The Best Korean Restaurants and Food Carts in Portland, Oregon | Eater Portland

"The Korean Mama called this Hillsboro strip mall spot her favorite Korean restaurant in greater Portland, and it’s easy to see why: The assortment of soothing soups and jjigaes really live up to the name, which translates to “mother” in Korean. Alongside the comfort food bowls of soups and stews, visitors should order a few plates of mandu, stuffed with pork, beef, and vegetables." - Rebecca Roland

The Best Soups in Portland, Oregon | Eater Portland

"The base of this rich soup is bone-in galbi, or Korean short ribs, simmered until tender enough to slide off the bone without much effort. Umma adds egg, vegetables, and glass noodles to the warming broth. Galbi tang is best enjoyed with a side of steamed rice, as well as plenty of banchan to make it a meal." - Rebecca Roland

Where to Eat and Drink in Hillsboro, Oregon | Eater Portland

"Staying true to the name “umma,” which translates to mother, this airport-adjacent restaurant serves homestyle Korean food from a mother-daughter team. Banchan, or small side dishes, arrive alongside plates of steamed or fried mandu, sizzling platters of squid and pork belly bulgogi, and bubbling bowls of jjigae, soups that contain kimchi, spicy fish roe, or beef brisket and soybean paste for ultra umami. In the summer, Umma’s selection of naengmyun variants are a fun way to cool off." - Janey Wong

Me and my uncle went around 11am, the lady in the front greeted us ( she very friendly), it was super nice and quite, I got bibimbap and spicy cold noodles, while my uncle got a bulgogi dishes. The food was amazing, and it was a really great time, and when she served us she described everything to us which I thought was really great! I really do recommend this place, it quiet and just a nice atmosphere!

Google
She was sooooo friendly and the food was authentic Korean too! Scallion kimchi she gave me to try was sooooo good. There were lots of clams in the noodles, and the various free side dishes were just the best.

We loved the foods. Everything was tasty. Always recommended ❤️

Google
Great restaurant experience. The staff were wonderful and the food was great. The bonchon was amazing. I got the spicy squid and kimchi sound. I can't wait to come back.

Google
What a gem. Having been to Korea many times, this place reminded me of the great flavors to be had whole there. The owners have created such a wonderful menu with tons of variety. We drove from Vancouver because the reviews were so great and it did not disappoint. We were greeted and seated by the owner and she was most helpful when it came to menu selections. We opted for tofu soup and crispy beef lettuce wraps. Flavors were off the charts and their homemade chili sauce is the best. We even bought some of it to go! Really looking forward to trying the entire menu! Yes, it's that good!

23.5.5 Cinco de Mayo, we opted by non-hispanic to avoid the crowd & try a new restaurant. We love all the food we ordered. We started with seafood pancake (Pajeon) then we had Japchae with beef and then had Bibimbap. We had their tea for drinks which was very tasty. We're excited go back and try other dishes.

This small, inconspicuous establishment in a small strip mall with several other eateries is a real gem. Everything we have tried here has been delicious. We enjoy the steamed mandu, which is wonderfully seasoned. The Galbi Tang broth has an umami characteristic, but those glass noodles are a challenge for me. It's a tiny place with just a few people on staff, so take your time when you come here. I am not an expert on Korean food, but the food here feels authentic; I recommend it.

Google
My family and I had a good meal here. We enjoyed the Dduk guk (beef rice cake soup), bibimbap on hot stone, kimchi jjigae, and kimchi squid stir fry. We came on a Sunday, so it was busy, but our food still came out in a timely manner.

Yelp
One of the best Korean restaurants I have been to! We ordered the Galbi Tang and Dolsot Bibimbap, we finished it in record breaking time! The soup was so flavorful, tasted like it was simmered for hours. All the banchan served were all very good as well. Will definitely come back!

Yelp
Food tasted good since it was homemade (nothing tasted instant/packaged). The complimentary side dishes were on point (better tasting than most of the Korean restaurants I've been to). I'll let the pictures and video do the talking. Service was friendly. The ambiance was very Korean style/hole in the wall. This place is one of the better Korean restaurants around town. If you like Always Spring Korean restaurant above G-mart you should try this place.

