hard to mess up shave ice... so I have to give it a try ... it's good... they poke holes in the ice so that the flavor goes through so that's great!! ...great service indeed ... pretty fast and very busy!! I do think that they are kinda pricey but .. Would I come back ... sure ... why Not ....

Yelp
TL;DR Top-tier shave ice. ----- My wife and I felt like taking our daughter for a treat. We were craving shave ice, so based on a recommendation from some friends, we decided to visit Ululani's for the first time. There's a parking lot in front with ample parking. We arrived around 4pm on weekday and it was crowded but there was no line. We ordered the regular (Ulu) size shave ice with azuki beans, snow cap, and fresh mochi. For flavors, we went with recommended "Sunset Beach" combo, which is comprised of passion orange, mango, and guava. Damn, the shave ice here is phenomenal. The ice itself is super light and fluffy, the flavors are superb, and the toppings are solid. We were especially impressed with how intense and precise the flavors were. Taking a bite of the mango portion of the shave ice at times tasted like biting into a real mango. Crazy! I also appreciated how thick and chewy the mochi was. Ululani's is firmly in the top spot of my shave ice power rankings. I look forward to my next visit to try different flavors!
google avatar

Ryan C.

Yelp
Still the king of shave ice! Got the Pickled Mango, Li Hing, and Lychee with Li Hing Powder and Mochi and it still blows my mind how great it is. Mine was a little icy but for the most part the texture was still great. My wife got the Sunset Beach (Passion Orange, Mango, Guava). It was a new flavor for her but she still loved it. Service was friendly as usual and the place was pretty packed as well despite it being a Monday night near closing.
google avatar

Erica Z.

Yelp
So good that we came here twice in one week! The macadamia ice cream is a must, and so is the Li Hing Mei powder on top! We tried the prebuilt POG and it was delicious! The second time we tried mango and pineapple, I would not recommend the pineapple as it tasted very artificial.
google avatar

Kim T.

Yelp
One of the best shaved ice spots on the island!! My family and I first tried this place in Maui and we literally visited it everyday. We were so happy to see that they opened a location in Oahu. It's right next to Leonard's so you can get yourself two sweet treats :) the workers were really nice and answered all our questions about new combination suggestions. You need to add the mochi and condensed milk! Our favorite flavors were the guava and mango. The lychee flavor is not super strong but it was still tasty. Amazing dessert for when you need to cool off.
google avatar

Kim L.

Yelp
The shaved ice is so smooth and fine that it's kind of tastes like an eating a slushie to me. Good thing there is seating inside because it would probably melt into a drink as soon as I step outside. Overall I enjoyed the flavors I got. It also made me less guilty knowing that their premium syrups are handcrafted made with natural cane sugar and real fruit juices.
google avatar

Ann M.

Yelp
Their shaved ice is very smooth, ultra fine snow like texture. It's really good but man, very pricy when you start adding up toppings. Although I didn't taste or get condensed milk, I'm disappointed for paying $14 plus 20% tip
google avatar

Catherine G.

Yelp
This was the best shave I've ever had! The ice is so fine and fluffy and the syrup goes all the way through the ice. I shared an original (Ulu size) Sunset Beach with a snow cap with my sister and the flavor is fantastic! There is pretty limited seating inside and a decently long line, but it was sooo worth it
google avatar

Fazley R.

Yelp
Hands down the best shave ice on Oahu. The shave ice has a cotton candy like consistency and just melts in your mouth. You must get a snow cap on whatever flavor you get. I wish we had a location in Houston.
google avatar

Aneesa M.

Yelp
They really do shave ice right! We went here on a hot day and ordered a shave ice to share. Thanks Ululani!
google avatar

Jeremy B.

Yelp
Ahhh another tasty shaved ice spot. They all have their own unique taste. We visited this spot twice in one week. My kids approve and here's what we mixed up, Mango, tigers blood, and vanilla shaved ice . The service was pretty quick The shop has some nice apparel and cool mural on the interior walls.
google avatar

Rich S.

Yelp
I think the ice is fantastic, they put plenty of syrup so there is a lot of flavor Parking lot is big, and have seats inside to stay out of the sun and enjoy the shaved ice. The staff was attentive and quick - probably a better experience all around than other of the popular shave ice places. If we didn't go to Maui many times, it would just be "another shave ice place" - but they did a good job to bring the spirit of the Maui establishments over
google avatar

Paul L.

