Inventive tacos, hot dogs & burgers, late-night eats, global flavors

"There are a few taco options at the ballpark, but these have our hearts. The flour tortillas taste fresh and hold up well under the weight of thick chicken pieces smothered in a spicy tikka sauce that we wish we could dump on everything. A little bit of cilantro-infused rice helps make this tiny taco feel extra filling." - juli horsford, nina reeder, jacinta howard

"Velvet Taco in Buckhead is open until midnight Sunday through Wednesday, 1 a.m. on Thursdays, and 4 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, making it a prime spot for late-night cravings after the club. With fresh, tasty, globally-inspired tacos, this fast-casual restaurant caters to those looking for high-quality, late-night eats. There are two other Velvet Taco locations in Atlanta (Interlock and Perimeter) and at least 20 varieties of taco flavors to choose from, including quesa-birria, Nashville hot tofu, chicken and waffle, and Mexi-Cali shrimp." - Eater Staff

"Opened Monday, Sept. 9 after permitting delays postponed a previously projected late-August debut, this all-day (and all-night) restaurant in the Whole Foods–anchored Buckhead Market Place serves a rotating lineup of inventive tacos — examples include spicy tikka masala, Nashville hot cauliflower, and Korean pork — alongside weekly taco specials. The menu also features red velvet cake for dessert and a notable “backdoor” takeout chicken meal: a $20 rotisserie whole yardbird with two sides of street corn, six corn tortillas, pico de gallo, and hot sauce (discounted to $10 on Mondays). Local and Mexican beers are available on tap and in cans, plus margaritas and fruit-infused iced teas; guests order at the counter and sit at communal tables indoors or on the patio. Hours run late into the night most days, with specific times: Monday 11 a.m.–12 a.m.; Tuesday–Wednesday 11 a.m.–2 a.m.; Thursday–Friday 11 a.m.–3 a.m.; Saturday 10 a.m.–3 a.m.; Sunday 10 a.m.–12 a.m. A second location is planned next year at the Interlock complex on Howell Mill Road." - Beth McKibben
