Truly blown away by this coffee shop. I’m not sure what I expected but expectations were definitely exceeded. I ordered the coconut Vietnamese iced coffee and it was INCREDIBLE. I’ts been on my mind rent free. The atmosphere is chill and cozy while you get free smells on the delicious empanadas they’re cooking up. Lastly want to comment on the service. While enjoying my coffee, a worker came up to check on how things were and I must say, I appreciated that because it doesn’t happen enough at coffee shops in Chicago. 10/10 recommend! What a gem of a place 💗

An excellent place for good Vietnamese coffee! They also have sensory friendly notices and headphones, super helpful! The space is a bit smaller so there might not be enough room for seating but the area is really nice to walk around! Give it a try!

Run, don’t walk, to Vietfive Coffee for your next caffeine fix. We are visiting and I am so thankful we stumbled across this place three days ago. I’ve been here each morning for a #3 Ca Phe w/ coconut condensed milk and a Pork Empanada. Soooo good. If you’re stopping by for lunch, highly recommend the OG Bahn Mi. Gonna be grabbing a second one after the lunch rush. Also a great spot to work for a bit.

Absolutely loved my visit to this Vietnamese coffee shop! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it the perfect spot to unwind. Their staff is incredibly friendly. The coffee here is rich and flavorful, with an amazing selection of traditional Vietnamese options alongside unique combos like the ube latte and egg coffee—both must-tries! The Asian fusion empanadas were delicious, with each bite offering a perfect balance of crispiness and savory, inventive fillings inspired by both Asian and Latin American cuisine. Highly recommend giving this place a try!

I ordered here recently and had the original banh mi bowl was sooooo delicious! I ate it all in one sitting. I also ordered the original banh mi as well, and it was what I imagined! I grew up eating a lot of banh mi and the flavor was there! Pickled daikons are my favorite and they make their own! And it’s *chefs kiss* Ube latte was amazing! I need to try their coffee next! But I’m sure it’s super delicious knowing that they grow their own coffee beans!

Get the ube latte! Omg I'm obsessed with it. It was so delicious. The matcha latte was quite bitter but I think Americans are really used to sweet. Staff was kind, the shop is set up really cute and it was a great place to spend a rainy Saturday afternoon.

Coffee: Tastes like high quality dark chocolate. So good!! Bought a bag of beans. Banh Mi was outstanding and worth the money. To boot, the coffee is from the owners family farm in Vietnam?? Just awesome

(W)ow - Such an adorable interior design and pink/red theme - the pink ladder and red scooter were perfect Valentines day touches (A)ge - mostly 20s, students or working adults with laptops (M)enu - I got the hot ube latte, which was the only drink available in decaf! I swear it tasted like melted butter on popcorn. The closest thing to ambrosia from the percy jackson series. Also, it's entirely purple - who can say no to that?

Came to this store for a sponsored event but this review is on the items I purchased separately. Very cute cafe. Upon learning the family connection to Vietnam, I had to purchase some of the coffee beans. The beans are sourced from the owner's family in Vietnam but roasted here in Chicago. I am so impressed with the coffee beans (red package) that I purchased. The price was reasonable at only $15 for 12 oz. Check them out, they have some delicious sandwiches and empanadas. I will be back to get a nice ice cold Vietnamese coffee.

Got the classics. Ube latte, classic banh mi sandwich, and bbq pork empanada. Service was great. The empanadas are usually sitting the warmer but there happened to be a fresh batch of the bbq pork coming out so I managed to snag a piping hot one to munch while I waited for my other items. The inside had cubed bbq pork, some sliced caramelized carrots and cilantro. I really enjoyed the bits of cilantro which added depth to the flavor. The edges were crispy. The iced ube latte came next. I sipped it before stirring and the robusta coffee was strong and a bit bitter but once the ube was mixed in, it was well balanced and nutty. The banh mi took a little longer to assemble but came out fresh and toasted, cut in half with each half individually wrapped with foil. The space has lots of seating options from bar to table to sofa. Has a corner for their merch and coffee beans. And near the cashier there's also a small snack stand for Asian goodies.

LOVED the Jerk Chicken Empanada. When I asked the owner for recommendations due to some dietary restrictions, he said this was his favorite & it did not disappoint! Super flavorful pulled chicken plus pickled carrots & radish inside. I didn't expect it to have both. Bigger portion that you realize, so if you're looking for a snack or light meal, this works!