Yelp
Are you on Oahu but not just at Waikiki Beach? Then by all means you need to come to Ululani's! They are the tops for true Hawaiian shave ice. There is plenty of indoor seating for you to enjoy your custom made creation. The menu board is packed with flavor combinations for you to choose from or... be a rebel... make one of your own. Even with the packed shop, they got my order out nice and quick. The shop is spaced nicely for a casual sit down for you to enjoy your ice, or if you prefer there are a couple outdoor benches, I Highly recommend getting away from the beach and giving it a try!
google avatar

Jen H.

Yelp
A great little gem located across the small side street from Leonard's. Kill two birds with one stone and get your sweet tooth satisfied with a cool shave ice and warm malasada. Enjoy a mouthful of flaky, smooth goodness in a pile of flavored ice along with toppings and other treats to hide inside from ice cream to lychee jelly. One dairy-free option for those who are lactose intolerant. The syrup is light handed leaving some of the center to not be flavored, but also striking a good balance of not overly sweet syrupy water at the bottom. The ice is perfectly molded with hashis to create a symmetrical dome for your selected flavors. Add the li hing powder on top for a true island flavor. A definite must try when you're in the area or passing by.
google avatar

Michaela C.

Yelp
- 8.5/10! - Very good and creative flavors/combos - Ling Hing drizzle was really yummy and a nice addition - Super soft almost creamy texture to the ice - The only reason I didn't give 10/10 is because the flavors were a little too sweet for my preference and not as natural tasting as other shops I tried during my visit to Oahu - Service was friendly & I did appreciate that they kept the AC blasting to keep the inside super cool so your shave ice doesn't melt as fast
google avatar

Rebecca C.

Yelp
Really nice workers. They make recommendations for flavors because it can be overwhelming. The keiki size is pretty large. Cute spot to sit and enjoy the smoothest, most flavorful ice ever. They even poke holes so the freshly made fruit juices seep through! Small lot for parking out front.

Jason K.

Yelp
Just like I remember I had the same shaved ice In the Maui location. Awesome as always
google avatar

Josh M.

Yelp
Probably the softer shave ice you'll ever try. It's a little pricey compared to other shave ice spots you'll find, but it's totally worth it. Plenty of parking and dining space. I recommend adding just a few toppings like the ice cream or mochi balls with at least three different syrup flavors.
google avatar

Lishya H.

Yelp
Shaved ice at its best, hands down it's the best I've had on Oahu. The service is fast and the taste of the shaved ice is even better. It's nice that you can sit down comfortably inside the store and they have some cute merchandise as well. The flavor is bomb and their shaved is so smooth that you can't stop eating it. The flavor tastes not too sweet or artificially sweeten. Definitely the ice cream inside is cherry on top. Definitely will go back next time we're on Oahu!
google avatar

Leeza D.

Yelp
This has to be on every Waikiki food tour. This is an import from Maui. The ice is so finely shaved and the syrups are well flavored and don't feel overly syrupy. There's so many flavors to play around with, but the green tea is a must try. There's also the choice of toppers, ice cream, mochi and so much more. I think you can come here everyday for a year and not try all the combos mathematically possible. We walked here. There is on site parking. Fun and casual indoor seating. Good service. Please come and create your own experience.
google avatar

Hurnan V.

Yelp
I love ululanis! The price is a bit steep for shave ice but their quality is unmatched. I love the Haleakala- the fresh snow cap is so sweet and decadent. The lines may vary depending on the time of day, but it is totally worth the hype. There is ample seating indoors and it is well air conditioned. The parking is a bit tight depending on time of day... but I will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Ululani's softest, finest ice and exemplary syrup that does not migrate down the bottom of your frozen treat brings it to the top of the heap for Hawaiian shave ice. I did had Ululani's Hawaiian Shave Ice when we visited Maui many years ago and back then I already thought that their shave ice was very good. Situated dab smack in the middle of the action in Kapahulu Ave. Right next to Leonard's and just a stones throw away form Rainbow Drive-Inn, Ululani's serve both locals and visitors with their delicious shave ice. What did I get? Actually I do not even remember, as any combination form Ululani's will give you lots of smiles. I think I had Hawaiian Rainbow? Anyways, I am pretty certain that I had a scoop of macadamia nut ice cream to elevate my shave ice even further. I am very glad and thankful also, that we have an Ululani's location right here in the mainland! Regardless of location, you can expect the best of Hawaii when to step into a Ululani's Hawaiian Shave Ice. Certified broke the mouth!
google avatar

Arleen U.

