Yelp
Usagi Tōkyō, the latest addition to the cafeteria at 1-800-Lucky, brings authentic Japanese ramen to South Florida that's comparable--and in many ways, superior--to Ichiran Ramen (a popular ramen-ya with locations throughout Japan, and in major metropolitan cities in the US, including New York and Los Angeles). That's a bold comparison, but I stand by it. I've never set foot inside an Ichiran branch without first waiting in a queue that resembled a soup line from the Great Depression. To be fair, that's party due to the plethora of customisable options Ichiran presents its customers with, and how they need to be filled out on a form, like a multiple choice exam.
Anyway. Usagi doesn't have that problem. (And I don't mean that in a bad way.) In true Japanese fashion, the menu is simplified for maximum efficiency and consists of only four items: Shoyu- and Special Shoyu, Spicy- and Veggie Tan Tan. The Shoyu- and Special Shoyu contain grilled pork, bamboo shoots, scallion and parsley, and are served in a clear vegetable broth, with the Special containing boiled egg and extra pork. The Spicy- and Veggie Tan Tan are served in a creamy sesame paste that contains spicy chili oil, with the latter containing lettuce, tomato, carrot and other veggies, in lieu of pork. With the Veggie Tan Tan being as spicy as it is, I can only imagine how spicy the "Spicy" Tan Tan is.
Better bring a gym towel.
