Vintage Rock Club Touches Down in New Orleans’ CBD This Weekend - Eater New Orleans

"A new event space and bar (on weekends only) arrives in the CBD on Saturday (October 27), as Vintage Rock Club opens in what used to be the Rampart Room event space above Poydras Street. Vintage Rock Club aspires to be a high-end club experience — it has a hefty five VIP lounges complete with table service, and plenty of gold accents, from its mirrored bar to gilded Rio Crocodillo wallpapering. Located above sports bar Walk On’s, the venue is billing itself as a “multimedia experience” — beyond the club and bar accoutrements, there’s a 185-inch video wall, and a bunch of large TVs, which will lean into nostalgia with music videos and footage from historic rock concerts." - Tim Forster

Celebrated our wedding here. It was incredible. The service was beyond amazing, especially Brad. All of the guest were so impressed with the layout, food, and atmosphere. The views and the pictures we took were perfect. 100% recommend for anyone looking to celebrate a unique wedding.

Google
1000/10 recommend VRC to celebrate your birthday or any special occasion! 🎉 The atmosphere was electric, and the music kept us dancing all night long! 💃🏼🕺🏼 Huge thanks to Brad for setting us up—the private sections were a total hit with my guests! 🙌 No fighting through crowds to get a drink. Ordering straight from our amazing servers, Rachel and Haley, made everything so easy. They were on top of it all night, making sure we had everything we needed. 🍹 If you’re looking for a fun, stress-free night out, VRC is it! 🔥

Was there for a Birthday/Bridal party. This place is very nice with cool murals of famous rock stars along and a giant screen showing old 80’s videos!! The music was great! Even the bathrooms were so big, nice and super clean. Service for our private party was excellent! The only negative is that they need to lower the temperature if they want people to stay on the dance floor. After dancing a couple of dances, we were all so hot and sweating, we had to stop dancing to go sit down and hold our hair up to cool off. I definitely would had danced more if it was colder in there. Otherwise loved it!

Google
Vintage Rock Club is THE best club in the city of New Orleans. Outstanding Service, outstanding atmosphere, and all around a great spot. Super clean. The security and employees are friendly and professional. Next time you’re planning on going out with friends, buy a section here and you’ll have a blast! 5 stars across the board 🫱🏼‍🫲🏻

Google
We hosted a happy hour for a work event, and it was AMAZING! I seriously can't say enough about the fun atmosphere, the delicious food, and the topnotch service! We can't wait to be back in New Orleans to have another event at the Vintage Rock Club!

Google
Was there for a work event? And it was great music and good drinks. And the food was pretty darn good, would definitely go back on my own dime.

Google
Vintage Rock Club in NOLA is an awesome, retro-themed bar with great music videos from the ’60s to the ’90s. It’s perfect if you’re into classic rock, dancing, and a laid-back crowd. Great vibe for a night out!

Google
This is my go to place every weekend. I absolutely love it here. Great music, great atmosphere, and great service. I’ve made friends with most of the staff over time, especially my man Brad. Thanks for helping make my birthday this past weekend so memorable! You da man big dog! 🤘🏻

Yelp
I didn't know about this hidden gem until I had my bachelorette party here earlier this month. My girls and I got the VIP package, and man was it amazing. Let's just say we're over 30, so having an entire couch to sit on when our feet got tired was of primary importance. The entire VIP section was roped off, so we (mostly) didn't have to deal with creepers and we received bottle service! The music was an absolute dream. One of my girls requested Lizzo, and the DJ told her that's too modern, and I'm not mad at him!! To top off the awesome hits, the original music videos play on a wall-sized screen. It really adds context to those oldies!! All in all a fantastic night!! Everyone in my party raved about Vintage Rock Club and I will be back!! I just read a few other reviews today and not for nothing; there is a very specific dress code on their website. My krewe was prepared!

Yelp
To be honest, I never even knew this place existed until I walked up to the fun purple lights outside on a Friday night. You go up a set of dark stairs and enter a big room full of couches and a long bar. My friends and I had a couch/lounge area and felt like true VIPs! The party doesn't start until 10:30pm or after. So, when we arrived at 9:45 and it was mostly empty, I didn't have high hopes for a fun night. My friends and I felt awkward for a while until more groups arrived. Once people started crowding in (a LOT of bachelorette parties), it became more fun. My biggest surprise was the drinks they did NOT offer. I asked for an espresso martini - couldn't make it. A chocolate martini - couldn't do that either. A Moscow mule - also no! For a place that only offers alcohol, they couldn't make something as basic as a Moscow mule! So don't come expecting a fancy drink or relatively common cocktail because you won't get one. Overall, the place becomes more fun the later you're there and the more people you're with (and more you drink of course!). I loved the music and videos - a very cool idea and theme!

Yelp
Love the 80s music. The "club" is fit into a restaurant above Walk-Ons. It's small as are the brains of the management who when using a parking app to extend my time stopped me to move us when no one was around. Drinks are super pricy and for that I expect service. There are better and more fun clubs.

