Vero Pizza Napoletana

By far the best 900F wood fired Napoli style pizza using Italian 00 flour resulting in a crunchy charred chewy soft pliable crust along with flavors bursting from multiple points from the smoked mozzarella, pancetta, basil, tomatoes, and garlic! The wood fired oven imparts that delicious hint of smoky flavor on the whole pie (ordered the Oro Affumicato)! Although i have not dined here since 2020, i do miss the wood fired cauliflower offered at the time. As a business traveler i will miss this place greatly! Highly recommended!

OMG, best Pizza place in the Cleveland Area, Friday Dinner with friends, we ordered 2 appetizers, 3 Pizzas to share and Tiramisu & Gelato for dessert, everything was AMAZING, total $230 split in 2 $115 per couple, we had beers, Aperol Sprit and an express. the pizzas are cooked in a wooden oven, the dough is the real thing (very close to Italy), congratulations.

This was a great Italian place that serves only Napoletana-style pizzas as mains. We tried the Buffalo Mozarella in the pizza and it was great and we like anchovies so this was the white type that was in either lemon or vinegar and was not as salty as the darker variety. The price range I quoted here may be lower than actual as we usually have only water and no alcohol and we shared a pizza and I had the appetizer as my main. It was good for two though and not too heavy. If we ordered two pizzas it would have been too much too for us. All the staff were great and nice. David and Val were nice and made our visit great. This was a great choice for our one night in Cleveland. We were just passing through for a long drive.

Wow! One of a kind Cleveland pizza experience. The crust is soft, chewy and delicious. The sauce and flavors remind me of Italy on a summer day. The cantaloupe with prosciutto was sprinkled with salt and basil and was delightful. Caesar salad was sprinkled with bread crumbs giving it a nice crunch with a great homemade dressing. I will be making Vero a staple in my pizza rotation.

We had a great time! Five of us all had pizza - of course! I had the Bianca, and it was amazing. Our server, Jeremiah, was patient and excellent. I left my brand new jacket behind by accident, and didn't miss it until the next week when it rained again. I was sure it was long gone, but when I called they had it saved for me! I was so pleased and surprised to get it back. ❤️ When I arrived to pick it up, they said, "Oh! We were hoping you'd remember where you left it and come back for it!!" Above and beyond.

Closed my eyes and sent me back to Naples. High quality San Marzano, Buffalo Mozzarella, extra virgin olive oil, chewy light crust. Neapolitan pizza meant to be eaten fork & knife (no slices) like the people of Naples 🇮🇹 There are plenty of other nearby options for crispy crust, ny/Ohio style, etc … if that’s what you prefer. This is not that! Thank you, Vero for providing an authentic Naples, Italy pizza back home 👏 🔥 Ps haven’t even mentioned the best Ceasar Salad and melon/prosuttio app…. 🥗🍈

This was a tasty experience. The Caesar salad was delicious, with its silky pile of Parmesan cheese and finely chopped lettuce. The pizza was excellent; perfectly baked, the crust is like biting a pillow with a crunchy outside. The service was fast and friendly. I felt welcomed and looked after. Really glad I got to try this.

Neapolitan pizza is my favorite food. This was a religious experience. The bartender had to check on me to make sure I was ok. The crust. I cannot over emphasize how amazing this crust is. It was as good if not better than pizza in Naples. Toppings were highest quality and not overwhelming. Absolutely a perfect Neapolitan experience.

