Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet Cafe Takes Over Verve Coffee in West Hollywood - Eater LA

"Verve Coffee Roasters, located at 8925 Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood, is transforming into Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet Cafe from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on November 15, 16, and 17 as part of a promotion with a fintech app. The space will be redesigned for the pop-up, drawing inspiration from Carpenter’s latest album. If the Los Angeles event is anything like the one that took place in New York City in late September, attendees can anticipate an all-blue color palette, plenty of heart motifs, and even photo opportunities outside the coffee shop for those waiting in line. The beverage line-up includes drinks like the Dumb & Poetic latte, made with lavender, honey, a double shot of espresso, and oat milk, and the Common Sense chai, a tea-based riff on a PSL with pumpkin syrup, oat milk, and an optional shot of espresso. Carpenter merchandise like mugs, hoodies, and T-shirts is also available to purchase. Cash App Visa cardholders receive 30 percent off when using their card for one transaction, with a maximum discount of $40." - Cathy Chaplin

12 LA Coffee Shops Where People Go To Look Cool

"Verve's Melrose location is prime real estate for A-List celebrity sightings, but that's not what coaxes people into spending $20 on a latte and pre-packaged chia pudding. The reason Verve is a feeding ground for West Hollywoodians that love to look busy is its spacious outdoor patio. It's a popular venue for Weho power meetings, especially if you're an entertainment exec or real estate broker trying to get on reality TV. That means you’ll eavesdrop on plenty of boring conversations about work drama and bad Raya dates. The coffee, however, is still some of the city's best." - sylvio martins

Verve Coffee Roasters - Review - West Hollywood - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Verve's Melrose location is prime real estate for celebrity sightings, but that's not what coaxes people into spending $20 on a latte and pre-packaged chia pudding. It's a popular venue for Weho power meetings, especially if you're an entertainment exec or real estate broker/aspiring reality TV star who wants to look busy on the spacious patio. The coffee, here, however, remains some of the city's best. Their nitro “flash brew” on tap always has a thick foam cap like a beautiful pint of stout, and whether it's a cappuccino, cafe au lait, or gibraltar, the drinks here are consistently well-made." - Sylvio Martins

"These guys are actually based in Santa Cruz but they recently expanded into Los Angeles with two locations—one on Spring Street in the Arts District and, most recently, on Melrose in West Hollywood. No matter which location you pick, you'll find reliable internet and plenty of seating housed in a sleek, urban-feeling space. Verve also practices direct trade with farmers who source their coffee beans—an important (and very difficult to execute) practice that allows them to exceed Fair Trade minimums when they pay farmers for their goods."

Good coffee and tea. Great environment. Spacious indoor, nice outdoor garden, and a nice front patio with a view of the street.

Google
Terrific pastries and rich chai lattes! I came here after walking past many times and boy was I happily surprised. The vibe here is very much social with the outdoor space being a bit more relaxed. The staff is very kind and attentive. The drinks and food are averagely priced, but the quality is absolutely great. Definitely plan to visit this shop again!

Google
Great place for coffee lovers. Nice coffee, great food and excellent service ☕️👏

Google
Coffee is soooo good ! Avocado toast is good but too large and difficult to eat

Saul Colover

Google
Espresso here came recommended by a fellow espresso aficionado. Like Vergano, Verve gets it, their espresso is top notch, the way they have it roasted. We really enjoyed our flat whites, as is, no sugar, no sweeteners, just amazing. Nice job, you-all knocked it out of the park!

Maria Darwish

Google
Great and vibrant place that opens very early! We tried avocado on toast, it was very tasty but the bread was so hard to chew. We also had the breakfast sandwich, pain au chocolate and almond croissant which were all great. The coffee tasted delicious too! Seating is uncomfortable.

Folasade Adesanya

Google
Very nice place to sit and study/talk over coffee. Good natural light and good music. Didn’t try any coffee but based on the involuntary eavesdropping I did, it seems to be very good. There’s also very cute outdoor seating but is underneath some trees so seems like it could get dusty with falling leaves & whatnot. No complaints.

