The Best New Brunches in Nashville, Fall-Winter 2024

"A drive out to Nolensville brings more than just bucolic views and barbecue: One Southern restaurant that has been making waves in the city’s culinary scene with its spins on meat-and-three dishes for lunch and dinner is now whipping up weekend brunch. Wabash Southern Kitchen, which comes from brothers Taylor and Rankin Clinton, offers a choice between a “thangs and such” smaller bites menu, featuring beignets, biscuits, cinnamon rolls and a breakfast poutine, or a heartier “bigger thangs” menu that includes egg bowls and breakfast burritos. In partnership with Music City Coffee Club, Wabash will also be serving coffee, including a specialty New Orleans-style blend. Grab a plate on weekends from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m." - Kellie Walton

Their homemade food is simply delicious! We really enjoy their Cheeseburgers, Mac & Cheese and their Meatloaf Burger, which is incredible! Prices are incredibly reasonable (I’d be willing to pay more, but pls don’t tell them that! ;-) Staff is friendly and helpful as well. Next time you’re in Nolensville, do yourself a favor and stop here for lunch or dinner

Google
I don’t know how they do it; but Wabash kitchen not only has INCREDIBLE homemade food but it’s all at extremely affordable prices. So many places say they have “hand battered fried chicken” and it comes out looking like it was frozen. Look at the picture attached to this review. THAT is TRUE hand battered and fried chicken. It was absolutely phenomenal. Crispy and crunchy yet so tender inside. Condiments were phenomenal yet the chicken didn’t even need them. Fries were crunchy and tasted great. The menu has a ton of options. Several Meat & 2/3 or fried chicken basket options if you are hungry. They also have smaller portion meals that are all less than $10. Yes, you could have a homemade southern food meal that is CHEAPER than fast food!!! AND tastes better!! It’s not the fanciest place or anything like that…. But Wabash Southern Kitchen offers a dining experience that Nashville needs more of. Affordable and great tasting food. I will absolutely be back to try more of this menu and I’ll continue to sing its praises!!

You HAVE TO try this place!!!! Small town charm… The food and service are outstanding, and the coffee bar is awesome!!! Cinnamon rolls are the best and beat all competitors around!! You won’t regret!!!

Google
An incredible take on classic southern dishes! The staff is super kind, we had a great time. We loved the country fried chicken and the meatloaf. Can’t recommend this place enough

Google
This little gem is the BEST food in Nolensville. It's all homemade with love. The hush puppies and tartar sauce are fantastic and I'm a FL guy. The home made chips are to die for. The service was so incredible and helpful and kind.

We visited Wabash Southern Kitchen for the first time this evening! It was great! Delicious Southern food choices! One of the owners said they cook like they had when they grew up. I loved hearing that. We tried Meatloaf, fresh mashed potatoes, coleslaw, corn on the cob between us both. It was i much food! We could easily have shared one order. They make fresh huge sourdough dinner rolls. Amazing!! So soft & yummy!! We got a slice of lemon i box pie to go. Everything was delicious!! Their service was great! Everyone was so friendly & ready to help. They were fast. Dining room was spotless. Parking is open out front. Location is easy to find. We will come again!!

Google
Holy cow, yum!! We’d been hearing that the queso and homemade chips were good, they are! We had the catfish, Mac and cheese and collard greens. Everything was so flavorful. I’d recommend Wabash to meat + three lovers who want a laid back atmosphere and lots of flavor. When they ask if you want rolls, just say yes.

Google
Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection with very generous portions. It’s southern food at its finest: food made from scratch with fresh ingredients. There were so many great options on the menu it was hard to choose! Loved seeing lighter option like salads and cauliflower rice bowls in addition to the traditional meat and two. Truly something for everyone. Already excited for my next visit!

Yelp
Perfect spot for lunch on a Friday. Healthy options which i appreciated. First thing I noticed was how low the prices were. Young woman working front desk taking orders and cleaning tables was very friendly.

