The 29 Best Restaurants In Lisbon - Lisbon - The Infatuation

"Vida de Tasca delivers peak tasca energy: paper tablecloths, a handwritten daily menu pinned to a board, quick, zero-fuss service, and homestyle cooking that tascas are known for. Every day, there are perfectly prepared hearty tasca classics—one day grilled kidneys, the next a rich cuttlefish stew. The plump, garlicky bitoque is a permanent resident, along with rotating grilled meats and fish. The environment is low-key, and you’ll dine alongside everyone from construction workers to grandmothers to a famous member of a local band if you’re lucky. Finish with the caramel mousse (baba de camelo), and yes, lick the bowl." - rita geraldes

The 36 Best Restaurants in Lisbon, Portugal | Eater

"Neo-tascas are popping up everywhere in the city, but few seem to channel the old-school tavern charm as well as Vida de Tasca in the Alvalade neighborhood. Chef Leonor Godinho spent years visiting traditional Portuguese eateries with friends before opening her own interpretation in a space that housed a classic tasca for over 40 years. Vida de Tasca stays true to tasca traditions with affordable prices, daily specials, and snacks like cod fritters and croquettes, all sans pretension. It’s a no-frills place, offering excellent food and the nostalgic charm of old Lisbon." - Rafael Tonon

In Alvalade, in a small dead end road between Av de Roma and Av de EAU, this family Tasca offers a traditional menu and a good focused wine card at fair prices in an informal ambiance with an open kitchen and informal service. We were a small group that had the couvert with delicious Galician olives and a tasty cheese, for mains a great Açores de garoupa and a very fresh braised tuna steak with vegetables, and for dessert a deliciously creamy baba, all with a good bottle of red Dão, waters and coffee for €28/pax which is a steal in this neighbourhood.

Really good! If you like old school tascas but also a bit of a hip vibe, this is your place. Lively, good atmosphere, friendly, and very traditional (and very well done) dishes. Totally recommend.

My husband and I had an amazing, late lunch. The owner and team were so welcoming. Our lunch was delicious and the house vinho verde was amazing. I highly recommend and we’ll likely be back to wrap up our trip!

I read about Vida de Tasca when planning my trip to Lisbon and I so pleased with the meal we had today. I was looking for authentic Portuguese food away from the tourist hotspots and this place exceeded my expectations. The bitoque was amazing and they have the best croquetes. It was my birthday today and the staff really made me feel welcome and even gave us a free shot of moonshine. Highly recommended.

This is a great neighborhood restaurant, old school in best way. The steak fites were amazing as well as the many fish options. The service was impeccable and don’t miss out on the grappa to finish. Highly recommend.

Wonderful vegan “bitoque” from pleurotus mushrooms, with french fries and kale greens. The soup of the day (spinach) was delicious too. Even the bread was perfect. Super friendly staff.

Local spot. We found this place because it was the only place near our hotel that was open for lunch before 12pm. We travelled from Canada and only speak English, and the owner was extremely nice and patient with us as we used our Google translator to order from the menu. Nice little spot tucked away at the end of a small street, we enjoyed sitting on the terrace and their Bacalhau (grilled cod) which came with boiled potatoes and legumes. Thank you for welcoming us to your restaurant.
