The 22 Best Seattle Cafes To Work In - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Is it a wine bar? Coffee shop? Restaurant? Yes. At this all-day cafe in West Seattle, there are no rules—and we love them for it. You could have a lime-zested banana miso iced latte alongside a quality grilled cheese. Or wine at 8am. Answer some emails in the mahogany cellar-like dining room, and enjoy a picpoul lip-stinger exploding with raw pear and salinity. It pairs equally well with light laptop work as it does with not giving a sh*t." - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley

The Best Wine Bars In Seattle - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Theoretically, you could have wine at 8am at this all-day cafe in West Seattle—because there are no rules, and we love them for it. And while you don’t need to be a wine person to enjoy a glass here, the nerdiness is in full force for those who care. That picpoul lip-stinger exploding with raw pear and salinity will be served in paper-thin stemware, chilled to the appropriate temperature (read: not ice-cold), and pairs equally well with light laptop work as it does with not giving a sh*t. Upwell’s a situational chameleon, so use it like one." - aimee rizzo, gabe guarente

Upwell is the West Seattle champion of all-day cafes - Review - Seattle - The Infatuation

The Best Restaurants in West Seattle | Eater Seattle

"The restaurant sibling to Walter’s Wine is one of those all-day hangout spots that have proliferated all over the city. It’s a coffee and pastry place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., then switches over to a wine bar for the evening. There’s no better way to pass the time than snacking on a prosciutto and burrata cheese plate with apricot mostarda and sipping a chilled glass of summery Italian Pinot Grigio." - Laura LeMoon

I hate to write something great because it’s a great new spot with a very cool vibe that’s not over-burdened with long lines of people yet! Very lucky to have this in West Seattle, and convenient for me right before I walk around servicing pets. Second day back in a row. (The first day Austin waited on me.) Cool vibe with music is playing both days. Get here early enough and you grab a seat by the huge picture windows. This place is great for working, meeting with friends, or just enjoying a few moments to yourself. Great aestethics, personable baristas… I truly forget I’m in Seattle here 🤩, as it has a touch of European/hip & classy vibe. Crowd was anywhere from 25-50 age bracket. The wine room adjacent (Walter’s) also gives it a European dash of flavor. I work in pet care, so since it’s named after an actual dog Walter with dog logo merchandise, I’m a huge fan right away. The crowd was busier this morning than yesterday at 8, little less relaxing with a mixed bag of people meeting with friends, solo people working, and people like myself just grabbing their first coffee. A great way to start the day here. Coffee is just as pricey just like anywhere else. $8 for a 12 oz mocha latte with oat milk. Delicious. Both times. The smile and genuineness of both baristas I met is outstanding. How refreshing of an experience, (versus the place next door where they actually seem bothered you’re in line ordering. I can say this because I have a credible history of not only buying coffee there for years but also helping as a novice assistant to remodel it.)

What a cool new luxury dining spot. Oh yeah and they have wine. Lots of it. You can even buy bottles to bring home. Rabbit dish was my favorite. I know. Sounds bad but so good. Chef makes great madeleine dessert too. Owner Chris very friendly. Can’t wait to try their breakfast and lunch.

Google
This is my 3rd visit (2 breakfast, 1 dinner) and I have to say the entire experience is amazing! I crave the delicious smashed avocado & Burrata toast - fresh, tasty and fulfilling. Coffee is always top notch and today’s special was not only beautiful in presentation including an edible gold leaf on top, but absolutely delicious - a carrot cake inspired latte! Dinner and wine is amazing too - this is becoming a “go to” for me in the junction! Oh- and service is always amazing!

Google
I want to make sure this place gets 5 stars because they are high quality and the experience is always great. Customer service is top notch, quality of food and coffee is amazing. Wine selection is also fantastic. In my opinion it’s the best cafe in the junction and likely beyond. I have been there many times and I only have two points of concern- the prices for some products seem a bit crazy. The avocado toast (although so delicious! Is $17?! It’s not large by any means and feels like a lot. Is it the burrata? The other thing is the puff pastries are hit or miss. Sometimes they’re flavorful and worth the 9 bucks, but sometimes lacking.

Food was DELICIOUS! Perfect coffee. Beautiful atmosphere just a little cramped though. Love Chef Andria

Google
I was here for a happy hour event and the apps here were absolutely superb. They were inventive, such as exotic fruit and beautifully designed crisps, and so delicious! The wine was great too and the service was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be back another time for a glass of wine and some apps or even a dinner.