Yelp
We got here at 12:30 Friday of May Day. It was pretty busy but the service was surprisingly fast. We ordered the strawberry shortcake with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and it was delicious. The shave ice was super pillowy soft and thank you for generous heap of graham cracker at the top. The people that worked there were really nice, and asked us if we had any questions and suggested the ice cream. The location was surprisingly very quiet despite being next to Kapahulu Avenue. But it seems like people come in in waves. Delicious flavors, and great music. Was a great escape from the midday sun!
google avatar

Yelp
Craving shave ice and decided to try Ululani's. Shop is very cute and spacious. Staff were very friendly and very welcoming. Hands down the best shave Ice ! I definitely will be back. Thank you
google avatar

Janna C.

Yelp
Best shaved ice on the island in terms of texture and density. Syrups are okay. Their Ube flavor was great, Green Tea was ehh, I think it should have been sweeter since it's a syrup. Service was really nice. I loved their Banana Mac Nut ice cream. It had this surprise of a caramel and toffee swirl which I loved. It was nice to see that they had dairy free and Vegan options. The inside was cute and clean. I hope to come back here one day!
google avatar

Michele T.

Yelp
First time I tried Ululani's was in Maui. Finally made it to this one. Kiddo ordered a keiki Lilikoi Cheesecake with ube ice cream and I ordered an ulu Jem's Jam with Haupia ice cream. The ice was soft and completely covered by the flavors. I liked the li hing flavors - not overpowering. The haupia flavor came through in the ice cream as well. Refreshing and enjoyable.

Yelp
Ululani's Hawaiian Shave Ice **** RECOMMENDED **** Food: **** Value: *** Menu: **** Ambiance: *** new & clean Parking: ***** free, in front If you're in the mood for a shave ice, but Waiola Shave Ice (6 pm) and Shimizu Shave Ice (7 pm) are closed, look no further than Ululani's which closed at 9:30 pm. They are located on Kapahulu Avenue on the east side just after Lenord's Bakery, before Rigo's, and across the street from the Safeway shopping center. They have a variety of special combos, toppings, flavors, ice creams and even a sugar-free flavors to choose from. They are a little more pricey than Waiola Shave Ice at $6.75 for Keiki and $7.99 for a regular size. The ice is very fine, heavily packed into a bowl and a lot shorter. The flavors will depend on your taste. They have 4 tables with chairs and a long counter with stools to sit on in air conditioning. If it's before 6 pm, I would still go to Waiola's first for the flavors, the size and the price. But is a nice option for a snack after dinner. RATINGS & RECOMMENDED ORDER: Yelp: https://yelp.to/foq9eKdaPC Website: https://www.ululanishawaiianshaveice.com/ YELP: Milton K Sorry! They allow only one 12 second video & the remaining to 3 seconds. The full video and pictures of the entire menu can be found on other platforms/apps: MiltonIn808 RATINGS KEY: A = Really Good - one of the best B = Good - would order again C = ok - similar, nothing special D = Not very good - wouldn't order F = Terrible - avoid

Yelp
How can you come to island without having one? Yes, there's the staple in Haleiwa. Yes, there's that corner store place off of McCully. And yes, that place across the parking lot from Rainbow. A couple years ago, new kid showed up in town, coming from another island. And it's just across the street from that malasada place. That's what prompted me to stop here on a Tuesday early afternoon after shopping at Waikele. Walking in, there were a few ladies enjoying their treats at tables while a couple were at the order counter. This gave me time to study the menu (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=120&select=P823RipxLw8HWuFEZh3PXA) which is pretty extensive. Bring overwhelmed by the # of choices, I decided to try one of their suggested combinations, the Sunset Beach, small (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=120&select=9SKOSJrcvH2X_NHpVH8xtw), comprised of Passion, Mango, Orange, and Guava. After ordering, I sat at a table in the middle of the store and watched two gals put it together. It was interesting to see the shelves lined with syrup bottles across the counter (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=312&select=5sX62uACr5Br6zBrJ7FmjA). A few minutes later, I was called to the counter to get my icy treat. I should have been more observant in reading the flavors while I took bites to enjoy each of the flavors. Being warm and thirsty, I shoveled this down mainly since my travel companion chose to wait for me in the car, not wanting to make him wait. I enjoyed this ice and the variety of flavors. The mango and guava tastes were less distinguishable. The two young gals were efficient and professional in putting my treat together. The cashier promptly told me when it was ready and left it on the counter for me. I look forward to trying this again, likely other flavors after doing my menu homework before walking in.

