"While Via Tribunali shouldn’t be your first choice for pizza on Capitol Hill, it shouldn’t be your last, either. It’s the perfect middle-tier Neapolitan spot for something special that also can be thrown together last-minute—like a big birthday dinner, splitting a spicy salami pie and a caesar salad with a date, or a weekend midnight conclusion to bar-hopping that isn't a sidewalk slice at Big Mario's. Go in on some sparkling wine, enjoy the dimly lit romantic ambience, and if you’re getting a margherita, always spring for buffalo mozzarella." - Aimee Rizzo

"Via Tribunali has been a Seattle mainstay for many years, serving its popular Neapolitan pizza since it opened in 2004 with Caffe Vita founder Mike McConnell and his wife Liz at the helm. Though the restaurant had expanded over the past 16 years (even opening outposts in Portland and New York at one point), the imprint has since shrunk to Seattle only. Its remaining two locations in the city had been closed for months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but have now reopened for to-go orders under the new ownership." - Gabe Guarente

Waited a while on a Sunday night which surprised me. Ambience is lovely with lots of natural light and comfortable booths. Pizzas are large enough for 2 people, and are wonderful doughy soft and flavorful. They give you scissors for cutting the pizza which was cute and worked well. The "tre carni" pizza was very salty, and the toppings fell off as soon as you picked up the slice, but it was overall good pizza.

Google
Such a great neighborhood restaurant! Nice atmosphere, great food, good service. Not typical American pizza, so don’t come in expecting that! Closer to authentic Italian style pizza. Clams were amazing too.

I’m a regular here and the food is always amazing. The atmosphere and service workers are always great! The pizzas come out in about 5 minutes and everything is always so fresh. I couldn’t recommend this place enough, it is my go to.

Excellent thin crust Naples style pizza. Lovely atmosphere and service.

Visited this restaurant for dinner with a friend. The ambiance was charming, and the selection of pizza was impressive. However, the vegetarian options were limited. While the Naples-style pizza was decent, it wasn't the best I've had. I found the pizza scissors unnecessary and the pizza cooled down too quickly. On the bright side, parking was ample on the street, and the service was excellent.

I loved this place. The ambiance and space were inviting and the food was amazing. I’ve spent a bit of time in Italy and this pizza tasted identical to some I’ve had over there. The Nutella dessert was so good, we devoured it. I can’t wait to come back here!

Google
Great atmosphere and authentic pizza. Check out that pizza oven! I don’t understand why the pizza line up the street is an hour-ish on late weekend nights when Via Tribunali will happily take your order and promptly and deliciously fulfill it. They have takeout as well.

Was recommended by a neighbor to visit this restaurant. Food was good but the seating is very tight. Unfortunately the family seated next to me kept hitting my chair but it's understandable with how tight the tables are placed together. Food also took an incredibly long time to come out. The other tables around us were seated later, ordered later, and still received their food prior to my table. Overall I don't think I would recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
Not sure why this place rates fairly low on Yelp. Been coming here for years and always enjoy their Naples style pizza! I'm a half Italian New Yorker and spent time in Central and Southern Italy, so am selective with pizza. The pizza dough is light, thin and served just crisp enough. Only one time it came out a bit soggy. The toppings are high quality. The wine offerings are great. Salads are tasty too. It's a cozy space and I enjoy sitting upstairs when it's cold and rainy out. Never had an issue with service but keep in mind, they do get busy and it's a tight space.

Yelp
Went to Via Tribunali early on a Sunday and we got seating right away. The ambiance is cozy and authentic. We got the Americano which has Salame piccante (similar to pepperoni) and sausage. The pizza was very delicious and could easily serve 2 although we were told it was personal size when ordering. The pizza does not come cut into pieces, instead they offer scissors and you can cut slices as you like. Not only is the food top-notch, but the service is also amazing. The staff is very friendly, and always ready with a recommendation or a smile.

