The 18 Best Restaurants & Bars In Pioneer Square

"Underbelly is a basement bar that specializes in natural wine and snacks like hot pretzels and grilled cheese. This place doesn’t take itself too seriously—there’s ska music in the background while nature documentaries play on a projector. Come here with anybody who likes to drink wine and simultaneously listen to syncopated saxophone honks." - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley

The Restaurants & Bars Featured On "Love Is Blind," Ranked

"Between the urban underground vibes, tin ceiling tiles, and luxe cocktails, Underbelly is an ideal venue for a big night out in Pioneer Square—so it’s fitting that the men have their bachelor party here. This basement bar serves drinks involving thai tea simple syrup, cola reductions, and coconut oil-washed bourbon. It also has natural wine and bites like garlic butter grilled cheese or tartes flambée with salmon and capers. Kwame calling Seattle "overpriced" and “not that great” was the most dramatic moment that went down, which honestly is the most Seattle-specific kind of drama that we can think of anyway." - kayla sager riley, aimee rizzo

Underbelly Review - Pioneer Square - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Located in a heavily air-conditioned basement in Pioneer Square, Underbelly is a great place to drink interesting orange wine, listen to reggae and ska music, watch wildlife documentaries on a projector, and eat a really good hot dog on a baguette topped with melted raclette cheese. If you work in the area, you’d be smart to forgo your usual Happy Hour spots and come here instead." - Aimee Rizzo

Google
Juliana was soooo sweet, professional, honest and sincere. Tried our first dirty martini. We would’ve stayed longer but it got super busy right before they closed. We will definitely be back!

Google
You walk down 2 sets of stairs from the sidewalk. It’s below ground. Bartender was cool. They have beer and cocktails.

Kent Lewis

Google
Very friendly staff and the $13 game day special of a tall boy (Ranier) and a shot (Four Roses) is a sold value. The sidewalk seating is ideal for people watching too.

Brendon Enlow

Google
Bartender lectured the woman I was with about drinking too much and giving her some diatribe about borrowing happiness from tomorrow. Totally unwarranted. Other than that the music was cool and the people were cool. Good spot to hang out after lumen field.

Damian Sworan

Google
A great bar if you like shitty 1980s b-side songs. Nothing like deterring people from your open dance floor on a Saturday. Fro real though, the “DJ” or clown that had aux should be ashamed… I’m sure mid-50’s year old my stepdad would love this place.

Jeremy Yowell

Google
5/5 stars - an awesome bar. Service was phenomenal, drinks were strong, and the vibes perfectly on point. Absolutely will be back. Get a dirty martini!

Google
Best non-alcoholic cocktail in a long time and decent food pop-up in a unique location. House wines were very good. That said, their Point of Sale needs a lot of work! The total wasn't itemized and then was $12 more than our drinks(with tax!). This was odd as it asked for tip on top of this 'total'. I tipped on a per drink basis and then the total flashed the original amount plus my selected tip and they printed out an itemized receipt for me with the correct amount? Now, I need to check my CC statement to confirm. Bartender blamed the POS system & said displayed amount was taxed total plus 20%, so I'll give benefit of the doubt there, but it still needs to change as it offers options for tipping above this amount without stating 20% is already included. This and their standard drafts being in a schooner as default was very unusual to me.

Google
This place has potential but lacks decor. The bar tender was very nice, and the bar was clean. It was a good 1 stop quick drinks as we continued on to our destination.

Yelp
My friends and I went here for the pioneer square art walk today and I was going to get a wine but I saw the way the bartender was stirring the cocktail for the person ahead of me so I got the UB Daquiri and it was chefs kiss delicious and the pepperoni pizza and that was also delicious and both were on happy hour. Amazing. Will have to go again.

Yelp
We were here recently for a event that included Underbelly as one of the stops. Despite not having all the details, as everyone began popping in early on a Saturday morning, the staff was very accommodating, friendly and had good food and beverages. Loved the vibe too.

Yelp
We popped in during the Lunar New Year festival when we were trying to escape the rain. It's a great spot in the "underground" section of Pioneer Square. The bartenders are friendly and made us great drinks. They have classic movies playing on the projector. We didn't catch any live music while we were there but they have it other days. We also grabbed a flatbread pizza and it was tasty. We'll be back!

