Urban Bowls Review - Hayes Valley - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"One sure way to win us over: unlimited toppings. At this walk-up window in Hayes Valley, you can get everything from imitation crab and pickled ginger to wasabi peas - but whatever you do, be sure to get it with the seaweed salad. It’s well-balanced, crunchy, and one of our favorites in the city." - Julia Chen

Tartine Manufactory Opens New 40,000-Square-Foot Hub in Los Angeles - Eater SF

"San Francisco and San Jose both got new poke spots. Urban Bowls is now open in Hayes Valley at 340 Grove Street, which offers the typical build-your-own poke bowl model, plus some hot dishes like teriyaki chicken and deep-fried Spam musubi." - Janelle Bitker

Curbside pickup is really convenient since finding parking in SF is near impossible. I ordered two poke bowls on Doordash for pickup and the order was done insanely fast (<10 minutes)! When I picked up the bowls, they were a little hot...which heated up the fish and wasn't that great of an experience with warm raw fish. Not sure how the food safety would hold up if I were to travel farther since it would heat up and cool down raw fish. At least that means they used fresh rice but still they should let the rice cool down first. I'm not sure they even used sushi rice like other poke places. For $13 for two types of fish (tuna and salmon), I would expect them to give a bigger portion since they weren't the best quality either. It was only decent because the tuna didn't taste like much. The sauce would not stick to the fish because, again, the hot rice would absorb all the sauce. The bowl was mostly a decent amount of toppings and a good amount of rice filled to the brim of the bowl. Overall a decent place; very clean restaurant and nice employees following guidelines. Support your local Asian businesses!

Ordered two DIY bowls. Loved them. I just wish cauliflower rice was not extra $1.5. Other places don’t charge for this option. Giving 4 stars for this reason. Service: 5 Atmosphere:5 Cleanliness: 5 Value for money: 4 Food Taste: 5 Recommend: recommend this place if they offer cauliflower rice for no extra cost for folks who prefer that option. Overall good option.

FAVORITE POKE IN SF!! Hands down the best poke I have got in the city. The staff is so kind and remembers their customers specific details. Fresh fish and some great saucy poke!

Nice poke bowls in Hayes Valley at reasonable prices ($12).  I love that you can substitute for cauliflower rice ($1.50 extra).  I can't give 5 stars though, as I just didn't think the quality of the fish or the size of the bowl was as good as other poke bowls I've had recently, particularly in San Mateo (Pokeatery, Poke Island, HNL, etc).  The inside looked perfectly fine with a cute little nook, but for whatever reason, it felt a little cold and uncomfortable. Pros: + Reasonable prices ($12) + Healthy, tasty food (good, but not amazing) + Hip location + Fast, friendly service + Accepts credit cards / Square Cons: -- Fish didn't taste as fresh -- Limited veggies and toppings, was hungry after -- Ambience lacking

Simply Cafe finished renovations and is now Urban Bowls! Just had their Feel Soy Good poke bowl - a delicious combination of tofu, edamame, sweet corn, cherry tomatoes, tamago, and seaweed salad over rice. The toasted sesame ponzu sauce definitely makes it 😍

Got the create your own poke bowl. Salmon was very fresh and there were lots of clean veggie topping options. Portions were very generous. Servers were really friendly. Prices were very reasonable for the amount of food you get. A great spot for a casual quick bite.

Today was my first time here, and I loved it. This place is very new, but it has the same previous owner. This play has a wonderful, new design, and has very well made food. The menu also isn’t too small but isn’t too large. The prices are also very reasonable for the portion of the meal. It’s a nice, comfortable, and cozy, new spot that I will most defiantly recommend and I will visit again.