I've driven past Vero probably 20+ times, but never set foot inside the establishment due to the intimidating lines I would always see forming outside. It's been on my try list for the longest time since it's the favorite restaurant of some of my friend in Cleveland. In my last trip to the city, I finally decided to brave the line to try to get a seat. We were quoted a 40 minute wait time a bit before 6, but we were in luck as a table cleared up within 5 minutes. Margherita ($24) - The crust (or rather the cornicione) is seriously amazing. It has a bit of a char, is bubbly with a very nice rise, superb bouncy chew, and yet also a tenderness that collapses when you take a bite. There are blackened spots on the cornicione, but there is no bitterness. It's sprinkled with sea salt, giving an extra salty bite in some areas - be a bit careful, some of the salt is in larger crystals and if bitten the wrong way, they can hurt your teeth. The inner crust area soaks up the tomato sauce and becomes floppy, but is delicious. The tomato sauce is very fresh, acidic, and sweet. There's fresh basil to give an herbal note and the mozzarella adds a great dairy milkiness. The toppings are perfectly proportioned and each ingredient is fresh and high quality, allowing the pure flavors really shine and stand out. If you don't like eating crust, you should probably avoid eating at Vero - it will save you both time and money. I only mention this because we saw another party throwing out the cornicione. (5/5) Sausage and Rapini ($26) - Again, a fantastic crust. The sausage is a bit spicy but adds much needed meaty flavors. The rapini adds some bitterness and sweetness and is cooked perfectly. There's a good amount of cheese as well. Since there isn't really any sauce here, we drizzled some olive oil on top to add moisture. (5/5) The pizzas are not cut for you, instead they provide a pair of pizza shears so you can cut the pizza to your liking. You can get pepper flakes, oil, or hot honey brought over to add to the pizza. We went with the oil. The olive oil is quite fresh and has a bit of a peppery kick as well as vegetal notes. They also serve a spicier olive oil that tastes kind of like hot buffalo sauce. One thing that could be improved is the oil dispenser bottle. The design they have allows a lot of drippage along the outer sides, which makes pools of olive oil on the table. Also it seems that the waiters will sometimes forget to offer condiments - the patrons at the table next to us asked if they could borrow our bottles as they were not given the option. We went to Citizen Pie the next day to do a comparison. Vero has by far the best cornicione and the toppings and construction are better. The taste of the Vero pizza is fresh and pure, while the taste of Citizen Pie is much more muddled in comparison. That's not to say that Citizen Pie is bad. In fact, it's pretty good. Vero is just better in most aspects. The pizzas at Vero are absolutely delicious, but it's not all roses here. According to reviews the restaurant was renovated and expanded over the last couple of months. I was researching menus and comparisons between Vero and other Neapolitan pizza shops around Cleveland and it seems like the prices at Vero immediately before the renovation were already on the higher end ($20 for margherita vs $13-$18 at other places). They rose 20% immediately after the renovation ($24), making them cost way more than the competition. The pizzas take forever to come out. I feel like Vero expanded the dining room but didn't increase throughput. There are two people in the back prepping the pizzas while only one person (I assume the owner) operates the oven. Our pizza took over 45 minutes to arrive and this wasn't a fluke; The patrons at the table beside ours complained loudly as they had finished their appetizers and wine and were still without pizza almost half an hour afterwards. The restaurant also has some odd music choices. They play really loud, booming music - I found it hard to hear anything over the deafening bass. It doesn't really fit with the interior or the food. Finally, the pizzaiola gives off some seriously pretentious "I'm god's gift to mankind" vibes (seriously, read his bio on the Vero website). I hesitate to recommend going to a restaurant owned by a chef with this type of personality, but it's undeniable that the food he makes is excellent. He has the credentials and quality to back up his talk. Note: I did not personally talk to him, this is purely based on my impressions from his website. Bathrooms - Two individual gender neutral rooms near the kitchen. All in all, it took us slightly under 2 hours between setting foot in the restaurant and leaving. This is not a place where you can just go in, get a quick bite, and leave. You have to be patient and expect everything to take a long time. With that being said, and with those caveats, Vero has some of the highest quality and best tasting pizza you can eat.

This place is so so cute! It's so much more modern and bigger than I expected as well. We walked in and were immediately greeted and seated. We came here with a group of 4! My partner and I ordered the caesar salad and the salumi pizza. Both were so so good! The pizza had a nice kick from the hot honey, and the Caesar salad had the perfect amount of dressing and so much cheese! The service was very quick and friendly, and overall a great place to grab a delicious pizza with some friends! Can't wait to try the margherita and milk + honey pizzas next!

This is my favorite pizza place on the east side. The new expanded space is beautiful and the menu is simple, but perfect. The caesar salad is excellent, the salumi pizza is my favorite, and you can't leave without getting a scoop of gelato. Recommend getting there early because I have seen them run out of dough on a weekend night. I'm just waiting for them to restart accepting carryout orders!

Vero may be one of the best pizza places in Cleveland and the crust for sure is the best. The crust is like no other crust around town. It's so flaky and soft you almost mistake it for a country biscuit. Our server was great and took great care of us. We got there at 5:30 on Friday night. By 6pm there was a line out the door waiting for a table. Be sure to get there early if you want a seat without waiting. The salumi pizza and the milk & honey pizza were absolutely fabulous and we will be back here again to try others.