Yelp
Cool bar that we stopped into and stumbled upon some free live music. Bartenders were so friendly and we had so much fun. I loved it here

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit here on a Sunday night. It was so chill, and although empty at first, the later it got, it started to fill up, and regardless of whether there were two people or twenty, the service was amazing. This place had such a chill vibe; most people minded their business, and I really liked the fun, relaxing atmosphere. Most people at the bar were easily interacting, while others stayed with their group; you didn't get a pretentious vibe here, and that was impressive for bars that look like this and so close to the historic Pioneer Square. A moment that stood out to us was when a local bar owner who was visiting (and friends with the Underbelly owners) decided to challenge one of the bartenders to a game of chess; it was hilarious watching this because he was so obviously tipsy yet determined, where else would you witness this?! :) We easily connected with the bartenders; they were so friendly and tried to chat with each person at the bar. They didn't have that air of arrogance you find in the city so often. One of the bartenders gave us a brief rundown of the place and mentioned the bar inhabits the old bank, which, if you do the Underground tour, you walk through in the original part of old Seattle. He also mentioned Underbelly is family-owned but relatively new within the last five years (if I remember correctly). FYI, the menus currently on Yelp are outdated, so I uploaded new menus for now as they're not currently providing happy hour. I recommend this place for friend groups, dates, or casual drinking. It's a nice aesthetic inside that can create a vibe, depending on what you're going for. We'll be back for some of the live music, which is featured on their IG.

Yelp

Yelp
Underbelly has a Great vibe and drinks. Fun place to enjoy a night out with your friends.

Gilbert O.

Yelp
This was a great place to bring friends and listen to some great live music. Friendly bar staff. Amazing Pizza. A must visit if you're in town.

Emma S.

Yelp
on st patties we were not told or shown other than in tiny print on a 4x6 paper that there was a 40% automatic gratuity. we werent shown our total until after the card was swiped, pretty shady to me. but this was our second time, the first time we came for what we thought was jazz night but instead got a rapper who was not our taste. drinks are average

Shelby T.

Yelp
Limited menu. Boring atmosphere. Bartender was rude and dismissive. Would not recommend to anyone.
google avatar

Carrie M.

Yelp
A good night captured during a visit here. So much fun. The people here are fabulous and the cocktails are delicious. The shows are spectacular as well! Highly recommend.

Adam B.

Yelp
A great place to see jazz on Tuesdays, Dj's on weekends and sometimes local cutting edge synth wave-pop. great drinks and friendly staff.
google avatar

Nyla K.

Yelp
We came here after the mariners game and we were the first ones there so it was empty. The bartender was very friendly and even played some songs by request. The place has a stage and just the other day they had a cabaret show so I can imagine how different this place is for events. The bathroom is down the hall a bit and the walk there seemed a bit spooky since there was no one around and felt really creepy. The drinks were pretty tasty.

Yelp
After grabbing dinner in the area I wanted to get another drink and to see what the Thursday night Seattle life was like. I stumbled across Underbelly near the Pioneer Square. Dive bar vibes so don't expect a fancy cocktail list. Seems like a cool place to bring a group of friends and have a good time. Nothing fancy. Bartenders were attentive, they made sure I was okay because I was there alone.

Yelp
The Underbelly is one of my favorite bars in Seattle. It's (usually) low key vibe, killer drinks, friendly and knowledgeable bartenders, and live music make it a great place to meet up with friends or swing by solo for an after-work beverage. Oh and their grilled cheese sandwich is amazing!
google avatar

Diane L.

Yelp
The bartender was very friendly. Drinks we good as well. This place is a little hidden gem forsure

Yelp
The vibes are good, and the soundtrack hits just right. No war but class war! 10/10 would recommend

Autumn M.

Yelp
Bartender was extremely rude to me and my friends. So weird we just walked in and we're completely ignored then after everyone else was served (that came in behind us) he came over to us with an attitude. Would not recommend this place more friendly places in pioneer square go to damn the weather across the street

Patrick C.