Yelp
A highly recommended Korean restaurant by the famous 'Korean Mama' - well worth the trip to Hillsboro. Typical Korean dishes with bibimbap and bulgogi, but also a lot of other options. We had some soup dishes with glass noodles and meat. Spicy squid was great. Our favorite is the seafood pancake. Fried mandu was also tasty. Large assortment of panjeon dishes with kimchi, pickled cucumber, and fish cake. Roasted corn tea was good. Overall small space with one server, but she was on top of things. Friendly and attentive. Plenty of parking. If in the area, we would return.

Yelp
OMG get the seafood pancake!! Delicious ! Every bite is full of flavor! This place is sooo good! I've had a couple of other dishes here too but get the seafood pancake!

Yelp
An authentic Korean restaurant with great food. You can tell that the food is homemade (and made with lots of care). The food reminded me of what my mom and grandma would make -- it made me very nostalgic and happy to get to taste these dishes far away from home. We got the: fish roe stew (9/10) mandu (steamed) (10/10) Gamjatang (10/10) The gamjatang especially is made with perilla, and this type of dish is not easy to find anywhere, especially not in the States. I was shook to see it here and was shook again by the taste.

Yelp
I don't eat Korean food often since moving out of LA -- maybe a yearly BBQ or AYCE and biannual trip to Nak Won. And I don't order adventurously when it comes to Korean cuisine but the kimchi soup, mandu, and bibimbap I ate here were all tasty. Other reviewers have noted that the place/food has a homemade feel and I agree. Our server Hannah was sweet and helpful, and I think she said her mom or grandma was cooking in the back. No-frills inside. Bathroom was an undisguised supply closet. Prices about a dollar higher than what's on the pictures of the menus. (Sry, didn't grab a photo!) We spent about $90 to feed three people, without ordering too extravagantly (each got a main, plus the aforementioned mandu, plus one $9 bottle Terra of beer). Came with rice and half a dozen banchan. I think we will be back due to proximity and when in need of a heart-warming meal.

Yelp
Today was my first time trying this establishment with my sibling. And it was one of the most wholesome and warmest experiences we've ever had. The hostess was incredibly welcoming and offered us some tea while we waited for out takeout order. She explained to us that these meals are prepared by her mom, which made the name of the establishment make complete sense. While we waited, the overall space was cozy, and somehow, homey. Once our food was ready to go, the hostess did not hesitate to explain what we had ordered and how to eat certain dishes. She was very sweet and attentive. The food itself, was delicious and tasted like a home cooked meal. We got the following: Bassak Bulgogi - this was very well seasoned, but not overwhelming, and the meat was juicy. Bulgogi Dolsot Bibimbap - also very well seasoned, but what really made this dish sing were the sides that you could pile on to the lettuce wrap - which you build yourself, so you can really customize each bite. Seafood Pajeon - this had a nice mix of green onion and squid to batter ratio, and was just flat out delicious. They also gave us soy sauce that was infused with habanero chiles, which made this a unique version of seafood pajeon. Fried Mandu - just really good fried food. And like the pajeon. The habanero soy sauce truly enhances the flavor. All in all. As a Mexican that is very accustomed to well seasoned, prepared home meals, and just flat out delicious and hearty meals. This was an amazing first time and I can't wait to bring my own mom to Umma

Yelp
Let me start by saying that Umma dishes to me tasted homemade, and that's what I aim for with Korean food! I love my banchan and even when we ordered to go, the restaurant provided quite a variety of side dishes. We ordered seafood pajeon and was one of the best I've had. I've ordered ojingeo bokkeum, the spicy squid dish and I loved it. My husband ordered the bulgogi dolsot bibimbap and it looked delicious as well. Would definitely have food here again.

Yelp
Family, this place is amazing. I have passed it for years before we decided to stop here for lunch. I wish we would have come here before now. The food is delicious. It had the perfect amount of flavor. We came during the lunch rush but our server hustled to get the orders in. I will definitely be back here.

Gina K.