Yelp
Our kitchen remodel was taking longer than expected, so we had an unexpected need to eat out one night last week. We weren't in the mood for our usual ethnic choices, so we decided to try this local Meat and 3. It wasn't very crowded in mid week at 8 p.m., and we hope that changes; this place needs customers so it can thrive! The service was friendly; it's an "order at the counter" type of place. I ordered meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, Mac and cheese, and collard greens. She had chicken salad with tomato/cucumber salad and fried okra. The food came pretty quickly; fairly large portions. The meatloaf was first rate with an excellent ratio of beef to minced veggies; the mashed potatoes were perfect for dipping pieces of the meatloaf in, and the Mac and cheese was delish. The greens were tender and tasty; a shot of hot sauce really livened them up. The chicken salad was full of tender juicy pulled chicken; it was truly first rate. The fried okra was the best either of us ever had; crispy, grease free, and well seasoned. Drinks were self-serve, and they offered some zero on the fountain, so we were happy. A big dinner for two, with leftovers, was $30 plus tip. Highly recommended for a home style meal in Nolensville!

Yelp
Finally got to try Wabash out and we really enjoyed it. The food was very good. We both got the Chicken fried chicken. We got one Nashville hot and one regular. Both were very enjoyable. The coconut cream pie was also a big hit. I will definitely be going back and giving something else on the menu a try.

Yelp
Great little diner! Nice menu, great sides, solid prices. Super kid friendly. Feels just like a meat and three should, with a few extra foodie-friendly details, like different tea options, curry ketchup, etc. Chicken salad and tenders were both great. Servers were solid. Great addition to Nolensville meal options. (And try the French silk pie!!)

Yelp
A great little diner in the heart of Nolensville. Skip the chain restaurants and give this locally owned find a visit. I've had lunch there several times and it has never disappointed. Super nice staff, fast service, great value and fantastic food. I had the Farmhouse Bowl and it was great. As a southerner I appreciate their sweet tea as well. Stop by and enjoy some home cooking!

Yelp
This place has went through a couple name changes and management changes, however without a doubt they have definitely maintained the southern cooking culture throughout the transition to Wabash. We love their chicken tenders and fried catfish paired with a variety of delicious southern side dishes. They recently added a brunch menu we can't wait to try!

Yelp
I went here for the first time today and it was delicious. I highly recommend checking out the brunch menu: beignets, fresh homemade fried chicken and biscuits, yum. if they only had a location in Brentwood and Nashville, I'd be there weekly for espresso and a quick bite For breakfast or lunch.

Yelp
All things were great. Food was outstanding! We had brunch including the Poutine with sausage gravy. Yummy! Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Had the chicken fried chicken with gravy, mashed potatoes with gravy, and fried okra. Washed it down with sweet tea. The chicken was very chrispy outer and moist insides but for me had way to much fat inside. Lots of yellow streaks of fat. Potatoes with gravy was good tasting. The fried okra was spot on and very crispy which I love. It was an ok tasting meals. Hoping other choices will be better in the future.

Yelp
This place feels like mommas cooking in a clean, modern, fun setting. Incredible depth on the menu and they take classic dishes to a new creative level. The team behind the place cares a lot about their customers. Will come back soon!

Yelp
If I lived closer I would probably be there once a week! I had an item off the interesting brunch menu, which was good, and an order of hush puppies which were incredible. The mimosa in a jelly jar was a nice touch! The location is right in the walkable, boutique retail area of Nolensville. Go for a fun afternoon! Wabash currently asks you to order at the counter, but I would suggest that they allow table ordering also. I think it would make for a better experience to have a choice. Great job Wabash!

Yelp
Love this place! They seem to listen to reviews and constructive criticism. The menu is different from when they first opened. The food is great and now it is more reasonably priced. Everybody is always very nice and welcoming.

Yelp
I had actually heard mixed reviews that kept me away from Wabash. Sunday afternoon we decided to give it a go and I'm glad we did. We started with Pimento cheese and chips. Really enjoyed this and the seasoned chips made the dish! I ordered the Hot Chicken tenders, Mac and cheese and potato salad. The heat on the chicken was nice and it was tender. Mac and cheese and potato salad were good. The wife had fried chicken livers, fries. They were served with a hot honey tea sauce for dipping. Everything was tasty! Wabash also boasted spicy ketchup and curry ketchup. They had me at the curry ketchup. Sweet tea was on point and they offered peach tea and raspberry tea too. We will be back. Tons of things on the menu to fit any craving!

Yelp
As a new business it's always good to get honest feedback. The positives: I'll start out by saying the concept and atmosphere were great! Customer service: warm, friendly, attentive and fast. Cleanliness: on point Menu: excellent assortment of options for the whole family. Not overwhelming. Areas of improvement: Menu is advertised as homemade; however the quality did not match up with the expectation. The food looked delicious but was very bland. Some of our items also felt like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for a bit. Example, the Mac and cheese was dry. We also tried the hush puppies and they either needed additional seasoning or should be paired with a dipping sauce to round out the flavor. Overall our experience was good. With just a few minor tweaks, this is a place we could see bringing the family to regularly. Good luck, we really do hope you all the success.

