My first impression that this is going to be a mom and pops Italian style restaurant. They have the basic amenities of any other regular restaurant. So, being that it was my first time there I didn't dress for the occasion.
Located in the heart of Metairie, LA, this restaurant is tucked away behind a business, but seems to be a popular spot in the area for Italian food. Upon arrival in the parking lot, the owner started with " May I help you?" in a manner, that subtly implied, as if I were lost. We continued in and the host/owner followed us in and then abrasively asked me to remove my hat before entering the restaurant. I removed the hat as he requested. Personally, I wish he would've explained that this was the custom of this restaurant so it wouldn't have felt somewhat offended by his snarky approach. I understand the custom of removing your hat in any building. So it want so much what he said as much as how it was said.
However, there was a short wait due for the popularity and the line. The young man came and plays down the menus and advised us that he was coming back. He never introduced himself to our table until we had to request that he will provide us with some water while we waited. Upon return, he offered someone and asked us if you want any other beverages. I advised him that he never provided us with his name that this would be a good start. He's chuckled and gave us his name. We asked for recommendations, and he suggested the spaghetti and meatballs. My buddy order the veal cutlet over Angel hair spaghetti. When I got the food and tried it, I realized that it wasn't as good as they made it out to be. It seemed very and lacked basic flavors like salt and pepper. Seems like they drowned in more in basil than anything.
Nevertheless, the overall experience was alright. I don't think I'd try this place again as it was too small for me
and I felt claustrophobic while sitting at our table. I'm not a very tall (5'10) or huskier man (190lbs) so there should've been a little more room. but even the seats from one table to the next were literally back to back touching one another. My suggestion if you try, it would be that you go when nobody is really there so you can have sitting room and it isn't too loud or overcrowded.
