East London Restaurants Offer Delivery and Takeaway Through Lockdown | Eater London

"Formerly Vasantha Bhavan (the restaurant sign still bears this name), this Tamil cafe is a new addition to the food delivery apps. Now, it offers its famous South Indian breakfasts and buffets at home, open from 9am instead of 7am, and throughout the day. Dosa, idli and veg thalis are all available to enjoy, as well as a selection of snacks." - Shekha Vyas

I've visited Vasanth Vilas in East Ham a few times and have had a mix of experiences. The food itself is generally quite good — especially their South Indian dishes like dosa, idli, and their thali meals. The flavors are authentic and the portion sizes are generous for the price. It's a great place if you're craving homestyle Indian comfort food. That said, the service can be a bit inconsistent depending on the time you go. Sometimes it's quick and efficient, other times a bit slow or disorganized. The place gets busy, especially on weekends, so that might be a factor. Still, it's a reliable option in East Ham for South Indian cuisine. If they can improve consistency in customer service, it would take the overall experience to the next level.

Everything we ordered was tasty! Ghee roast dosa and Podi masala dosa was amazing. Just one suggestion for the restaurant- to keep water glasses clean. Doesn't feel like using those glasses.

Good veggie food. There is loads of choice at great prices. I had the Baigan Bhata(aubergine) with Coconut rice. Coconut rice didn't taste of coconut but was good with onions, chillis, curry leaves and dhal. There passion fruit juice was good. Everyone else got idlis with chutney and samba and vada. They do try to pressure you to do a Google review which is annoying hence the 4/5 stars.

A truly south Indian haven. Authentic South Indian look, feel and most importantly taste priced reasonably for the avg Londoner! Best if you know what your palate likes before you order.

Great lil’ gem on the High Street. Very popular with the south Indian locals. Service is fast and quick. We ordered the tiffin, masala dosa and the chole battura. We also tried the paneer 65 and Gobi Manchurian which were All tasty and a reminder of home. If you’re kids enjoy a big puri- order the bhatura its huge!

had a truly delightful experience. The food was not only delicious but also beautifully presented, with every dish bursting with flavor and made from fresh, high-quality ingredients. The menu offered a great variety of options to suit every palate. What truly set the experience apart, though, was the outstanding service. The staff was attentive friendly and genuinely eager to make sure we had a great time. From the moment we walked in until we left, we felt warmly welcomed and well taken care of. Highly recommended

Yelp
I was impressed with the level of service provided by Ms. Sahithi. In my opinion, her approach is very welcoming, friendly, and gentle. The taste and quality of the food are also excellent. The spicy dosa was especially delicious, and the rice dishes and noodles were also tasty. The masala chai was awesome too. I would definitely recommend others to visit this restaurant when passing through to experience a taste of homemade food. Dr Chakraborty

Yelp
Great Indian Restaurant in Eastham. I have tried many Indian restaurants. But Vasanta Bhavan is the only restaurant which combines both the South and North Indian dishes at its authentic taste. Its like my other Home. Try it.

Yelp
This restaurant opened recently in High Street North in East Ham, East London, High Street North is home to many Southern Indian restaurants, both non-veg and veg around the area. But what makes this one different to the rest? Well there are branches across India and one in Dubai as well so it's an established venture like the Chennai Dosa chain. This restaurant looks glam from the outside with the tinted windows and the catchy shop sign it seems a place which will be decent to eat it. Enter the doors, wait to be seen by one of the many waiters, and you are taken to your seat. A busy restaurant indeed, why? Cheap and cheerful. Like the Chennai Dosa franchises this place offers a vast range of food at very similar prices. Once seated you browse through the extended range of food on offer, from various options of Idli, which are like soft cakes made with rice and lentils, served with a sambar and chutneys, to the vast range of newer variations like fried, or even what I found extremely tasty, Chilli fried Idli, never seen before in other Indian restaurants myself, but this takes the twist of the ever so popular Chilli Paneer, and instead of Paneer (Indian cheese) Idli is used, and the outcome is great. Other foods include, Dosa's, various ranges as well from Masala the most common, to vegetable dosa's, and the Paper dosa, an extremely long Indian pancake served with 5 different dippings, if you are hungry this is the option to go with, and for a bargain price if I remember correctly for £3.50! Not only that, they have a vast range of Indian curries, from Chick Peas, to spinach to whatever you fancy. I tried new varieties of Indian food at this place which I've not seen anywhere else, such as Chilli Batura, batura is like fried bread commonly popular in the Chole Batura dish, fried bread with chick peas which is a tasty treat most people enjoy, in this twist, batura pieces are coated in a chilli coating, as used in Chilli paneer, mixed in a chilli type curry which is not to running with chick peas and the result is tasty and once again it's a cheap price. There are hardly any dishes that cost over £5, a few at most but the vast majority around 90% are below £5. You get a lot for your money; you could eat a meal for four people for less than £20, as with one dish there is a lot of content. The manchurians are a must try, very tasty. Too many foods to try and I shall surely be visiting this place again with my friends and family. Overall, the service is great, staff is friendly, and food is fantastic and cheap. If you're on a tight budget and want some nice food this is the place. They also do takeaways which is a plus. Chennai Dosa faces some good competition with this place and I would recommend this place to all. A great place for vegetarians and those who like Indian food or all willing to try something new.