I haven't had a bahn mi and some time and was looking to fill my craving. Fortunately I happened to be in the neighborhood and ordered ahead. I ordered the original bahn mi and the bahn mi empanada. Unfortunately the empanada was not included and I was too far out to turn around. The bahn mi was cut in half and wrapped in foil. I mistakened one of the foil packets for the empanada when I looked in the bag before leaving. Going back to the bahn mi - it was mostly great but was more tangy because of the pickled veggies. So much so it overpowered the pate and mayo - if it was indeed added to the sandwich. I'm used to original bahn mis being more savory and/or balanced with the pickled veggies. Perhaps they were off with my order. I will try again in the future.

Got their Ube Latte (w Robusta Coffee) and Ca Phe w/ Sweetened Condensed Milk. Nice chilled vibes in a lovely walkable neighborhood. Drinks are ok but if you want to try Vietnamese coffee this is worth trying.

A nice location in a quieter part of the West Loop area. There are a few paid street parking spots out front and a few spaces inside to work/sit. I've been here twice and met the owner once - he was really kind and welcoming! My favorite drink is the Ube latte - it's very well-bodied and the Ube flavor is perfect. I recently got the Vietnamese Coffee (Ca Phe) with Condensed Milk and unfortunately, this was not my favorite. I've had a lot of Vietnamese coffees and this just didn't taste like what I've had in the past. The coffee lacked flavor as it tasted watered down and there was very little sweetness/creaminess in the condensed milk. I'd probably pass on this. They also offer Banh Mi sandwiches and puff pastries if you need a bite while you're here!

Ordered a few Bahn mi sandwiches and Vietnamese coffee from here to our hotel. The good- the sandwiches are really good. The meat was seasoned well, veggies were fresh. The coffee - it was very watery, not at all like the Vietnamese coffee I get in little Saigon in CA.

Great place for Viet coffees. I've only tried the egg coffee and it hits the spot - the egg is creamy and the coffee has the right amount of sweetness. Definitely super caffeinated (in a good way). The ube latte looks amazing, would love to go back and try it. Service is friendly as well, but slightly pricey for its sizes.

Very cute place, they have delicious food options, as well as great drinks! I got an iced vanilla latte and a banh mi (chicken) empanada, my son got a mochi smores donut. All had a great time, they also had a few kids books, hot sauce, a comfy couch.

Loooove this coffee shop! Not only is their story and branding on point, but their food and drinks are just as good. The Ube Latte was probably my favorite Ube drink ever! It's also really cute and bright inside, perfect for catching up with friends or getting some work done!

I got the ube horchata which was super yummy, my bf got the matcha boba latte and unfortunately the boba seemed undercooked. it was slightly shriveled and chewy like gel not tapioca - not sure if that was intentional or not. ambiance was nice as there was bar seating and couch seating however it is a very small place so don't EXPECT there to be room to sit.

I visited this café hoping for authentic Vietnamese coffee, but was disappointed. Being Vietnamese myself, I really wanted to find a cafe that'd make me feel like home. I ordered a Viet coffee, but what I received was just plain & overpriced coffee. I'd rank it somewhat similar in quality to Panera's Sip Club coffee. Not to mention, it was surprisingly acidic--not typical for Viet coffee. It was a letdown, especially since I made a special trip just to try it. The owner was kind, though the barista seemed a bit rude--maybe just a long day. It was disappointing given I was the only customer in line + the cafe wasn't busy. The café itself has a nice vibe, with great lighting, upbeat (but not loud) music, and plenty of outlets. It's small, with only 5-6 tables and a bar, but good for working if you find a spot. While the coffee didn't hit the mark, I'm willing to give this place another try. It's obviously not the most authentic Vietnamese spot, but I'd like to explore more of the menu to see if something else can impress. I am intrigued by their fusion options (ie banh mi empanadas) - will update my review if I return.

I finally made it here after being curious for a couple of years, and I'm disappointed to share it's average. The ube latte is just poured from a huge premixed jug, and if you add a shot the drink comes out to $8.88... too sweet also. The interior is photogenic but cheaply constructed, and the baristas and cashier seem unhappy to be here.

AMAZING Vietnamese coffees. Their ube was to die for. Texture, creaminess, balance...everything is on point. Staff is really friendly, and she even let me try the ube despite me not ordering it! This seems like a good study spot, and I would absolutely come back again if I'm ever in the area.

3.5 I visited this coffee shop a couple years ago and remember having a positive experience, but unfortunately this visit fell short of my expectations. I liked the decor; it was open, bright, and clean. Our group tried the egg coffee and the coffee with sweetened condensed milk. I thought the coffee was not that flavorful and the consistency was thinner than I would like. Maybe it was a one-off, but I was hoping for stronger coffee.

Had the iced ube latte and highly recommend!! Service very friendly and helpful. Loved that they let dogs in.