Absolutely the best, authentic Neapolitan pizza I've ever seen!! Get there early- we got to the restaurant 15 minutes before open and 2 parties were ahead of us.

This pizza is fantastic. It is no wonder the place gets packed so quickly! We got there 5 minutes before opening on a Saturday, and there were several groups of people who were right there with us! It is a small place, so expect a sizable wait if you don't get here right when it opens. The inside is clean and minimalist, and the staff is all very nice and friendly. Between the 3 of us, we ordered 4 pizzas. We got the Margherita, the milk & honey, Salumi, and the Filetti with calabrian chilis and arugula. The pizzas on the menu are very simple, but I think because the quality of the ingredients is so good, the simplicity lets you appreciate those clean and fresh flavors so much more. We loved all of our pizzas, so it is hard to pick a favorite. The milk and honey is definitely the most unique of what we tried though! The crust is fantastic here- thin throughout until you get to the pillowy outer edge with just the right amount of char and chew. The bottom of the pizza is not greasy at all. They are uber thin, so make sure not to let them sit too long otherwise they do get soggy. We liked our pizza here more than il rione, and it's a close call between here and Cents. Only thing that we might have wanted better was for the servers to be a little more attentive, we were kind of in a corner, and nobody would come by for stretches at a time, and a couple of times we had to ask to have the water refilled. Not a huge deal given they are very busy trying to accomadate so many hungry patrons, but if I had to give a criticism, that would be it. Also, expect a wait on your food once you order. It is all coming out fresh, so that is to be expected. Our waiter recommended that we order everything all at once rather than one pizza at a time (we were glad we asked!) just because they do get backed up once the restaurant fills up. Overall, the pizza here is awesome, definitely don't sleep on this one!

Solid pizza spot, although not super filling! This is more a comment on the style of the pizza, but the slices tend to be very light and not really filling if that's what you're looking for. Otherwise, taste and flavor wise the pizzas themselves are really good and they have some pretty creative toppings. I highly recommend the milk and honey pizza, but the margherita was also great. Service was friendly and accommodating. Definitely recommend making reservations beforehand because the place can get really busy, especially on weekends. The pizza also comes out pretty fast, so we didn't have to wait too long once we ordered.

Vero's is my favorite pizza shop in Cleveland! The shop itself is so cute and everyone is very nice. The complimentary hot honey and pepper doesn't hurt either The must try is the Milk and Honey. I'd never thought I would like eggs on a pizza, but this definitely changed my mind. I also never finish the dough on a slice but I'll eat every last bit I think Vero is great for a group or a cute date night spot. Would definitely recommend!

super cute place to grab dinner with friends! we were sat very quickly (went at around 7:45pm on a tuesday). i ordered the salumi - definitely recommend getting a pizza with (or adding) hot honey. the food came out within 15 min and the waiters were polite!

Yum!! Such a great pizza place! We had the Caesar salad, the margarita pizza, and the milk and honey pizza. Everything was great, though the milk and honey pizza was a little spicy for my taste. The decor was simple and clean, and the service was friendly. I'd recommend getting there early, as I think it gets crowded and the location is pretty small. Also, the pizzas do take a little while to come out, but it's so worth the wait.

The pizza is very good -- worth a visit. Crust is always flavorful and bubbled with a tiny bit of char. High-quality and fresh-tasting ingredients. It's definitely one of the better margherita pizzas I've had in the US. Salads are a little small and simple for the higher price point. It's a cozy place. Street parking is usually OK - just might have to search around at peak hours. Sometimes they run out of dough and stop doing pizzas for the evening, which can come as a surprise when it happens early - that might improve with the expansion?

Came here for the first time with some friends after some high recommendations from others. The interior of the place is very cute with the sparse seating on the upper and lower floors, and a peek into the back kitchen where the wood fire oven is roaring. The menu is also pretty simple and straightforward, with a few options of apps, pizza, and drinks (I had creeped on Vero's website before going to look at their menu, and would highly recommend reading the "Pizza and the Pizzamaker" section to get an appreciation of the creator's concept and motivation behind Vero). We ended up ordering the Salumi and Margherita to split amongst us. While the toppings and flavors blended together nicely, overall, I was a bit underwhelmed by them. Maybe that's just a testament to how Napoli style pizza isn't for me(?), but in particular i felt that the dough was a bit too chewy for my liking, and that it just tasted like an "average" pizza with a higher price tag. I was really looking forward to the Salumi pizza due to the hot honey component (which is one of my favorite toppings), and I was also disappointed that I could barely tell there was hot honey on it. Despite this, the rave reviews from others on Yelp (as well as in real life) may just show that Vero hits it out of the park for a lot of other people in regards to pizza -- maybe just not everyone

I was so excited to try this restaurant. I eat out twice a day so for me to be posting about a restaurant really means it was a terrible time. Waitress was rude and made absolutely 0 effort. Also, the pizza took an hour to come. When I asked how long the pizza was going to take after 45 minutes of waiting, I was told when you order pizza it takes extra time. That's the only thing you serve!