Jason S.

Yelp
Now I know why I couldn't have a choice of how I want my eggs cooked: they cook the scrambled eggs ahead of time and just let them sit under a warmer. Mine came out dry and overcooked. Same thing with the sausage. Pretty disappointing. However, the other two items were OK. Probably won't be back.

Yelp
This place is a super cute family owned cafe. The service is great and it's very clean. The food was good both in portion size and price. The dessert was delicious. Will be back for sure!
google avatar

Emma L.

Yelp
I would pay $100 for the sourdough roll. Holy cow. We both got fried chicken and it was fantastic!!! The sides were not great though :( Mac n cheese was dry and lacked flavor, and potato salad, greens, and coke slaw also just wasn't great. We are absolutely coming again to get the bread and also try different sides!
google avatar

Andrew B.

Yelp
Excellent food with a unique combination of classic southern and healthy options! The atmosphere is really cool too. Very kind and attentive staff!

Teresa C.

Yelp
Delicious meat and two options, particularly the catfish and hush puppies. Seasoned well

Benita L.

Yelp
First time going there yesterday morning and the food didn't disappoint. I like also that they are selling mimosas and wine now. Owner was super nice and very friendly. We talked about him hosting some wine events, and other things to get people in there. We will definitely go back! The servers and cashiers were also great! So nice to see so many young people working and being so respectful! Thank you all!!!

Charlotte W.

Yelp
Delicious southern food with some great contemporary touches like the protein bowl. I dream about the sourdough rolls. Love that it's a family owned establishment and the service is nice and you can tell they take a lot of pride in what they do. 10/10 Will Wabash again!

Yelp
This was my first stop in this great diner in Nolensville. The place was all decked out for Christmas which I truly loved. The service was great and the food came out fast. I had the protein bowl and it was fantastic. They had some of the best sweet tea I've had since I moved here from Georgia. Give this locally owned business a try - you won't be disappointed. I had a great conversation with a veteran while I was there as well as some other customers - very friendly place!
google avatar

Kristin M.

Yelp
The best meatloaf of my life! The fried chicken is huge, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. Don't miss out on the hush puppies.

Nicki N.

Yelp
Smoked Protein Bowl !! if you like cauliflower, this dish is for you. And if you like meat, this dish is for you. HANDS DOWN the BEST sausage I've ever had and possibly the best smoked pulled pork I've ever had!!! Portion was perfect for the amount of flavor packed in this bowl. Definitely will be back for more!
google avatar

Chris R.

Yelp
Did not like this place at all. I got the pulled pork bbq bowl...the Mac n cheese had to be Kraft. Actually, Kraft would have been a step up as the Mac was so dry! There was hardly any pork in the bowl. The peach tea tasted very much like chemicals. We will not return.
google avatar

Graham T.

Yelp
If you like your protein bowls, get them at Wabash. This southern-style eatery isn't a bad pick, but the menu is limited and the food takes a little while to come out. The inside is kept clean and I like the colorful walls. Overall not outstanding, but not terrible either.

James S.

Yelp
Incredible service and food--a must-visit restaurant if you are in the area. Great portion sizes and they mix the menu up pretty regularly with the seasons.

Yelp
My family's favorite spot in Nolensville. We try to go every Sunday! Incredible southern classics that remind me of grandma's home cooking. Can't wait to get through the whole menu. We love the family story and veteran ownership behind Wabash.

Erin F.

Yelp
We had their wings and catfish. Both were very delicious. I liked their variety of sweet tea options. The workers and owner was very nice. Very nice experience overall!

Shanan O.

Yelp
Had a great meal here during our last trip to Nashville. Service was impeccable and the food was delicious. My favorites were the Nashville hot chicken and the lemon pepper wings. We will be back!

Madeline W.

Yelp
Highly recommend. Attentive and upbeat staff, ACTUAL sweet tea, very clean. Do yourself a favor and get any dish with the hot chicken. Wabash is hard to beat!

Yelp
Enjoyed this cute diner. Fast-casual vibes (ordered at the counter). The rolls were so fluffy and giant! Also enjoyed the hot chicken quinoa bowl

Lenore Y.