Yelp
I'm really glad I tried Via Tribunali despite some less than stellar reviews (mostly service related issues). We were able to sit right away on a Saturday night at around 6pm and ordered two pizzas which came out very quickly. The pizzas were delicious and priced well for what you get. The verde pizza had a really tasty pesto and although I am not usually a fan of goat cheese, it worked really well with the combo of pesto, artichokes, peppers, and mozzarella. The quattro formaggi was really great too, and I am a regular quattro formaggi orderer. I was definitely impressed. The waiter was nice and made sure we had everything we needed. I'll be back!

Yelp
Service disjointed crust was floppy in the middle and they ran out of their signature ingredient which was spinach and had to substitute basil. We tried this on restaurant week. We will not be back

B J.

Yelp
We've had several good meals here in the past, but last week was not one of them. Service was a bit off...not bad, but not good either. Pizza was not close to being hot and that not withstanding, it was just mediocre. There are so many good choices for pizza in the neighborhood and this really doesn't stand up. Wine pours are very small with generous prices. Probably won't be going back unless there are some changes.

David W.

Yelp
I really like the pizza, but the service is so consistently bad I'm not going back for a long time, if ever. There is almost always an uncomfortably long wait to be seated in the awkward spot in front of the restaurant, even when you have a reservation. Then tonight after finally being seated, it took 20+ minutes before someone took our order. Then we were ignored for like 15 minutes after finishing our pizza when we were thinking of dessert (we didn't get anything because the wait was so long). Blech.

Zheng X.

Yelp
Sooooo bad pizza! We had a takeout and all the pizzas are super burnt! Worse pizza ever! Yelp should give an option of zero star.

Eric C.

Yelp
My partner and I love coming here. We have had a great experience with the wait staff, especially on my partner's birthday, where they went out of their way to make sure the dinner was as enjoyable as possible (we got free Tiramisu). The Aperol Spritz is classic and very refreshing on a hot day (drank mine too fast to take a picture) and the pizza is amazing. Love the Americano personally, and if you like spicy, then ask for chili oil which compliments their pies fantastically. Can't wait to go back, and this time I'll be sure to take more pictures

Yelp
Ive been here 3 times now and live in the area. First time was for happy hour. Very slow service but food was good. Second time I had their pasta Bolognese which was very good and several glasses of decent Italian wines. It can get busy so I went early on Friday and it wasn't busy. However, the server that seated me ignored me for 10 minutes. I finally got up and said something. A waitress that's been there awhile offered to help me and did so quickly and apologizing for not having enough help. She took my order and brought me a wine and salad. Then I waited again and watched how a table of 3 guys got their pizza before me and a second round of drinks. They came in way after me. I had to flag the server again and asked about my pizza. When it came it was not completely done. All I can say is I have spent good money here several times and was going to bring a guest but now I will not. They need to hire another person if they can't handle their tables. The kitchen is overwhelmed by take out orders. You are better off ordering take out as you will get it faster. They could have remedied themselves by giving me a free glass of wine but they did not. There's no excuse even in the days of this pandemic to ignore your returning customers. I have worked in the business before and I refuse to support a local business that treats their customers so poorly. There are plenty of local restaurants that will do better than this. So long Via Tribunal.

Yelp
Molto buono!! just a few blocks from our Airbnb and also near the Grey's Anatomy house....what a great Italian restaurant!! totally a neighborhood hang but definitely an upscale vibe....we were hungry so my kids got a arugula salad w olive oil and lemon....we split it and i got the shaved parmesan...they're vegan....the place takes special orders of vegan pizza and i ordered a quattoria something pizza....its basically a four meat topping pizza which they segregate into four sections....or you can do like i did and have them mix the meats over the pizza....did i mention that these are hand tossed and baked ....soooo irregular and tasty....went perfectly with my local pilsner....highly recommend!!

Jay L.

Yelp
This is the closest I've come locally to the pizza I ate in northern Italy! If you crave a thin crust with a nice char, tangy tomato base, and carefully selected, high-quality toppings, this is the place for you! But be warned, real Italian-style pizza might not be your thing. If what you want is a ton of stretchy cheese and thick layers of toppings, look elsewhere. This place is fantastic at what they do, but it's a specific thing that isn't calibrated to typical American tastes.

