10 Top Hotel Bars in the World

"Located high above the city on the 39th floor, this elegant lounge fuses European Art Deco styling with Japanese omotenashi service, earning a reputation for impeccable hospitality and meticulously crafted cocktails that emphasize French Cognac alongside sake and shochu. The bar also produces housemade umeshu (some aged with brandy) used in creative highballs and Old Fashioned variations, while the food menu blends Japanese and European influences with items like wagyu sliders and lobster okonomiyaki." - Laura Itzkowitz

Tokyo’s Best Speakeasy Bars to Feel the Vibes

"World-acclaimed head bartender Keith Motsi grew up in the UK, where a well-established cocktail culture thrives. His witty conversations and the cool, entertaining atmosphere are loved by experienced bar-goers. “Takara” (meaning treasure in Japanese) is his take on a Manhattan, inspired by the Japanese fairy tale “Momotaro,” using French chartreuse and Japanese “Denki Bran,” an old-school Japanese cocktail mix created in Asakusa." - Kyoko Nakayama

21 Best Bars in Tokyo, from Hotel Lounges to a Tequila Speakeasy | Condé Nast Traveler

"This is a place that people get gussied up for, especially at night. The space is theatrical, with art deco-inspired fixtures and platform seating that provides ample opportunity for people-watching. Head barman Joshua Perez brings his early training in flavor science—at New York’s Booker and Dax—to bear in seasonal expressions such as the velvet-smooth Christmas eggnog spiked with Remy Martin 1738, or a summertime frozen margarita made with Lillet Blanc and fresh white peach. The signature Takara is a compelling blend of Japanese whisky, chartreuse and a brandy-like spirit called Denki Bran, which originated in Tokyo in 1893." - Melinda Joe

I recently spent an evening at this wonderful place after dinner, enjoying some time by myself while my wife worked in the room. Somehow, the staff figured out it was my birthday and surprised me with a cake, which made the night extra special. They also introduced me to some new cocktails featuring my favorite spirits, and each one was creative and delicious. The attention to detail and the personal touches really stood out. Definitely worth a visit! Also the view!!!!!

Hands down one of the best bars I’ve ever been to, cocktails were inventive, the service was superlative! We were staying in the property so got a table easily with a little bit of a wait on a Saturday night. Special call out to Ramesh as well as our server for making our final night in Tokyo wonderful- so much laughter, genuine conversation and fabulous drinks!

In November 2024, I had an opportunity to visit Virtù with a more than pleasant experience. It was magical based on my experience with high end bars. The 39th floor of the Four Seasons sets the tone perfectly for the experience one is to expect. The location, view, and experience was over the top for myself. I had the chance to visit with 2 of my closest friends from California without a reservation on a weekday evening. We were seated in the cozy upper level lounge seating. The view, lighting, and decor were enough to win me over. Carefully crafted cocktails, paired menu items, and the customer service experience all put the experience over the top of my expectations. Special thanks to head of operations Mr Keith Motsi, one of the lead bartenders Graham Kimura, and other staff for their attention to detail and great customer care. We were happy to learn that Graham has roots in our hometown area of San Jose, California. I highly recommend spending an evening opening or closing the night with the team at Virtù. I can’t wait to visit Virtù again soon. Also thanks to Jake Valianes for turning me on to Virtù

An absolute gem in Tokyo! Maria was incredible — she went above and beyond with thoughtful recommendations that made our visit extra special. The service was seamless, warm, and attentive. Food and cocktails were exceptional, beautifully crafted with such attention to detail. The ambiance is chic yet comfortable, making it perfect for both a relaxed evening and a special night out. We loved it so much we went twice during our trip, and would return in a heartbeat. Highly recommend Virtù if you’re in Tokyo!

We stayed at the Four Seasons, and on our first day, we said we’d go grab a drink at the bar. Little did we know, we’d end up coming back every single day of our stay. The food was great (don’t miss the tacos), the atmosphere was really nice, but above all were the incredible staff. This will probably go down as one of the most memorable bar experiences I’ve ever had—and will have, all because of the staff. Can’t finish this review without giving huge gratitude to Sakura, Gray, and Albie, you guys are the best. It wouldn’t have been the same without y’all, honestly. Oh, that photo’s getting a spot on the wall at home!

Atmosphere: 10/10 Located on the 39th floor of the Four Seasons Hotel in Otemachi, Virtù delivers serious wow factor. The interior is upscale and meticulously designed—everything from the furniture to the lighting feels premium. Backbar is visually impressive. Latin music plays at a pleasant volume, rounding out the high-end lounge vibe. Drinks: 9/10 Recommendation: Sakura Sazerac The cocktail menu is built around Geographical Inspirations, each drink paying homage to a specific region within Japan and featuring local spirits from that area. The menu is sophisticated and includes ABV percentages for each drink. Glassware is high quality, coasters are elegant, garnishes are creative and well-matched, and presentation is eye-catching. The one downside? Too many pre-mixed cocktails, which takes away from the live craft experience. Service: 9/10 Water was served on arrival. Complimentary snacks were included, though initially forgotten. The team was professional, friendly, and spoke fluent English. Prices are significantly above average for Tokyo—but fair for the level of service and quality. Virtù is currently ranked #11 on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2024 and #42 on the World’s 50 Best Bars 2024.

Virtù is a beautiful bar and Four Seasons definitely lives up to its reputation of providing stellar service, but it’s one of those where I was glad to have visited once and will probably never do so again. Drinks and food are expensive but that is to be expected. While they try their best for service, it is a little inconsistent as I received the wrong order twice. Food wise, I would say skip the Lobster Okonomiyaki but definitely order the sliders. The sliders were absolutely done to perfection and every bite was a dream. The tiramisu was great too. Overall, it’s worth a visit but there are way better cocktail bars in Tokyo with more of an authentic vibe and which doesn’t feel too touristy.

Stunning bar with amazing views of Tokyo from atop the Four Seasons. It was an honor to meet famed bartender Keith Mitsui, and can I say he is a leader that everyone should look up to. Kind, social, and above all, not shy of doing even the little things to make for the perfect experience. Also shout out to Maria for two amazing experiences. Thank you! Graham and McHayla, you also rock! Hope to see you again soon.