Yelp
Why is the pizza here so good?? Went for a quick drink before the Sounders game, keep coming back for the pies.

Luke P.

Yelp
My company was filming a project nearby and Underbelly was kind enough to rent some space for us. However, they went above and beyond to make us feel valued and cared for. Geoffrey was so kind and accommodating that it was an excellent experience for our actors and crew. The food they provided was incredible! Their MARGHERITA pizza is to die for! We loved it and are excited to come back!

Nicho Y.

Yelp
Such a vibe! Go on Tuesdays for some amazing Seattle jazz. One of the few good jazz oriented places

Robbie S.

Yelp
Junk service for overpriced drinks with a below average menu. Sat at the bar for 15 minutes with no acknowledgement by both bartenders. Dont waste your money.

Yelp
Great bar on 1st & Washington. We popped in for some delicious tacos by the pop-up Dualidad. We tried the Cali-T, the Munchwrap Alambre, an elote, and the cucumber shiso Agua fresca. Great flavor and bringing some new twists to the taco world. (It's not the usual taco truck taco.) l don't get me wrong- those are fabulous too. Dualidad is pushing the boundaries but in a delicious and fun way.) Great service! I am not much of a drinker but I want to come back and try Underbelly's signature margarita with an order from Dualidad! I should comment- I appreciate the vaccine card/mask ask. Happy to do our part to keep others and ourselves safe while supporting local businesses!

Yelp
What a nice surprise! Everytime I went to Deadline or Damn the weather I've noticed this place from the other side but never checked. It has a dive bar vibe from the outside. So we only went there because the Valtesse production was presenting Red Lights Nights and I'm pretty impressed. What a night, I had a great experience, the bar with the show area is well organized and the cocktails were really good. Staff was nice and cocktails came on time. Not very interesting food there so we didn't try but the cocktails . I recommend going there once they have a show going on.

Yelp
Underbelly is a fantastic cocktail/mixology lounge in the Pioneer Square neighborhood, but within an easy walk from the stadiums. At first impression, Underbelly has that Pioneer Square dive bar vibe until you look up at eye their booze collection. It is top shelf and high end. Dahlia, a brand name, took care of us, and he was great. My cocktail arrived in crystal a cut glass and the vodka from Poland was as smooth as a bald man's scalp. There were so many choices of liquor, I thought I was in Portland at one of their acclaimed whiskey bars. Seriously, if you're near the ballparks or in Pioneer Square, this is the bar to go to.

Liam C.

Yelp
Fantastic cocktails, great pizza and rad staff. Whenever I'm in pioneer square I make a point to always stop by Underbelly.
google avatar

Yelp
Was bar hopping at a few spots and landed here. This comment is for the bartender with locs and his girlfriend. I asked for a pickle back and the bartender and his girl went to the back. When they came back out, he gave me a shot and a cup with warm dark liquid that smelled like pee. 0/10 do not recommend. Very weird vibes... even for downtown Seattle...
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing cocktails! They're downstairs off 1st Ave, and I never really thought to go here pre-pandemic. But they request proof of vaccination, and I'm trying to support businesses that support public health and take care of their staff. It got a little hot and muggy inside, but they have a few street side tables and it was nice up there. Tried a few delicious cocktails in the menu, and am looking forward to going back and trying others!

Yelp
Good bar. It was crowded but the ambience was nice. Good place to pre-game or bar hopping.

Terri A.

Yelp
Love this place! Awesome drinks! Great food! Cool vibe Staff was friendly! Thank you for making me feel welcome! I will definitely be back for some tacos
google avatar

Erik S.

Yelp
Wife and I popped in while we were waiting for a ferry. Good spot to wait for a ferry, btw. Vibe is somewhere in the vicinity of hipster-Marxist. So, Seattle. Drinks were pricey but good and the little flatbread pizza made for a nice light dinner snack.
google avatar

Ivan P.

Yelp
Their skid row old fashioned is one of the best old fashioneds I've ever had. Highly recommend

Ian C.

Yelp
Josh was an amazing bartending. Very friendly and so knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend coming here before the underground town. They make any cocktail you can think of. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Tosca B.