Xueyan L.

Yelp
Food tastes good and pure. interior has a strong style that makes this place a deep tone but nice. Would go back regularly.

Auntie A.

Yelp
This place is such a wonderful surprise! To find authentic Italian pizza, which is fabulous in this hidden spot was a real treat! Thank you to our friends for sharing! A new destination in indulging in our favorite! Try the "Fungi" my favorite!

Steve D.

Yelp
I don't know what it is, but it's no longer Neapolitan pizza. Rather than dots of fresh mozzarella, it was covered with mozzarella from edge to edge. Maybe you'll like that, but it's not Neapolitan. Pizza was also undercooked so the crust was doughy with barely any char, as well as very little rise around the edge. It's pizza, so you can eat it, but I doubt you'll think it's worth the price.

Lacy S.

Yelp
Fantastic Neapolitan pies with fresh, quality, whole ingredients. Don't miss the Cesar salad with anchovies! YUUUM!!!

Giorgio P.

Yelp
Great location, atmosphere, prices and quality of the pizzas. If you like your Italian thin crust pizza a little more on the crispy side then ask them to cook it just a little longer and they'll do a great job, just like in Italy!

Caitlin L.

Yelp
We were searching for a quick dinner spot on a Saturday night and stumbled across Via Tribunali, and we were seated very quickly. We ordered the Bufalina DOC and rapini Al forno. The Rapini Al Forno was a bland, we felt the need to ask for salt on the side and extra chili flakes, and it wasn't anything spectacular. The Bufalina DOC was decent, although the portion is really small for the price. We had no issues with the service, and overall it was good but not outstanding.

Kim S.

Yelp
The food was DELICIOUS. The service was absolutely HORRIBLE. We arrived on Dec 27 when they opened at 5:00. The place had one table occupied. When you walk in the servers are in the back by the bar so we walked up to them after not being greeted and she told us to go back and wait by the front window while she prepared the table. There were two women serving us. The one with glasses that helped with the table and seemed to be clearing dishes was nice. The server couldn't be more rude or annoyed with anything we asked. She never once smiled, introduced herself or showed any signs of being friendly at all. after sitting for about 10-15 min without any service I asked if we could order drinks and apps and she said " yes, i was helping someone else" Ok! No need to be defensive, I simply asked. When we finally got to order dinner my friend asked if they had a Syrah or Shiraz. The waitress replied " is that wine? I don't know about wines " She could have shown my friend a wine list or gone and checked but she was so rude my friend chose to stick with water. We watched her interact with other customers and they all seemed concerned about her attitude. I had a soda Tht was $2.75 which is average for a fountain soda. Then I noticed I was charged $1.00 for each refill!!! Really??? We had 2 apps, the olives and an app that had mozzarella, tomatoes, basil and literally 3 thin slices of bread. There were 5 of us and there was a lot of cheese and tomatoes left but only 3 slices. That was weird. We ordered 3 different pizzas to share. No one ever checked to see how things were. We also had 2 desserts at the end. They were good. By the time we left the restaurant was busy but for the first half of our visit there was just one other party so definitely no reason for her to be so rude. If they don't want you to come back to ask for a table they should have a sign up front to wait or come greet you. I have never been so appalled by a server. She was young but there's no excuse for how we were treated. We wanted to leave after the appetizer but we're going to a show and didn't have time. The pizza was so good but because of the service I would NEVER return to this location.

Kris I.

Yelp
Showed up at 8:40 knowing they closed at 9 and ready to order - turned away. The last seating is apparently 8:30...come on, that pizza does not take that long:). They were rude ... we've been coming here for years and apparently they have all the business they need. No more.

Cindy I.