Yelp
This restaurant IS A WINNER!!!!!! The food is fresh with no additives, is perfectly prepared and tastes sooooooo good. I have eaten there several times and it NEVER disappoints. The service is true Southern hospitality, with prompt delivery and the cost per very generous portions is extremely reasonable. The feeling I get when eating there is family comfort complete with a friendly atmosphere and decor. I had the opportunity to have them cater a meal for a social event at Morningside II in Franklin. The group (67) applauded the food!!!! That has never happened before in my 9 years of being on this committee. Lenore Y.

Elliott D.

Yelp
Great food and service. Authentic southern food that is hard to find. The hot chicken bowl is a favorite and the rolls are something special.

Helena C.

Yelp
Really tasty spot for a sit down or quick meal. The sourdough roll was spot on perfect with butter and fried chicken plate was delicious. Staff was super friendly and facilities were clean. We've been here a couple times already and haven't been disappointed. Highly recommend.

John B.

Yelp
As others have mentioned the Sourdough Rolls are really good. My wife had the Hot Chicken Bowl which had the perfect amount of kick to them. I tried the Chicken Sandwich and seasoned fries. The chicken was cooked really well and not at all dry. The place is very kid friendly and the staff are extremely efficient and friendly.

Victoria G.

Yelp
Nice vibe. Fast casual for those who don't have a lot of time but want fresh food with healthy options reasonably priced. I enjoyed tasting the perfectly seasoned collard greens and cauliflower rice, generous sized delicious chicken tenders with tasty dipping sauce, tender grilled pork chop and yummy MacN Cheese. Nolensville gets the restaurant we wish we had in Brentwood/Franklin. Good for takeout on a busy night.

Diana N.

Yelp
We were excited that this restaurant opened because we really missed the previous restaurant that used to be there that had the same type of cuisine. Unfortunately we were very disappointed in the quality of the food. The green beans tasted like they came right out of the can, and the Mac & Cheese was mediocre at best. We will not be going back.

K D.

Yelp
I would give 3.5 stars if I could. There is so much potential and lots of good things to build upon. The restaurant itself is neat and clean, and the recently updated decor is much needed improvement. It has really freshened up the space for those of us who remember the previous restaurant that was in this space. We only tried 2 sandwich platters, a hushpuppy starter, and a dessert to share. All of the staff were friendly and helpful, with zero complaints. The self-serve fast casual concept is fine, and the menu is small but varied. The pimento cheese hushpuppies were dense and without flavor. The pimento cheese could not be tasted, and the hushpuppies were very heavy and dry. Those need to be rethought. My husband ordered a fried catfish sandwich and fries, and I got the pulled pork sandwich with mac and cheese. Our server brought my husband a chicken sandwich, which looked delicious but was not what he ordered. Two Comments: they removed the sandwich and brought him the fries....which were cold by the time his catfish sandwich came out, also the chicken sandwich came out covered in remoulade sauce, same thing for the catfish sandwich-it was covered in Tartar sauce. My husband said the breading on the catfish was light and delicious, and the tartar sauce tasted homemade . He just would have preferred less of it on the sandwich. It was literally drenched in sauce. The seasoned fries were tasty but cold when his sandwich arrived. My pulled pork was delicious, and the bbq sauce was served separately in a cup. My only complaint was that the yeast roll bun was soggy, so I had to eat it as an open face sandwich since picking it up was impossible. The mac and cheese was a disappointment. It was bland, not cheesy at all and very dry....we got there right as they opened for the day, so it had not been sitting out not sure whyit was so dry. Finally, we split a bread pudding with rum sauce. It needs ice cream, but otherwise, it was tasty. We liked it enough to try again and sample some other items while steering away from the duds that we have already experienced. I hope they keep refining the menu because they may have a winner here. They have potential for an awesome restaurant if they can figure out a few minor pitfalls.

Abigail B.

Yelp
We love Wabash!! The hot chicken bowl is awesome! There's something on the menu for everyone. The restaurant is clean, and the staff is friendly. So glad to have them in Nolensville now! We will be back!

Rob H.

Yelp
The food and atmosphere are incredible. Some of the best hot chicken in Nashville. Really glad I went.

Jerri S.

Yelp
The fried chicken was dripping in grease and tasted burnt. The tomatoes soup was disgusting. It was thick spaghetti sauce sold as soup. We will never go there again.