Google
Great new spot on the junction for food and drinks! My husband and I went with our baby (kid friendly) and had breakfast there. Highly recommend the avocado toast. We also went for drinks and dinner around 4pm and the food was phenomenal. We got two appetizers and two plates which was more than enough food. The chef clearly spent time in fine dining and it is incredible that there is a master sommelier at the restaurant. The menu rotates weekly and this vibe is something West Seattle needed! I would highly recommend it for a date night or outing with friends

Google
A fun & enjoyable spot — the orange wine from Greece was so good — the baked goods look so tasty as well!

Yelp
Upwell Wine & Coffee is showing it has potential, while it's still finding its rhythm the atmosphere is definitely a step above the big chains, and it's nice to have a local spot in West Seattle trying something different. The coffee and snacks are above average, small batch foods are a bit hit-or-miss depending on the day. Service is friendly and personal, which is always appreciated. Later in the day, the wine selections are solid, and the staff is helpful with recommendations.

Yelp
I was running an errand out towards Fauntleroy. However, before picking up West Seattle Freeway to 99 North to head back to Shoreline, twice I detoured to check out Upwell Wine & Coffee on 11/10/24 and 11/22/24. This neighborhood gem has been open since July and uses a winning formula that has worked for other similar businesses throughout Seattle. Examples that include Fable, MoRA, Layers, Cardoon, Sound & Fog, Bar Bayonne, Baskette and shuttered ones I remember fondly like Vif and Petite Soif. The formula includes being a welcoming and knowledgeable destination. Upwell also allows one to leisurely savor a well crafted beverage or pour with tasty sweet and savory bites, bonus if there's scratch made baked goods! Until 3pm it functions as a cafe and at 4pm it changes focus towards wine. I liked the layout, vibe (great music), striking flower arrangements, and pleasant counter service on my first visit on 11/10/24. I enjoyed onsite a mocha, a moist slice of orange cranberry pound cake, and a flavorful rosemary ham puff pastry. Very pleasant! My second visit on 11/21/24 was right at the time transition, so I ended up getting a mocha to go. This was totally spot-on with a longer than normal drive back home due to the traffic and inclement weather. Terrific find!

Yelp
Was in the area and decided to pop in! Best decision I could've made because the ambience, service, and food/beverages were amazing! Loved the Mushroom and Hazelnut Puff paired with a classic latte. The coffee tastes high quality and made very well. Will definitely return!

Yelp
Very cool spot that's cafe until about 3 and then wine bar in the evening. I showed up post bar transition so I had a delicious and unique sparkling tea and the manchego plate. The service was FANTASTIC here. The staff are knowledgeable and passionate about anything and everything. They also do tastings on Tuesdays at 5, which was cool. I'd def come back and I'd like to try their cafe menu sometime.

Yelp
The service was friendly and attentive, the ambience was upscale casual and small, the avocado toast was something special, the chai latte was just the right amount of sweet and spicy. Wish it was more affordable but that's just how it goes these days.

Yelp
Really yummy decaf coffee here. The avocado toast totally exceeded my expectations. The customer service was solid. The atmosphere and decor was great too. Can't wait to go here again.

Yelp
Pleasant atmosphere and friendly service. This is not a deal breaker but music is a bit too loud to enjoy a conversation. Presentation is lovely and food tasted fresh and good.

Yelp
Great coffee and puff. Brought my kid home a Nutella rice krispy, it was a huge hit and a good laugh as she could barely fit it in her mouth.

Yelp
What a great experience visiting this new wine bar! Wonderful service, staff, food and wine!

Yelp
Limited selection of food and coffee isn't so great here. Customer service was decent and the atmosphere was cute. I don't think I recommend this place and that I'll be back here again.

Yelp
Good coffee with a nice ambiance. Service was great. The only downside is there is very limited seating

Alex S.

Yelp
Phenomenal selection of wines and tasty snacks! Our server Avery was incredible, very kind and knowledgeable. Will be back!

Yelp
Charming and cozy space with sociable atmosphere and attentive staff. We came for a glass of wine but stayed for dinner. Many delicious surprises on the menu, where classics (right up the valley for my famished 14-years old) met sophistication (such as shallot jam served with insane cheeses). I could tell how much effort and attention to detail was put into our meals. The wines were most surprising, tailored by expert advice and way exceeding expectations. Looking forward to come back for coffee (Herkimer coffee beans are our favorites) or lunch.

Yelp
Awesome new place! We were there early afternoon, great cappuccino and delicious sweet treats. The space is modern and inviting. Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. Excited to try their extensive wines and evening snacks next visit. They also have refreshing mocktails and some local beers.