Yelp
I had high hopes. Very cute neighborhood place. More romantic seating upstairs but know it is a bit warmer up there. Smelled great so we ordered two different pizzas to try. They weren't bad but won't knock your socks off. The sauce disappeared with the other toppings so would have been nice to have more flavor and spices. The crust started out ok (not great) but got soggy half way through the meal so then was a turn off. If we lived in this area I may go again if I wanted a quick meal but will not make it a destination restaurant.

Colleen B.

Yelp
I love Via Trib. Easily my favorite pizza in the city. It's also my go to "girl date" spot with my BFF AND I Frequently hit up the HH The ambience is always great. The servers are ALWAYS nice and helpful. The pizza is I usually order the Capricoca but the clam pizza is garlicy and amazing and if you like seafood I definitely recommend it! (Clams on pizza seemed weird to me at first but it works!) At HH I prefer the house white to the red for the half carafe, but the cocktails are really good too. Each location is slightly different in space I prefer Fremont but they're all great.

Brandon M.

Yelp
Great place if you like eating greasy, floppy pizza in the dark off of plates that you can't see but sort of feel slimy for some reason. Oh, and also a great place to go if you like cutting your own pizza with a wet pair of scissors stuffed under your pizza. Nasty salads, super loud, weak pours on wine. Overall just underwhelming and mediocre. A great alternative would be, anything other than this. Seriously, don't even consider it. Just go somewhere else while you still can.

Leonardo B.

Yelp
The best pizza napoletana in town . I've been going there since 2010 . Margherita Pizza

Katherine G.

Yelp
Via Tribunali has such a warm environment. As the pizza lover that I am, I am always trying new pizza places in Seattle! Their pizza is good but can have a lot of flavors going on. I also think that the pizza is too thin in the middle. Their crust is amazing and you have to try their chili oil to drizzle on their pizza! Their staff is kind. Definitely going to be back!

Emily P.

Yelp
Food was delicious! We ordered the fratelli di bufala pizza and the rigatoni bolognese. This is my new favorite spot and cannot wait to eat here again.

Ashley G.

Yelp
I've been here once on a very busy Friday night. In short, I highly recommend this place, but don't sit at the bar. The general atmosphere felt cozy and intimate with candle light. I would recommend for a first date. I sat at the bar area. It was cramped and close to the kitchen so lots of employees were working around me. Not a very comfortable dining experience since I felt like I was in the way. The lasagna I had was excellent. The smoked mozzarella was the dominant flavor, and the red sauce was nicely distributed throughout. They have a nice selection of wine, beer on tap, and a variety of cocktails.

Jen T.

Yelp
Margherita DOC pizza and Marinara Pizzas are delicious!!!! My favorite is the Margherita DOC. Because the pizzas are fired at 1000', they come out quick. The crust is thin and crispy, the ingredients are fresh and absolutely delicious! The wine isn't half bad either;) The only con is sometimes the parking but a few block circles should get you a space on the street(fyi-street parking is free from Saturday evening until Monday at 8am) Highly recommend!!!

Nena P.

Yelp
As like other reviewer I too had high hopes. Very cute decor and place. I often go to Molly Moon next door and notice Via Tribunali next door. We had just visited Italy and was craving authentic Neapolitan pizza! Unfortunately Via Tribunali pizza fell short of all the advertisement and rave. The tomato sauce was tasty, but the other ingredients were short on quality. The crust was very chewy and lacked crunch. The bottom of the pizza was very burnt and made both pizza taste bitter. We ordered the Margherita and Capricciosa Pizza. To make matters even less enjoyable was the lack of service, borderline rude. Two and a half stars at best. This would be my first and last visit to Via Tribunali.

Pao L.

Yelp
The pizza was meh. The bathroom (same one, male or female) was gross. Rundown with dirty tile floors in the bathroom and sink wasn't draining properly- so stuff was all accumulated in it. I could excuse the food (which was ok), but that bathroom gave me no faith in this place.

Danielle D.

