One of the most memorable meals of my life! We came to Macua for my husband's 40th birthday dinner in Osaka and it was truly a milestone meal for a milestone birthday. The staff – a team of two of just one chef and one host/waiter – were extremely welcoming and impeccable hosts. The intimate setting with an open kitchen really added to the experience.
I assume the tasting menu changes regularly but some highlights of our meal:
-The Entrée course was an array of small plates including mackerel ceviche, an octopus and potato croquette, turnip bavarois with caviar and grilled scallop
-Soup is not generally a highlight for me, but here it was exceptional! We were served a cold corn soup that was creamy and delicious. I wanted to savor it.
-My husband was particularly excited about the "foie gras hamburger" course – a bit of fun infused in an otherwise quite fancy meal!
-So much of the presentation/plating was art, but we particularly got a kick out of the way they served their (delicious) sweet corn ice cream! It looked like actual corn on the cob.
Highly recommend it for a special meal while in Osaka. You won't regret it!