Yelp
Foods was average but the customer service was 0 out of 10. Waitresses wasn't friendly from the beginning till end. Our experience was 0 out 10.

Yelp
Korean food is hard to find in pdx - at least good Korean food. This place is in Hillsboro near the strip mall w the burgerville on Cornell. Lots of parking and easy to find. Solid menu with all the standards plus stuff like the cold noodles. Food was good. Service and banchan ok.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch today for the first time. This spot was a bit off my normal lunch route but I was interested to try Umma after reading g good reviews. Located in a strip mall the space is small with little to say hey the food is great. We were seated and menus came, the laminated picture poster was very tattered and worn with many corrections. More images lined the walls of what the food might look like. Being hungry I wasn't in the mood for looking at another option. The restroom clean but also used for a storage closet, clean was important. We ordered a couple dishes, barley tea and water soon followed. The squid scallion pancake came out quickly with a small sauce on the side, excellent flavor. When we were nearly finished the main arrived, a mildly spicy mix of pork onions and sweet Korean chilis sizzled on a cast iron dish. The sides arrived, a generous and tasty assortment of six dishes plus white rice. Food is good here. Tastes authentic and made with care. The space is in need of some charm and updated decor, the tattered menus are not appetizing but fortunately clean. English, well the menu was well written but our server did seem to have much and did well enough to get us through the meal.

Yelp
Moved here from OC, CA so I really needed a go-to place for Korean food. This place has a variety of tasty authentic Korean dishes. It's a bit far from where I live, but it's definitely worth the drive. My favorites are the kimchi jeon (pancake), namul dol sot bibimbap, and the spicy tofu soup.

Jolene L.

Yelp
When service is terrible, it makes the ok food taste bad. It seems that if I looked like a Korean or spoke Korean, she would be acting like my sister-in-law. Oh a second thought, I can't afford a sister-in-law like that. The less I say, the better it is.

Yelp
The food has such a great depth of flavor, they have all the classic dishes and more! My partner and I usually order as takeout and it always holds up to the short drive just fine. Mandu, seafood pancake, and jachae are some of the dishes we get every single time.

Yelp
Umma's is my favorite spot. It's not a large restaurant but it's comforting and I love watching the slideshows of food on the TVs while I wait for my food. I could name all of my favorites but then I'd just be listing the menu. Never too salty, always flavorful, always really really fresh. The owners are amazing, kind, friendly, funny... and service is very quick even when they are juggling multiple tables -- idk how they do it but I really respect them for that!!!! Here's some recent photos :) The pan fried seasoned mackerel is my favorite. I'm craving it as I type !! Love u, Umma!!

Yelp
They are short staffed and it is posted all over the wall and you can see it is just one lady soloing going in/out kitchen to deliver food and taking orders on floor + phone. The food is authentic and not bad for this part of town. It is not located in the most ideal place for dining only, very crammed parking lot as most spaces are taken up by people visit the bars across the parking lot. Not a lot of lights, pretty dark at night and parking lot spaces are taken by again visitors from the bars so you might have a drunkard sitting on your trunk or tossing their purse at your car and smoking right outside your vehicle too. This was really off putting and killed the vibe of wanting to get a homey me. It felt less inviting when you're hungry and walk into a place that is pitch dark and yeah .... Kimchi pork tofu stew aka kimchi jjigae is 10/10 recommend when you're just craving for a pot of hot spicy soup to cure a cold or just feeling like soup day. spicy squid & pork belly stirfy was very flavorful, so good with rice!! though it didn't take like pork belly or it was just a bit over cooked (dry) or too lean for our preference. Would recommend 8/10 Fish roe stew was very different, this is not offered at most korean restaurants and it was recommended too. It has a lot of veggie and broth is more like clear broth base- very fresh. Kimchi stew was a bit more thick consistency. Fish roe if you're a fan for it come try it, it was our first time and I cannot say I would order it again. The fish roe were cooked a bit too much and too dry again for our preference. I had no idea what to expect but as we continue to eat the soup, we just noticed the fish roe was a bit too chewy. Overall pricing is reasonable and highly recommend kimchi jjigae!! Safety Note: I would recommend coming here during the DAY and park closer to the restaurant and if none available then park elsewhere- far away from bar area unless you don't mind your dash cam catching someone with a flash light looking into your car! Yep it was caught on camera, the passenger in the car next to us parked, then walked out, then walked back with a flashlight and was peeping in our car then their drunken friends stood their entire time and then tossed their belongings onto our trunk. By this point I was already back seating inside and just waiting for them to move a bit so we can leave. This was a huge deterrent for me on returning unless I was dying for kimchi jjigae. My go to spot is JCD Pocha unless you're out in Hillsboro area.