Yelp
If I can rate this spot 0 I would super racists. We came there an hour earlier and then we came back And they wouldn't let our friend in cause he had on shorts and Kenzo shirt.... And I have the proof that if any one wants it. Like cmon... and I was called out of my name I have videos of anyone wants proof... I'm tired of places like this and if you think I'm lying go look at the other 1 star comments

Yelp
I give every place the benefit of the doubt. But I will not tolerate discrimination when it happens.

Yelp
Came here for my friend's bachelorette and we had a blast dancing and singing along to songs I hadn't heard in years! Very fun & festive place, would love to come back in warm weather and enjoy the balcony too. The crowd was in good spirits, with everyone dancing. Good place for parties

Yelp
We came here for my friend's bachelorette party and had so much fun!! We had a VIP section with bottle service. The music was great, and music videos on the big screen made it extra fun! The drinks were delicious, the staff was attentive, and we all felt safe.

Yelp
Went here for a private event and once the private event time frame was over security walked around telling multiple guests in the party group they had to leave because they weren't wearing a collared shirt. It was a costume event, celebrating someones engagement. The bride was not made aware that people would be asked to leave if they weren't in this specific attire. Very rude and inconsiderate especially after you pay so much money for a private event somewhere.

Yelp
The vintage music videos makes this place a lot of fun! The space is nice and the large balcony is great. Lost of space and covid protocols in place. Definitely a fun spot to watch old music videos and dance!! Enjoy!

Yelp
I found Vintage Rock Club as a potential event space for our National Sales Kick off meeting. Our team was about 70 people and the space, music and environment was perfect for what we needed after a long week of workshops. DJ Tony - amazing, Victoria - organized host and helped make our event perfect and the bar team was phenomenal. They even let us bring our cornhole sets in to play, drink and enjoy the music. Our team definitely would recommend! - Elizabeth C. Bosch

Yelp
Love the music and videos played so much. Security is getting out of hand. Very rude, impatient, and not wanting to hear any type of explanation. I have had multiple issues on different nights with security. I have never been treated so poorly at a bar multiple times before. I have taken up for this place for a while, but I am over it. A bar is where people go to relax and enjoy their time, not to walk on eggshells and be afraid of their every move. If you read past reviews, the one stars are mostly about security. Yikes.

Yelp
Amazing spot to dance, drink and get the best throw backs. Will be coming back very soon!

caroline a.

Yelp
Literally zero stars if I could. I was kicked out for picking up a fan because there was no AC. I paid for VIP and was sweating sitting down. One of our VIP members picked up a fan and five security guards came to scream at us for picking up the fan and manhandled a 21 100 pound girl and dragged her to the stairs. We were kicked out and told not to come back. NEVER will they receive our business. Ridiculous for getting treating like this for VIP members.

Yelp
I always have the best time at VRC!! It's my favorite place in town to go have drinks and dance to fun throwback music! And everyone that works there is really nice

Karl R.

Yelp
Neither vintage nor rock was played during my visit to the vintage rock club. Bar was good, but the vip section was cheesy. 8/10
google avatar

Bailey M.

Yelp
As a new mom I don't get many nights out, so when I do I like to make them count. VRC was the perfect choice for a girls night out. Definitely spring for the table, it was so nice to be in the action but also have our own space. The table service was great and had nice touches like the color changing cups and light up Tito's! Good alcohol selection on the menu. Even though this visit I came with a group of girls, I could even have fun here with my husband or a group date. Highly recommend and will be back!

Yelp
Trashy service and needs to go out of business, sooner rather than later. As I was in line, the bouncer told me "Don't come in here with that bullshit. This is not a ghetto club." Specially to me... a black woman as I was handing him my ID. I thought this was a warning he gave to everyone since it was late on a Friday night. The bouncer gave me my ID back and I headed upstairs with my coworkers. I was last in line behind 5 of my white coworkers, and we made our way to the balcony. After looking around at the lounge area, which was off limits to those that had not purchased a sectioned area, I asked my coworkers did the bouncer make that comment to them and they all said no. So I instantly left after feeling racially discriminated. I would never waste my time or money here. Not sure what's the purpose of this establishment since they had LSU players broadcasted on the projectors as a slideshow with no music. There was no LSU game or highlight reel that night, just the players in their jerseys. Very weird.

Yelp
Heads-up: Keep in mind that this is a review for Vintage Rock Club as a private party rental space. Attended a 30th reunion here couple months before COVID shut everything down. You exit the street and leave the eclectic spirit of NOLA, which I love, behind to find a more streamlined, refined space, primarily one large room, with white couches grouped for socializing, a few bar-height tables, a bar against one wall, a silver-dish buffet (for this event) in the common area and a massive screen blasting fun, classic video hits - most versions were from concerts, recorded live -which led to the amped up vibe. The party lasted 3 hours and our group of 100 or so danced the night away! We hardly left the dance floor. We did return after grabbing a late night meal to find a much younger crowd (we're 40-45ish). Although fun if we had kept friends with us, the vibe did change and newer hits were playing. As for a night out, maybe keep this option open and in the mix. However, definitely consider them for your private party! Tons of fun memories!