Google
I drove about 34 minutes to get to this place, only to be disappointed. On Google Maps, it clearly says they open at 7:00 AM, so I made sure to arrive right around that time. But when I got there, a guy who works there told me, “We only open at 8:00 AM.” This is really frustrating if your hours have changed, please update them online so people don’t waste their time. It might seem like a small thing, but for those of us who have to plan ahead and travel a decent distance, it matters.

Yelp
Amazing and architecturally handsome space. Friendly staff. The only thing this space needs to be top notch is curtains for the Melrose-facing windows. The sun absolutely cooks some seating and makes it difficult to read a screen. Otherwise, this is a total flagship coffee experience.

Yelp
Could be the best coffee spot to hang out or work in Weho. I just wish they had gluten free bread. Still a 5 star.

Yelp
Was so excited that Verve had reopened. I remember a few years ago this was such a hip, cool place to have coffee. I have a friend visiting from New York and he wanted to try it and as it was open we gave it a go. It still looks the same; it's bright and airy and a great place for working on your laptop. Fun people watching as it's the nice part of Melrose in WeHo, near Maxfield's. I had a few disappointments today, though. It was about 4 o'clock on a Saturday afternoon and when I ordered an almond croissant and a muffin, they said they could not heat anything up. They also had a very limited menu as it was the afternoon. So no mascarpone toast or sandwiches. 2 iced teas and 2 baked goods with tip was over $20. I'm not complaining, but I almost would've rather gone to a nearby commercial chain where they could heat up my pastry for me. All the drinks came in sippy cups. The following isn't the restaurant's fault. They have a nice free water dispenser at the end of the counter, and a man came in and washed his hands in the water dispenser, then splashed water all over the counter trying to shake the water off his hands. That sort of grossed me out. Bad manners! But again that's not Verve's fault. Maybe I'm being picky or maybe they just aren't up to speed yet but no option to heat the baked goods was just so odd to me. At the very least I would expect a really nice coffee place like this to be able to heat up a muffin. I know in France you are not supposed to reheat a croissant. It's a faux pas. But I like them warm. The employee at the checkout said that "it's ok they taste good cold". It's still better warm. I must say that the quality of the baked goods are excellent. Super cute patio and a nice buzz of people. There is a lot of metered parking up and down the surrounding streets. Check the signs carefully because sometimes on days like Thursdays, you're not allowed to park or some of them are loading zones during some parts of the day.

Yelp
I love the shop's ambience both inside and outside, however, the coffee was extremely mid. I prefer more milk than what was in the latte and the brew seemed quite weak. I did not taste any honey or lavender in the Lavender Honey Latte. The drink was pretty much unsweetened.

Yelp
This is our favorite Verve location!! It's very open and welcoming. Their pistachio latte always comes out perfect. We also tried the almond croissant this time- very flaky and flavorful.
google avatar

Garrett P.

Yelp
Food and Ambiance are great. And it's walking distance from my house, and better than the other local coffee bars, in my opinion. I go there at least once a week, and would recommend to neighbors.

Giovanni V.

Yelp
Honestly this place is pathetic. When we bring back the value of a dollar. It was bad coffee and I'm not saying more.
google avatar

Adrianna B.

Yelp
Delicious latte with coconut milk. The building is stunning, I'd come here all the time if I lived in LA!!

Yelp
Great coffee! Nice staff, trendy and busy place! Seating inside or out, pets are allowed.

Yelp
TLDR; Gorgeous cafe with beautiful indoor and outdoor space, variety of parking options, and great menu. This is the perfect place to get some remote work done or catch up with a friend. The staff here is super friendly and nice as well, which always adds to the vibe of the coffeeshop. There are solid food items on the menu as well, such as a selection of fresh pastries and breakfast items. The indoor seating area is filled with light, as the entire shop is made of ample glass. You can also walk outside to the back patio, where there are tables and cushions you can sit at. There is metered parking all around the street, but you can also park in the residential Bev Hills neighborhood if you don't mind a little walking.
google avatar

Jessica K.