Yelp
My favorite place for Korean food in the Portland/Hillsboro area. They have very few staff members, so you might have a wait a bit for your food. They're working really hard to take all their orders, and the food is well worth the wait. All the ban chan was delicious and there was a huge variety. The tofu soup and pork was so good. There's a lot of parking in the lot right outside. Umma is a great addition to the Hilsboro food scene!
google avatar

Miki M.

Yelp
If you're looking for Korean home cook style, this is the place! Everything here is made with love and uses the family recipe. The waitress was very warm and friendly and she'd often mention that her mother was making the dishes from scratch in the kitchen. I was craving naengmyeon so I called ahead to make sure they had some (since it's a summer special). This is probably the best naengmyeon I've had in the area, the broth was so flavorful and had a great beef and vinegar taste. The noodles and beef were cooked perfectly. Definitely want to come back and try the Bibim Naengmyeon next!
google avatar

Shanaz A.

Yelp
Good Korean food, service was okay my friend wasn't too pleased as the owner got on the chair directly next to her and closed the blinds or turned something off? Anyway felt a bit rude because it was so close and she didn't say excuse me or anything as she reached behind my friend. Inside was like okay.

Nick A.

Yelp
Good food. Nice owner. Worth the drive to Hillsboro. We will be back as we enjoyed the experience.

Yelp
It was our very first time, Me and my girlfriend went here on a weekday night, and returned a couple of days later because of the food. Everything that we ordered tasted fantastic. I loved all the dishes, and what unexpectedly caught me off guard was the side dishes. They tasted so fresh and they were probably the best side dishes I ever had at a Korean restaurant. the atmosphere is very welcoming, almost as if you're dining in at a house. Price, quality, quantity: 9.5/10 The amount of food including the side dishes that you get with your order, the quality and taste of all the dishes. I can honestly say this is well worth what you pay for. I'll be coming back here to get my Korean food fixings.
google avatar

Lindsay T.

Yelp
We came in early on a Saturday for lunch and there was only a couple other tables in front of us. We decided to order some of our favorite Korean dishes and they took a little while to come out, but there are also signs stating service will be slower due to being short staffed. When the food did come out it was all delicious! The mandu reminded me of soup dumplings in shape and were juicy inside and tender outside. The stir fried pork belly and squid was flavorful and the squid was tender, not chewy. The banchan had a nice variety and they would refill them on request. The yukajung was well balanced between the glass noodles, beef and green onions and the broth had good flavor. I appreciated how the menu had pictures and the food was presented as advertised. Overall great food, polite service and we will be back!
google avatar

Connie C.

Yelp
If your mana was Korean and cooked homemade food for you, this is your place, because literally the daughter is the server and the mom is in the kitchen cooking. Super authentic and well made Korean food! So excited to be here a little early on a Sunday afternoon. The fried mandu was just like we had in Seoul, perfectly crispy and had savory filling. So amazing!

Lucia K.

Yelp
Absolutely the best Korean food in town. If you can only order one dish, get the pork shoulder bone marrow soup or the seafood pancake. They only have one person in the front and in the back, so the service can be slow, but the food is so worth the wait. The 70 years old grandma makes everything in the house herself, including the kimchi which you can buy it separately, it's superb. Other Banchan are just alright, not outstanding like the other stuff
google avatar

Ploy N.