Yelp
Family run business, great atmosphere and great cocktails! The bar has darker lighting, but it's very intimate and fun. Charcuterie and cheese plates for snacks. Very nice spot to grab a drink.
google avatar

Grace C.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots to bring people if you want casual drinks. The food choices aren't the most plentiful but if you're looking for good drinks and a great vibe I would definitely recommend this place. They specialize in natural wine which is really hard to find in Seattle but they also have a full bar. They have a lot of different food - including raclette cheese options which I find really unique too. I like that the service you get is really personable and it's an easy spot to meet up with several people. Lots of tables and space for you to utilize. Highly recommend for a low key get together right after work or even before a game.

Yelp
This place is a wonderful and welcoming family owned bar, they have amazing cocktails and I can't wait to check out the new entertainment!
google avatar

Elliott F.

Yelp
What a great place! The bartender was a drink master! He made us Black Manhattans Which were amazing! Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Shawna S.

Yelp
I love everything about this place. The music on Saturday night after 10 was pretty gawd awful. But that aside...the drinks, staff, people, art, and overall aesthetic were 10/10. I'll be back for sure.
google avatar

Julia C.

Yelp
Great new spot for drinks and light bites in Pioneer Square - well, unless you get the hot dog I suppose! Space is big enough for a work gathering to be comfortable, floor is set up such that you don't feel tied to a seat and can migrate comfortably. Even though it's underground, enough light gets in from the doorway and windows that you can still enjoy Seattle's resplendent summer evenings. Fabulous selection of European wines which the bartender let me sample before I pulled the trigger. My buddy got a bourbon cocktail that had a delicious citrus twist. This isn't just a ritzy cocktail bar, though - they also have old standbys like margaritas and Montucky tall boys, albeit a bit pricier, since you're paying for ambiance. A fun touch is the new projector screen where a wealth of old classics play. The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly and Godzilla were queued up for our visit! Highly recommend if you'd like to escape the crowds but still enjoy the unique charm of Pioneer Square.

Bella Z.

Yelp
What a great bar. It has a comfy dive bar feel with really well made drinks. Bartender was so friendly and really made the experience so awesome. I would also recommend asking about the history of this place because it was really interesting and added to the experience. Overall great bar.
google avatar

Irland A.

Yelp
I don't typically write reviews, but this place deserves one. Besides the affordable drinks you will find a great atmosphere, cool decor, and a friendly staff. I can not recommend this place enough. If you are in pioneer square and want a real Seattle vibe... have a drink here. You won't regret it.
google avatar

Rian F.

Yelp
Fun little place that ordered pizza while we were there from local large chain pizza place... but went quite well with my beers. Enjoyed the atmosphere as it feels like a locals only place. Would give it a try again
google avatar

Ashlyn H.

Yelp
Josh the bartender is a master of his craft. He served my mother and I the best Old fashions we've ever had and he picked some killer tunes, had the whole bar singing along. Hats off to you Josh!
google avatar

Yelp
I'm driving all the way from Huntington Beach ~ just for UNDERBELLY ~ Of course I'll have to take the train back home!
google avatar

Gris S.

Yelp
This place was just what we needed. Great alcohol selection and the best customer service!!! Our bartender, Jake, knew we were out of towners and provided us tips and guide. Also good history of Seattle. If you're in the area you should definitely stop by!

Sarah M.

Yelp
Love this bar. Good service, nice drinks, but the best fact is that they actually care about the community. Family owned bar and they have good selection. This is the best bar in pioneer square.
google avatar

Renee M.

Yelp
we live in the neighborhood and love coming to this bar, but the new person working was so rude and made us feel so uncomfortable that we left immediately. normally id give her the benefit of the doubt but i know they worked across the street because they were super rude to me and my friends from out of town when we dined there, i assumed maybe they didnt like working there and tried not to take it personally but now im convinced they're just not a very nice person. their attitude made us feel so awkward. it was a "what the hell do you want?" kinda vibe
google avatar

Kayla P.

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere and amazing drinks. I got the Midnight Delight and my bartender took such great care preparing my drink and making sure it was perfect for me. Deff a recommend!