Yelp
I ordered some sort of iced pumpkin drink. The menu said it was supposed to have a bunch of stuff in it. When I got it, it tasted of nothing really. It wasn't terrible, but it didn't taste of pumpkin at all. The vibes are great, so if you're looking for cute, I guess this is the place to go.
google avatar

Michael Y.

Yelp
They are open again!! I cannot tell you how happy I am!! The coffee the employees all are amazing!! I pay attention and they are all detailed. Making sure each order is perfect!! If you're hungry,....definitely try their sandwich. A definite must eat when there.

Yelp
Verve has plentiful outdoor patio and indoor seating, and is a good place to study with solid drinks and a relaxing ambience. The staff make drinks very quickly, and they have plenty of food options as well. Note that there are no outlets available inside the cafe. Parking is mainly metered street parking, and it can be difficult to find a spot when it's busy. Of all the drinks I tried, the best one was the Missile Coffee -- it was smooth, creamy, and overall delicious. It combines iced coffee with housemade syrup and cream for a satisfying cup. However, the matcha had a bit of a strange aftertaste, so I would probably skip that one.
google avatar

Lauren H.

Yelp
I got the lavender honey latte and my friend got the peppermint mocha, both tasted great! (not too sweet) I didn't stay for long, but the cafe interior seemed like a nice place to study. Prices for select drinks seemed a bit steep but mine was ok - maybe I'll try the food next time. I was lucky and got one of the actual parking spots, but otherwise mostly street parking.

Yelp
This place is a fair mix of good and bad. After my experience I'll definitely return but hope that things improve. The good: Service was great from everyone I interacted with. The vibe is fantastic, so many seating options from cushions and tables on the stairs, an outdoor deck to people watch, outdoor patio and indoor seating. The fair: My drink was okay, I ordered a hot mocha and it was just a basic mocha. I don't feel like the menu showcases any unique drinks to this place unless I missed it or there was some special menu not visible. I wouldn't mind getting a coffee here again. The bad: The bathroom was absolutely filthy. Overflowing trash, floor wet with who knows what, dirty toilet, soap dispenser barely working - it was in desperate need of attention. And the music was absurdly loud both inside AND outside. I don't understand why the outside speakers need to be blaring on top of the vehicle and foot traffic. Indoors you can barely hear each other speak.
google avatar

Afi P.

Yelp
The vibe: The height of pretension colliding with the privilege of unbridled curiosity and the placid energy that effuses from the security of never having ever been concerned about paying a bill on time...or at all. I belong here. In general: You get the usual great coffee and service that one would expect from Verve.
google avatar

Nikki H.

Yelp
I've been here a few times already and it never fails. The space is nicely designed and great for coffee and snack. The pasteries are fresh and fluffy. The croissants are fresh and crunchy as I like them and the coffee/tea is made very well. I love that they serve the coffee with the top off to showcase the milk art the barista creates. Wait is normally short and doable even if your in a rush. I would recommend trying it out if your in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
Coffee is always top notch and service team is super sweet, always a West Hollywood favorite! The seating area indoors is stylish and comfortable, great for networking if you're feeling up to it.

Manuel H.

Yelp
I got food poisoning at Verve and wondered why until I saw the black mold underneath the countertop, disgusting!! It's a miracle this place ever passed a health inspection...
google avatar

JuTing T.

Yelp
Seasonal Toast: **** If I remember it correctly, it has cheese, tomatoes, and garlic on top The ingredients are so simple yet the flavors are there, very tasty! Coffee: **** Good but not memorable Parking: street parking but there are plenty Environment: got indoor and outdoor seating, tho limited Service: good

Yelp
came here on a saturday later in the morning and it was super packed. the coffee was really sweet and watered down and the matcha latte was very milky. i asked for more sweetner for the matcha and that helped the flavor a bit. we also got the overnight oats which was surprisingly delicious and very filling. this location is hard to find parking but we lucked out with finding meter parking nearby.