Yelp
Certainly a far away spot for us but we made it a thing to come check this place out and we couldn't be more glad. The place is very casual and cozy. Seems like a spot that locals come to and has a lot of regulars. Not at all busy on a Sunday afternoon. One lady was serving and taking orders; super friendly and fast. Pretty standard Korean items on the menu. We got the Dolsot Bibimbap, Osam Bulgogi, Seafood Pajeon, and Steamed Egg. Everything was delicious and fresh. We usually get the same item at different Korean places so it's easy for us to notice how much more superior their food is here. The Bibimbap was very satisfying with the perfect amount of veggie sides and meat; all the components came together very well. The pork belly and squid in the Osam Bulgogi were tender and tasted of quality. Similarly with the Pajeon, full of green onions and squid. The batter was the right thickness and crispiness; not at all oily and very flavorful both on its own and with the sauce. The Egg was also refreshingly hearty and fulfilling. Banchans were simple and not the most varietal but, again, very fresh and high quality. You can taste that everything was handmade and well cared for. Least to say, we're very very satisfy with our food. Felt a whole lot more rejuvenated afterwards. Wish this place wasn't so out of the way so we can visit the maybe our new favorite spot more frequently. Great food, service, and price. Do check them out.

Alexus Y.

Yelp
This is a solid Korean restaurant! They are still in the works of finding more help and have "help wanted" signs posted throughout the restaurant so please be mindful of that as you dine, since service may be slower. Onto the review.. with the cold weather, I appreciated the warm corn silk tea they provide in a mug upon sitting for dine-in. Few Korean spots in the Portland metro region offer that in comparison to other bigger cities that I've visited, so that was nice. Menu options have always been solid choices every time I've gone. I was looking forward to the giant mandu but the ones I got from the starter menu were smaller (though 10 pcs.) and perfect for 2 to share. Still delicious and piping hot. Kimchi jiggae includes pork and tofu. It was a solid choice but not exactly memorable. Though it hits the spot for a kimchi jiggae craving, I'd try something else if I return. I enjoyed the variety of banchan and the sweet auntie who served it. Many of the guests were Korean as well which may speak to the authenticity of the spot. If you're looking for a solid Korean restaurant, this is a great spot to visit and I'll certainly be back to try other menu options.

Yelp
Ordered take out and had a very disappointing experience. Lady at the counter was very rude. My husband really wanted to pee so he asked her where the bathroom was. She yelled at him "PAY FIRST!!" What did she think he was going to do? Use the bathroom and then walk away without picking up the food that we had already ordered?! We were planning to eat the food picnic style at a park. However we realized after arriving at the park and there were no utensils provided with the to go order. We had to cancel the plan to eat at the picnic. Ultimately after coming home, we tried the seafood bibimbap and kalbi tang we order but did not like either. The squid in the seafood bibimbap was poor quality and hard to chew. The kalbi tang was too salty and wayyyyy too oily. No radish or egg in the kalbi tang either which I'm used to. Needless to say, we will never be ordering here again. There are plenty of better Korean restaurants in nearby Aloha or Beaverton.

Luan N.

Yelp
The food, the staff, the DUMPLINGS were all on point. The portions were good and reasonable for the price. Really good hearty soups stews that are good for sharing family style.

Yelp
Just like Halmoni and Eomma used to make! I'm so happy to learn about this place. I ordered the Seafood Pajeon (A4) and Kimchi Jjigae (E1) to go. Both were excellent, and I was glad to see that sides were included. Being so close to home, I will be eating here on a regular basis so I can get my family food fix!

Yelp
Come on, folks! Let's all rally around this fabulous new Korean spot! My husband and I wanted to dine in. After VIvi's and 808 were unavailable as that option, we chose Umma based on 12 5-star reviews. I am here to make it 13! This tiny, literally hidden gem opened in March. The owner is currently doing literally everything --- ordering inventory, cooking (along with her mother), serving, chatting up the customers, even washing dishes. Jars of homemade pickles and kim chee fill the front fridge. There are maybe 6 tables total. The food was 100% tasty with generous portions and reasonable prices. My hubs and I both got the Dolsot Bibimbap, he got the beef and me, the Veggie. Now, ordering Veggie can be a crapshoot. Not at Umma's, Big stone pot filled with multitude of finely sliced carrots, bean sprouts, spinach, tofu, zucchini, green peppers, rice, thick hot sauce. His was the same with crispy slices of beef. Flavorful! Small dishes all tasted different, quite fresh, crunchy. We also ordered the steamed egg! Owner checked on us several times and even asked if the room temp was too cold. (It wasn't!) Umma is tucked into the little strip mall near Cornell and 25th by the car wash. Same mall as Papa John's and Genghis Khan. You can't see it from the street. Drive past the tavern and it will be to your right. Well worth seeking out! We have eaten at a lot of Korean places. Umma was one of the best! Let's support these small restaurant owners who are brave enough to start a business in this post COVID time.