I came in for a coffee on a warm day. There was a free table to sit at and soak up the air conditioning. I would say the flavor of this coffee does stack up to what I've had in Vietnam, and the prices were okay in terms of the area. The ambiance was nothing special, but if I'm in the west loop area and want some coffee I would come back here!

Get the egg coffee! The barista was incredibly helpful with my sweet tooth and hesitation to try anything new, and they hooked your girl up! Egg coffee with a dash of vanilla and I might change the way I drink coffee moving forward. I'm still drooling! The shop is great for a quiet place to work or gather with a few friends. Cute, local spot. I wanted to gate keep, but just can't!

First time here. This was right around the corner from our hotel. When we are out of town we like to support small businesses. Vietfive Coffee is such a cute coffee place. Love the decor and the service. The coffee is really tasty and definitely put a pep in my step. Thank you Vietfive Coffee for great coffee and service. Will definitely come back when I visit again.

I love the Asian inspired flavors. Coffee is so good and I love adding the ube. Will say it is very sweet, so if you like your coffee stronger and a little less sweet, def ask them to go light on that. The food options looked great, will have to try on my next visit!

very cute spot and nice ambiance! the workers were super nice and attentive the drinks were pretty good! i loved the coffee and mangosteen refresher. i did think the egg foam was a bit too sweet for me which was a bummer. the food was a bit disappointing. the empanada was a bit stale and dry. the banh mi was good maybe a bit salty, but overpriced so i would rather go somewhere else.

The best staff and cutest place! I tried an iced ube horchata drink with coffee. This was 10/10. The ube and horchata mix so well together! Had to get a mochi donut (matcha with crispies) sooo good!

The drinks are really good, but I think the food is only okay. Confused why the Banh mi had red and green peppers. The empanada had really small chunks of meat so everything kept falling out and it was so dry

So I have been here a few times already and I gotta say, I love it. The first time I came here was in the morning during a bike ride with my friend to try their ube latte (which was very tasty), but we noticed they had banh mi and at first I was a little hesitant having something like that in the morning....but ultimately decided to try it. Man, it has been a while since i tasted something soooo fresh and full of flavor. That sandwich is literally a work of art. I told my partner about it and was super excited for her to also try. When I came back a second time with her, she also loved it! I initially wanted to go for the latte's but now im staying for their banh mi's. The intricate combination of their veggies, meat, and mayo gives life to something pretty great. I highly encourage to try something new and check this place out!

Cute place, often full, love the uniqueness and creaminess of the iced ube latte. Their lavender latte is unique too, not sure how to put my finger on it, but I'm happy to support this business. Always bop by after my EWC appointments, glad it's right there.

Just a quick walk from my place, I will deff be visiting this spot often. The coffee is strong. For those mornings you need a little extra pep in your step, this is perfect. I've only had the number 1, coffee and condensed milk. It comes prebatched and gets poured over ice. It's got a strong coffee flavor that's balanced by the condensed milk. Not overly sweet, as you'd expect with condensed milk. The team here are great. Everyone's been super nice and high energy. Good spot to work remotely too, with some tables to setup shop at for a few hours and get some work done. Can't wait to try some of the baked goods.

This cafe in west loop has the best Veggie Bahn Mi and Vietnamese coffee. My fiance and I have stopped here a bunch of times and the first time we came we ordered the Bahn mi on a whim. It was the perfect mix of textures and flavor. The people that own and work here are so kind as well and the decor is very aesthetic. Would come here everyday if I can

I really enjoyed my visit to VietFive. The coffee exceeded my expectations. If you don't like your coffee too sweet you can ask for adjustments. The vibe is really cute and it is a great place to meet friends and catch up. I thought the service could be better but I also came in at a busy time so the barista did not have a lot of patience. Definitely will be back!

Love to support a vietnamese business. If you're looking for a true Vietnamese cafe experience, this is it but without the cigarette smell of coffee shops in Vietnam. Service is slow / ppl are chilling and it takes a minute to get your order (bad for me when I double park and run in and it's always a wait). I've never had any other drink besides the #1 iced coffee with condensed milk bc why mess with a good thing? The banh mi empanadas are super delicious and crispy. Just knocking off a star for their slow (but authentic) service and how pricey it is.

I'm new to Chicago and wanted to try the banh mi and drinks here. The ube latte was very sweet and had artificial flavoring; okay if you have a sweet tooth. Vietnamese coffee was decent, but not sure I would get it again. The banh mi took a very long time to make, 20 minutes at least, for a cold cut sandwich.. The pickled vegetables are good but there is very little meat and seemed like there was fish sauce drizzled into it for some reason. I don't recommend it and I hear there are numerous other places in town for more legit banh mi. I also got a donut but it was stale. Fair, because it was the second half of the day. But wasted my 5 dollars. Overall, I don't plan on coming here again especially at their price point.