Yelp
This place is exceptional! Service. Quality. Freshness. People. Location. Price point. I could keep going. Hands down an absolutely incredible space with incredible coffee & pastries (food too I just did it get any). Bravo. Can't wait to visit again.
google avatar

Haikela M.

Yelp
Went here for a quick expresso and a croissant. The espresso was great and the croissant was even better! They were packed so unfortunately I could not have my coffee there so I took it Togo instead. But still very good!
google avatar

Olivia L.

Yelp
Great place to meet friends or do work from. Also loved that there was free WiFi that was actually good! Rare for LA!
google avatar

Jeff H.

Yelp
Solid 3. Overpriced mediocre coffee - place is always dirty. La Colombe is ten times better.

Vanessa L.

Yelp
A great spot to catch up with friends. Matcha latte is excellent as are their baked goods. It can be hard to find a seat.

Robert A.

Yelp
A very positive atmosphere, vibe, and really good pastries and drinks. I have been to the Melrose (recently remodeled) and 3rd street locations.
google avatar

Jennifer H.

Yelp
I have always driven by this coffee shop and never had the chance to try, when the traffic started to die down during the Holidays, it was my chance! The coffee shop is right in the corner of the street and it's around small business and constructions. Parking is mainly on the street but you would need to pay the meter. There are plenty of space on the patio and indoor. I really enjoyed their Nitro Flash Cold Brew, one of the best Nitro coffee. Not to mention, they also have quick grab breakfast and pastries. Service: All the staffs are really nice and helpful. They also take ONLINE ORDERS. If you do not want to wait in line or just want to grab it quick and get out, there's that offer. Will be coming back more often to try their food!
google avatar

Crystol E.

Yelp
Took advantage of having the day off and checking out Verve. Right of the bat it was overly packed, that we had to form a line outside to get in. I ordered a regular iced vanilla latte with oat milk & a almond croissant. The latte was alright nothing super fancy but I figured because it was super busy it was probably made rushed which happens. The almond croissant tho was very tasty.

Yvonne M.

Yelp
It's closed. Update Yelp! Made a special trip here and so much for coffee while visiting.
google avatar

Sofya P.

Yelp
I love the vibe. Plenty seating inside. Outdoor patio is beautiful! Came here once for a quick pastry and a drink. Left satisfied!
google avatar

Lily H.

Yelp
This place has gone downhill. No wonder it was slow at noon on a Friday. It used to always be busy during lunch. Let's start with the drinks. I wish I took a photo of the latte that was poured for me. A latte first and foremost must have little bubbles, not burnt, and creamy. Next it should have at least some form of latte art on it specially if you are paying nearly $7. My latte did not have check any of those. It was bubbly, and was served like a Starbucks latte- no art and watery. the employees all look disheveled and greasy. The barista seemed over worked and untrained in pouring. Space is good and beautiful. Nice decor. Nice unique style. Several small tables for people to chat, drink, work, or study- yet they get snatched up quick. parking sucks big time now that they are doing construction and that 2 new restaurants showed up. I hope that management re trains the baristas and enforces some kind of appearance upkeep. This place use to be good.
google avatar

Carlos C.

Yelp
If you like coffee shops with modern feel, minimalist look and friendly staff? This is the place for you. I decided to get the mocha extra sweet and it's was delicious. I bought my son a croissant, he definitely liked it as he didn't even leave on piece for me to try lol. I like to rate my places from 1 to 10. 1 through 3 - will never comeback 4 through 5.8 - will come back if someone I'm with wants to try the spot 5.9 though 7.0 -will come back 7.1 through 9.9 will make an effort to come back and I would recommend the spot 10.0 is the best place! (Haven't had a 10 because there is always a better place out there. My rating for this place is 8.9 (Will you come back? Duh!) My Yelp rating is regarding the service, the experience and the quality of food or beverage.
google avatar

Alex B.