My friend introduced me to Vero last year and I have been obsessed ever since. There is something really special about Vero - it is a tiny space bursting with character. It's hard to describe, but the vibes are simply immaculate, and walking in, you would never guess that you are still in Cleveland Heights. The menu is small and simple - I've had the Margherita, Salumi, and Milk 'n Honey pizzas and I have enjoyed all 3 (Milk 'n Honey + chili oil is life changing!) Neapolitan style pizza is one of my favorites and I rarely come across one that I really don't like, but Vero's is special because the dough produces a crust that is soft, puffy, and has the right amount of bite. I've also had their gelato before and it is a very generous serving (I rarely actually have enough room to order dessert!) The only negative thing I have to say about Vero is that the bottom of the crust tends to get soft/soggy, so you can't really pick up the pizza and eat it like a slice, it's always more of a fork and knife situation. The first time I tried the pizza, this caught me off guard, but it ended up not detracting from the experience at all. Sure, I wish the crust didn't get wet in the center, but the rest of the pizza and the dining experience in general is so good that I'll happily deal with it.

Vero makes amazing dough for their pizzas, it is chewy and fluffy and feels like a blanket in your mouth. Fairly simple menu with a few appetizers, handful of pizza options (several options are vegetarian but you can add meat if you like), and some wines. There's usually a wait but it can go by fast (they quoted us 1 hour but then texted us within 15 minutes). Pizza was made fresh and took about 15-20 minutes to come out. The pizza is cut into quarters, and was a decent portion size for 2 people, or as a personal pizza (depends on how hungry you are :D). Decent pricing as well. All in all, highly recommend this place, I would definitely come back.

I've heard many great reviews for this restaurant, especially since there's usually a long wait for a seat. The first time I tried to eat at Vero, I was a little bit disappointed because there was not only a long wait time, but the hostess seemed to be overwhelmed and was extremely rude. After that, my friend and I decided to leave and go to a different restaurant. I really questioned the restaurant but decided to give the restaurant another go, and the second time I attempted to go, there was surprisingly no wait. However, we did go at a later time in the evening on a weekday. We ordered the Margherita Pizza with pepperoni. I will say the pizza was phenomenal and the hot honey they gave to top the pizza was delicious. Great flavoring and the crust was delicious. The staff this time was much more friendly. However, something that was quite interesting was that when we tried to order 2 pizzas the waiter told us "sorry we only have one more pizza dough left..." I was a little confused by how a pizzeria could run out of pizza dough? Also, somehow they did not have enough hot honey for every table... mid-meal the waiter came over and took our hot honey and gave it to a different table. Overall, I would say the food was very good and the ambience is very aesthetic, but the service is a little bit iffy.

Pizza is delicious. If you like authentic thin dough pizza, then this place is for you. They really stress eating pizza there and not take out because eating this hot out of the oven, is truly the best way to enjoy it.

Napoli style pizza is our absolute favorite. I had Vero on my bookmarked list while we were in town. Vero is located in Cleveland Heights and parking is available on the street (just don't park on the permit-only areas!) or there's a small garage around the corner with metered spots. Vero does not take reservations and they don't always offer take out so we went there, put our name and number in and you'll get texted when your table is ready. The service is so wonderful and everyone was very nice. We ordered some olives to start. They were great! (Hard to mess up marinated olives). But the real reason we came was for one of the pizzas: the Milk'n'Honey which had Buffalo mozzarella, egg and hot honey. Totally lived up to my expectations! We also got a margherita Roth Buffalo mozzarella - very good. We left full and happy! Make sure you're prepared to wait for a table but it'll be well worth the wait.