The only thing I'd change about VietFive is to have it open another location closer to my house, though it's probably a good thing that I am not nearby everyday because I'd stop in way too frequently! They have a fantastic selection of Vietnamese coffee drinks and this is one of my favorite places to stop in to cool off in the summer or warm up in the winter and grab an ube latte - it's a spectacular purple drink with just a hint of sweetness and enough caffeine to give you the kick start you need to carry on the rest of the day. The staff are always friendly and knowledgeable and make you feel welcome.

I love the food and the vibe. Dion and Nia are knowledgeable, customer service oriented, and all-around wonderful people. It's a pleasure to come in and spend a little time eating and caffeinating here.

We stopped by twice during our weekend visit to Chicago! I knew the coffee was going to be delicious but what I wasn't expecting was how good the banh mi was! This place is definitely worth the stop.

This cafe is so cute and I was super excited to try the egg coffee! This drink was pretty different from the traditional egg coffee I had in Vietnam. Instead of a thick custardy layer on top of an espresso shot, this drink seemed to have a thin foamy layer of egg on top of either an Americano or drip coffee. Every part of this drink tasted high quality and rich, but it just wasn't as authentic as I had wished for.

I literally read about this place on Friday and went over to get an Ube 'latte' yesterday. Now I really like Ube, Black Sesame, Red Bean, and Matcha flavors and in the summer I seek out soft serve where these flavors are available. That said this drink definitely has Ube and it tasted like Ube along with its other ingredients - coconut and oat milk. However, for $9, it significantly fell short for me as an Ube 'latte'. For starters there is no espresso in this drink (or an espresso machine) and I don't know if that's almost a prerequisite of a latte to have a shot or two of espresso? They use drip coffee instead and it just doesn't do it. It ended up being too milky with a hint of coffee flavor. Now with espresso it may be a solid latte.

I tried the Vietnamese iced coffee with condensed milk as well as the iced Ube latte with coffee. Both were tasty but I particularly enjoyed the Vietnamese iced coffee as it had a very strong fragrant coffee flavor and was sweetened but not too sweet. The iced ube latte also has a nice taste (sort of coconutty in my opinion), but is on the sweeter side. Really nice laid back environment with friendly staff and customers. There is a cute mini mart section selling snacks and drinks as well.

I had been really wanting to try this place even though I'm not often in the area. The banh mi looked amazing and I love the idea of not driving all the way to Argyle. It's cute decor, Vietnamese music playing overhead and amazingly friendly staff. Prices are high (West Loop rents I expect), but the sandwich size was large. The coffee was fine, but we wouldn't order it again - mostly because we have Vietnamese robusta at home and $6 for a small is pricey. They do batch their iced drinks which I don't love, but it's not what we really came for. Our sandwiches were hearty, but unfortunately didn't taste very authentic to me (I am Vietnamese and actually had a banh mi in Little Saigon last week). Lots of mayo, no pate that I could taste and the meat was a little bland. The cha lua was sliced very thin and again, not very flavorful. Heavy hand on the vinegar. I was disappointed, but I get this may be the Americanized version for the Midwest. We won't go out of our way for it, but I wish them much success.

I'm a sucker for trying new things and I've never had Vietnamese coffee before. For someone who hates coffee but has to drink it in order to survive at work, the coffee here was pretty decent. Definitely something different but in a good way. I read that vietnamese coffee is stronger and more bitter. It definitely was more bitter than I was hoping. I went for the classic iced coffee with condensed milk. I just added splenda to it and it tasted better for me (I prefer more sweet coffee). I want to try their ube latte next time! The inside is decorated so nicely! Even the owner was there. They have a section where they sell merch, a seating area, and a mini bodega with asian goods. They have pastries - both savory and sweet. I bought 2 savory items which were both delicious! My fav was the ground beef banh pate so.

I really enjoyed the ube latte and savory pastries here. Also the mochi doughnuts are good. But as a Vietnamese person, I was disappointed in the coffee with condensed milk. It's not a good representation of what Vietnamese coffee really is. Tasted like pretty weak coffee with a hint of chicory and a little condensed milk. Real Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk is way better and you can get that at almost any Vietnamese restaurant in uptown. I was hoping that this place had one similar so I don't have to drive all the way up there to get one. Hope they can work on it as I love supporting Vietnamese businesses.
