10 Top Hotel Bars in the World

"Located high above the city on the 39th floor, this elegant lounge fuses European Art Deco styling with Japanese omotenashi service, earning a reputation for impeccable hospitality and meticulously crafted cocktails that emphasize French Cognac alongside sake and shochu. The bar also produces housemade umeshu (some aged with brandy) used in creative highballs and Old Fashioned variations, while the food menu blends Japanese and European influences with items like wagyu sliders and lobster okonomiyaki." - Laura Itzkowitz

Tokyo’s Best Speakeasy Bars to Feel the Vibes

"World-acclaimed head bartender Keith Motsi grew up in the UK, where a well-established cocktail culture thrives. His witty conversations and the cool, entertaining atmosphere are loved by experienced bar-goers. “Takara” (meaning treasure in Japanese) is his take on a Manhattan, inspired by the Japanese fairy tale “Momotaro,” using French chartreuse and Japanese “Denki Bran,” an old-school Japanese cocktail mix created in Asakusa." - Kyoko Nakayama

21 Best Bars in Tokyo, from Hotel Lounges to a Tequila Speakeasy | Condé Nast Traveler

"This is a place that people get gussied up for, especially at night. The space is theatrical, with art deco-inspired fixtures and platform seating that provides ample opportunity for people-watching. Head barman Joshua Perez brings his early training in flavor science—at New York’s Booker and Dax—to bear in seasonal expressions such as the velvet-smooth Christmas eggnog spiked with Remy Martin 1738, or a summertime frozen margarita made with Lillet Blanc and fresh white peach. The signature Takara is a compelling blend of Japanese whisky, chartreuse and a brandy-like spirit called Denki Bran, which originated in Tokyo in 1893." - Melinda Joe

By Asian standards, this is a solid Italian restaurant. The pizza rates 8/10 by Italian standards, and a full 10/10 when measured against the Asian market. The pasta dishes are 6/10 compared to authentic Italian benchmarks. The meat options are very good and clearly stand out on the menu. The breakfast buffet is generous, however, we found the à la carte options more convincing in terms of quality and presentation. Service levels tend to vary depending on the restaurant’s occupancy. The restaurant is very popular, and even hotel guests may need to wait for a table when dining spontaneously. Advance reservations are strongly recommended. The staff are consistently friendly and welcoming, although the overall service level was not always uniform. A particular highlight is the beautiful sun terrace, offering stunning panoramic views over Tokyo.

Google
Virtu definitely showed why they're ranked 18 on Asia's top best bars. From the moment I walked in, every staff member were friendly and inviting. They curated a great experience for a first timer. I had ordered 2 drinks, their negroni and sakura sazerac, both of which were excellently crafted, easy to sip. The views from the 39th floor were just breathtaking and had a clear view of the Tokyo Skytree. The recommended tiramisu also paired well with my drinks. Loved all the complimentary snacks provided. The service was impeccable- my server, Maria, was warm, attentive, professional, and genuinely elevated the entire experience! Her attention to detail and hospitality were exactly what you'd expect from the Four Seasons. Overall, beautiful experience and I'm already planning a return visit with my friends. :)

Service at Virtù Bar was exceptional. I did not manage to catch everyone’s name, but from the maître d’ to the bartenders, including Daiju, Kyoka and Ramesh who primarily served me, the team delivered an outstanding level of hospitality with a personal touch. Really enjoyed my time at Virtù, especially with Kyoka & Ramesh making special off the menu drinks to meet my flavour palette. The bartenders were attentive and knowledgeable, taking time to explain each drink and offering thoughtful recommendations that matched my preferences perfectly. Every cocktail was balanced, refined, and beautifully presented. The setting was elegant and calm, complemented by a stunning view of Tokyo’s skyline that enhanced the overall atmosphere. I cannot fault the service, the craftsmanship, or the quality of the drinks. A memorable experience that I look forward to repeating.

We were out in Ginza in the late afternoon and wanted some cocktails and snacks, and chose Virtù, one of the top 50 bars in the world, high above the city in the Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo. It pairs floor-to-ceiling window views over eastern Tokyo and the Tokyo Skytree with a room of Art Deco flourishes. The cocktails were so good, we had a second one. And the snacks were delicious, especially the scallops.

Google
One of my absolute favorite bars in Tokyo and an absolute must visit for every trip. The drinks are absolutely incredible and they also offer a nice food menu in case you’re hungry. I’ve been several times now, and have been lucky enough to have Albie and Kyoka behind the bar- the two of them are absolutely incredible mixologists and offer top notch service. I will be back every time I visit the area, and I highly recommend you ask for Albie and Kyoka if/when you visit, they made the whole experience and it wouldn’t have been the same without them:

Our favorite bar in the world. Easily the most beautiful and as frequent Four Seasons visitors around the world, fully knowing they usually have the best bars you’ll find, this is no exception and on another level. The menu is amazing, the bartenders incredible and friendly as you’d come to expect with a four seasons, Graham being a standout for us. Also they have the best Tiramisu we’ve ever had, and that was insane up until Japan just recently beat Italy on top of France in another food competition. All I’m saying is that if you want the most amazing cocktail experience of your life, come here.

Google
I had it on my list to visit this bar, as I’ve been working through visiting the top 50 bars in the world and this is one of them. I went on a Sunday and thought it might be hard to get in with no reservation. I was able to get a table within 10 minutes of talking to the hostess (it was a party of 1) and the ambiance of this place was absolutely phenomenal! The service was impeccable, truly above and beyond. I had someone checking in regularly, providing recommendations for other places to visit while I’m in town (even wrote it down), and the music was just right for the location. I thoroughly enjoyed my first drink, which was the Yuzi Nagi, and my other two drinks were pretty but not great. I felt the same about the food I ordered. This is the ONLY thing that gave this establishment a 4 instead of a 5. If I could give a 4.5, I would’ve. I still would highly recommend.

Google
Fabulous bar on I think the 39th floor in the Four Seasons Hotel. Cocktails were fantastic ! Delightful flavors and not eye watering strong like some places. View is amazing. Service was great and each cocktail was explained. Yummy bar snacks too. Treat yourself to this experience. I went here on a Tues night and was surprised to find it pretty full. Cool vibe and classy decor. Train station right underneath the building.