Yelp
So happy we have multiple locations on island as my first experience was on the beautiful Valley Isle a.k.a Maui. Same great service and taste! This location is across of Leonard's Bakery right on Kapahulu Avenue. We've been lucky to go when it's not so busy, especially knowing how busy they can get. They have a few tables and bar style seating as well. The store is clean and the workers are friendly. They have a large selection of flavors and offer suggestions of combinations and top flavors. You can pick from a variety of toppings and even get ice cream or azuki beans. If you get to the middle and find a pure white pile of shave ice, ask them to top you off and they'll be glad to do so.
google avatar

Patti C.

Yelp
Eating fresh snow with amazing flavor is truly a great experience . Many flavors and combinations to choose from. Get more syrup if needed for free. Great flavor and such finely shaved ice makes this the best
google avatar

Steven N.

Yelp
I came here under pressure from my date because it seems to be a necessary thing for tourists to try shave ice. As such, I expected the cup of ice to be on par with the syrupy mess you get at a neighborhood carnival. I was shocked when it turned out to be a delightful pleasure. We shared the Haleakala with a scant amount of Macadamia nut ice cream on the bottom. It cost $12, enough to have bought a gallon of premium ice cream at the grocery store, but the taste was epic. The texture was super smooth and the "snow cap" included on top was unique and a great compliment. Service from the kids at the cash register was pleasant and I appreciated their patience in letting me taste a few flavors. The atmosphere on the other hand was dull and tables were dirty. Now I am addicted to the stuff, so we'll be back!
google avatar

Maddie M.

Yelp
Everyone working here was very nice, it was a little slow because they're so busy, but overall a great experience. Someone did snatch my shave ice from the counter, but the employees were very nice and apologetic even though it wasn't their fault and made me a new one. I got the regular shave ice with lilikoi, mango, and strawberry, topped with a snow cap and mochi. The mochi was yummy and fresh and the flavors were very light and delicious. I only wish that for the price it would be a little bigger. While yummy, I think I'll keep going to my regular, Waiolas.
google avatar

Gladys P.

Yelp
I was going to take a star off because they were out of TWO of the flavors I wanted, but my son fell in love with your calamansi shave ice so it's all good. The flavors were so true and spot on, without being sickeningly sweet like other places have them. Cool place to relax. Unfortunately now that we're back home in So Cal, we still haven't found a shop as good as yours.
google avatar

Sarah K.

Yelp
Last shaved ice before heading to the airport. I was suspicious of how this would taste, since it looked so simple. However, don't let the looks deceive you. The syrups, while they look simple and manufactured, they were fresh! So it was a pleasant surprise.
google avatar

Kathy V.

Yelp
Was so excited to hear Ululanis has migrated to Oahu. Yes I know they have one in the bay but Livermore is still a bit far of a drive for me. Tons of options and the ice is made out to taste like ice cream versus crunchy ice lol Definitely worth the calories
google avatar

Malia S.

Yelp
Call me a shaved ice snob not because I was a figure stalker, but because I would only eat shaved ice from Obama favorite Waiola. Our most recent visit to the island we broke the Santo family tradition to try out Ululani's. Sometimes it's scary to try something new, but you never know unless you give it a try. If I don't like something I don't bother eating it because I would rather eat my calories with food that I can enjoy. So, don't feel bad about leftovers. Forget about leftovers here because, this spot was so good even my father has this spot living rent free in his mind ever since we visited. When you're getting twards the middle of your shaved ice, the snow becomes more bland because of all the syrup sits at the top. Here at Ululani's will top off your shaved ice free of charge! The shaved ice here is so smooth and they have a huge variety of flavors. The biggest part about why I enjoyed Ululani's more than Waiola is because Ululani's is presented clean wnd modern. I worry about how Waiolas clenliness because a majority of their equipment and storage looks kind of gross almost. The staff at Waiola are impatient and stingy.. because of all those things I was hesitant on getting shaved ice from Waiola. Now I know where I'll be going when I make my next visit
google avatar

Alvin K.

Yelp
Today I went to Ululani's for some bomb shave ice after participating in the ALS walk. Perfect dessert for this nice sunny day. The flavors I chose were lychee, calamansi, and peach. They were all spot on in taste! Felt bad for my 7 mo old son, so I asked for a little bit of plain shave ice. Thanks to their generosity, my son's first shave ice is from Ululani's and he loved it! Check em out!
google avatar

Michael K.