Yelp
Nice location and good coffee when visiting the area. Melrose is also a great walking street. Their service is mostly attentive but can at times be slow. Cortado was excellent
google avatar

Keith P.

Yelp
Parking: Street metered parking and sometimes it can get packed so you might have to circle around until someone leaves. There are also metered parking on Santa Monica just a block from the cafe. Seating/ambiance: there's indoor, outdoor, and patio seating. Availabilities really just depend on what day and time you come. Seats are decently comfortable and the table and counter space has been enough for me to comfortably work on my laptop while sipping some coffee. There is free Wifi though there are no outlets. My laptop has a pretty good battery life so I'm able to work here for two hours without charging. It can get pretty loud inside with the people talking around you as well as the music in the background so if you're looking for a quiet place, this might not be the place for you. Drinks: I've only gotten the vanilla and matcha lattes here and they're pretty solid. The matcha latte is actually one of the better matcha lattes I've had in LA, decent matcha flavor that's sweet but not drowning in ice or milk. The lattes are a bit pricey around $7.
google avatar

Bella D.

Yelp
quick & friendly service! there is plenty of seating, options both inside and outside. it was a nice day, so we were able to sit on the outside patio, which was still pretty peaceful for being located right on melrose! i got the iced lavender latte with oat milk, which tasted quite different than other lavender lattes i've gotten before, but i really enjoyed its uniqueness! also had to pick up beans :)

Ayla C.

Yelp
My all time favorite coffee shop! This place is a hit no matter the location. I first found out about Verve in Santa Cruz and have now been to two locations in Hollywood and the consistency of great coffees no matter the location makes Verve a must stop coffee shop for me
google avatar

Kim L.

Yelp
Great ambiance, very clean and efficient. Parking sucks but employees offer great customer service. I called ahead to pick something slightly obscure up for a Christmas gift because I didn't have time to wait for shipping and unfortunately when I got there, they did not have it in stock like they thought they did. They comped my coffee for my trouble which they didn't have to do and speaks to the level of service that verve has consistently provided throughout my time frequenting this location

Sara E.

Yelp
Amazing Coffee and Super cute vibe indoor and outdoor. Surprisingly more seating than expected. Staff was great! Loud inside, not my ideal place to work but some people might like a little noisy work vibe. No outlets ... looked all over (only reason for losing a star) but I'd def come back, just not to work :)
google avatar

Harmony M.

Yelp
My fiancé and I are low key trying to hit up every verve! We have been to this one and another in LA along with 1 in Santa Cruz. What a cute location in NOHO. It was poppin'- people studying in the cafe or just hanging out on the outdoor patio. The drinks were divine and we love that they have coffee wear and gear for purchase- we always buy v60 filters.

Mo B.

Yelp
Perfect location and beautiful café. I used to love this place, and go out of my way to get my coffee when I'm in another city if I know there is a Verve...but man has this specific Verve gone downhill. Some of the baristas seem to have no idea how to make a decent mocha, or even Americano (hot water, and espresso). The orders get screwed up at the cash register, and then some of the barista act as if it's the customers fault. One of the female baristas can't be bothered. So disappointing, especially since so many of my business meetings and social coffee dates took place here, at my suggestion. I want to love you again Verve! Please hire some better employees that care about your good name.
google avatar

Shant J.

Yelp
Verve is a nice spot, with good coffee and even better pastries. I had the Gibraltar and an almond croissant while reading a book on the patio.
google avatar

Sara B.

Yelp
Got the iced chai latte. It was a little watered down but overall was pretty good. The atmosphere of Verve is really calm. Nice spot but wouldn't go out of my way for it.
google avatar

Grace W.

