"Owned and run by a friendly couple – Olle, who cooks, and Sophie, who looks after the service – this unpretentious city centre bistro has certainly stood the test of time, with 2025 marking its 20th year. This is thanks, in part, to the flavour-packed dishes, where good quality regional ingredients are brought together in harmonious, visually appealing combinations. The four-course set menu changes with the seasons, featuring the likes of cod with blue mussels, beach rose and pink peppercorn, followed by grapefruit with ginger and black lime – wine and juice flights are available to accompany." - Michelin Inspector

The 22 Best Restaurants in Malmö, Sweden | Eater

"Right around the corner from other members of this list, like Bastard, MJS, and Julie, the understated Västergatan puts out subtle, seasonal dishes that are consistently ranked among some of the best in the city. Head chef Olle Ahnberg masterly dispenses a mix of technical knowledge and casual familiarity, with an affinity for seafood and a black belt in sauces. A piece of local cod will be cooked to perfection, served alongside yellowfoot mushrooms and tangy silver onion, and topped with a featherlight butter sauce. The chill dining room is a place to share food with loved ones and revel in the well-curated wine list, which sits neatly between natural and low-intervention, most being from France and Italy. The keen eye will discover many treasures here, as they keep back-vintages of bottles that they season the list with as they go. A bottle of Yann Durieux’s stunning chardonnay-based Love and Pif ‘13 cuvée? A bargain at $50. [$$$]" - Alisa Larsen

This place is spectacular. Incredibly relaxed, friendly atmosphere, not too dim unlike many other restaurants in Scandinavia, the kind and easygoing service. And then the food, few and simple ingredients mixed in an incredible way. Each dish is a constant complement of textures and flavors, yet at the end everything blends so magically together. We enjoyed the menu and our favorite dishes were the cod and the dessert. Absolutely recommended choice, we also enjoyed a pairing of homemade juices. Fantastic!

My husband and I went to have dinner to celebrate Valentine’s Day. We had never been before. The restaurant is a bit hidden and if you were to pass by it on the street you might not know that it’s there. It’s nice that it is a bit hidden. We were greeted by the door and were showed to our table. We had a table for 2 next to the window. We put our coats in a small wardrobe next to the bathroom and bar. The restaurant had about 6-7 tables with two sections to sit at the bar. The decoration was minimalist and classic. They have a stuffed fox on the window which was interesting to see. They also have a bird cage with some fake birds in the bathroom. Our table was very cozy and not near many people so that we also nice. The menu was a 4 course meal with the option to have a wine package or juice package in case you don’t drink. I am a pescatarian so they had to change two things on the menu which was nice to have. The food was really nice, we enjoyed it. We weren’t very impressed by the main course which was the fish. It had an interesting taste to it with the sauce. However, the other items on the menu were nice. The service was lovely. We had two different servers. They would give us an explanation each time we got our new dish. I was curious about the menu and asked about it. She was very nice and responded to my questions. She said that they try to change one dish on the menu every month and they change it slowly. She also said that depending on what is in season they would also change the menu. This way if you come again in the future you could try something different. They also had the option to add some snacks like olives or cheese. Although we had a nice experience, we didn’t get that feeling that makes us want to keep coming back. I would recommend it if you haven’t try it just so you can experience it for yourself. I think the only thing I would like to have them improve is the tables for two. The tables for two have a split in the middle of the table and when they would put out plate there it would be unbalanced so we would have to move our plate a little to the side so it won’t wobble.

This is a gem! The food is magical, creative pairings and soooo fresh! Shared the menu with my partner and we were so full and happy. Wine list is also super good! Loved sitting at the bar and looking at the team’s work. So smooth and so much love for what they’re doing. The service is amazing, too, the food presentation and everything!

Another hidden gem!!! Been to a few restaurants the past few days so this is another one I’ve added to my list of favourites. Service is warm and friendly, yes they do English too. Tack! Def opt for their 4 menu course and get the drinks package (alcoholic/non-alcoholic). They know what they’re doing. Jättebra!!!

One of those restaurants where they take in-season veggies and try to turn them into tasty and in-expensive dishes - all in all, a positive and eco friendly approach. But don’t expect to be positively surprised as everything is very basic. And make sure that when you order your table explicitly ask NOT to be placed by the counter/bar - you will be eating very uncomfortably as the bar is very high and the chairs not high enough! Additionally you will enjoy regular visits from other guests going to the toilet located less than one meter behind you!! Additionally the chef succeeded turning their onglet into a piece of meat that was un-chewable - my wife returned the dish and I tried to get through the “rubber” but eventually I had to give up as well.

Delightful meal (standard menu with wine pairing) with delightful staff. Food was made to a high quality with local, seasonal ingredients. Staff were friendly and patient with my questions on the wine.

Interesting flavors being put at work. The atmosphere is cozy and not pretentious. Thank you for the adjustments to the menu for each one’s diet.