Yelp
As a Korean American living in Oregon it's been a struggle finding authentic Korean food. Once our family heard there was a new spot in town we knew we had to check it out and it did not disappoint! We got the uguji galbitang, bibimbap, and yukgehjang. My parents approved which must mean something. The taste was authentic, and they even market their restaurant as food to eat when you miss a home cooked Korean meal. They also gave a generous portion of banchan (side dishes) which I appreciated. They also have a fridge inside where they sell fresh kimchi and side dishes. Service was super friendly! Would definitely come again.

Yelp
Came here for lunch today. We all ordered dolsot bibimbap and it was so yummy! I had to be different and got the bulgogi bibimbap. I was impressed that the stoneware bowls were so hot. Most of the places around here don't serve such a hot dish, and so the rice won't get as crispy as it should. Whatba great experience. We also ordered the seafood pancake, which was really good too. We'll definitely be back.
google avatar

Yelp
We came to try this place because we heard they had spicy marinated crab. Came in to find those are seasonal for the winter time so we'll definitely be back for that. The eating area is nice and clean surprisingly for the size of the restaurant. The hostess was very friendly and smiling when she greeted us. We ordered the steamed mandus, E6 soup, and the spicy pork. First the ban Chan container was awesome. The container was a 3 compartment organized with kimchi, some kind of pickled pepper, and fish cake. There was also some broccoli and some potatoes. The mandus are huge. There was 4 of them and it tasted freshly steamed even though about 25 mins has passed since driving home. The meat inside was very tender and absorbed the spicy sauce well. The spicy pork was tender still so it wasn't over cooked. It could've used a bit more intensity in the flavor but still satisfied the craving. The soup was more mild but my fiancé really liked it. It had a home cooked taste to it and the pork in it melted off the bone. Defiantly recommend giving this place a try. It might be our new Korean go to.

Yelp
One of those hidden gems where you hem and haw about whether you should tell people about it. Umma's is tucked in a strip mall, the entrance faces away from the street. Great, home-y Korean food. We've sampled the mackerel, spicy beef soup, spicy squid, and all the banchan. Each dish had deep umami flavors. Was expecting more spicy to them, but think we can request then to bump it up next time. Their must coveted food item- the huge mandu dumplings- have been sold out whenever we stopped by for dinner after 6. Get there early!
google avatar

Klay K.

Yelp
Food was very good, flavor of the beef Bulgogi was on point. Would definitely recommend this place to any one looking for some good Korean food.

Yelp
We ordered the steamed Mangu, E11 & E15. 1st time eating Korean food, but it was amazing. The soup was one of the best soups I've ever had in my entire life. Everything just had a perfect flavor. Also the best dumplings I've had in my life. The waitress was also very friendly and brought out more sauce and kimchi (which was delicious). It was a relaxing and calm environment and everything was clean. I appreciated the Purel bottles everywhere.

Yelp
Let me begin by saying that my (Korean) friend really likes this place and prefers it to some other restaurants. However... it underperformed with me (not Korean). I ordered the egg soufflé and it was unfortunately burned on the bottom. This would not matter to me if it didn't negatively affect the taste of the entire container of food. Boo. I was disappointed they were out of gamjatang but that's a great sign: must be delicious! We ordered other soups and they were tasty. My other criticism would be that the banchans were all very similar to each-other so you didn't get a diversity of flavors. It's a very homey family style restaurant, so it's a nice option to try. I might be completely off. Try for yourself!