Yelp
Very nice little place, feels very authentic. Ordered the tomato sauce gnocchi, daviola pizza and quatre stagioni pizza. The gnocchi was a Little bit to saucy for me, I regret not going for pizza myself. They tasted all yummie! And the Nutella calzone as desert....delicious! Too bad the hostess is not very friendly, Otherwise I would have given 4 stars

Sofia E.

Yelp
Best pizza in Seattle. Hands down. Get pepperoni pizza with extra basil.

Ilana S.

Yelp
LOVE the Lupino pizza! This is my favorite restaurant in Seattle! You also must get the Nutella calzone dessert! Highly recommend the appetizer with goat cheese and fire roasted tomatoes!

Kristie B.

Yelp
Food is great. Service is great. Best Via Trib there is! The pizzas are made with care and perfection while the caesar salads are bangin'. The servers are such lovely people.

Jacob D.

Yelp
Usually Via Trib has been great, but tonight's dinner was disappointing. Our pizza was undercooked--the center was very doughy. The lasagna was quite runny, oily, and also was undercooked. I think they may have been rushing to get the food out because we were waiting for a few minutes past the estimated pickup time. Nothing worse than a bad meal from a place that we normally love.

Shelly L.

Yelp
I went here with the kids at 5:15 pm and the place was packed. I realized it was Happy Hour here from 5-6. Each kid got a Happy Hour pizza and they split the nutella calzone for dessert...not bad for $6/item. I ordered the caesar salad which was tasty along with a Dante pizza. Overall, great food and quick service. One star off for dirty plates that had leftover red stains on it and slow water refills. The water glasses are quite small.

Chikadee L.

Yelp
Finally---real pizza in Seattle! The pizzas taste amazing---great toppings & crust. I think they have a pizza oven from Italy, so they're cooked to perfection. The decor is like a tavern with candles everywhere (bring glasses to see the menu if you have bad vision)---great vibe! I'll be back!

Mikaela B.

Yelp
Great pizza and the cooks made them quickly. Poor service by the bartender who took our order. He was super unfriendly, never checked in on us, and never filled up our waters. Most of the service staff was off-putting and made us feel like a hindrance. I'll probably order takeout from now on.

Nicole W.

Yelp
Good stuff. The bf and I have gotten take out from here several times now. They get big bonus points for being willing to make any of their special pizzas without cheese, as the bf has a dairy allergy going on. Via Tribunali is so far the best pizza I've had in Seattle. Good thin crust (not too thin), usually generous on the toppings, good quality ingredients. It is not the best pizza I've ever had. But so far it comes closer than anyplace else in the city to a good Neapolitan pizza. I am surprised no one has mentioned The Lady On The Box. If you order carry out you will receive a box with an extremely well endowed pizzarista on it. Not really a problem, but it surprises me every time. I mean, it's a pretty sexy pizza box. Wayyyy sexier than that little Caesar dude. Haven't eaten in yet but I'm eager to do so - looks like they have a nice wine selection and the space seems cozy. Good spot for dinner or carry out and accommodating of special diet needs.

Janet Y.

Yelp
Love love love this restaurant and location. It feels like a neighborhood pizza place that can be as romantic or laid back as you'd like. I work a night schedule, so it's always hard to find a place serving food late at night. The pizzas are so good. Just a heads up- it's the thin neopolitan pizza. The only downfall is that the prices are high... That is unless you can catch a happy hour deal... Almost too good to be true!!

Jason C.

Yelp
Was in town for vacation, staying at a house a few blocks away. I've eaten at probably 10-15 VPN pizzerias, and honestly I don't recall a better one. Perfectly cooked, high quality ingredients. I had the Bufalina D.O.C. Good list of salads (I had the tri-color/ricotta) and wine as well. The place is a little more hipster than I prefer, but the service was great. Very low-lighting, so be ready to break out the phone flashlight to order if your eyes aren't great. Very highly recommended!

Kelly S.

Yelp
We returned here after years and were the first customers when they opened! The pizza was ok, And I mean like they skipped two ingredients that were on the pizza. Staff was quiet and not talking to each other and overall the pizza was soggy, oily and lacked flavor. Sad experience post first try! Manager was nice!