Yelp
The verve is great! Busy bustling coffee shop on any given day, there's nice bar seating outside but it's pretty sunny with little shade. I've been here a couple times now and the ambience, the vibe and energy is great. It's a great place to meet up and catch up with friends or catch up on some work. I had the iced matcha latte with oat milk, the iced chai latte, their lemon olive oil bread, the chia seed pudding, avocado toast, and their scone. The pastries do look amazing and fresh, I'm less of a scone person and thought it was dry but I feel like warmed up it would've tasted better. The lemon bread was really good and sweet though. The chia seed pudding was good but it was made ready to go in the fridge and felt expensive / overpriced for what it was, the avocado toast was pretty good too. The drinks were also good, not the best chai or matcha I've had but decent as a coffee shop!

Patrick B.

Yelp
// Summary Excellent coffee with somewhat limited indoor seating that would be a great place to work or to meet one-on-one for a coffee date or social. // Experience I ordered a pourover and a croissant, and they were great. I've always been a big fan of Verve, and this is no exception. // Service My pourover came out when it should have - there were a couple of orders ahead of me and it took a bit of time as it was relatively busy. It did kind of make me want to get a latte or some kind of espresso drink as I waited, but that's kind of what you should expect if you order a pourover and other folks are ordering pourovers before you. I was trying to bus my dishes cause it wasn't clear whether or not I was supposed to, but I went up near the bar and it was a bit odd that I had to wait a bit for one of the guys to stop socializing with one of his friends to get him to notice that he should probably take my dishes. // Ambiance As with other Verve shops I've visited, this shop had a clean aesthetic. Seating is somewhat limited inside, they do have a couple of small tables and I think two sets of counter seating, one that has a weird mirror along with it. They do seem to have some outdoor seating, but I didn't really pay attention to whether or not it was plentiful. The music choice was interesting, but I was digging the jazzed-up versions of Disney songs. It's a great place to work, and maybe a great place for a 1:1 social or coffee date, but is probably not suitable for a group setting unless you want to sit outside. // Convenience I Ubered here, but the parking situation didn't seem terrible. The bathrooms were relatively clean. The wifi wasn't an issue, but I wasn't doing anything particularly demanding.

Yelp
First time to this CA native chain and quite impressed by their precision and quality of product. My coffee's complicated since I've been on Whole 30 - an iced almond milk latte made of 2/3 decaf beans It was the most delicious one I've had of many! I also ordered a breakfast egg sandwich (with modifications of course:) that was perfect, with super high quality bacon. Did I forget the great vibe? Substantial indoor and outdoor seating at a great location on Melrose.
google avatar

Nicole D.

Yelp
I initially came to visit this location because I loved the arts district verve. This one on melrose is a lot smaller. Parking is okay, it's paid meter parking with a max of 2 hours. As of right now (jan 2022) there is no indoor seating, but they do have a lot of outdoor seating. There are a couple issues, one being the wifi isn't very good. There is also a lot of construction going on around the cafe. So if you're coming here to do some work, it might be hard to even do so without any wifi and the loud construction.
google avatar

Emily L.

Yelp
Tried the chai latte and the peach black tea kombucha! Both drinks were really strong (especially the chai, which had a strong spicy kick to it, which I really liked). There's really nice and bright lighting inside and the environment is perfect for doing work and studying if you like having background noise! It can get pretty crowded though and it's hard to find a place to park if their parking lot is filled up.

Joshua C.

Yelp
Decent coffee shop with ample amount of indoor seating, but it could have used some outlets available for use. The coffee was fine, nothing spectacular. Would have wished if they had presented it more nicely, such as in a ceramic mug (for the macchiato), but given that it was after 4, they must have stopped using those dishes, which I understand. The latte was very sweet, it didn't taste as much coffee as it did vanilla syrup. They also have a limited selection of syrups being chocolate, vanilla, and honey. The macchiato was small (the traditional size) and very strong. It definitely caffeinated me. I would maybe come back to try some pastries and hopefully find a drink that I find more interesting. I would probably come if my laptop was charged fully.