Yelp
My husband & I are here nearly every week for their kimchi jjigae with tofu. It's the best I've ever had, the flavors so deliciously layered, savory with just the perfect amount of spicy. The folks that run it are so kind and remember us and our order every time we walk in. They always give us the most delicious house tea and have friendly conversation as we wait for takeout. The restaurant space is very comfortable with relaxing ambiance, and they do great at making you feel at home. If you're not familiar with the food and/or how it is traditionally eaten, they are kind at teaching how and suggesting things to try. I love this place and the family that runs it, 6 stars!

Yelp
A small mom and pop Korean restaurant that has some nice authentic dishes. I had the bas sak bulgogi and the yukgaejang. The bulgogi was like a meat pancake where the formed the meat in a patty shape. The meat was flavorful and was good with the side of lettuce and dipping sauce. The yukgaejang was good and flavorful. The server was very nice and friendly. They also let us know ahead that there's a staffing shortage and to be patient which was a nice thing to do.

Yelp
Absolutely love Umma. Small family owned business so please be patient since it is only one server. Service here is super friendly and attentive. The food is really good, full of flavor with generous portions. I will definitely be returning !

Yelp
I finally went around that area and was able to order take out from there. They opened at 11am and I called at around 11:30am. They said my seafood pancake would be ready in 15min. I looked everywhere for a menu on Yelp and saw the seafood pancake was about $13. That was maybe awhile ago but would assume the price would go up to like $15 or something. Anyways, it was closer to $18 and I was like yikes, that's a lot but if it's good it's fine! The seafood pancake smelled good, the lady was friendly, and I went home. Yes, it wasn't as crispy since I didn't eat it on the spot so I didn't doc points off for that. The batter was kind of thick and it felt heavy and filling. I've had other seafood pancakes and I've made my own, too (not an expert) but the dough part felt dense for me. There were a few octopus pieces here and there but not enough for the price. Why are pajeons so expensive anyways, just a genuine question since they're usually appetizers? Anyways, it was okay. The sauce that came with it was not spicy. Just a baby kick. I can't really do spicy and I poured a bunch in one bite. Maybe their soups and rice are good but it would be nice to have a menu with the price available online, especially when people order to-go.

Yelp
Came on a quiet Thursday night, and glad we did. The best Korean dinner we had in long long time. The Yukgaejang was spot on and the Gyeran-jimm had that cooked in a pot flavor, but the real star was pizza sized Bassak bulgogi! Most of all, was made this great was the family run feel. Will gladly trek over from Portland to support these fine folks.

Yelp
Amazing food at great prices. Some of the sides are unique and family recipes which is a huge bonus. Some of the best squid I've ever had!

My friends are super fan of korean food. but since there are many other good food options here in portland so we weren't thinking to try korean food. after few winery visit we thought we try and search our favorite dishes. We were very satisfied with all we had. especially hot soup with fish roe and ssuckot veggies and tofu. Thanks Umma!!

Yelp
I wish they were open 24/7! Their kimchi jjigae is the best thing I have ever eaten. Everything comes out piping hot (beware of the tea!), the service is impeccable, they don't get upset when asking for multiple kimchi refills, and are more than happy to answer questions. The only thing that would make this better is if I could actually fit one of everything in my belly.

Yelp
Really enjoyed their food. Authentic, flavorful, and clean. Coming from SoCal, where the biggest K-Town in the U.S. with the cornucopia of all things Korean located, this definitely met my expectations. This is a small, quaint neighborhood spot where you can enjoy mak-geol-li with jeon or with the banchan on a rainy day (or not), or grab a simple, hearty soup and meal. I will absolutely come back again. Of course, my first love is always the late night grubs in K-Town in L.A. 'Til I return home, this shall be one of my go-to places in Oregon.

Yelp
My go to Korean place- everyone I take to this place has such a positive experience here. Since moving to Oregon this is my number one place for my Korean foods. Also the cold noodles are good too, my go to order is seafood bibimbap. My boyfriend loves the spicy beef soup since it's super flavorful. My bibimbap is crunchy and good