Really solid pizza spot in cleveland heights! I loved all of the creative toppings. My fav was the milk and honey pizza. Hot honey on pizza is my fav and at vero they give you a whole bottle to use as much as you want! The crust was also delicious. It was super soft and a bit doughier than others, but still feels light. My only complaint is the price - pies are a bit pricey for the size but they are very good. They don't take reservations ans the wait esp on weekends can get long so I would recommend going early or on a weekday night to avoid a long wait. The inside is super cute and there is quite a bit of seating.

The food is delicious. The servers work hard and are very congenial. However, because the restaurant is understaffed, the wait is very long for food. We waited one hour for our pizza. We began a long wait for dessert and had to leave before it got to our table. They apologized for the wait.

Pizza is soggy. I asked for mine well done and it still was undercooked. It is nothing like pizza in Napoli. Everything is overpriced for the quality and quantity of food. We got the anchovy appetizer and it was 4 half anchovies for $9. My husband is from Italy and he was not impressed with any of the things we ordered. We had the Margarita pizza, Milk and Honey pizza as well as prosciutto and melon appetizer. Gelato was good but also overpriced at $10. There are many authentic Napoletana pizza places in Cleveland but this is not one of them. Etalian in Chagrin Falls or Biga in Kirtland are much better and know how to make an authentic Napoletana pizza. It is also extremely loud here as there is nothing to absorb any sound. We will not return.

I'll start off by saying that I didn't particularly care for my pizza. My wife and my mom loved it though. I'll definitely go again and probably try something else. The service was excellent. The restaurant wasn't too loud either.

I wish the hours of service were not just limited to dinner because I would go so often. It's also closed on Sundays and Mondays, but if you go for dinner, you will need to expected about 1 hour of wait time because I don't think it's possible to make a reservation. If you live in the area, it's not a problem but if you don't then logistics might be annoying. The atmosphere is pretty casual, with loud music and a lot of talking. The pizzas are so good if you like Neopolitan (Naples-style) pizza. It's quite different from NY style pizza, so you can't compare the two. I love how chewy and soft the sourdough crust is --not dry and mouth cutting at all. Although the price is a little high, it's worth it and the serving size is more than I initially thought. I've never had anything like the Milk and Honey pizza so it was unique and delicious for me. It kind of reminds me of breakfast for some reason --might be the eggs and garlic. I also appreciate how there are several optional condiments like crushed red pepper flakes, chili oil, olive oil, and chili honey. I think the novelty of Naples-style pizza and my newfound bias for this style of pizzas are what mainly influenced me to give such a high rating. However, you can't go wrong with this place.

They do indeed have true Naples style pizza at Vero. They also have the finest ingredients and one of the more interesting selections of specialty pies I've seen. Simply outstanding.

This is some of the best pizza I have ever had. The dough quality is something that most seasoned chefs will never achieve. The toppings are kept simple but interesting. The salads/anchovies/assorted other menu items are all fun and add to a nice dining experience. The wine list from what I remember is comprehensive and allows you to find whatever you enjoy. The staff treats you better if you're a regular. I am not, but the service is always perfunctory for me so I have absolutely no complaints. The overall scene is cute as you can see the large main oven from the dining area. Great choice for a nice night out with friends or date night. This one is worth driving out of your way for in order to enjoy some of my personal favs: sausage/rapini, caesar, and baquerones. The hot honey is a fine addition to any of the pizzas as well (love a good food trend).

If I was the owner of this establishment, I would want to know how my employees are running it. They open at 5pm, I showed up at 5:05 and the door was locked. An employee was walking down the stairs, saw me at the door and kept walking without acknowledging me. I figured they were running late getting set up, not a big deal. I sat on the bench outside to wait. At 5:10, a young lady comes outside to set up the tables, I ask her if I can wait inside because it's August and I'm directly under the sun. She said she had to ask someone that could make that call, she comes back outside one minute later with another gentleman to set up the next table. They didn't have even look at me . Wild! I left. It was 5:17 by that time.

Our favorite pizza place. The dough is so soft and delicious. Mostly vegetarian options and not many meat, but everything is delicious.

I don't know how this isn't more highly rated. A friend of mine recommended this place and I wasn't thinking it would be anything special, but I found the burrata app and the pizza to far exceed my expectations. Some of the best pizza I've ever had, and I usually prefer a Sicilian or Detroit style pizza, not Neapolitan.