Yelp
I grew up eating the big M in Haleiwa! Now, as a not so mature adult, I live in town and can't make it to Haleiwa that often. For my fellow town folk, not to worry, there are great shave ice places in Honolulu. Unfortunately, this is not one of them. The shave ice here is finely cut into a powder like consistency. Think Coca-Cola and I'm not referring to soda. Excuse the narcotics reference, but this stuff is like ivory waiting for the Weeknd to cut it into skinny pieces. Not a good or bad thing, just a matter of preference. I personally like my ice not so floury, but I know many people that like their ice dessert as fine grained as humanly possible. Anyway, my complaint is that a good portion of the center was not covered in syrup. So disappointing! It's literally ice and syrup, and with the syrup missing, I paid my cold (as ice) hard cash for ice that just made my teeth cold.
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
It's a staple here and you must go. Been here 3x, usually at night and it's always buzzing with people. I think what stands out most about this place compared to others is that it doesn't feel like you're eating shaved ice. It's super smooth and silky. Giving the illusion that it's more like ice cream that's a bit more thicker. Because it's always buzzing, there's always a short line but that gives you a chance to digest their massive menu. There's a lot of flavors including some that I've never heard of and had to Google. This last time I went with combo number three called K's Kraving (Green Tea, Ube, Coconut, Snowcap + Kinako Powder). It was scrumptious. I throughly enjoyed it. We had a few problems with some of my colleagues orders and had to come back a few times to the counter. Even tho by the 3rd they were clearly annoyed, they still smiled. And so I appreciate how much patience the showed our party and our children.

Yelp
This place is super busy and the decorations are amazing there is a giant mural and a bunch of cool merch to look at while you wait in line. Ordering is quite complicated as there are so many options but they have a wide variety of flavors as long as two different sizes and tons of toppings. They offer shaved ice and ice cream which I didn't expect. I had the Hawaiian root bear float with vanilla bean ice cream inside. Service was great and you can watch them make it. They offer napkins and a bathroom so bonus points for that. Everything was amazing definitely recommend!

Yelp
Love the Maui locations, so was thrilled to find them here in Oahu. Different vibe than the Maui locations, but everything tasted the same. The mac nut ice cream was a bit more melted than I'd liked, but it was still good. Parking is in their lot, and the other businesses near them do not seem to be busy. It was actually pretty dead in the plaza, so there were many parking spots available. The staff were welcoming, and our orders were served fairly quick.

Yelp
Yeah, this place is 20 out of 10! First and foremost this was not on my list. Walked in here after Leonard's. And I'm so freaking glad I came in. The shaved ice was so fine, it was literally like snow. This place was busyyyyy, and with good reason. The woman taking our order was so pleasant, friendly, and patient. I told her it's my first time and she walked me through the ordering process. We ordered the sunset beach with fresh mochi and she recommended the vanilla ice cream. The syrups are made in-house. The ice cream is from Maui. The mochi was phenomenal. I had to immediately review this establishment after a few spoonful. Come check this place out! I'm definitely making a pitstop again! And portions are HUGE!

Yelp
We're from LA, where you can find plenty of solid dessert spots, but Ululani's Shave Ice in Honolulu is on a whole different level. The ice is insanely soft--like actual snow--and just melts the second it hits your tongue. Way better than the chunky, crunchy stuff you get at a lot of places back home. I love how spacious this store is and the customer friendly bathroom. Too many restaurants don't have enough space for people to just sit down and relax. The flavors are super fresh and not overly sugary, which we really appreciated. You can actually taste the fruit instead of just straight syrup. It's the kind of treat that hits perfectly after a long day in the sun. Definitely a must-try if you're in Honolulu. We only wish we had something this good back in LA! Oh wait, they have a branch in LA... well, I haven't tried it but there's nothing like Hawaiian shaved ice in Hawaii with the tropical weather.

Yelp
Whatever you do don't order banana syrup. It's my favorite and I never want them to run out again. However, yet another 10/10 experience. This place slaps. Ily - never change. Period. Be here now

Yelp
Parking is harder to find here but its expected in this area. I find that the Maui locations are better at ensuring that the syrup makes it way through all the ice and you dont have as many plain spots. Good but could be better. The other locations in Oahu is better.

Yelp
So happy there is a conveniently located Ululani location in Oahu. Love the flavors, the friendly service and clean shop. It is dangerously close to Leonard's. Walking back and forth between the 2 shops makes me so happy that I can enjoy some malasadas and then walk across the street and get some refreshing shave ice on a hot Hawaiian day!

Yelp
The original Ululani in Maui is a 5/5 - it's wonderful. This is clearly a franchised location and it was passable. I'd probably give it a 3.5/5 if that score was an option but it's a disappointment when you've had the original, love the original and expect that name to translate from location to location. The virtually empty restaurant should have been a sign that something was off but it's hard to pinpoint if it's the flavors of the syrup or the ice cream that really felt off. Hope to return and see it have the same Maui feel!