Yelp
This review is for a private event I just had at the VRC. We had a corporate watch party Monday evening for the national college football championship game. The venue was perfect for our group. Everything was clean and the staff very friendly. The game was shown on half the screens with our company logo on the other half. We ordered catering and the food was very good. My team especially loved the steak skewers and the cuban sandwiches! Victoria was an excellent hostess and handled uninvited guests quickly and professionally. My group absolutely loved the event and it definitely exceeded my expectations.

Yelp
Victoria and her team provided the best service for our company Christmas party. They were wonderful with last minute additions and requests. Thanks for letting us have the Hot chocolate station!
google avatar

Matthew B.

Yelp
The owners from Walk-Ons should pay to have someone clean the toilets here. It's filthy.

Jamie G.

Yelp
We just recently held our 20-year high school reunion at VRC and had a wonderful time! Blair and Victoria were amazing to work with and extremely responsive. The team at VRC made the planning easy since it provides a turnkey party which is great as I didn't have to deal with booking a location and bartenders and caterers and dj, etc... they have it all ready to go! The group loved the service, food, drinks and dancing! Highly recomend them for any events!

Yelp
After dining at a local New Orleans restaurant across the street, a group of friends and I walked over to Vintage Night Club to grab a drink. This dance club rests above Walk On's restaurant on Poydras. Walking up the stairs and greeted by vintage decor, we knew we were in for a treat. The wooden floors and the white leather modern couches, gave the place the high end bar that it deserves. That being said, I'm having a difficult time paying $$$ for drinks that's aren't matching the swanky atmosphere. I was shocked that a vodka soda was almost $20. We had a blast dancing to music from the 60's to early 90's and watching music videos on the 185" music wall and TVs hung around the walls. I love that this bar is for all ages! Looking forward to bringing my parents by some day. Being that this bar is new, I'm hoping I can come back and review again in hopes for swankier specialized cocktails! All around fun place to dance the night away!

Olivia B.

Yelp
VRC is always a guaranteed good time. Great for large groups- the extremely long bar with multiple bartenders ensures very short (if any) wait time for drinks. Best music and always a fun atmosphere. Also very clean facility with very nice employees. We rented a table and we're amazed at the attentive service we received. Will definitely be back!!!

Lauren T.

Yelp
Had the best night here! The music and dance floor are super fun. Staff was very friendly. Can't wait to go back!

Marguerite R.

Yelp
One of the best places to dance the night away in New Orleans if you don't feel like going to the quarter. Perfect for late-night and big groups. As a 90's gal, the music videos make the experience so much fun!!

Christine L.

Yelp
You are always guaranteed a fun time when you go to VRC!! They play the best music and the service is great. It's always our go-to spot for a fun night and is in a great location!

Yelp
I was the third person in line for ONE HOUR and they would not let anyone inside because they were "at capacity" but continued to let groups of bachelorette parties and larger groups inside. Our group waited at the front of the queue for one hour. This isn't Vegas or Miami. It's New Orleans. Wait in the back of the line. I've always had a great time here but after last night I will not be going back. The bouncers were rude and disrespectful to the people waiting in line. It was absolutely ridiculous.

Reid D.

Yelp
Bouncers are on a power trip. Was nothing but completely calm the entire night and I was fiercely escorted out by one bouncer slapping a drink out of my hand and berating me.

Julie N.

Yelp
I have had a good time with my group of friends several times over the last six months. Great concept. My group met here after a nice dinner in early March, the management and waitress were extremely rude. I would have not stayed a minute had I not been waiting on others. Not sure I'll go back.

Stephanie M.

Yelp
We are locals and have been twice. Overpriced drinks, extraordinarily rude staff. We had a reserved area and were spending a good deal of money. This bar feels like it was opened by people from somewhere out of New Orleans with a very non-local vibe. Stay away.

Erika Y.

Yelp
Awesome place! We were there when the saints game gone out, watching the crowd come down the street from the balcony was amazing! The dj is the best

Melissa T.

Yelp
Was there last night with a group of 10. We were on the balcony minding our business, dancing and having fun. The manager was outside and said he smelled weed so a security guard came up and asked if we were smoking (we were not). He left and came back again and told us to stop smoking. He then came back a third time screaming and getting in our faces screaming "you think I'm fucking stupid?! I'm not a fucking dumbass!! I can smell the weed coming off of you!" Please mind you that every man we are with are active duty military members. Since when are people in the military allowed to smoke weed? We offered to show him our military id's and he proceeded to scream "I don't want to see shit!" We were standing ON A BALCONY in New Orleans on the weekend of an event going on downtown. Are you telling me that you don't think people walking by on the sidewalk underneath us could've been the ones smoking? Absolutely ridiculous. Lost the business 100's of dollars of locals who will also tell all their friends not to go there. My guess is this place will be closed by next year, don't waste your money at this joke of an establishment. They will also make you wait outside in line as a marketing strategy to get people passing by to want to come in. So unless you feel like waiting in like 45 minutes in line, paying a cover fee for no live music and getting screamed at by staff, don't go here.