This is a small hole-in-the-wall pizza place that has been a block from my apartment this entire time. I've passed it countless times but never found it enticing enough to go into until my roommate recommended it as some of the best pizza she's had in Cleveland. With that strong recommendation, I had to try it for myself and I have to say I do agree. There is minimal signage outside, but once you're inside, there is a cute and cozy feel to the entire restaurant. There is upstairs and downstairs seating with a bar and a giant pizza oven visible in the back. The menu itself is quite simple, they've got 6-7 different pizza options with some limited customizable options. My roommate got the classic margarita pizza with Buffalo mozzarella while I got the milk and honey pizza. I was a big skeptical about honey on a pizza, but it truly paired so well with the Buffalo mozzarella. The flavors were complex and balanced, achieved with only a few ingredients. The dough itself was pillowy and soft with a distinctly handmade quality to it, unrivaled by other traditional pizza places. They also have a number of items that can be requested to top the pizza including honey, olive oil, and house-made chili oil. I absolutely loved the infused chili oil and really paired so well with the slight sweetness in my pizza. We actually requested to take some of the oil home. For dessert, we tried the affogato, which is a gelato that comes with a cup of espresso, meant to pour over the gelato. They were out of most of the flavors when we got there, but we ended up getting a passion fruit gelato. We were hesitant about its pairing with espresso, but the bitterness from the coffee really balanced the sweetness of the fruit. Some of the other flavors they had (but were out of) were pistachio, vanilla, chocolate, and gingerbread spice (among others). I will say, this place is a bit pricey for pizza, averaging around 20 dollars for a personal pie. However, it is most definitely worth it. It is a place I will be bringing any visitors to in the future.

Nice ambience. Margarita DOP pizza had great flavor although crust was doughy , flimsy, and a bit soggy and I think could've been better with a little more time cooking. Slower than expected for the pizza to be brought out. I would still return.

Worst run business ever. Had us wait for an hour and a half and then finally said yeah sorry ran out of dough. How dare you. I hope you close for your poor service and treatment of customers. Have some decency and at least be honest with managing expectations.

Vero pizza is hands down the best pizza I've had so far in Cleveland. The pizza here is Neapolitan style, which is a special type of pizza baked in a wood-fire oven. The bread is super chewy, but I think what won my heart over at Vero was the toppings. I was able to try two pizzas- the Milk & Honey and the Salumi. Salumi is like your classic pepperoni pizza, but they add a special twist by drizzling hot honey on top. I LOVE sweet and salty combinations and the pepperoni and honey are a match made in foodie heaven. Milk and Honey is a little more unique, forgoing the tomato sauce, its toppings are egg, mozzarella and the hot honey- super creamy b/c of the egg and cheese, and the honey balances this out. Vero also gave us a bottle of additional hot honey if you wanted to add extra- I probably added another cup of honey on my pizza its so good. I believe it's a homemade honey made with added spices- a must-try- i could eat a gallon of it alone. Do not make the mistake of forgetting about the gelato- save that tummy space!! I shared two scoops of pistacio and stracciatella with a friend because the portions were huge. They rotate flavors, so it was nice to see what they had that day. This gelato tasted similar to the ones I was able to try in Italy- super authentic, creamy and flavorful. I would just keep in mind that Vero is on the upper price range for pizza. It is totally worth it taste-wise, but you are gonna spend about $13-17 for a personal-sized pizza.

In Cleveland working at Case Western for the week and some of the locals recommended this place so I had to give it a try. Here's what I though... Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right on busy Cedar Road is this gem. There is only street parking out front and then lots in the back of the building that you also have to pay for. This place blends in very well so it's easy to walk by (I did twice). Inside is very modern and simple. There's painted exposed brick in the kitchen area, white tiled floors, exposed ventilation and multiple floors to dine on. We sat on the first floor near the front of the restaurant right across from the gelato section! Service: I can't remember the name of the young lady that helped us, but she was awesome. We got everything that we needed and asked for without issue. Food: I ordered the Funkhouser, which is a white pizza topped with fontina, caciocavallo, ibores, mozzarella and chili flakes. It was fantastic. Some people say you can't call it a pizza if it doesn't have red sauce. I ignore those people. Lol. Value: The food here is gourmet and special so you pay for it. My pizza was about 12" across and super filling. It was $16.00, but so worth it. Their cheapest pizza starts at $13.00 and they go up to $18.00 or even higher if you want to keep adding toppings. In conclusion, this place is pretty cool and pretty chill. Their offerings are slim, but they're excellent at what they do offer and that's what's important. Check this place out if you're in the area.