Jennifer A.

Yelp
I have lived in Queen Anne since February and tried this restaurant for the first time tonight. Never going back. I ordered the $14 lasagna dinner for takeout. When I arrived home, I opened the box to much of my dismay. There lay one lonely piece of lasagna. Yes, ONE lonely piece of lasagna. I know Queen Anne has a reputation, but??? I have tried several restaurants in the area and well frankly--am comparing this experience to the others... Please next time notify a patron that the lasagna dinner option is only ONE lonely piece of lasagna with no side salad or bread.... Sincerely, CONFUSED

Anna M.

Yelp
the food is so good. But it is so, so, so expensive. Every time I go there I do a double take because I think they overcharged me. Is it worth it? I mean I guess, because I go back, but honestly I would price the menu a bit lower.

Maddy C.

Yelp
This is hands down the best pizza in Seattle. The wood fired crust is amazing, the sauces are the bomb, and the toppings are always fresh and packed with flavor. My favorite is the Americana but I love trying all of the different pizzas they have to offer and I have yet to try a pizza I don't like. The burrata is to die for and they have amazing tiramisu. This place is worth a try for sure.

Rachel H.

Yelp
This place is loved by many a Seattlite, so perhaps we need to go back and try again? I don't exactly get the magic, mainly because I don't taste the magic. I like their decor and their great aesthetics --they have accurately captured the feeling of being in a small mom and pop shop in Rome, which is not easily done. I appreciate the chutzpa of a charcuterie starter before a meat pizza (panache!) and wine served European style in a bistro glass. This all adds to the authentic "I'm in Roma" feel, but the food is not remarkable across the board. We find the pizza here tends towards the greasy. The cheese looks glassy. The sauce, average. The toppings? Just okay. Via Tribunali has many, many fans, but with so many great pizza choices in Seatown, we will have to bow out gracefully in favor of other really tasty options. (I do have to say, the idea of a Nutella calzone is a genius move. So props for that.)

Mahealani S.

Yelp
I just ordered 2 pizza & a calzone yesterday evening take out. Imagine my dismay when I opened my box and it looks like the salami was just dumped on one side of pizza and the mushrooms on the other leaving just sauce between other slices ... for a $60 purchase you'd think they'd show more class in presentation . Me & mine will never patronage Queen Anne location again. Capital hill is great , in all truth Tutta Bella tops them all in service , decor and prices .

Alexandra W.

Yelp
The best Neapolitan-style pizza in Seattle (also Vera certified). The ingredients are always fresh and pizzas are delicious, I also highly recommend trying the calzones. We have been customers for years and it has become a place we take out-of-town guests as a way of showing them Seattle. They have a great wine list, as well.

Chelsea M.

Yelp
Amazing dinner we had here and already cannot wait to come back to get the same thing again. We came on a three course voucher so we each ordered a starter, a pizza to share, and a dessert and it was perfect, everything! The fresh arugula salad was fresh and delicious with just some amazing parm on top and a lemon dressing. His caprese was good and ample though the tomatoes were not as ripe as they probably should be for a caprese. The pizza...WOW. We tried the Via Tribunali, the house special. When she brought it to our table I didn't think it was the right pizza, but it was. It was a combination pizza and calzone. The perfect crust enclosing the sausage and tomato sauce on one end and the ricotta and rapini filling on the other end and showcasing their fresh mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, and arugula in the middle. It had it all going on and it worked so well. It was even more fantastic presented on a wood serving tray with scissors to cut the perfect crust. And dessert!!!! Order the nutella calzone. Just do it. That great pizza crust with just the right amount of salt enclosing the oozing nutella contained within. Topped with a drizzle more of nutella and powdered sugar and you are in heaven. Also came with scissors for cutting. And sit upstairs if you can. You can watch the action in the kitchen and the pizza oven, have your privacy, and stair out the window past the basil plants in the sill and pretend like you are in Italy.