Are you looking for a spot that would impress a date while not being too fussy? Then Vero is your spot. Located on a cute strip in Cedar Fairmount, it's a great place for a dinner for two (or more). Share some wine or a beer, get a starter, and share one of their fun upscale pizzas. We started with the beet salad. Creamy oozy buratta with sweet soft beets and pomegranate seeds and adorned with delicate herbs. yum. It was the right size to share since the cheese is rich and luscious. Also it was gorgeous, see attached pic. We shared two pizzas; the repeat was cheddar cheese and broccoli based. This one had a nice cheesy flavor (obvi distinct from your normal pizza cheese since it's cheddar) which was very fun. The mad max was salami and hot honey based. This hot honey has major flavor with the heat and sweetness cutting through the fats from the cheese and meats. The dough here has a perfect chew to it. It is delicate and compliments the toppings. It's not crispy, more pillowy. Service was super kind despite it being a very busy friday night! We snagged two seats at the small bar to avoid the 30 min wait for a table.

Server was definitely rude and not accommodating for guests as they arrived. Did not make the experience worth it. The pizza was also decently bland. It was nothing out of the ordinary. Maybe if the server were nicer it would be different.

This pizza was delicious. It's Neapolitan style (as indicated by the name), which I always love, but their dough was especially interesting, with a little extra sourness that I enjoyed. I ordered the Mad Max, and the sweetness from the honey balanced the sourness of the dough quite nicely. One note - if the menu description does not specify tomatoes/sauce on a pizza, it does not have it! A few people in my party were tripped up by this, but even so everyone was very happy about their food. I also HIGHLY recommend the gelato - so smooth and flavorful, and very large portions so you could split it with a friend! I was part of a large party of 10, and it is not a very large space, but we were able to make a reservation by calling a couple days in advance and it worked out fine. Main complaint is that it is a bit expensive, so maybe save it for a special occasion. I can't wait to make an excuse to go back!

Great wood fired pizza! The indoor decor and ambience is very comfy and is a perfect spot to dine on any day of the week. Service is great as well!

Despite living near no shortage of pizza joints in Little Italy, I'd still say Vero has my favorite pies in all of the Land. If you come here, at least one of the three honey pizzas is a must try! Would recommend the Mad Max for meat lovers - the spicy savory combination of salami with sweet hot honey makes this one my go-to every time. My other favorite is the Milk & Honey, which comes with farm egg on top - perfectly tasty on its own though you can add salami/pancetta for an extra charge. If you're in the market for a good cheese pizza, look no further than the Funkhouser (fontina, caciocavallo, ibores, mozzarella). Lemme save you the trouble of looking up 3/4 of those ingredients like I did and tell you that it's a well-crafted blend of Spanish (goat) and Italian cheeses that is melt in your mouth delicious. Crust is light, pillowy, perfectly scorched and not too chewy - Neapolitan done right! A little on the pricier side ($16 pp on avg) and def a lighter meal but totally worth it. The restaurant is small with additional loft seating on the top floor, which has chill vibes with a view overlooking Cedar Fairmount. Only downside is long wait times on the weekends, not really avoidable since Vero doesn't take reservations. Expect a 40-50 min wait for dinner (not much of a waiting area aside from the tiny bar a few steps away from the door; they'll text when your table opens up), with another 40 min for the pizzas to come out once they take your order. To skip the wait, drop by on a weekday afternoon!

I declare this to be the best pizza in the Land! We are a city with a lot of contenders for the best pizza pie but this is hands down the best. The selection isn't large and the drink menu is limited but if you are coming here for the pizza, you won't be disappointed. Both my wife and I ordered a large pie with the expectation that we would each save half of it for leftovers - we both ate the entire thing. No regrets here!!!

I usually don't go out for pizza as a student because free pizza is in constant abundance on campus. However, I was looking for a nicer date type meal with my boyfriend and found this place on Cedar close by campus. We ordered the Mad Max and Funkhouser pizzas, I believe. The prices are a little more expensive than your average pizza, but the personal pizzas are delicious. The dough is incredible and the crust was soft and puffy. The honey on the pizzas added a great sweetness to the pizza. The Mad Max was probably my favorite of the two. The dinner was actually pretty filling and I was very satisfied by the end of the meal. There is usually a long wait, and I called beforehand but because we were crunched with time so we decided to go and see if there was a place at the bar. It was about a 15 minute wait to get two spots at the bar even on a weekday. I'd recommend coming during off hours or try seating at the bar if you'd like to skip the wait.

This is such a cute little spot to grab a meal with a friend or two! The space and the menu are fairly small, but it mostly just adds to the charm of the place. We sat at the "bar" which was great as we had a wonderful time chatting with the people who were working there who were all really interesting and nice. I got the Milk and Honey pizza which was very tasty! One thing to keep in mind is that if you're interested in ordering that pizza you should probably check out a picture of it on yelp first since it's different than any other type of similar pizza I've had. Usually pizza with an egg on it will have an easy over egg or runny egg, but this one was actually more of a scrambled egg style which surprised both me and my friend. Was definitely still very delicious but not at all what I expected. I've recently discovered I LOVE hot honey on pizza, and the mix of the hot honey, egg and cheese on this one was really good. The dough is soft and fluffy and very tasty, but difficult to eat like a regular pizza so you'll probably have to grab your fork and knife for this one. Overall, really positive experience and would definitely go back

Yum! Headed here the last day of a work trip with a coworker. I got the milk and honey pizza. The perfect balance of creamy/sweet/hot/salty. I even enjoyed the crust - normally crust is crunchy and dry, but not here! Super soft, a bit of chew, so tasty. Didn't get to try any gelato (this time), but will definitely be back!

Best pizza in North East Ohio, great bars walking distance for a drink while waiting when line is busy also. Worth the wait

My favorite pizza place in Cleveland!! I love coming here to catch up with friends over wine, delicious pizza, and just as delicious gelato. My go-to pizza is the salumi (it's got spicy salami which gives it some heat, and hot honey which adds such a unique flavor). I only wish they weren't closed on Sundays and Mondays (I've definitely forgotten before and tried coming here when they were closed!)

Soooo... I have some mixed feelings about Vero. The main summary - good pizza for sure, including some of the best dough around, but way too expensive for the tiny little pizza you get. So I'll start off by saying the service is great. I called in my order and it was actually ready earlier than they said by about 5-10 mins, so I didn't have to wait at all. They bring the pizza to you outside, so you don't even have to go in the store, and they are using good hygiene procedures. Now, the pizza itself was also good. I ordered the Margherita, and it was exactly what you'd expect from a Margherita pizza, plus some really good dough. I have no qualms with the pizza itself. It's the price. The pizza was rather small and cost $20. If you're from Cleveland Heights, you know you can go to Dewey's and get a huge pizza with tons of toppings and great flavor for less, so I was less than impressed by Vero's value for money. However, I did enjoy it, so I won't be too harsh. Go for the great flavor, but not if you're extremely hungry and looking for a sub-$20 meal!

Very happy with this pick. Ordered takeout and reviewing the menu not a lot of options, but we ended up being very happy with our choices! I forget what the menu names were but I added some pictures, sorry some were after a few bites! First and foremost this may be the best pizza dough I have ever bitten into, like it may be better than some of the dough I had on our Italy honeymoon. There is a good bit of crust which normally I am not a fan of but I didn't mind one bit with this! The sauce is lighter (not as much) as what you typically see, but was a perfect compliment to the heavier dough in my opinion. Don't take that to mean they skimped out though Bc the pepperoni was more than plentiful and whatever white pizza we had was loaded on top and had an amazing assortment of flavor. It's not your typical greasy and sauce heavy slice but this style is worth your time even if you don't live nearby (25 minutes drive for us!) Also- I'm not the best food photographer, I am working on that and trying to add more to my reviews- but you can see it was hard for me to stop my husband from continuing to eat these to snap some photos.

Spectacular pizza. It's a small place but IMO this is the best Neapolitan style pizza in Cleveland. The dough is where it's at. If you like that light, slightly chewy crust then look no further. Toppings are simple and delicious and very good quality.

They sell out fast!! First time we called at 6PM and they were sold out. Next time we called around 4PM for a 6PM pickup time. Make sure you call at least 2 hours in advance because the pickup time can be in 2 hours! We enjoyed it very much. Got the margerita and cheese pizza! And a pint of the pistachio gelato (yum!!) the slices were thin with huge crust and it was nice and yummy! We wanted to try their honey pizza but their takeout menu is different so we did not get a chance. Hopefully when they do open up again we can come by and try it =). Very nice during curb side drop off. No issues.
